Last session tabs suddenly not reopening

For months now, when I opened FF, all of the tabs I had open in the previous session automatically reopened. When I started FF 6.0 today, all of my tabs were gone. I look at my history, and it shows lots of pages I have visited. That tells me that it wasn't that the history was deleted. Any ideas?

  • Why Firefox always opens with last session tabs?

When I open firefox always opens with last session tabs? How can I fix it?

You can check if you have a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that sets the <b>browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once</b> pref to true.
The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be there.
You can check its content with a plain text editor (right-click: "Open with"; do not double-click).
The user.js file is read each time Firefox is started and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.
You can delete the user.js file if you didn't create this file yourself.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
Windows hides some file extensions by default.
Among them are .html and .ini and .js and .txt, so you may only see file name without file extension.
You can see the real file type (file extension) in the properties of the file via the right-click context menu in Windows Explorer.

  • Pages Suddenly Not Reopening Its Files

    Using Pages 5.5.2 (w Yosemite)
Just recently (in fact not long after doing a complete clean re-install of Yosemite for an unrelated issue), I've noticed that Pages sometimes does not reopen the documents I hadn't closed the time I last quit the app. (And these are just plain old Quits, not Force Quits or a "Quit Unexpectedly"-on-its-own situation.)
Does the newest update have some sort of "restore previous session" command (a la some browsers)?  Or a new Preference I need to activate?  (Can't find any sign of either.)  I know that Pages 5.x HAD been reopening files in the way you'd expect, so is this new "absent minded" behavior more likely a system issue than an application one?
The docs I want to use are generally all in the Open Recent list, but having to go to that list and select them one at a time is annoying. Would just like to get back the default behavior of when I close Pages with five docs on the go, those same five docs reopen right where I left off the next time I launch the app. Any suggestions on how to make that happen would be welcome.
    Thanks,
    John B

  • Command + Click on link to open in new tab suddenly not working

I am an enthusiastic user of command + click to open a link in a new tab, but it suddenly stopped working earlier today and I cannot figure out how to re-enable this feature. I'm on the beta release cycle at version 7.0, with several addons installed, including (perhaps relevantly) Tab Mix Plus.

This is a link to a modified (by the Greasemonkey devs) version of Tab Mix Plus. Works around the bug until the TMP guys do so officially.

  • I mistakenly deleted the files that allowed for the restore last session tab on homepage; how to reinstall?

I was cleaning up desktop and deleted a firefox file that I didn't recognize....it ended up being the one that allows for opening up the previous session

I have no idea how/why it was on desktop....and I emptied the recycle bin already! I was just trying to get organized a bit and clean up clutter...but I did use that feature almost daily, as it helped me to just close up the computer in the evening without worrying about getting to all the work the next day, as I would now immediately remember what I was doing!

  • When the browser opens, I want to be able to open all my open tabs from the last session or have a blank home page if there weren't any tabs to reopen. How do I set the homepage to do that?

When Firefox starts up I would rather have a blank page for the homepage if I didn't have any tabs from my previous session to open up. There doesn't seem to be an option for this. The choice is to either reopen last session tabs OR blank page but does not seem to allow for "if no last session tabs, then open blank page" If it does, then please tell me how.

It would seem if your choose "Show my windows and tabs from last time" '''''and''''',
*when you last closed Firefox, you had no web site open (just a blank tab), that it would open just that blank tab
*when you last closed Firefox, you had one or more tabs/web site open, that would allow you to "Restore Previous Session"
    #Have you tried that?
#If so, what is happening in each circumstance when you reopen Firefox?
    '''Restore Previous Session'''<br />
Open tabs are automatically saved when closing Firefox beginning in Firefox 4. To open your last session, after Firefox starts, click History > Restore Previous Session. For this to work

  • 'Reopen All Windows From Last Session' Will Not Work

So, first Safari won't let me even open a new window and told me that I needed to reinstall and that my version of Safari was missing something - I can't remember the precise thing it told me I was missing. At that point, I restarted to see if that wouldn't fix the problem - it didn't, and 'Reopen All Windows From Last Session' wasn't working then. I reinstalled, and now everything else is working fine exact 'Reopen All Windows From Last Session' - it's not grayed out or anything, but when I click it *nothing happens*
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Tabs from Last Session Rather than Home Page Showing Upon Start

Using FF 4.0.1 and even tho I have (and have '''''ALWAYS'''''had) "Show my Home Page Only on Startup" selected and '''''NOT''''' "Show Windows & Tabs fr. Last Time" selected, the window(s) and tab(s) from my last session have suddenly (starting yesterday) showing up every time I start up FF. (And I didn't upgrade to 4.0.1 yesterday; did that a couple wks ago. )

    You're welcome.
Using File > Exit usually works better because you close all open windows at once.

