Language specific characters changes when export as csv

I am using the Save as CSV file property of the grid to show the data in excel. But in CSV some spanish characters like í is getting changed to Ã.
Page is having .irpt extension.
I tried .html as well but it is giving the same error.
Could anyone help me in resolving it.

Hi
This is most probably a character set issue. The problem here is that a CSV file, unlike XML, does not contain a declaration of the character set, so there is uncertainty here.
It is possible that the program you are using to open/import the CSV file is using the wrong character set. There is a tool called the chardet library that may help you determine what the encoding is. See http://stackoverflow.com/questions/508558/what-charset-does-microsoft-excel-use-when-saving-files for these and other details.
Otherwise, if your CSV comes from a query against a database, the database collation may not be aligned with the character data you are storing.

  • Language specific characters with JDBC

Does anybody know how to insert language specific characters to Oracle tables using JDBC and without the overhead of unicode conversion back and forth?
At the moment, all we can do is to convert those characters to unicode when inserting, and perform a reverse conversion when getting back from a resultset. This is cumbersome in large text data.
Is there a way to configure the RDBMS and/or the operating system for this purpose? We are using Oracle 7.3.4 on Windows NT 4.0 SP5, Oracle JDBC Driver 8.1.6, and Java Web Server 2.0 (JDBC 1.0 compliant). Suggestions for Oracle 8.1.6 and Solaris 2.6 will also be appreciated.

  • Issue with language specific characters combined with AD-Logon to BO platform and client tools

We are using SSO via Win AD to logon to BO-Launchpad. Generally this is working which means for Launch Pad no manual log on is needed. But  this is not working for users which have language specific letters in their AD name (e.g. öäüéèê...).
What we have tried up to now:
If the AD-User name is Test-BÖ the log on is working with the user name Test-BO with logon type AD
If the logon Type "SAP" is used than it is possible to use the name Test-BÖ as the username
Generally it is no problem in AD to use language specific letters (which means it is possible to e.g. log on to Windows with the user Test-BÖ)
It is possible to read out the AD attributes from BO side and add them to the user. Which means in the user attributes the AD name Test-BÖ is shown via automatic import from AD. So it's not the problem that the character does not reach BO.
I have opened a ticket concerning that. SAP 1th level support is telling me that this is not a BO problem. They say it is a problem of Tomcat. I don't believe that because the log on with authentification type SAP is working.
I have set up the same combination (AD User Test-BÖ with SAP User Test-BÖ) as a single sign on authentification in SAP BW and there it is working without problems.
Which leads me to the conlusion: It is not a problem of AD. It is something which is connected to the BO platform but only combined with logon type AD because SAP Logon is working with language specific characters.

I have found this article with BO support:
You cannot add a user name or an object name that only differs by a character with a diacritic mark
Basically this means AD stores the country specific letters as a base letter internally. Which means that if you have created a user with a country specific letter in the name you can also logon with the Base letter to Windows.
SAP-GUI and Windows are maybe replacing the country specific letters by the base letter. Due to that SSO is working. BO seems not to be able to do that. Up to now the supporter from BO is telling me that this is not a BO problem.
Seems to be magic that the colleagues of SAP-GUI are able to to it.

  • Dropping zeros when exported to CSV format

I formated in Numbers using 5 digit place holder and setting "hide seperator" and "show zeros" This looks perfect in Numbers but when I export to CSV (I want to import the mailing list to AddressBook) it drops the front zero. I tried formating a new column as text and pasting the list into it, but it turned into numerical format and dropped the zero again when exported to CSV. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I can't help but feel I am being stupid. This shouldn't be so difficult.

    I did the following test:
    1) I formatted a column as text and entered several cells worth of 5-digit zip codes that had leading zeros.
    2) I formatted a column with a custom format of five digits, leading zeros, and no separator. I typed in a few numbers with less than five digits and they displayed with leading zeros. No surprise there.
    3) I formatted a column as text and copy/pasted from column in (2) to this text-formatted column. I was actually surprised it kept the leading zeros because the underlying data (a bunch of 3 and 4 digit numbers) does not actually have them.
    4) I exported this file as CSV.
    5) I opened the CSV in TextEdit and the leading zeros were there in all three of these columns.
This all seems to be working as you would want it to. Am I doing something different than you?
To complete the test, I opened the CSV with Numbers and it dropped all the leading zeros upon import. But you are not re-importing it into Numbers so this last step wasn't really a fair test.

