Language characters on public safari (windows vista)

Hey. I cant type any characters with accents, or even accents themselves, on the public version of safari! an example is ñ, ä, î, etc.. i also cant exen type the plain character "~"! when i type it in and send the page, everything after the character with the accent goes away! please help! PS: you are probablly wondering how i typed those characters: i am currently usind IE 7, windows vista. PLEASE HELP ME

I have a OSX 10.5 and a Windows Vista machine, both are configured to use English/United Kingdom as Language/Locale. in a java app on OSX I can view chinese characters ok, but on Windows I cant they are just displayed as a square - why are they being treated differently

Thanks, that did work - I used this.setFont(Font.decode("arial unicode 11"));
But on further investigation I found that the problem only occurred with the default Tahoma font when using JGoodies Windows Look and Feel, using the standard Windows or metal LAF it was fine. If I changed the font it worked with JGoodies as well.

Safari/Windows Vista Home Premium x86 Answers Needed

I have a few things that need to be answered
1. Is it possible to have more than one version of Safari installed at the same time. Can I have 3.1.2 and either 3.1.1 or 4.0 installed so I can have 2 versions of Safari installed on the same operating system under the same user name on a hard drive that does NOT have partitions.
2. Is there anyway that the color can be changed where the tabs/menu options (File/Edit/View/etc.)/address bar is. When my laptop is not plugged in I have a hard time see that area when I am using the battery.
3. Are there anymore plug-ins available for Safari. I have the usual ones

Problem with Windows Vista Server 2008 - Font characters replaced with square blocks on login screen

Hi! Last week, I set up a server for a client (Windows Vista Server 2008). Everything was working fine until this week when I did a remote login, and the server's screen shows all blocks instead of character (ie. "Administrator" shows up as Rectangular blocks) - and when I type in the password box, my characters come out the same blocks. The computer lets me login like this but then when the desktop displays, all texts is Blocks - like the windows default font is missing.
Anybody else run into this mystery and is there a fix?

Based on my experience, this issue might be caused by compatibility issues of video card driver and language options settings.
I’d like to suggest you try the following steps to fix the issue.
1.    Please check whether you have installed correct video card drivers on both client and server machines. You’d better download the latest drivers from Video card manufacture and reinstall the drivers on both of the machines.
2.    Please confirm whether the regional and language options settings on client and server machines are the same. If not, please temporarily change the settings on two machines to be the same and have another test.
3.    If you use some third-party remote desktop connection tools to connect to the server, please have another try with Windows build-in remote desktop connection.

How do I stop international language from appearing in some Safari windows?

After selecting Polytonic Greek as one of the languages for use in composing text (MS Word), I found that Greek appeared as the default language in certain Safari windows, typically those (like a university email account I use) that are configurable for people of many nationalities. It's maybe worth noting that when Greek appeared in my Mac's language menu, it appeared above US English, unlike the other languages I use.
None of the following have fixed the problem:
--Deselecting Greek and restarting/shutting down (multiple times)
--Clearing the cache and history in Safari (multiple times)
--Running Disk Warrior and Drive Genius, my standard system maintenance software

Yes, having Greek at the top of that list does several things: Any app which has a Greek version will open with its menus and dialogues in that language. If you have installed a Greek spell checker, that will become the default in all Apple apps. And Safari will ask for the Greek version of any web site that offers that as an option. On the list, Greek appears as Ελληνικά.

Using a Mac, Firefox does not allow me to use the vertical scroll bar real-time in Godaddy webmail. It lags and jumps. Godaddy says it is a browser issue. Does not happen in Safari with Mac OS 10.4.11 or on PC w/windows vista.

Safari 3.04 Beta and Windows Vista SP1 Beta

I recently had to re-install my system because of a hardware problem. After I installed Vista Ultimate I then installed Vista Ultimate SP1 Beta.
Previously I had just Windows Vista installed without SP1 and Safari worked. Now that I have installed SP1 Beta, Safari will not load. I get an immediate error message that Safari has stopped working.
Has anyone else encountered this problem. If so, can it be fixed?

Exactly the same issue here. All was working fine until Vista SP1 beta was installed. I updated from 3.03 to 3.04 but still no go. Also tried uninstalling then reinstalling to no avail.
Apart from this have not seen any other issues relating to Vista SP1 Beta.

The Utilisation of Firefox causes Windows Vista Language Bar to disappear.

