Latest Desktop update no help with Contacts synch problem!

I had hoped that the latest update would solve the greyed out Contacts synch option. No such luck! I have not been able to synch contacts for the past 3 months.  
And you wonder why Blackberry stock continues to fall?  This will probably be my last Blackberry if something doesn't change soon!

Knowing nothing more that what you put into this post, I can only make guesses...no, I didn't go back and try to find if you have another thread that is related...if you do, then you might be better to bump that thread so that the history can be included...
In any event, also not knowing how exactly you installed the latest Desktop Software, I can't be sure if you did it totally "clean" or not...if you want to try that, here's a process that's worked for some folks:

    You do not have to partition your drive - Parallels creates a disk image which contains your Windows installation. You do have to exercise anti-virus measures in the Windows partition, although such malware cannot affect the Mac filesystem.

  • I need help with contacts.

    Ok, I just recently got the Iphone 4s.  I need some help with contacts.  I ended up adding my hotmail contacts to my phone and now every time I add a new contact, it adds the person to my hotmail contacts instead of my All On My Iphone contacts.  I don't like it because I am adding phone numbers, not necessarily with email addresses. 
    If you sent me a message right now and I went in and added you as a contact, it adds you to my hotmail contacts instead of my iphone ones for some reason.  How can I fix this?  And if I delete my hotmail account temporarily (and re-add it) will I lose the contacts that my phone put in there mistakenly? 

    Well, I don't care if it makes a back-up of my contacts in my hotmail. But, I would like my contacts to go to my actual phone contacts.  I call and text much more than I email and it would be nice to have to not wade through my email contacts to find someone I am looking to text, etc. 
    I know it's not a huge hassle, but I prefer to keep the people I contact most within my text/phone contacts, rather than email. 
    Also, if I opt to change my email service (hotmail gets a lot of spam), I don't want to lose phone/text contacts because I no longer use that email anymore. 
    I wouldn't even care if they appeared in both, for my most contacted. I just would like to have them in my phone book without having to add them all by hand.

    I am was given a new iMac G3 (from 2001) which was really never used.I have not yet had any serious problems with it, but really could use some help with a browser problem.
    I have 4 different web browsers that needs the macro media flash player update. The browsers I use are internet explorer, iCab, Netscape, and the original Mozilla Firefox.
    It would be of great appreciation for the readers of this post to answer my question.

    As Tom has suggested, plugins need to be installed in the Plug-Ins folder for the browser.
    Typically each browser will have its own Plug-Ins folder, usually located in the same folder containing the browser itself. In order for each of several browsers to access the same plugins, the plugins must be replicated and placed in each of the Plug-Ins folders for each of the browsers. The easy way to do that is to hold down the Option key while dragging a plugin to the new location - a copy (not an alias) of the plugin will be generated at the location it is dragged to.
    Most plugins will display a Netscape icon regardless of where they are located - this is normal.
    It is not unusual for the installer for a plugin to default its install to the Plug-Ins folder for Internet Explorer. So be it. Just replicate the new plugin to the other Plug-Ins folders as needed.
    Note that some plugin installs will involve more than one item. For those, be sure to replicate all items for it. Using labels can help identify what is new, what has been most recently added, in a Plug-Ins folder.

    I tried to restore from back up but this was the first time I connected my phone to my computer so when I ran backup my contacts did not return.  When I go to mobileme.com my calandar shows up but not my contacts.  I could cry.

    All of the music is still on my computer, but when I play it through iTunes, it either buffers first (when I'm connected to the internet) or it is greyed out (offline) and I can't listen to it.
    This is beyond annoying. Is there anything I can do to sort this out?

  • Gmail not loading after latest Safari update - the one with the Top Sites

    After the latest Safari update - the one including the Top Sites feature - I can no longer open any messages in on gmail - it tells me that some of the features of gmail cannot be loaded due to problems with my connections. I can use other sites without any trouble, so I think that my connection is good. Also, when I try to use the older version of gmail, this doesn't work either. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? Please help - this is very frustrating... Thanks in advance to everyone who will reply and offer an explanation and a possible solution.