  • Format Changes when Exporting to PDF

I'm using Crystal 12.0 and have an issue very similar to these threads listed below.
While viewing a report on my development machine, all is fine.  I can export to PDF and the formatting is OK.
However, when the report is exported to PDF on the web server, the spacing between some of the text is off.  The spacing is used for a CrossTab cell in a "Display String" that I changed using "Format Field."   All that's supposed to happen here is several spaces are used to move the text under the proper column.
When exporting to PDF on the web, the text moves over to the left like it's missing some of the spaces.  I wondering if the below threads apply to Crystal 12.0.
    Thread:1220516 and
Format Changes when Exporting to PDF
    Thanks kindly for your assistance,
    -Marty

I'm having a very similar problem using Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2008. Everything is perfect when running in VS 2008, it takes the report and exports it to PDF format via VB code. The PDF file is idenitcal to the report. However, when run on the server the one page report (when exported to PDF) gets chopped into ten 4x4 chunks. So the PDF file is 10 pages....its like puzzle pieces of the original.
I've drawn a bunch of lines on the report to look like boxes - perhaps this is causing issues? The font on the report is Arial.
The server has the 10_5 runtime installed and it is set to the same default printer as the development PC. I have been stuck on this for days and would really appreciate any advice you may have.
    Thanks!

  • Adding sysdate to filename  when exporting to csv in Apex V3.0.1 using IE6

    Hi,
I have created an application item (AI_DTTIME), together with an application computation that fires on before-header that is set-up as follows:
    TO_CHAR(sysdate, 'DDMMYYYY HH24:MI') ||'.'
Within the report addtributes on a page under "Report Export", within the filename, I assigned &AI_DTTIME.
When I go to test it by clicking on the link label, it seems to assign a number to the filename, such as 40.csv. Each time I clink on the link label, the filename value simply increments to the next value, i.e 41.csv
Can anyone see what I may be doing wrong or how to apply the sysdate to a filename under "Report Export".
    Thanks.
    Tony.

    Hi Tony, Hi Andy
I have a similar functionality to achieve by adding sysdate of filename when exporting to csv, adding wthr this csv is in dev or prod,URL of this report and it is powered by xyz company
I have created an application item same as andy did and the application computation with computation item AI_DTTIME, computation point - Before Header, computation type - static assignment and computation - TO_CHAR(sysdate, 'DDMMYYYY HH24MI') ||'.'
After that in report-export filename i added the address of my application item i.e &AI_DTTIME
but when i am trying to export my report to csv the header is coming with " TO_CHAR(sysdate,'DDMMYYYY HH24MI')_' "
Can you suggest where i am wrong?

  • Format changing when exporting from InDesign to PDF

I am using Acrobat 8 version 8.1.2, and InDesign version 5.0.2.
I am noticing a very specific problem when exporting some files to PDF from InDesign.
We often have a format where we have a numbered list of right-aligned number, followed by some text, a leader line, and then another number at the end of the line. This is set up with a left indent and a first line left indent (rather than using the numbered list options), and then the necessary tabs later in the lines.
I am finding since we switched to IDCS3, that when I export to PDF, lines containing this format change in the PDF. The text that appears after the number in the front of the line is pushed over on top of the leader line, leaving a huge white space. On rarer occasions, it will move things in lines that have no indents, but contain tabs that aren't being used.
I have been able to get the files to export correctly by removing the left indent and first-line left indent and using tabs instead (or by removing unused tabs). But we have hundreds of files set up in this manner so going in and changing how they are all set up is problematic to say the least.
Is this a known issue? Does anyone know why this might happen and how I can prevent it?

I haven't tried printing to PDF. I will try that and see what happens. Unfortunetly, where I work we are required to export to PDF rather than print to PDF, so if it works it will only be a clue for me rather than a solution.
Thanks for the reply. I'll try a cross post to the InDesign forms.

  • Problem when Exporting to CSV delimited File in SSRS

When I export my information to CSV file so its in raw data format and easily used in one of the fields I have a number that is big (for example, 140313055811).  It's really just an invoice number, but when I export it to CSV and open it, it shows
something like 1.41E+11.  I need to get it to display the full number instead of this.  Is there a way? I tried making the textbox that its in as a number, I tried make the value area of the field =int(name of field), I tried changing it to text.
None of these do the trick.

