Large picture on photo paper

How do I order a larger picture than 20x30? I would like it to be 30x40.

Use a service that offers 30x40?
Apple don’t but you can search for alternative services on Google.

  • Printing 4 x 6 photos on photo paper

I have a C7100 all in one printer and since I've installed Leopard I can't print pictures on photo paper. When I try and print pictures they come out on plain paper, even though there is photo paper in the tray. I've tried every combinations of settings to print pictures but they all come out on plain paper. Anyone else have this printer and this problem?

As Larry pointed out you should be able to get to these options in the Print window:
Then in the Paper Handling section (I think) you should be able to select the paper tray. If it's not that section it will be one of the others as the HP may have slightly different options.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

The list you saw that shows what drivers are available from Apple Software Update is based on what drivers are supplied by the vendor to Apple. So it would appear that HP has not provided Apple with a scanner driver for 10.9 (known as an ICA driver), or provided an update if one was available for a previous version of OS X, so that you can scan from Image Capture.
I checked the HP web site for your model and they don't show any scanner driver or scanning software. If there was a scanner driver, you would be able to use Vuescan.
As for the Scan button not working, the following is documented by HP
Scanning to the computer from the printer control panel is not available when you scan with Preview, Image Capture, or Printer browser methods. You must use HP Scan software to scan from the printer.
But there does not appear to be any version of HP Scan software available for 10.9. So unless someone else has some workaround, it seems that you won't be able to scan with this model of HP.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 (N911a) will not feed photo paper - Definitive Answer!!!!

    DUST IS THE CULPRIT!
As per the HP support page for this specific problem, cleaning the rollerhead (The rubber part of the pick roller), is the solution.
    HP Solution here (with pictures).
The specifics are found under the heading:
Solution four: Clean the paper rollers
My printer was able to pick up regular paper, but not photo paper.  I updated all drivers (they automatically update weekly).  I tried every combination of paper in the tray: 1 sheet of photo paper, a large stack of regular paper with 1 photo paper, large stack with 5 sheets of photo paper.  Every combination failed, and the best it got was 1 page of photo paper with the next sheet underneath also coming with it.
I put the thing on its side, and used RUBBING ALCOHOL, (not water as they suggest... rubbing alcohol is much better for electronics, and pretty much any cleaning application.... evaporates very quickly), with a true lint free cloth.  Went over it several times with the cloth, rotating while cleaning, and used an AIR DUSTER to clean out the internals, and dry off the PICK ROLLER.
I RESET ROLLER POSITION to the original place, as shown in the HP Photo on support page.
Lastly, ONE SHEET OF PAPER at a time.
It took all that, and I'm still not happy with HP for this massive oversight... but it got my photos printing again.  Hopefully it will for you too!!

I managed to find a temporary solution as i need to print a photo urgently :
I sticked a piece of scotchtape along the top border of the paper (on the back side) and then it could feed. And i don't know why, but after this first print with scotchtape, the next photo papers would feed normally.
I hope it helps you guys. See the picture:

  • Why are banded lines more prominent on photo paper?

My HP 1350 is pretty good for an inexpensive printer, but it does produce banded lines when there's a lot of black or anything like that. For that reason, I haven't experimented much with printing on photo paper. But I just now tried again, doing a regular paper test, then a photo paper version. The bands/lines showed up much more prominently on the photo paper. Any fixes for this (besides buying a better printer)?
    Thanks very much --
    Christine