Every time I open Firefox, Windows Vista Language Bar will be missing. Once I close Firefox, Language Bar reappear. It causes trouble whenever I wanna write in different languages.

I disabled the auto-updates after the second auto-update yesterday (and after the Time Machine restore to 10.9.1). The update had already been downloaded prior to that. Apps started nagging me this morning about the update - again. There is no "cancel" option, all I do is click on "Remind me tomorrow". I suspect it will install it again anyway in the days ahead, or I may go ahead and do the update and see if the nav bar is still there given the Preferences > General fix. Thanks.

Windows reports that Safari stopped working . Windows Task Manager shows webkit2webprocess.exe process still running even after I respond to Windows prompt and close Safari ( Safari continues running after this action )

Safari won't open on my Windows Vista PC

Here is my scenario, I've had Safari working on my PC for some time now, but as soon as i updated to Version 4.0 (yeah some time ago) it just stoped working, i ofcourse upgraded to version 5.0 as soon as Safari 5.0 came out and still no luck i double click the icon, but i dont even get a flicker on the screen, so i uninstalled safari through control panel and even went as far as deleting the program files folder which housed the program but after installing the latest version from Apple still no luck.
Heres a run down
Windows Vista Ultimate Service pack 2 installed
Itunes works just fine, Apple Software update works just fine.
One peculiar fact is that i also tried google Chrome (second choice of course) but that wouldn't load either
the only browsers that seam to work are Firefox (which crashes after a couple of minutes of use) and of course IE
i figure something here is block webkit based browsers to work on this computer..
but hopefully you guys can shead some light for me on what that might be or a work around i haven't been able to find searching the support forum here.

Could you check something for me please? (This isn't going to be a cure in itself, but can give us a heads up on possible causes of the problem.)
Create a new user account on the PC with full admistrative rights. Log out of your usual account and log into the new one. (Don't use fast user switching to move between accounts.)
Try to launch Safari in the new user account. Does it open in there, or do you get the same trouble as in the usual user account?

        I don't recall it being so difficult to upgrade Safari on my computer. I have Windows Vista and I love Safari! But every where I go it is telling me that "this site is not supported by your current browser, please upgrade"
        No problem. Except it is!   I use to be able pop over to Apple and upgrade but now it only gives you the choice to upgrade a Mac. Please don't tell me that I can't use Safari any longer on Windows Vista.....

I knew someone was going to ask me why I still have Vista!   My computer works great with no problems!   I have had this HP Mini for over four years and not one problem!

Cannot find Safari bookmarks in Windows Vista folders.

Where are safari 5.1.7 bookmarks stored in Windows Vista? (A search of ALL folders cannot locate "Bookmarks.plist" in Windows Explorer).

It's inside folders that are hidden by default on Windows. Adjust your View options to Show Hidden files and folders prior to doing the search.

Safari on Windows Vista doesn't function very well

I recently installed Safari web browser on my Windows Vista OS. I tried it a few minutes and soon it didn't function anymore. When I use any of the buttons in Safari, the programme gets stuck and Vista reports an error and closes Safari automatically. I can only use it to browse websites; that's it. I cannot add bookmarks or anything else. Oh yes, I can change some settings too. I reinstalled it several times and rebooted my system. None of these has helped this problem away. Does anyone has some suggestions?
(ps I know my English isn't that good at all. I live in Belgium you see...)

I was able to install, but in my corporate environment where we use Microsoft ISA server as a Proxy I get prompted for my credentials and then the browser crashes hard.

Safari on WIndows Vista...HELP!

Hey,
I just download Safari yesterday because I heard it is now available for Windows!
But so far I'm "OK" with it but I still like IE 7. There is one problem I'm having is the "JavaScript". Every web site that I been to require "JavaScript" or "Adobe Flash Player" it doesn't works!

Wow! 3 mouse-clicks and a plug-in too hard? I didn't realise Windows had become so easy.
Though I am surprised Apple don't include common media plugins (Safari or Quicktime) as part of the install to send the 'easy' message.

Safari 3 in Windows Vista must have a full alpha-blending on its UI (anti-aliasing on the edges of the windows) in all editions of Windows Vista that includes Windows Aero UI, the Vista-Style Titlebar controls (just like in iTunes 7.2 in Windows Vista), and shadows under safari's windows.

Agreed. Though, the Aero-like iTunes caption buttons in Vista still look out of place. Apple should design their Windows apps to fit in better within the Windows ecosystem.