  • Safari unable reload last session automatically in Lion

Hi there,  For some reason my safari could not reload the last session after close and reopen the browser window.  Does anyone having the same problem?  Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem too, and here's how I fixed it:
Go into System Preferences > General.
In the "General" preferences pane, uncheck the "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps".
Close system preferences, and reopen Safari.

  • "internal error in iDVD at last session" msg keeps popping up

i have issues with idvd. everything i finished making a movie with iMovie '09 and share it using iDvd to make a dvd, after imovie compresses file and opens up idvd this error message "internal error in idvd at last session. this is not a movie" and then i cannot continue. i've tried to reinstall just idvd, and it still gave me the same error. i've tried reinstalling the entire ilife '09 and it still gives me that error and til now i am still unable to burn my movies i produced in imovie into a dvd using idvd. please please someone help. i'm running out of options and am puzzled at what's wrong.

Then you have obviously never mastered how to use that brilliant, and ludicrously cheap, application, with which I have made over 150 movies without the slightest problem.
IMO your problems are with iMovie 9 which some might describe as "the most hideous crock of ** any technology company has ever foisted on the public."

  • How do I manually restore a browsing session's tabs? Firefox did not reopen them after a computer freeze and shutdown.

Last night around 4 AM I was browsing in Firefox when my laptop suddenly froze. No mouse or ctl+alt+del responsiveness, nothing, just a frozen unresponsive screen, so after waiting a few moments in vain I forced a shutdown and restart with the power button. I've done this in the past without problems, but this time when I restarted my computer Firefox did not reopen my tabs automatically, or prompt me to restore the session. This is pretty alarming as I have plenty of websites tabbed and kept open permanently that I don't know if I will ever be able to find again. Can anyone give me help in manually restoring a previous session's tabs? I assume this information is stored somewhere on my computer, for Firefox's own use.

I suspect that Firefox doesn't store session history for private windows, but you could try rescuing all the sessionstore files in your currently active personal settings folder (also known as your Firefox profile folder) just in case.
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
That should take you to the critical folder. Try copying all sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files to a different location (e.g., Documents) where there's no danger of Firefox overwriting them.
If you check the timestamps, can you tell which one has the best chance of having your old windows and tabs? Open that one in a text editor. You may need to turn on text wrapping. If you can remember any text from the URL or title of the page you were viewing, try searching in the text to see whether you can find it. If not, the quest may be futile.

  • Reopen All Windows from Last Session is not working

The option Reopen All Windows from Last Session is not working, is there any other way to recover the tabs from my last session?
Last night I fell asleep and my friend shut down my laptop.
When I woke up in the morning I couldn't restore my last session which had several tabs opened for my research.
I don't know the exact date when I found them, so I haven't been able to find them in History either.
I've looked around on the internet, but haven't been able to find anything that helped me out.
Hope you can help me! Thanks.

    Restart your Mac.
Check the box for:  Reopen windows when logging back in
Then check History >  Reopen Windows from Last Session

  • Firefox does not reopen tabs from previous session

    Hi,
When I start firefox it does not reopen the tabs I had open from the previous time Firefox was open, despite following suggestions in other support articles mentioning a similar problem.
I have seen these other similar problems and solutions in the support forums but none of them describe exactly my problem and none of their solutions fix my problem:
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/800462#answer-154670
    http://support.mozilla.com/bn-BD/questions/796107#answer-151748
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/786128#answer-139770
As suggested in the above articles I have gone to about:config and ensured that all of
    browser.tabs.warnOnClose
    browser.warnOnQuit
    browser.warnOnRestart
    browser.showQuitWarning
    are set to true.
With all the above set to true I have also tried in
Options -> General -> Startup -> When Firefox Starts
    varying the setting between
"Show my windows and tabs from last time"
    and
    "Show my homepage"
When I have this set to "Show my homepage" Firefox does ask me when I'm closing it down if I would like to save my tabs for next time. I select Save and Quit, yet when I reopen Firefox it opens only a single tab, my homepage.
When I have it set to "Show my windows and tabs from last time" Firefox does NOT ask me when I'm closing it down if I would like to save my tabs for next time. When I reopen Firefox it opens only a single tab, my homepage.

I ddin't have this problem ubtil today! If I closed Firefox with open tabs, then when I reopened Firefox, the tabs were there. It was like that first thing this morning but now, at 10:37, it warns me when I try to close it with multiple tabs open and when I reopen Firefox it reopens without the previous tabs! I have opted for "show my windows and tabs from previous session". Restore previous session is inoperative. Presumably, there's been another update which has caused this, as with the RSS feeds disappearing.