There are a couple of things that can affect print quality.
If you are just doing everyday printing, chances are it will just be a copy, fair at best.
If on the other hand you want a pristine copy the best you can get.
You will have better luck with a Photo Program like the older Photo Deluxe for OS 9 or Classic, and the newer Photoshop or CS all are Adobe and will allow you to reformat to TIFF Format that is historically the best format to use for the highest quality.
If you are working with a JPG photo or picture that you can't enhance the resolution from the raw work you will only be able to use the printer Preferences.
It appears that each new printer that HP comes out with they change this function just a little.
Go to FILE and click print, then a Box will open and under the General tab it will give you your Paper options choose your paper, then you should have 4 additional options of Draft, Normal, Best, and High Res.
These can vary as I mentioned earlier depending on your printer but they are there.
So if you choose the best or High Res option you are only going to get whatever the quality of the Original is unless you enhance it and or change formats.
Normal JPG's that are used on most web sites and you see are rarely any better than 144dpi the higher the dpi the larger the file and the better the quality.
I try to use 300 dpi on everything, this way I know you get what you see.
The downside to this is the very large size of the file. Most people don't want to use up there space by saving large files, So, it depends on what you are doing and for what purpose will determine the finished quality.
    Hope this helps..Don

  • When I click on picture in Photo Gallery...just blank screen...no picture

Hi. I have been doing well with iPhoto until I tried to migrate to Aperture. When I migrated to Aperture, I deleted the iPhoto library in Aperture as I read in the tutorial.
Clearly, I did something wrong. Well, I uninstalled Aperture and will be using that at another time, but for now here is my dilemma.
Since I migrated photos to Aperture, consolidated them with iPhoto and then deleted...
now I open my iPhoto and double click on a photo to edit or view...and nothing appears. Just blank screen. The small pics are at the top but it doesn't open to a larger picture. Where are my photos! Help!
    Image: !http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150106481305832&set=a.101501064812108 32.307068.555810831!

The previews you refer to are the thumbnails in the iPhoto Library - iPhoto creates them when you import a photo.
Aperture has the ability to trash Referenced Files. If you imported the files to Aperture as Referenced and then trashed them from Aperture, are you sure you didn't also tell it to trash the Referenced Files. This would produce exactly the scenario that you describe.

  • Solved! All-in-Ones Misalignment on Costco or Heavy Photo Paper Issue

Hi, after much frustration, I finally came upon a solution to the issue of misalignment when printing heavy (Costco or HP Premium) photo papers. My printer is networked and connected via the router. This fix will probably work with other All-in-Ones as well. (I haven't tried this on business cards yet but will post back when I do). By the way, I'm using Windows 7. This is a very wordy post in order to get all the steps and make it easier to follow. Here goes.
Devices and Printers/Add Printer - this is so your original printer file does not get damaged. Also you might want to create a Restore Point.
Before adding your new printer, check under Devices and Printers/right-click current working printer/Printer Properties (not "Properties")/Ports/. Make note of the port that is current being used and working. You will use this same port on the newly added printer.
Device and Printers/Add Printer/Add Local printer/Under Use Existing Port hold down the arrow at right and select the working port you made note of in step 2.
Select HP on the left/HP OfficeJet 6500 709a on the far right (this is a generic printer driver specially made to fix printer issues like this)/Next/Do not share this printer/Next.
Do a test print on plain paper at the end of install.
    Now to print your photo:
Clean the printer rollers(I cleaned the ones on the back door where you clear a jam) with an electronic cleaning wipe (maybe alcohol and paper towel will work, too). This is because I think the printer has a hard time picking up the heavier glossy paper after some years of collecting soil and dust on the rollers so it slips - just my theory.
Select the photo/s you want to print. (I was trying to print a simple photo index/contact sheet. 8.5"x11" using Costco paper. The contact sheet in Explorer is located as you scroll down the options on the side). I was printing directly from Windows Explorer window in the folder where the image was located.)
    Print/Select the new printer you just added/paper size 8.5x11/HP Premium Photo Paper/Fit to Picture Frame/Options/Features tab/Borderless unchecked/OK/Print
Result - a beautiful print like the kind HP is known for. Now, whenever you need to print something on heavy photo paper just select this printer. When finished, go back to your default printer.
It is my sincere wishes that this helps somebody who has been as frustrated as I have been not getting this feature to work. Now onto the business cards solution...

