Ld: fatal symbol referencing errors when linking g++

I have setup gcc with path=/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/opt/sfw/bin:/opt/sfw/sbin:/opt/sfw/include/g++-3:/opt/sfw/lib/gcc-lib/i386-pc-solaris2.8/2.95.2:/usr/include:/usr/lib
I can do # g++ -o test test.cpp
but not # g++ -c test test.o
get -> ld:fatal error symbol referencing error
as well as ->
ostream::operator<<(ostream &(*) /var/tmp/ccvxG011.o
Undefined first referenced
symbol in file
cout /var/tmp/ccvhGO11.o
I also have checked that there is no files
gconfig.h, stdio.h, stdlib.h
This was installed by using the companion cd
as others has done as well.
How do I send output using "cout" if STD C++
gives this error , is certain functions replaced??
a Test file with:
============
<iostream>
main()
cout << "hello world" << endl;
return 0;
should work!!!

HI

    the MAN page for sem_wait() implies that you must link with librt ( -ltr on the command line for linking )

    Perhaps if you do:
    #include <iostream.h>
    it will work better?
    A little note. Don't put /usr/include in your path and neither should you put the compiler's internal header dir in your path. That will confuse your compiler. The compiler should pick up its path for includes by itself and if you don't pass any arguments to GCC, it picks up its internal include dir and then the system (/usr/include).
    If by chance you get a system header and use it with GCC, but should have been the GCC header, you can get strange ld errors. Try gcc -E for more debugging.

  • Error when linking report to stored procedure defined with one input parm

    Error when linking report to stored procedure defined with one input parameter
    The report will work ok, when the parameter is removed from the stpred procedure

    where valuationmode = @valuationmode;
    End;

    This is an example of a stored procedure that is trying to be linked to a new report as the only datasource.
    If I remove the parameter I can create a report, however this will return all of the results of thw query to the report, rather than the desired results. If I add the parameter on the Crystal Report, the stored procedure then has to return all of the results to Crystal and then perform the filtering of records. By using a parameter in the stored procedure, you should be able to do all of the filtering as part of the query on the databse server, making this more efficient.

  • Ld: fatal: relocation error: R_SPARC_DISP64 error when linking on Solaris 8

    Hi,
    I get the following error when trying to link on Solaris 8 using Forte CC. This code links without any problems on Solaris 6 using g++. I've tried searching the web for info, but to no avail.
    Also, in this ckErrorCode class there are 4 methods(note there are also 4 of these unknown symbols) and when I comment out all the code it links, but I get unresolved symbols later, as you'd expect.
    Anyone come across this before?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Linker errors when linking OCCI 10.1.0  statically on RH AS 3.0 platform

    Hello All,
    I was trying to build an OCCI program on a Red Hat AS 3.0 Update 4 Platform, statically linking to OCCI libraries of Oracle 10.1.0 version. The g++ compiler version is 3.2.3.
    The Makefile and the errors that got generated is mentioned below. However, I could able to build the program when linking through shared library version of OCCI. My requirement is to build the program statically.
    I had been stuck up with this for almost a week and tried checking the previous postings in the forums/newsgroups, but not of much help. I added the following libraries :
    -lnbeq10 -lnhost10 -lnus10 -lnldap10 -lldapclnt10\
    -lnsslb10 -lntcp10 -lntcps10 -lnsslb10 -lntcp10 -lntns10
    to the Makefile, based on somebody's posting in OCI/OCCI forum. If I didn't provide
    -lpthread I get linker errors in pthread_xxx functions.
    Any help/pointers on this would be really appreciated.

    Hi ,
    Oh! Anyway, thanks for the information. However, the glibc version I use is glibc-2.3.2-95.30.
    There is a bit of story behind the reason we tried to use static linking. Actually, the application around which we use to develop solutions supports only Oracle 9i. We were developing some components using the C++ SDK provided by application vendor and that components need some information from DB for processing. So, we needed to write a DB class to do that. Since, we found Oracle supports C++ DB interface(OCCI), we thought to use that.
    We had to use RH AS 3.0 platform and the gcc compiler 3.2.x+ for compiling our component code. But Oracle 9i OCCI code doesn't get compiled with gcc/g++ 3.2.x+ compilers. So, we planned to use Oracle 10g OCCI libraries for building the DB class and link it to the custom component we had developed.
    In the run-time environment, we had to install both Oracle 9i clients and Oracle 10g clients since the app requires Oracle 9i and the custom component requires Oracle 10g. We did some kind of tweaking (by providing symbolic links to Oracle 10g OCCI libraries from Oracle 9i client directory) so that both the app and the component gets started.
    I know this is not a good idea. But we didn't want to spend much time on this at that time since we were doing a proof-of-concept. Later, we thought what could be done. We thought ,first we can try lthe custom component linked to static library version of OCCI. That's the reason we tried of static linking.
    The other option is to use OCI interface. But this is a bit of work since we need to write lot of wrapper methods to handle intricacies with OCI and OCI code is cumbersome compared to OCCI.
    Hope now you could have got the problem, I am talking about. Any other better ways?
    Thanks
    Karthik

  • Fatal PL/SQL error when calling imported java code

    Hi,
    I'm developing reports using Report builder 9.0.2 under Win2k and I have the following problem:
    I select data into fieds A and B.
    I created 2 formulas fA and fB that call a PLSQL function from my report in order to convert A and B based on other data.
    I also have a formula fC which is actually fA-fB
    I have 3 summary columns on fA, fB and fC. I don't display any of those columns on the report but I created other formulas columns fA_Fmt, fB_Fmt,... to format the values using an imported java class.
    This java class is static.
    so fA_Fmt looks like this:
    function fA_Fmt return Char is
    begin
    return MyJavaClassPackageName.formatValue( :fA, report_global_variable );
    end;
    When I run my report under report builder, I get a REP-1401 report error like "fA_Fmt formula: fatal PL/SQL error occured
    ORA-39565: Message not found, product RDBMS, facility: ORA"
    This happens randomly on any of the formulas.
    Sometimes I even get a java.lang.StaskOverFlowError and I have to close and restart report builder.
    I've tried to debug and I even caught the exception.
    The parameters passed to the java method are fine.
    The exception number is 105101 and after a couple of exceptions like this, visual C++ runtime library tells me there's a runtime error in rwbuilder.exe and the application crashes.
    I don't know if it's Java, if it's Report builder or even Win2k.
    Anyway, I'm stuck with that and I don't know what to do to fix it.
    Any idea or work around?
    Thanks
    Manu

    Hi Manu
    I suspect the line given below:
    return MyJavaClassPackageName.formatValue( :fA, report_global_variable );
    Do not pass report values directly. Instead, assign it to a temporary variable and try again. See if this works:
    temp1 <Variable_Type>;
    temp2 <Variable_Type>;
    temp1 := :fA;
    temp2 := report_global_variable;
    return MyJavaClassPackageName.formatValue( temp1, temp2 );
    Note: You may also hit Fatal PL/SQL errors if the arguments happen to be invalid.
    Regards
    Sripathy

  • Get out of memory error when linking Frame doc to RoboHelp project

    I just upgraded to TC Suite 5.
    Now I'm trying to link FrameMaker files to my RoboHelp project. The FrameMaker files are from a document that was done in Frame 9 (TC Suite 3.5) and now has been converted to Frame 11. It's working fine in Frame 11. No errors when opening any of the files in Frame 11.
    I created a new project in RH 11 and tried linking the FM files to it. Some work, but some bring on an Out of Memory message. Interestingly, one file that is 68MB worked fine, one file that's only 58MB brings that message.
    I'm going to try using an Externalize Graphics addon that worked well with the old Frame--I can only hope it works with FM 11 now.
    Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening, and any solutions besides externalizing the graphics and trying to reduce the file size?
    Thanks.

    I was finally able to get the files to work by opening and saving in FrameMaker numerous times.
    Re: your questions. . . I did not try importing directly. I linked and then generated. Yes, the linking did work with RH9 from the TCS 3.5.

  • SharePoint Online workflows show server error when link is clicked. Cannot terminate them.

    This is for SharePoint Online. I have a number of workflows on a list that are in a 'suspended' state when I navigate to the workflows page for the item. When I click the link to view the workflow, I get a server error.  I need to terminate these workflows.

    Hi,
    Based on your description, you want to terminate these workflows in SharePoint online.
    You can terminate these workflows by the CSOM implementation through passing the ID of the list and list item.
    You can refer to the code snippets below.
    // connect to the workflow services via a CSOM client context
    var clientContext = new ClientContext(siteCollectionUrl);
    var workflowServicesManager = new WorkflowServicesManager(clientContext, clientContext.Web);
    // connect to the instance service
    var workflowInstanceService = workflowServicesManager.GetWorkflowInstanceService();
    // get all instances
    var workflowInstances = workflowInstanceService.EnumerateInstancesForListItem(listId, listItemId);
    clientContext.Load(workflowInstances);
    clientContext.ExecuteQuery();
    foreach (var instance in workflowInstances)
    // is this what we are looking for?
    // if so, suspend it
    workflowInstanceService.SuspendWorkflow(instance);
    // or you can terminate it
    workflowInstanceService.TerminateWorkflow(instance);
    There is a similar case:

  • Unexpected error when linking CSS style-sheet

    I have been working on this site for over a month now. I have
    a linked external CSS style sheet and everything has been working
    seamlessly between Dreamweaver and the web. Today, I tried to
    create a template and then disliked it, so I deleted it. After
    doing that, my CSS rules were no longer displaying properly EVEN
    THOUGH my formatting and everything has remained the same.
    I have a feeling there is something cached behind the scenes
    that is messing this all up. Community assistance is greatly
    appreciated. This is not the first time I've been unable link a CSS
    stylesheet.

    upload the page and post a link, please.