    I have a GoogleUpdateSofware folder which contains GoogleUpdateSoftware bundle and a folder named Ticket Store. Can this be causing the problem?
    Possible. One way to test is to go to the Finder. There, drag the Google folder to the desktop, then restart Safari. If that doesn't resolve the problem, return that folder to its original location. Then, try Safari from another User Account.
    If necessary, you can create a User Account in System Preferences>Accounts. Log on to the other account and open Safari. If gmail works there, then the problem is specific to your regular user account. In that case, log-in to your regular user account. There, open Safari. Safari Menu>Reset Safari. Select "empty cache", and "clear history", then select "reset". Restart Safari and try gmail.
    If it doesn't work in the other user account, then the problem is system-wide. If that's the case I'll post suggestions after you let me know what you discovered.

  • Outlook 2007 contact synch problems with iCloud

    Running into difficulties synching iCloud 1.0.1 contacts with Outlook 2007.  It freezes/crashes outlook quite regularly. The contacts properly synched the the first time but now I'm getting "Couldn't save changes to x items" when Outlook tries to synch with iCloud. The reason given for a particuliar contact is "got no rsrc name for msg?!".  If i try again, same message. The other option it to 'delete' which then deletes the contact(s) showing up in the error message from icloud folder in outlook but does not affect them in iCloud. I have no contacts in the default outlook folder. I am only using iCloud contacts on PC and iphone 4s.
    The iCloud addin is enabled for Outlook. I removed "contacts with outlook" in the iCloud control panel and re-enabled but this did not fix the problem.
    Any suggestions? I've searched for this error message apple's support but do not find any matches.

    OK, I bit the bullet and manually did the only "work around" that I could come up with. When the message, "got no rsrc name for msg?!" comes up I manually noted the 10 contacts at a time from Outlook that were giving problems and choose the only option which did something - I choose the "delete" button. It deletes those 10 contacts from Outlook's iCloud.  Taking note of which ones i deleted, then, using my iphone - I located those contacts in the iCloud (as it doesn't delete them from the cloud, but neither are then in Outlook) and made a small modification to each one - e.g. adding a period in the note field, saved and exited the contact. Then I went back to Outlook and refreshed from the iCloud. Sometimes you have to wait 3-4 mintues for the update to come through. If you get a message about a new batch of 10 contacts that have synch error problems, you will need to "X" out and close the dialog box. Sometimes only a few of the modified contacts come through and you need to go back to the cloud via phone a modify those straggler contacts again (adding another period, etc.)
    Once all the previously deleted contacts come back into Outlook's iCloud folder, check them off your list as complete. Refresh iCloud on Outlook (mine has a button for this at the top of Outlook bar). You should get your next batch of 10 conflicts.  Go thru the WHOLE process for ALL of your Outlook contacts.
    I am pleased to say this consumed half of my Saturday doing this incredibly boring and tedious workaround for an obvious bug.  I had about 250 contacts. I pity anyone that has 500+ contacts...you many as well throw the PoS phone out and go with an android.
    Problem fixed, no more Outlook crashing/hanging or contact synch 'errors'.

    Internet stopped working after installing the latest firmware update. WiFi still connects to router, our other mac desktop still connects to internet as usual (same network). I can't even re-install the MBA OS since it needs an internet connection!!!
    Any ideas?

    FIXED.
    I swapped our wireless router for a newer one, internet seems to work fine again (we were sent a new one by our internet provider which we never set up until now).

    So I want to sync a phone number with a certain email account, right? I go to my list and only two of my emails is available. I check Default Services under Advanced Options and it's not there. The email in question is selectable when I want to choose which account to send a message from. I've gone through the host service business, deleted and undeleted, and no change. Thoughts?

    First, be sure that the contacts on the devices are in the "icloud" section and not the "On my iPhone" (or iPad) section of the contact listings/groups.
    Missing contacts:
    Here's a test to perform - using a computer's browser, log into icloud.com and go to the Contacts page.  If most of them are gone, then they are gone. 
    If they show up, then the problem is that your device is not connecting to the Contacts database on icloud. 
    On the device, go to Settings>icloud.  Be sure icloud is on and using the right ID.  If not, scroll to the bottom of the page and tap Delete Account - this just disconnects the device from that account, no data is lost.  Then log back in using the correct ID.  ALSO - be sure the Contacts are turned on (on the same screen).
    Note:  Contacts are not part of an iCloud backup, since they are part of contacts database on iCloud's servers.   So performing a restore will not help.
    Contacts are gone from icloud.com.
    Then they have been deleted.  There are many reasons for this.  One possibility is that someone else is using the same iCloud account (family member, etc.) and they deleted contacts, thinking they did want them on THEIR device.  How to get them back?  Unfortunately, an iCloud backup does not include any of the sync databases, like contacts, notes, calendars, reminders, etc. because the data is already stored in these databases.  Your only hope for restoring the data is if you had that data on a computer (like a mac's Contacts, Calendars, etc.) and that data was backed up using whatever backup software you typically use (e.g. Time Machine on a mac).  Just restore the data files back to the computer.  Other than that, I'm afraid the data is gone.

