Large excel files won't combine to pdf in Acrobat X or XI

I have large Excel files (0.3 to 1.2 MB) that I used to combine into a single pdf.  It will only work now on Excel files smaller than 1MB.  This was working a few weeks ago.  What happened?  I have tried on computers that have both Acrobat X and XI (we have both scattered around our building).
Any ideas?  Thanks.

FileOpen is a security add-on, which is needed to open some files. Not a part of Adobe software. Maybe you need to upgrade or report it: http://www.fileopen.com/

  • I need to sort very large Excel files and perform other operations.  How much faster would this be on a MacPro rather than my MacBook Pro i7, 2.6, 15R?

I am a scientist and run my own business.  Money is tight.  I have some very large Excel files (~200MB) that I need to sort and perform logic operations on.  I currently use a MacBookPro (i7 core, 2.6GHz, 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3) and I am thinking about buying a multicore MacPro.  Some of the operations take half an hour to perform.  How much faster should I expect these operations to happen on a new MacPro?  Is there a significant speed advantage in the 6 core vs 4 core?  Practically speaking, what are the features I should look at and what is the speed bump I should expect if I go to 32GB or 64GB?  Related to this I am using a 32 bit version of Excel.  Is there a 64 bit spreadsheet that I can us on a Mac that has no limit on column and row size?

    Grant Bennet-Alder,
It’s funny you mentioned using Activity Monitor.  I use it all the time to watch when a computation cycle is finished so I can avoid a crash.  I keep it up in the corner of my screen while I respond to email or work on a grant.  Typically the %CPU will hang at ~100% (sometimes even saying the application is not responding in red) but will almost always complete the cycle if I let it go for 30 minutes or so.  As long as I leave Excel alone while it is working it will not crash.  I had not thought of using the Activity Monitor as you suggested. Also I did not realize using a 32 bit application limited me to 4GB of memory for each application.  That is clearly a problem for this kind of work.  Is there any work around for this?   It seems like a 64-bit spreadsheet would help.  I would love to use the new 64 bit Numbers but the current version limits the number of rows and columns.  I tried it out on my MacBook Pro but my files don’t fit.
    The hatter,
This may be the solution for me. I’m OK with assembling the unit you described (I’ve even etched my own boards) but feel very bad about needing to step away from Apple products.  When I started computing this was the sort of thing computers were designed to do.  Is there any native 64-bit spreadsheet that allows unlimited rows/columns, which will run on an Apple?  Excel is only 64-bit on their machines.
Many thanks to both of you for your quick and on point answers!

  • I am having trouble opening a large Excel file (xlsx) on my iPad3

Do I need to purchase an app to be able to open this large Excel file?

Of course. No computer will open a file without an appropriate program to do so.  Search the App Store for "spreadsheets" to get an idea of what software is available. Aples own "Numbers" might be considered, or "QuickOffice" or several others,

  • WIS 10883 using large Excel File as source for report in WebI RichClient

    Hi,
I'm trying to use a relatively large Excel 2003 file, say 7000 rows and 19 columns, as a source for a report in WebI Rich Client. When selecting a range of only 1500 records and 19 columns everything works, when accessing the full 7000 (or originally 30,000) I get this error message.
Does anybody know of a size limit for this and if so an option to adjust it? The only resources for this very limited.
    Thanks
    Norman Ruppert

    Tina,
I'm not sure why you are so negative to having Excel in the mix.
Excel is only used at development time - its mearly used as a design interface to build the xcelsius model that feeds data and controls components within the flash file that xcelsius generates.
Excel is not used at run time in any way (unless one uses a third party connector to use an XLS as a data source of course).
If you attempt to use xceslius without using the OLE embeded Excel sheet at design time you will only be able to create VERY simplistic dashboards.
The new connectivity in version 4 just removes a design step to make development simpler my combining direct to components - but behind the sceens i believe it is really only connecting to a hidden part of the model not shown the the Excel interface at design time!
i think we would all agree that having excel can be a pain at design time (especially those that used/use live office!) but it does offer a pretty good interface for building very intuative looking models behind your flash components.
    cheers,
    Jeremy.

