Layer Backgrounds

Hi,
I need help with setting a background color for a layer. I'm
Confused.
When I select a layer and go to the property inspector "bg
color", I change the background color and it changes in design
view, but when I preview it in a browser it is transparent still.
What am I missing?

Here's your CSS.
Please note that none of your widths have a unit of
measurement.(px, for
example)
Some of the heights do, and some of the positions do. Some
don't.<style
type="text/css">
#Banner {
position:absolute;
left:0px;
top:0px;
width:760; <--------- 760 what?
height:70; <-------------
z-index:1;
visibility: visible;
background-color: #CCCCCC;
#Navigation {
position:absolute;
left:0;
top:71; <---------------
width:125; <-------------
height:565px;
z-index:2;
visibility: visible;
background-color: #CCCCCC;
#Content {
position:absolute;
left:126px;
top:71; <------------------
width:634; <----------------
z-index:3;
visibility: visible;
height: 565; <-----------------
#Footer {
position:absolute;
left:0px;
top:637px;
width:760; <----------------
height:70; <-------------------
z-index:4;
visibility: visible;
background-color: #CCCCCC;
Fix these and you should see a big difference.Take
care,Tim"Murray *ACE*"

  • Layer Background color not support on AP Element

    Hi I am new to dreamweaver. I just started learning how to
    use it, and I can't figure out why when I am validating the
    browser, I kept on getting a message that the layer background
    color is not supported in the AP element. I looked at my code and
    it seems fine. All I did was just insert the AP layer and I change
    the background color. Is there something I am doing wrong?

    Thank you. That's telling you that layer-background-color is
    NOT supported
    in those browsers (in fact, it's invalid HTML, being
    supported only in IE5
    and earlier). You should use CSS to specify colors, not the
    Property
    inspector, and you will avoid such traps. In fact, in CS3,
    when you use the
    Property inspector, the proper CSS is written in the
    stylesheet for you.

  • Images in Layer Background

    The images for my layer backgrounds do not showup when I load
    the page to a remote server, but it does in preview mode... anyone
    know why and how to fix this?

    check your links... do they show the image links on your
    local drive? (like
    C:\images\....)
    If so, make sure they are site relative and try again.
    Do your images have any spaces or special characters in their
    file names?
    remove those and re-put them.
    Did you actually put the images on the remote server? (Yeah,
    dumb question
    but I'm searching for possible answers)
    Other than that, post a link to your site so we can look at
    the code.

  • Background image covers layer background.....

    How is this for simple?
    http://www.animalcrackerspetsupply.com/BlankPage.html
    What you are supposed to see, but are not seeing, is a "mango" colored box in the middle of the page. It shows up perfectly fine in Dreamweaver, but does not show up when I preview or upload it to any browser. I have done this previously with just a color on the page background instead of an image and it worked fine, (http://animalcrackerspetsupply.com/index.html) but I cannot make it work with this image as the background!
    I have tried playing with z-index and visibility and nothing works. Other layers on the page show up just fine (ex: http:www.animalcrackerspetsupply.com/Index1.html).
    What gives? I am using Dreamweaver 8 (because I can't afford CS5!!)
    Thank you,
    Kelly

    It's there, just invisible because of no background color and no content.
    You forgot the # sign in front of the background color in the css:
        background-color: CC9966;
    instad of:
        background-color: #CC9966;

  • Want my layer background color to be white

    Was following along in "iceflowstudios.com" making stars and planets, or at least trying to learn how to, and at the very beginning he makes a layer and its white and my brush panel shows gray! my left side color panels show black and white and I have the white one on top and the preview panel in my brush window is gray. Oh my stars! Why isn't my brush preview panel white!? I don't know how to take a screen shot or I would do that here, now. thanks!

    Why do you use a dark Color Theme (Photoshop > Preferences > Interface)?
    For non-video work that would seem to be a poor choice.
    is there a short cut for screenshots on a mac?
    cm-shift-3 for the whole screen and cmd-shift-4 for a section

  • No image in background copy (after a duplicate layer)

    I Open an image.  Go to the Layers and select duplaclate layer.  However when I select the new layer background copy (and deselect the background ) they image is not there.  There is an image in the layers pane but nothing in the main screen just a checkered empty workspace.  I have tried to reset my preferences but none of the files in the list i have anywhere in my computer.  Has anyone seen this before.