    Thank you for  the information.
Does anyone really think that HP or Avery will print this work around in their documentation?
Does HP OfficeJet 6500 709a printer exist on all software editions from HP? And how did YOU know that "this is a generic printer driver specially made to fix printer issues like this"? No one else figured that one out- who told  you?
"Clean the printer rollers(I cleaned the ones on the back door where you clear a jam) with an electronic cleaning wipe (maybe alcohol and paper towel will work, too). This is because I think the printer has a hard time picking up the heavier glossy paper after some years of collecting soil and dust on the rollers so it slips - just my theory." Problem: people have had the HP business card printing problem with brand new printers- certaintly without years of soil or dust on the rollers.
How should a user, unfamilar with those gyrations you described above, go about using the printer?  The basic issue is that these printers DO NOT work for Avery and other business cards unless you know how to do the actions described.
"The sheet stock business card printing problem you are having is a well documented process or product defect that newer HP printers seem to have.  Others have said that older HP printers did not have this problem.  I echo that experience also.  There are multiple questions on these forums with various answers (revert to older printer drivers, change paper type chosen in printer setup, change brand of card paper) but the end all is that HP printers or all in ones cannot print Avery business card sheet stock with any type of repeatability or consistency due to the wandering margin issue. It is unknown whether this is a software or hardware issue or or paper issue or combination of these."
The best solution seems to be to consider a printer that feeds almost straight through versus up and around. If HP has this type of printer you could consider it. Otherwise there are alternative printer brands that feed straight through that may be better for printing sheet stock business cards.

  • How do you invoke the customer satisfaction guarantee on HP photo paper?

OK, perhaps this is a silly question, but I can't find anything on the HP site or forums that addresses this.  How does one invoke the customer satisfaction guarantee on HP photo paper?  The instructions in the box (and website) tell me to call HP customer care.  I did that, and spent 25 minutes having a technician tell me it was a problem with my printer (HP Photosmart C6180), my printer was out of warranty, and I would need to exchange it and pay a fee to upgrade to a newer model with a 1 year warranty.  She seemed not to care or know anything about the customer satisfaction guarantee for paper; she was only trained to tell you the problem was most surely with the printer.
In case anyone here can help, I have the HP Premium Plus 4x6 glossy paper, and whenever I use it the picture quality is extremely poor--not at all what I expected from the paper.  It appears the ink has "balled" up, and it looks very splotchy.  I am setting the paper type appropriately when printing, and I use original HP 02 inks.  When I use other photo paper to print photos, they come out perfectly.  Having wasted quite a bit of ink and paper trying different things, I'm just not satisfied and would like to discuss this further with HP.

The only numbers available (I've just reached over and picked up a box of premium plus 4X6 from my supply shelves to look) are on the bottom end back of the box.  They are directly under their corresponding bar codes; the Product Number (for 4X6 premium plus it's Q1978AC) and what looks like the SKU (on my box, ignoring the small 8 and 5 at either end, that reads 0873654213).  Additionally, there is a "Lot Number" (printed in white dot printing on a gray box background) directly above the product number (which should have "US" in the upper left, and a string below that...mine is US00204805).  There is no number on the back of the paper, just the HP logo and a string of 6 small dots under it in a diagonal pattern spread across it.
So, I expect they want all three; Product Number, SKU, and Lot Number...the last likely so that that can pull a lot sample from their QA inventory and attempt to reproduce the issue back at the lab.
    Hope that helps.

  • I have a large number of photos imported into iPhoto with the dates wrong.  How can I adjust multiple photos (with varying dates) to the same, correct, date?

I have a large number of photos imported into iPhoto with the dates wrong.  How can I adjust multiple photos (with varying dates) to the same, correct, date?

If I understand you correctly, when you enter a date in the Adjust Date and Time window, the picture does not update with the date you enter.  If that is the case then something is wrong with iPhoto or your perhaps your library.
How large a date change are you putting in?  iPhoto currently has an issue with date changes beyond about 60 years at a time.  If the difference between the current date on the image and the date you are entering is beyond that range that may explain why this is not working.
If that is not the case:
Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer and try again:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.iphoto
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iPhoto (There may be more than one. Remove them all.)
---NOTE: to get to the "home > library" hold down option on the keyboard and click on "Go" > "Library" while in the Finder.
    Let me know the results.

