Launch an ios app using hyperlink in the mail
Hi,
I want to launch an ios app using a hyperlink in the mail and sms. I tried but not able to launch because while tapping on link it target to safari to launch that link not to the os.
example :- There is an app installed in the device with the scheme name "abc".
So the hyperlink for the app would be abc://
While I am sending this url in the mail ans open the mail then it's not able to launch the app.
Thanks
Are you sure the Info.plist of the abc app is correct?

Anyone profiled iOS app using FlashBuilder?
We're making an iOS app using Flash Professional. I also use Flash builder for my editing.
the application also unfortunately uses AIR-specific features, such as SQLite database and NativeApplication references.
I've had luck before using the profiler by just profiling as a web application (which is what gets created when I do "create new Flash Professional Project..." in FlashBuilder.
But I am stuck on how to get FlashBuilder profiler working on this project because it always wants to launch the thing in a web browser, which can't function due to the AIR-only features.
Anyone ever gotten this combination to work? I *so* wish I could just start from an MXML wrapper and load my FLA as a swf, but silly iOS restrictions force me to have just one SWF with all my code in it.
thanks!Hi ericmathew
iPhone 6 & iPhone6+ require different Launch Images than older phones:
For Example,
For iPhone 6 : Default-375w-667h@2x~iphone.png
And iPhone6+ : Default-414w-736h@3x~iphone.png

IOS app using AS3 not fitting screen dimensions
I'm building an iOS app using as3 and air to package the app onto my iPhone 6. My issue is that I get a black bar above and below the app, the app itself is not going fullscreen. The stage screen is set to the iPhone 6 screen dimensions.
I have tried by adding the following launch images into the app folder; [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected] But it's not being displayed properly.
Does anyone have any fixes for this?Hi ericmathew

On my IPad 2 home screen, the mail app used to indicate the number of new messages with a number in a red circle, next to the app. This has vanished, I think about the same time as when I upgraded to the new OS. Does anyone know why and how to restore this feature?
Thanks. While you were replying to my question, I went into notifications and figured
it out. Appreciate the quick response! -
I am having a problem deleting all but one particular mail message from my inbox. I delete by either using the trash can icon for individual mail, or using edit, selecting the mail message (s) and clicking delete. However there is this one mail message that will not go away regardles of what I do including deleting all from the trash. Any ideas?
I get that every once in a while on my 3GS, and that's what I do to get rid of it. Probably not a bad idea to power down the phone every so often, anyway, gets rid of any crud waiting to cause a bug.
Glad to hear that it worked for you. -
I have an app that has been on the App Store for months that has been running just fine for almost everyone.
However, I was contacted many months ago by a single user that had been using our app for months without any issues, but all of a sudden they started having a problem with our app "crashing on launch everytime". Making the app completely non-functional.
Even rebooting their device didn't help the issue. The only thing that fixed this issue for them was to delete the app from their device and then reinstall it. Then the app started working again properly. As our app tracks useful data for the user, deleting the app also deleted all their saved data that was stored in a SQLite DB by the app, which was less than ideal.
More recently I had another person contact me about the same issue and then it started happening on one of my own devices, which is really starting to scare me that the problem could be much more widespread that I initially thought. I created a new debug build and tried to debug the issue on my own device, but upon running the debug build the problem mysteriously went away and now the app launches again with no issues.
Initially I thought that the app's SQLite DB might be getting corrupted somehow (as one of the individuals indicated that they had run out of storage space on their device when the problem happened). As we access the DB a few times during the launch sequence I thought that a corrupt DB file might be causing the crash. However, after running a debug build on the device that was having the fail to launch issue the problem suddenly mysteriously fixed itself, the app was able to access the DB and all the data in it without issues.
After checking for Crash Reports in iTunes Connect, there is now a new "Timeout on Launch 0% of submitted timeouts" entry that wasn't there before. Along with a new “Resident Private Memory Size" entry that lists "Average = 0.0B and Maximum 0.0B".
I also had one crash log that I’ve included below. The crash log seems to indicate that the app is failing to resume in time and I believe that the iOS is thus killing the app before it has a chance to start. As iOS thinks it is taking too long to start up. Although iOS seems to be killing my app after only 0.590 seconds according to the crash file. Also on my own device the app would shut down and dump me back to the home screen within 3 seconds of the app icon being tapped on. The splash screen flashes up briefly and then the app goes away. As the app barely has time to display the default splash screen, I doubt it is even getting a chance to run any actual code before getting shut down.
I’m a bit stumped as to why the app would work fine for months and then all of a sudden the iOS would start to decide killing it on launch. If indeed that is what is happening. I’m not all that great a reading/understanding this crash logs. Also why reinstalling the same version of the app would make the problem go away completely. Unless the DB access is getting way too slow for some reason and causing a timeout.
Any help/ideas that anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I made some changes to the launch sequence in my app to make it more robust in the hopes that it would address the issue. However, after checking the iTunes Connect crash reports I did eventually receive a new crash report with those changes that looks almost identicle to the old one I had, so the problem still remains present and remains a mystery. -
Unable To Build iOS App Using Native Extension
I’m trying to create a native extension for iOS and use that extension as part of an IPA app for iOS I create from a SWF file using the ADT tool (i.e. the normal use-case for iOS). Note: I have already successfully created the native extension and APK app for Android and now I am trying to build the iOS side.
I have been primarily using the information found at the following websites:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/articles/building-ane-ios-android-pt3.html
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/articles/building-ane-ios-android-pt5.html
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/build/WS901d38e593cd1bac35eb7b4e12cddc5fbbb-8000.html
I have also searched the Adobe forums for the answer to my question without success.
The error I receive is:

I am using XCode to build MyExtensionIOSLibrary.m into a library file with a .a filename extension. My relevant build settings are:
iOS Deployment Target: iOS 5.1
Architectures: armv7
Build Active Architectures Only: No
Product Scheme: Release
Compile Sources As: Objective-C
Any ideas? Please help. Thanks for the reply.
yes.I've created a static library with 3rd party frameworks and pulled the .a from product folder(Debug-iphoneos).
and the framework didn't work(armv7 not supported error occurs ..don't know why) with it's original folder structure .
so I followed below link to change folders inside the 3rd party framework and figured out but now the application crashes on startup without giving an error message. .

Leaving data roaming ON while abroad: what apps use data in the background?
As a quick preface, I've had an iPhone since Week 1 in the summer of 2007. I've been working outside the U.S. for well over a year now, so I've been roaming with my iPhone for almost the entire time I've owned it. I had kept data roaming turned OFF since the fall of '07, when a software update brought it as an option, but visual voicemail continued to work as always even when data roaming was OFF (under software versions 1.x).
After hearing about the early bugs with iPhone software v2.0, I stuck with the last version of 1.x until about a month ago. While I like almost everything about 2.2, I was dismayed to notice that visual voicemail no longer worked if data roaming was turned OFF. (Apparently, the visual voicemail "loophole," for lack of a better phrase, was closed with 2.0 or a subsequent version of the software.)
This has left me facing a conundrum: Turning data roaming ON might leave me susceptible to a big data roaming bill, while leaving it OFF leaves me in the dark as far as the existence and Caller ID of new voicemail(s).
QUESTION: Does anyone know of the DEFINITIVE list of which iPhone apps use data roaming in the background? That is, if I leave data roaming ON but NEVER use the email app or Safari or YouTube or any other app that accesses the internet and would incur data charges (or, at least, never use any of those apps unless connected to a WiFi network), which apps will use data in the background anyway, WITHOUT me actually launching the app?
Back in the 1.x versions, I'm not aware of any apps that used data unless the user actually launched an app, but I've noticed that, under 2.2, Apple's App Store app routinely connects to the internet on its own to check for updates if I have data roaming enabled. (I'd like to turn this OFF, but doing so doesn't appear to be an option.)
I'm hoping App Store is the only app that has this (bad) behavior, and that I'd be safe leaving data roaming ON while consciously avoiding using data over the EDGE network, but I have no idea if apps like Stocks, YouTube, Weather, etc., have been updated, in 2.x or even 2.2, to check for updates in the background, and thus run up data roaming charges.
If anyone can shed any light on this, it would be much appreciated. Thanks very much. The iPhone is officially unlocked and can be used with whatever provider/SIM card.
But imagine, we are a team of around 20 people, travelling to all kind of different countries all over the world (changing, not the same person is always travelling to the same countries), and of course (I didn't mention this in my first post), we also have to stay in contact by phone. In addition, also whatsapp is based on the phone number as far as I know, which is our main "quick" communication tool. It would never work out that all of us inform the others all the time about the changing phone numbers, depending on which country each individual is at the moment.
Your answer unfortunately just confirmed what my researches so far resulted in... there really seems to be no apple-like easy solution to manage data roaming for apps individually. In the beginning I was sure to quickly find something in the appstore, since I assume my situation is not such an exception. I guess I have to start learning how to program apps! :-)
Anyway, thanks for your answer! As I mentioned before, every idea is appreciated. -
Using GMail as the mail app doesn't work
I have Firefox 11.0, OS X 10.7.3 Lion. In Firefox, I go to Preferences / Applications, and set the default MailTo app handler as GMail. I restarted Firefox, when I click on a mailto link nothing happens (just the click highlight). I installed Google Notifier, and when I launch the Mail app, I made sure the default mail program is Google Notifier. Still doesn't work.
Interestingly enough, clicking a hyperlink from Safari works great - launches Firefox tab with a new message composed.
-
I want to create an iOS app and for a variety of reasons (subscription, multiplatform, etc) I can't use the Apple app-store payment sytem.
However, if the user creates and account with my iOS app and we then email the user at a later date. Can they upgrade from the link in the email, or is that against Apple policy as well?
Thanks!
Ryani am faceing a file download problem too..........
i am protecting jboss application,,,,using apache, and jk....
all work fine except for open a file(word, excel, txt, etc).
Disable the policy domain, everything goes just fine. microsoft file dialogue opens, you can open the file directly, or save it to your computer........
Enable the policy domain,, you can only save the file to your computer(file content is also correct),,,but cannot open it directly.it says the file path could not be found......but if the word/excel application is already running, you can open it fine...
PS:not a computer issue,,,every computers faceing the same problem
any avoice from you is good to me...............thanks very much -
10.6 iOS app rejection - teasing out the specifics?
Our Augmented Reality app was rejected under 10.6 (I've pasted the full text below). In my understanding from reading a lot of rejection threads elsewhere on the web this can actually cover quite a broad range of rejections, including the explicitly mentioned poor quality UI, apps that could be websites, apps with little functionality, and apps that include graphics assets that apple are not happy about (possibly copyrighted etc). These specifics are usually noted in the latter paragraphs. In our case Im a little confused by them as they dont seem to apply due to the complexity of the app.
Ive attached shots of the app - one while running, the other after hitting the picture button with the sharing options up. The app is predominately aimed at young asian women into nail art culture, and matches our branding in use of typography and colour. The gems on the menu slowly rotate, making a shifting, abstract-looking shape either side of the options.
Is this a straight UI quality issue? Does it look confusing or too low quality visually compared to other apps? Or is it possible the reviewer thought it was just a camera app and didnt get the AR working for some reason (hence the additional iOS functionality comments)? It definitely couldnt be an HTML 5 app, but I do wonder what made the reviewer add that paragraph in particular.
I have sent a message asking for clarification, but things seem slow there at the moment, and I know theres a good chance they wont be willing to talk specifics.
10.6
We found the user interface of your app is not of sufficient quality to be appropriate for the App Store. Apps that provide a poor user experience are not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines.
It would be appropriate to incorporate additional iOS functionality within your application.
Please evaluate whether you can make the necessary revisions to improve the user experience of your app.
If you cannot - or choose not to - revise your app to be in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines, you may wish to build an HTML5 web app instead. You can distribute web apps directly on your web site; the App Store does not accept or distribute web apps.
HTML5 is the major new version of HTML and enables audio and video to play natively in the browser without requiring proprietary plug-ins. <I've cut the rest of this - details on HTML5 apps>Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and check the processor.
If it's a Core Duo Mac, you must install the DVD version of iWork. If you previously got a compatible version of Numbers from the Mac App Store, go to its home page and click on Support under Quick Links.
If it's a Core 2 Duo or better Mac, try purchasing Mac OS X 10.8 from the Mac App Store. If you get told that it's incompatible, phone the online Apple Store and order a download code for 10.7.
If upgrading to 10.7 or 10.8 requires any other upgrades or replacements(they both require at least 2GB RAM and don't support PowerPC-only software such as Office 2004), it may be cheaper to buy and install the DVD version of iWork even if your computer can be upgraded to use the Mac App Store version.