  • Hyperlinks from converted excel file are not working after pdf file is moved

I have created a pdf file from an excel file that has hyperlinks in it. The hyperlinks work fine if the files are all kept in the same exact location as the time they were created. Once the files are moved (i.e. emailed to another user) the hyperlinks no longer work. An error message pops up that the file can not be found. Is there a setting or something that I'm missing in acrobat that allows for the files to be moved, so that the hyperlinks still function properly, after creation

    No settings adjustments.
The issue is that links, once made, have a specific path (as shown when you view the link's text string).
When you email the files the person who recieves the email and downloads the attachments would have to have the same layout of files/folders you have.
    Without that links are "broken"
You email a zip file that, when extracted, would create the folders/files in the required layout to reflect what you have.
    Be well...

  • IMac 2.66 Radeon HD 2600 Pro: some Excel files won't display in ppt decks

Running Leopard 10.5.8 and MS Office 2004
Two iMac (8.1) 2.66 GHz with ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro video won't display some Excel files in PowerPoint decks, but iMac 1.83 GHz Core Duo will display o.k. as will MacBook Pro, MacBook, etc. Installing a trial version of Office 2008, both iMac 2.66 GHz display the PowerPoint files o.k.
I could downgrade the users to Intel iMac 1.83 GHz, or buy two copies of Office 2008 and support them, neither of which is a great solution.
Looking for a simple fix or workaround on what seems to be a video card issue. Don't seem to see this problem or a fix on the ATI site. I've googled this but haven't run into a similar issue.

Well, Office 2008 is only $110 USD at http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Office-2008-Home-Student/dp/B000X86ZAS/ref=sr11?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1251560959&sr=8-1
That seems the least expensive solution to me.

  • Exporting large excel file exception

    Hello-
I am using Jasper reports within a j2ee application to generate an excel file, and this file is written on the reponse outputstream. It is deployed as a web application on Oracle application server 10g
When the generated xls file is large like 2 Mb or more, Oracle application server throws ServletException and sometimes NullpointerException.
The same application runs smoothly on the IBM Webshpere test server embedded on websphere application developer.
I tried to increase the reponse buffer size for AS10g but the problem is still there.
    Could anyone help in this?
    Thanks

    Hi Jason,
Unfortunately, Xcelsius is not designed to handle the large volume of embedded data that you have described.  There are basically 2 approaches to resolve your issue:
    1) Try to aggregate the data and simplify the lookups, to reduce the total number of cells until Xcelsius is able to process it;
    2) Store the large volume of data in an external data source and retrieve only the necessary subset of data via one of Xcelsius's external connectivity options including web services or XML etc.
Also, with 15 tabs, depending on the number of components you have within each tab panel, you may also be pushing the limit of how many total components Xcelsius can handle.  However, based on your comments, I would say the real issue is the 8MB Excel file, a size which Xcelsius simply cannot handle.

  • How to import large excel files which exceeds more then 65535 rows

    Hi there,
I am using the latest Numbers version (v3.5.3) on the latest Yosemite (10.10.3) and wonder if and how it is possible to import an Excel file which exceeds the 65535 limit. I know MS Excel has change this limit to 156118 rows. But I don't have that program. I am only using the Mac versions.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello NavNak.
My knee jerk reaction would be to split the incoming Excel file.  (How else can a gallon of water fit into a half gallon jug?)  I googled 'Excel file splitter' and up came a bunch of hits with one of them coming from this Apple Community.  Check out thread #6486876 which is How To Split Large Excel or CSV Files into Smaller Files

  • HELP, Acrobat 9 missing files, won't create new PDF & won't repair

PLEASE HELP! I tried to create a PDF in Acrobat 9 from a Word 2003 document & it won't let me. I've done this many times before & now all of a sudden it won't work. The import starts & then I get a message that it is missing "pdfmaker files". I tried to repair Acrobat using the "Repair Acrobat Installation" button, but nothing happened. I tried to use my disk but get a message that the "Patch Package could not be opened". I'm using Windows XP. Any help is appreciated.

When ever you are having such problems, the first thing to try is the basic print process. The second is to look for the PDF toolbar in the applications of OFFICE that you are using (or other applications). If they do not exist, it is typically that the macros for PDF Maker are not enabled (Abhigyan has addressed this) or PDF Maker does not work with that application. The latter is sometimes either that there is no capability for the specific application or there is a compatibility issue between AA and the appl (like AA prior to 10 and OFFICE 2010).

  • Reading and Writing large Excel file using JExcel API

    hi,
I am using JExcelAPI for reading and writing excel file. My problem is when I read file with 10000 records and 95 columns (file size about 14MB), I got out of memory error and application is crashed. Can anyone tell me is there any way that I can read large file using JExcelAPI throug streams or in any other way. Jakarta POI is also showing this behaviour.
    Thanks and advance

Sorry when out of memory error is occurred no stack trace is printed as application is crashed. But I will quote some lines taken from JProfiler where this problem is occurred:
              reader = new FileInputStream(new File(filePath));
              workbook = Workbook.getWorkbook(reader);
*sheeet = workbook.getSheet(0);* // here out of memory error is occured
               JProfiler tree:
    jxl.Workbook.getWorkBook
          jxl.read.biff.File
                 jxl.read.biff.CompoundFile.getStream
                       jxl.read.biff.CompoundFile.getBigBlockStream Thanks

I am having issues previewing a file I created.  The underlying excel file is fairly large and complex (8mb, 15 tabs, significant amount of look-ups/linking).  When I try to visualize, it just continues to think.  Is there a way around my issue?  Thanks.

  • Read very very large excel file into 2d array (strings or varient)

    Hi all,
Long time user, first time poster on these boards.
Looking at the copius amounts of great info related to reading Excel data from .xls files into labview, i've found that every one i've found from various people use the ActiveX method (WorkSheet.Range) which two strings are passed, namely excel's LetterNumber format to specify start and end.
However, this function does not work when trying to query huge amounts of information. The error returned is "Type Mismatch, -2147352571" I have a very large excel sheet i need to read data from and then close the excel file (original file remains unchanged). However this file is gigantic (don't ask me, I didn't make it and I can't convince them to use something more appropriate) with over 165 columns at 1000 rows of data.I can read a large number of columns, but only a handful of rows, or vice versa.
Aside from creating a loop to open and close the excel file over and
over reading pieces of it at a time, is there a better way to read more
data using ActiveX? Attached is code uploaded by others (with very minor modification) as an example.
    Thanks,

Excel Get Data Specified Field (1-46col).vi ‏23 KB

    Hi Maddox731,
I've only had a very quick glance through your thread, and I must admit I haven't really thought it through properly yet. Sounds like you've come up with your own solution anyway. That said I thought I'd take a bit of a scatter gun approach and attach some stuff for you regradless. Please forgive my bluntness.
You'll find my ActiveX Excel worksheet reader, which may or may not contain the problem you've come across. I've never tried it with the data size you are dealing with, so no promises. I've also attached my ADO/SQL approach to the problem. This was something I moved onto when I realised the limitations of AX. One thing I have noticed is that ADO/SQL is much faster than AX, so there may be some gains for you there with large data sets if you can implement it.
I should add that I'm a novice to all this and my efforts are down to bits I've gleamed from MSDN and others' LV examples. I hope it's of some use, if only to spark discussion. Your ctiticism is more than welcome, good or bad.
    Regards.

  • Default large Excel file to client application rather than prompting for PowerBI

I have a user working with OneDrive for Business to share a 13MB Excel file that contains PowerPivot data.  When a user clicks the shared link or the guest link they receive this message:
We cannot determine a way to open this file in the Excel client.  Naturally we would like to default this file to open in the client rather than throw an error and a "free trial" option.
Why is there no button for "open with client application?"

    Has anyone else experienced this?