    You will get that result if you turn off the eye in the Background layer and inadvertently set the Opacity slider for the Background Copy layer at 0%

  • Photosho CS Problem - Can't drag a layer set from one document to another one

    I have two documents open
    On the source document, i want to drag a layer set from this document to a new one, but its not letting me
    What would cause this.
    My structure for the source document is
    >Set 1 Layer Set
         >layer
         > Adjustment Layer
         >background
    Background
    Structure of the target document
    >Named Layer Set
         > Where I want to insert the Layer Set from source document
         >layer
         > Adjustment Layer
         >background
    Background

    No error message is given. I just can't drag it into the spot I want to drag the layer set to (its not an individual layer, its a layer set)
    Basically, this is all I can do (have to do a correction on how the layers and layer sets work, missing one level from the original post):
    I've attached images as well to illustrate
    On my target document, I want to have the layer set go where the red text is:
    >Content Layer Set
         >Named Layer Set
              > Where I want to insert the Layer Set from source document (Set 1)
              >layer
              > Adjustment Layer
              >background
    Background
    right now, I can only drag the layer set to this position:
    >Content Layer Set
          > This is where the Set 1 from the source document can go, I can't drag it into the layer set below
         >Named Layer Set
              >layer
              > Adjustment Layer
              >background
    Background
    First Image I attached shows the Set 1 Layer Set, above the layer set I want to drag it into
    Second Image I attached shows what happens when I try to drag the layer set into the named layer set; it comes up with the "no symbol"
    No Error message is given

  • Problem with layer sets opening

    Hi,
    I have a problem open layer sets. In my script I get layers index and then iterate throught this layers.
    Here is the script:

           function getNumberLayers(){
           var ref = new ActionReference();
           ref.putProperty( charIDToTypeID("Prpr") , charIDToTypeID("NmbL") )

           return executeActionGet(ref).getInteger(charIDToTypeID("NmbL"));
           function hasBackground() {
               var ref = new ActionReference();
               ref.putProperty( charIDToTypeID("Prpr"), charIDToTypeID( "Bckg" ));
               ref.putEnumerated(charIDToTypeID( "Lyr " ),charIDToTypeID( "Ordn" ),charIDToTypeID( "Back" ))//bottom Layer/background

               var res = typeIDToStringID(type);
               return res

               var ref = new ActionReference();
               ref.putProperty( charIDToTypeID("Prpr") , charIDToTypeID( "Vsbl" ));
               ref.putIndex( charIDToTypeID( "Lyr " ), idx );

           var cnt = getNumberLayers()+1;
           var res = new Array();
           if(hasBackground()){

              }else{
        var i = 1;

    var groups = getAllLayersByIndex();
        for(var i = groups.length-1; i >= 0 ; i--) {
          makeActiveByIndex( groups[i], true );
          ....working with layers....
    I think, my problem is in function makeActiveByIndex, because it doesn't make active a folder and doesn't open it.
    You can see it on this picture. Active layer set is "Skupina 1" and it is in layer set "hlavicka". But "hlavicka" is not open. WHY??
    Can you help me fix this problem??
    Thank you Domaneni

  • Canvas background color slightly off

    I notice this with certain colors more, but it seems like even if I paint the background the same exact color as my layer background, the canvas color is not exactly the same. I'm assuming it's a color management/profile kind of issue, but I keep that stuff off, so I'm not sure what's causing this. Has anyone had a similar experience?
    Thanks,
    -Onur

    Say what?
    Could you post a screenshot with the Layers Panel visible because I don’t quite follow?
    I'm assuming it's a color management/profile kind of issue, but I keep that stuff off, so I'm not sure what's causing this.
    How exactly did you do that and how do you suppose it should affect you if you have turned it »off«?
    Are you talking about multiple images or one?

  • Partially locked layer, but no icon highlighted under 'lock'

    I have not previoulsy experienced this problem. It just started.
    1. I try to use any auto correction such as tone, and nothing appears to change
    2. I see the small layers 'background' icon flashing as I do this into the black and white check pattern
    3. It seems that the layer background is partially locked- (when I scroll my mouse over the 'lock' icon this is written)
    Yet there is no icon above in 'lock' that is highlighted. So I cannot unlock it.
    I am able to adjust in all other methods which are not auto corrections.
    Perhaps I changed some settings accidentally?

    Yes a background layer can not be unlocked for a background layer does not support transparency.  So unlocking its transparency is invalid not an available option.  You must convert the layer to a normal layer that supports transparency. If you want to transform its size, mask it, change its opacity etc..

  • Edit hidden images in layer

    Hello,
    I build a site in Dreamweaver 8. It contains a layer with
    hidden images by using Behaviors.
    I want to edit these images in Contribute CS3. Deleting some
    and add new ones.
    When I open the webpage in Contribute, I only can see the
    image on top. Is it possible to edit all the (hidden) images under
    the top-image?
    Thank you!

    check your links... do they show the image links on your
    local drive? (like
    C:\images\....)
    If so, make sure they are site relative and try again.
    Do your images have any spaces or special characters in their
    file names?
    remove those and re-put them.
    Did you actually put the images on the remote server? (Yeah,
    dumb question
    but I'm searching for possible answers)
    Other than that, post a link to your site so we can look at
    the code.

  • How to save work seperate from background

    Hi,
    I want to know how to save the image that I created separately from the background so I can use the image as an icon or something else. I am new in web design, when I tried so hard to make something in photoshop I ended up the bloody back ground is 10 times bigger than my work (image) and it distorts the web layout.
    Bottom line, I need to know how to save something as an icon or maybe object without the dam white background.

    <br />
    <br />couldnt post psd file. The site doesnt seem working properly.
    <br />
    <br />Now you can simulate my steps by create a new layer/background by clicking new and chose default photoshop size then pick up custom shape tool, chose a shape to draw with, envelop is the case. Keep along with your instruction.
    <br />
    <br />Tell me do you have any problem saving it as the way we want ?

  • Photoshop Applescript, select a layer and fill?

    How do I select a layer than I have named "BACKGROUND"
    Then fill with White,
    then select layer "Main Image"
    within Photoshop?
    Many Thanks
    Matt

    Hi,
    Here is an example :
    tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS5"
          tell current document
                deselect -- deselect all in the document
                set current layer to layer "BACKGROUND" -- select
                tell current layer to if not visible then set visible to true -- must be visible to fill
                --- fill the current layer with White , adjust (blend mode, opacity and preserving transparency)
                fill selection with contents {class:RGB color, red:255, green:255, blue:255} blend mode normal opacity 100 without preserving transparency
                set current layer to layer "Main Image" -- select
          end tell
    end tell

  • How do i move the second layer?

    I can move the first layer (background) however I'm having trouble moving the second layer.

    What does that layer contain? A normal pixel layer, you can use the move tool {v}. A shape layer you can use the direct selection tool {a} make sure the layer is selected first, then with the direct selection tool click on the path to move. You can also use the group selection tool this moves the object only whereas the direct selection tool can select points on the path and move just those.
    If you are unsure, capture your entire screen with the layers panel open and any collapsed layers expanded. Then post it here.

  • Is there a workaround for Photoshop CS6 Histogram?

    I have noticed this and I am wondering if there is a more feasable workaround other than saving my work, closing the application and reopening the app.
    Here are the steps:
    Open a file (any file type compatible)
    Open the histogram window
    Open the layers window
    If one layer / Background unlock
    OR
    Open file with multiple layers (image, mask, or adjustment)
    In Layer window now deselect the background layer or all of the layers by clicking on the window below the layers (RIGHT under "Layer 0" in layer window)
    The histogram changes to B&W histogram
    The only way to revert to the previous Color display is to close PS CS6 and reopen it. Then you are back to the full histogram.
    When editing multiple layers in files, or compositing, this is really an issue and slows down workflow.
    Is there another workflow? I have attempted a couple workarounds but none have worked other than restart.
    Any idea what is happening? or is anyone else running into this?
    Just "Not selecting" is not an option.

    Seems like that has happened for several versions.
    To get back to Colors without restarting photoshop cs6, you can go to Expanded View and choose Colors from the drop-down list.