  • Printing 4x6 photos on HP Laserjet 4630. photo paper tray not working?

I am trying to print 4x6 photos on glossy paper.  My printer has a photo paper tray in addition to a standard letter tray.  When I specify 4x6 borderless glossy paper in the print parameters, the printer keeps pulling from the standard paper tray instead of the photo tray on top of the printer.  This has worked for me in the past, but I haven't used it in a long time.  What must I be doing wrong?

    Hey. I'm a photographer with the C4280.
This printer takes care of 8.5 x 11's pretty much perfectly. But 4 x 6 not for me on iPhoto or Photoshop.
So what I did was I set up a pages document with a blank template, set at 4 x 6 inches.
I dragged rulers about .25inches in and threw in the photo set at 4 x 6 ratio. So... most photos are 4 x 6, just resize it to fit in the rulers.
I've noticed in most occasions it cuts off the top of the photo document when laid out in portrait.
What I do is a hit command p, select the printer but choose under the drop box that says "layout" i hit borderless printing, and a selectable box will show up saying "print borderless" and i just clicked it.
on the document though you might want to make the opacity 10% to save ink. you have to trouble shoot the exact place to set and drag up or down the photo. but once you get it, its reliable the duration the document is open and the printer is on.
i know its kind of pointless for one, but i had a shoot with live printing on the spot with this printer and its great. you can add texts boxes and put those perfectly where you want (once you set the picture so its set) and throw in another picture and really customize the 4 x 6.
i printed a postcard with the writing already in it. just had to mail it no writing involved.
you also need iwork 08 or 09. i have 08 but im sure 09 works. so if you save the pages doc as a template you can just drag in the image file into where the old image is and print that way.
command p, choose borderless printing in the drop box and click print borderless. it should work.
email me for a copy of my pages document. [email protected]
i promise though, with canon or epson 4 x 6 print paper, its pretty amazing. almost comparable to my prints from my printer.
    or you can fit 12 3.5 x 2inch (business card sized) pics on an 8.5 x 11.

  • ADVICE ON IMPORTING LARGE QUANTITY OF PHOTOS FROM CAMERA

I am planning a European trip this summer and anticipate taking a very large number of photos.  I have purchased a 16GB memory card as I was advised this was simpler than attempting to upload to a cloud server or IPAD while travelling.  My question is:  Once I return I will need to load possibly a couple of thousand photos to Elements 11.  I imagine this will take hours and hours in the usual fashion as I will be shooting in RAW.  Is there a way to segment this uploading or does anyone have advice for me as to how I might better accomplish this task?
    Thank you in advance

I would not risk storing all the pictures of a trip to a single 16 GB card... Using your IPAD as backup seems a very good idea.
About the speed of uploading a library of 16 GB, it's not much more than copying 16GB to your computer from a card or a USB stick. You can test it yourself; 'getting' files from the card into the catalog is quick after the 16GB are copied, the only step which will be longer is the creation of the thumbnails, but that does not prevent you from working in the organizer before they are created.

  • Mail attachment in jpg file requires photo paper on eprint

    Hello,
I am using an HP Photosmart 7510,printer. I have just configured eprint and I tried by sending by eprint a mail with a jpg attachment. The printer requires me to put photo paper into the printer. The problem is that if the attachment is in jpg format, it is not a format but just a scan of a page...
Does somedoby know how to solve this?

    Hi Fred of Texas,
    Welcome to the HP Forum.
Your Printing Preferences may be stuck.
Paper Size and Media Type are selected in Printing Preferences:
Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers > Right-Click your Printer >
Printing Preferences > tab Paper / Quality >>
Select Paper Source > as desired / required by printer model
Select Paper Size > as desired / required for the print job
Select Media > as desired / required for the print job
    OK
You might try opening the Photo image in Windows Photo Viewer -- the program comes with most flavors of Windows.
Once you open the photo in Windows Photo Viewer, select to print it and then pick your options.
Note that the "fit picture to frame" is NOT checked!
You can use the following example:
