LC/Acro 8.0 dynamic form resetting entered data

I have a dynamic form originally created using LC 7.1. The form was Saved As... using LC 8.0. The form has a table (in the Body Page) which adds rows via an addInstance button. The rows expand to fit the text. Two master pages are used as the second is a continuation sheet.
Using Acro Pro 8, I distributed it so that it could be completed and saved by a user with just Adobe Reader (7.08). Whilst completing the form, adding rows, entering data and regularly saving, I reached the bottom of the page and added an additional row (to spill over onto the continuation sheet), however all the data disappeared from the completed fields (all the fields except check boxes). The same happens when the table row expands to accommodate the text, thereby spilling over onto the continuation sheet (2nd master page). It also looks as though the RemoveInstance manager resets the form data when I delete a row and there is no script telling it to do this.
Even purging the cache, closing down, and reopening the Saved form doesn't recover the lost data!
So am I misunderstanding the licence limitations of this upgrade or is it a bug with the InstanceManager? If you are supposed to be able to complete/edit and save the form, what am I doing wrong?

Where is some documentation on this bug? I am having the same problem (disappearing data EXCEPT radio buttons and check boxes). I do not manipulate instances in my form, but I do update the layout (it is dynamic) and allow users to save data.
I suspect that my end users are using earlier versions of Reader, but would like some documentation on the subject, as I do not have access to the users' computers. I can't recreate because I have Reader 8.

After creating your table, Tap the Tab marked "+" and select "Form" - you will be asked which table to use. (You should get into the habit of naming your tables - if the table name isn't visible, select the table and tap the Styles (Brush) Menu > Table > Turn ON table Name, then double tap on the Table to edit it.)
Select the table you wish to to fill with a form and you will see a new form based on the header data.
The form will allow you to add one row at a time and when you get to the last row, there is an option at the bottom of the form to add a new row using the "+" button. At the top of the form is the row header which you can rename by double tapping.
You can also rename the form on the Tab by double tapping on the name.
Try it out.

How to lock a pdf form after entering data

I have created certificate with editable fields for a client, I was of the thinking that the certificate is to be filled-in and printed however the client informed me that it is instead emailed to recipients. How can I make it possible for the client to lock the certificate after entering data.
Bear in mind that the client is using Adobe Reader not Acrobat. I have tried setting a security password but Reader does not require the password in order to enable or disable the fields.

If the user has Acrobat, not the free Reader, they could flatten the PDF form. If they only have Reader they can make the fields read only. They also might want to use a digital certificate to invisibly sign the PDF. Signing the PDF will add code to disclose if the PDF has been changed since it was signed.

How to Create Dynamic form using table data

I have one Table called PRODUCT_MASTER where product details are stored. Say product A,B,C,D are stored in the table. Another table called SUB_PRODUCT_MASTER, which contains sub product details.Say A1,A1,B1,B2, B3,C1, C2, C3, D1,D2,D3.
Now, I want to create a dynamic form based on product,sub product. for a whole month. For better under standing here is the format.

Now whenever I add one row in the PRODUCT)MASTER table and SUB_PRODUCT_MASTER table, Form should add one column in the form automatically. e.g. If I add Product E with two Sub product E1 and E2 then form should add ptoduct E column in the form with sub products E1 and E2 as per above format. Here days are fixed to 31. This forms should accept product wise daily despatch entry. For
storing despatch entry another table is created.
Please help to create this type od forms.

You want I believe to create Croos-Table(Matrix) form. Visit Cross-table (matrix) forms layout and add "Please Send me too".

How can I populate a dynamic form from Excel data (beginner)

I am reasonably certain this is beginner-level but I cannot seem to figure out how to do this. I have data in an ecxel file and I would like to import that data into a form using LS. I need to distribute the unique data to each recipient. (I have included an example below) I would really appreciate any advice. If there is a tutorial that explains this I would be happy to go through that. Thanks in advance.

I would like to send a template e-mail to each sales rep at "PC.com" that says:

I would like all the data for each customer to go to the sales rep. For instance, Jim should get an e-mail stating that "Pear Computing" has two items, and a separate e-mail stating that "Orange Computing" has two items. What I want to avoid is the MS Word mail merge solution that equates to Jim getting 4 emails. I would like the equipment to be grouped by customer number or account number. I would prefer to have a dynamic layout with flowed page as the number of items per customer will vary.

PDF form - Displaying entered data in another field

Hi, I'm hoping someone will be able to help me with this. I'm trying to create a PDF form containing a business card graphic/template with fields that'll update as the user enters his/her data. I wish to use an existing graphic with added fields which are read only, underneath I want to provide fields for the customer to enter their data which is then reflected into the fields of my graphic. Hope this makes some sense! Basically I want the customer to see real time proof of the business card as they update it with their own personal information.

Thanks for this. I've found a good solution for what i'm trying to do
Placing the script below in the custom calculation script for my Text2 field will copy the contents of Text1 to Text2 this way I can set individual
properties for each field. (I found duplicating the same field means they share the same properties)

Tabular form loses entered data on return from error page after validation

APEX 3.2
I have a manually-built tabular form with validation. I display the error on the error page. When using Firefox and Chrome, when returning from the error page, the data I entered in the tabular form is still displayed. When using IE, that data is NOT retained.
This worked properly at one time in IE.
Suggestions?

Need to have a form to enter data and then send data to database

Dynamic Form to disregard data

Have a simple question (tough for me though...)
I have a form with 3 pages and multiple subforms in each form. How can I have the form read just one instance of the data (first one) and stop? To make it more clear the invoice form prints multiple invoices (as many as included in the dat file) but I would like to have only the first invoice printed always and disregard the rest of the data in the dat file.

I have worked with subforms quite a bit and have never come across a way of doing this. Subforms are designed to work through the dat file from beginning to end and print new subforms as the data tells it to. The only way to do this that I know of, would be to remove the extra data in your dat file. Then the form will only print the first instance of the subform and stop. Otherwise it will keep printing until it goes all the way through the data in the dat file.

Extracting data from dynamic forms

I am new to using Livecycle and see the advantages of using dynamic forms for collecting data. I have designed several dynamic forms which include rows with 6 to 9 text fields and may be completed with 10 to 100 rows. I have had to use text fields for collecting numeric information as many of the references start with zeros (003456).
Whilst Acrobat Pro provides for Livecycle dynamic forms to be enabled for Acrobat Reader filling and saving is extracting to Excel the best option available if you do not have the Enerprise version of Livecycle?
One problem I have in using Excel is that whilst the completed PDF documents capture the leading zeros, when I view the Excel spreadsheet the lead zeros have been lost. I have experienced this problem in importing Excel files into Access. To overcome this I usually create five lead rows with characters in all the fields that I want Excel to define as text - otherwise it processes them as numerics.
Any better ways of extracting data from a hundred or so dynamic forms?

your problem is not the exported data, it's Excel that drops the leading zeros by default.
You can use a custom pattern to keep the leading zeros.
0#### will display intergers with up to 5 places with a leading zero.

Re-display repeating XML data in dynamic form

I have a dynamic form with repeating data in my XML that populates it. I need to display the repeating data in one of 2 different ways, depending on which business segment the user viewing it is associated with. I have tried 2 ways to accomplish this, neither has worked for me.
Attempt 1: Create 2 separate subforms and hide the one that should not be shown. The first subform in the layout displays just fine and is populated with records, but the second subform never displays any records. This appears to be an issue with the XML node already having been parsed and displayed and does not get displayed again. Is there a way to move the cursor, or pointer, or whatever you call it in XML-speak back to the top of a repeating node to re-display data?
Attempt 2: Create a single subform that contains 2 other subforms - one for each view, which lay atop each other. A script command hides the view the shouldn't be displayed. The problem I ran into here is that the records don't display properly. In my example, there are 3 records in the repeating section, the first displays fine, the second is missing some fields and is pulling some data from the first record. The third record displays no data at all. I deleted the one of the 2 subforms and previewed the form again, now all of the records displayed just as they should.
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

On IPad3, setting up form to enter alpha information only on a sheet. Form only seems to accept numeric data. How do I get it to work?

I am setting up a numbers ledger to catagorize and keep information on documents. Trying to set up a form to enter data, but forms only seem to accept numeric data--in that the numeric key pad pops up automatically and there is no way to change it to the alpha keypad. I have tried various ways of setting up the sheet, thinking this may change the way the form will accept data, without success.
Further description: Sheet one, all columns and rows have alpha information, such as "Name of Document", "Sub-Titles in Document", "Headings" in document. My attempt is to create using Numbers, a library program allowing me to enter and search the beforementioned. It works, I have been entering the data row by row, but want to create a form that will make data entry easier.

Thanks to bwfromspring hill for answering this question for me by way of another question on another topic. It is working now. I had set up the form before I had finished the sheet. By deleting the form, selecting the sheet, then clicking + and "create new form", then selecting the sheet name, the form now enters alph data just like the sheet was set up to do. I did have to go to the paint brush, select tables and make sure that "table name--on" was selected so the form was linked to the sheet.

Why would entering data into a basic form be so slow?

We have a form created in Acrobat 8.0 that has about 30 fields. They are only fields to be filled in and then the form is printed.
Until we updated Adobe Reader to version 9.1.1, we had no issues entering data into the form. With versions 9.1.1 and above, data entry gets slower and slower as you move down the form.
Entering data into the first part of the form is rapid. When entering data into the middle part of the form, you can type characters and then watch as the characters slowly appear. When you get to the end of the form. the characters you type can take about 5 seconds each befor they appear.
Can't figure out why version 9.1.1 and higher cause data entry to get progressively slower as you move down the form.

Planning web form error "This form contains unsaved data. Select OK to cont

I've got a user that suddenly gets an error on a planning web form. She opens the form and enters data but when she tries to submit gets the following error “This form contains unsaved data. Select OK to continue without saving data, or Cancel to discard operation” and then it takes her back to the blank form. This form worked for her yesterday but not today. She has tried shutting down hyperion, even rebooting her machine but no luck. Any ideas?