    Hi,
    there is a contact form on my site and it works to submit a message, but it always has my name as sender in it and my email adress to reply to!
    This is a form where customers are booking appointments, the shop always thinks that the emails are coming from me!
    I checked site manager - system emails - but what am I supposed to put in as from email? It should use the customers email, which will change all the time.
    I need help with that fast!

    Hello Cat
    The "From" email is the email that will be displayed as the sender of the email (although the email is always sent from our servers), so it is not the customer's email address. You can set it to any email address, that can be your client's email address too, so when a reply is sent, the reply would be sent to the client. This is about the email that is sent to the visitors of the site, also known as the "Autoresponder" email.

    Maybe it will help with your case sensitivity problem. It basically says to perform a secondary comparison based on Hex or Decimal values of the returned usernames/passwords. Not optimal, but that's what you get for using Access and not a production quality DB (IMHO). It's not like there aren't free ones out there.
    As far as your "quote" problem. Are you saying that trying something like this doesn't work?:

    }Of course you need to catch exceptions, etc. But the general idea should work. You see Access doesn't need to provide PreparedStatements, the driver (I assume JDBC-ODBC bridge) should.

    If anyone can help with this I’d be much appreciated, I have a N95 on contract with T-Mobile. When I try to play videos from myspace, or you tube etc… I get a message telling me the following.
    “Hello, Either you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of macromedia's flash player click here to get the latest flash player”.
    I then get the option of clicking on a link within the previous sentence statement that directs me to acrobat downloads home page where I get the following message.
    “We are unable to locate a web player that matches your platform and browser. Please visit our table of recommended web players”
    This is deeply frustrating as in nearly every other way I feel the phone is perfect. If Any one can hep me fix this problem I’d be much appreciated.

  • Desperately need help with a recognition problem

    Running on Windows XP Home Edition.
    I have had a problem with my 30gig ipod video since the start of the month. Whenever I plug it in, windows displays a "Usb Device not recognized.
    One of the usb decives attatched to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it.".
    For the past few days i've crawled through search engines and forums searching for a fix but nothing i've tried seems to work. I've tried using different usb ports, reinstalling the software, resetting my ipod but none of ipod's 5 r's worked. In device manager, it just pops up as "unknown device".
    I've tried updating the driver with my disc but all I get is "the wizard could not find a better match for your hardware than the software you currently have installed" and when I click on it's driver details I get a "no driver files are required or have been loaded for this device" message.
    Also, sometimes (usually after a reset) the ipod would appear as charging even though it actually isn't. The iPod seemed to work for the guy at the computer shop (who also charged it for me) while using the same usb cable, I took it back and he restored it form me but to no avail. I've tried turning off my firewalls and I hadn't installed any new programs between when my ipod was and wasn't recognized. Yet another thing worth mentioning would be that my computer wasn't turned off properly the night before it stopped working and that I had to hold down the power button as the comp was stuck on "Saving settings" (Yes. I am an idiot) which is my money on what caused the problem, but i'm not 100% as I have been forced to do this a couple of times before. =S.
    I would really appreciate any help solving this problem.

    If you've tried everything else, one other thing to try is to run Registry Mechanic -- you can download it for free and run diagnosis, but need to pay for full version that actually fixes any problems it finds.
    I had exact same problem with two iPods on same computer suddenly (the original 4th gen 60G photo, and the 5th gen 60G video I bought to replace it because I thought it was a hardware problem with iPod.) Neither was recognized (in windows/ in device manager/in iTunes). Sometimes they would charge while connected, but other times they would appear to charge but actually be draining charge.
    I tried everything, over about 12 hours spread across a week, but it was after running Registry Mechanic that my new iPod 60g video was finally recognized.
    My hypothesis is that between all the Microsoft windows security updates I download, and the iPod new software updates, some kind of error was created in the registry.
    Still doesn't seem to recognize my 4th gen 60G iPod though...