    Hi grahamtribe,
After testing the issue in my local environment, I can reproduce it when open the csv file with Excel. As per my understanding, there is no width when we export the report to csv, Excel is just using the default cell sizes when we open the csv. When a number
value is wider than the default cell size, it would use Scientific format.
In this scenario, we can select all the cells in the csv file, then click Format| AutoFit Column Width to change all the cells width to fit its corresponding values in Excel level.
Besides, we can try to export to excel instead of csv. Excel format can inherit the column width in the report. So in this way, we can directly change the width to fit the values in Reporting Services level.
    Hope this helps.

  • Width and height changes when exporting

When I export a vector design from Illustrator to raster (.jpg in this case), I am given the opportunity to select the "Use Artboards" feature. Once clicked, I assume my dimensions will not change. Here are my selected options:
    "Use artboards" option is selected
    Image quality: 10
    Format method: Baseline (Standard)
    Resolution: Depth: Screen
    Custom: 72 DPI (grayed out)
However, when importing the .jpg file into Photoshop, the "Image Size" information reveals that one (1) pixel is added to the height and width.
Why does this occur? How can I be sure Illustrator's artboard size will remain the same when exporting?

Are you using "crooked" sizes? In that case sometimes the dimensions get adjusted to accomodated the compression algorithm, which is course based on blocks of a given size. also make sure to explicitly setup everything with units set to pixels. Rasterization of stuff based on other units can lead to inconsistent results. Also always define your artboards and slices at 100% zoom. You may accidentally create slightly too large stuff where the actual dimensions do not coincide with full pixels at other resolutions.

the issue is a file is missing when exporting proccess is done, the file is DM_CommentsRDBMS.csv, this file contains the commens of columns.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I logged bug however information is not enough to locate the problem.
You can use export to reporting schema in order to get your model exported - in database in that case.
We are not going to extend "export to CSV file" functionality any further - it'll be as it is now.

  • Leading zeros are dropped when exporting as csv

I have a report that when I export as csv, leading zeros in text columns are dropped in excel. The text columns appear fine in the report, however, when I export the leading zero is gone in excel. For example, in the report my text column could have a value of 0101, when it is exported to excel it has a value of 101. The code behind the link to export to csv is f?p=&APP_ID.:&APP_PAGE_ID.:&SESSION.:FLOW_EXCEL_OUTPUT_R#REGION_ID#
Is there a way to keep the leading zero in excel?
    Regards
    Mark

Thanks for your reply. In my query I wrapped the column with double quotes as you suggest, and added the same column for display:
    select '"'||column1||'"' execl_col, column1 disp_col from table where ....
Using htmldb_application.g_excel_format as a conditional display I can control what is displayed on the screen and export to csv the double quoted text field. I have that part working fine. Using my previous data example, I am now seeing in excel 0101"".
Did I wrap the field incorrectly with double quotes? How can I exclude the
double quotes in the export to csv?

  • Opacity level changing when exporting text with alpha

    Hello,
I am hoping someone can shed some light on what is happening with my opacity levels when exporting text with an alpha.  I have animated text where some words are black at 50% opacity and some words are white at full opacity.  They are on a textured background.  I need to give the other editors a version of the text married to the background and one that is just text with an alpha.  When I export it and bring it into Premiere, the "married" version looks fine, but the black in the version of the text with alpha appears more transparent.  I can fix this by changing the blend mode to Hard Light or Luminosity, but this alters the color of the white text slightly (and I should note that the blend mode in AE was normal).  I can of course work around this by exporting my black and white text separately, but I was hoping someone might know why this is happening.
I am working on AE CC (ver12) and Premiere CC (ver7)
    Thank you!

    Rick, I am judging visually.
I have since taken the cue from Mylenium, and I think the problem has to do with the fact that AE's default opacity is not linear and Premiere's is.  When I change the sequence settings of Premiere and uncheck "Composite in Linear Color" the blacks of my clips match.  Similarly when I change my Project Settings in AE and check "Linearize Working Space" the blacks appear lighter as they did when with the text only clip in Premiere.  Since I am working with other editors that are using Premiere, I assume I should change the settings in After Effects to match Premiere (linear).  Unless there is any reason I shouldn't do that?
    Thank you,
    -Keri