Create iOS app using edge animate and DPS
I was investigating the potential for using edge animate compositions and digital publishing suite to create single edition iOS apps.
After some trial and error I have been able to create a basic iOS app for kids, using EA and DPS. The app was approved and placed in the app store. See the below link:
https://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=786031451&mt=8
For future reference do you have specific documentation/guidelines on using EA compositions to create DPS single edition apps? I was hoping to get a better understanding of the potential for using html5 compositions in iOS apps (and limitations).Hi, Andrew-
What specifically are you looking for? It's unclear if you're looking for best practices or other documentation. Thanks,

Can I use hotmail with the Mail app?
I looked at the mail app, but didn't see hotmail in there. Can I use it on the touch after upgrading?
I had this question as well. i don't think MSN or Hotmail allows the enabling of pop mail. Therefore it cannot be used unless you subscribe it to a pop mail client. I just switched over to gmail to maike things easier. But would love to find out an answer to this question

Does any one know how to set up hotmail on the mail app like what the in an out going "host name" would be
if you know how to set it up please let me knowdoes not seem like iPod touch support industry standards like HTTP mail account type. iPod touch only supports POP, IMAP and Exchange.
Five options to get hotmail to work for you:
1. Upgrade your hotmail to Hotmail Plus.
Note this will cost you about $20 per year. The you can get the POP details and use this.
2. With IzyMail, you can access Hotmail

3. Use Safari and read your hotmail e-mail.
4. Forward all your hotmail to gmail and use gmail.
5. ask someone from apple to add support for HTTP. -

Hi, my dog ate the original power cable that came with Touro Desk 2TB (external HD). I had to buy another power cable, but this time was a generic. The external HD is turning on fine, but iMac is not detecting it. I hope it's because of the new power
