Leading zeros help!

When I input zip codes, and 0 is the first number in the cell, numbers automatically deletes the 0. For example if the zip code is 07733, when i hit enter or move to the next cell is becomes, 7733. How do I change this setting?

Hello
Who told you that Numbers is the result of 30 years of development?
It's a baby (version 1.0.2)
Its designers perfectly kno what is done by Excel.
They are certainly not trying to build a clone of this one.
They defined a target range of customers and what you requires is not a feature needed by the defined target. No less, no more. Its a well known:

Apple Human Interface Guidelines:
Apply the 80 Percent Solution
During the design process, if you discover problems with your product design, you might consider applying the 80 percent solution‚ that is, designing your software to meet the needs of at least 80 percent of your users. This type of design typically favors simpler, more elegant approaches to problems.
If you try to design for the 20 percent of your target audience who are power users, your design may not be usable by the other 80 percent of users. Even though that smaller group of power users is likely to have good ideas for features, the majority of your user base may not think in the same way. Involving a broad range of users in your design process can help you find the 80 percent solution.

  • Need help on how to code this SQL statement! (one key has leading zeros)

    Good day, everyone!
First of all, I apologize if this isn't the best forum.  I thought of putting it in the SAP Oracle database forum, but the messages there seemed to be geared outside of ABAP SELECTs and programming.  Here's my question:
I would like to join the tables FMIFIIT and AUFK.  The INNER JOIN will be done between FMIFIIT's MEASURE (Funded Program) field, which is char(24), and AUFK's AUFNR (Order Number) field, which is char(12).
The problem I'm having is this:  All of the values in AUFNR are preceeded by two zeros.  For example, if I have a MEASURE value of '5200000017', the corresponding value in AUFNR is '005200000017'.  Because I have my SQL statement coded to just match the two fields, I obviously get no records returned because, I assume, of those leading zeros.
Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of experience coding SQL, so I'm not sure how to resolve this.
Please help!  As always, I will award points to ALL helpful responses!
    Thanks!!
    Dave

You can't do a join like this in SAP's open SQL.  You could do it in real SQL ie EXEC.... ENDEXEC by using SUSBTR to strip off the leading zeros from AUFNR but this would not be a good idea because a)  modifying a column in the WHERE clause will stop any index on that column being used and b) using real SQL rather than open SQL is really not something that should be encouraged for database portability reasons etc.
Forget about a database join and do it in two stages; get your AUFK data into an itab, strip off the leading zeros, and then use FAE to get the FMIFIIT data (or do it the other way round).
I do hope you've got an index on your FMIFIIT MEASURE field (we don't have one here); otherwise your SELECT could be slow if the table holds a lot of data.

  • Need leading zeros to fill the front of a 10 character parameter being passed-HELP!

I have a prompt 10 character parameter that some people forget to insert the zero at the beginning of the number. ex.(they type "594468010", suppose to be "0594468010").  How can I fill in the leading zeros for them after they type in the prompt box?  My prompt comes from a command.  Here is a sample of the where clause:  WHERE DB.ID_NUMBER = '{?I_IDNO}'
I tried to use LPAD('{?I_IDNO}',10,0), it works with plsql, but not when I run the crystal report.
Does anyone have any ideas?  thanks for your help in advance!

    a) you can always use your database specific cast / convert function to convert the text field into a number for the purpose of record selection. then change the prompt type to numeric. crystal commands are database specific so you'd want to check your database help on what specific syntax to use for the cast / convert in the command.
    b) the other choice to leave the command & prompt type alone & use an edit mask on the command prompt...this would then force the end user to enter the leading zeroes as the edit mask would force a certain length on the entry. so in the crystal field explorer edit the prompt and put in an edit mask of 000000000 for example if you wish to force the end user to enter 9 numeric characters.

  • ** Please help urgently  ** Budget upload field with leading zeros

We need to load a characteristic that has leading zeros.  For example 0000350.  When saving down to CSV, we lose the leading zeros (0000) so that only 350 is loaded into BW.  Saving the codes as 'text' in excel does not seem to help.
We cannot therefore see the name for any of these codes when refreshing the workbook in BW.
Could some please urgently tell us the correct method to save the file for loading into the BW infopackage, with all zeros intact ?
    Regards, Frederick

    Hi Frederick,
    Just some additional thoughts,
assuming field A1 in Ecel contains 350 and you want to create a string with 8 digits, you could use formula '=text(A1;"00000000")' in an empty column and copy it back to column A. Then 00000350 should be provided in A1. This can be saved in a normal .csv file and be opened with a text editor (e.g. notepad) in order to check content.
If you don't want to manipulate Excel data, transformation to a field with leading zeros can be easily be processed with a routine in transfer rules.

  • Need help on avoid truncation of leading zeros while export to Excel

    Hi
I am using crystal reports XI version and facing numerical format issue while exporting data from crystal report viewer to excel file, it is removing leading zeros in a alphanumeric field (String field from DB)
    Thanks
    Nagamani

The only thing that might do this would be to append an apostrophe (') to the beginning of the field.  What I would try is:
    1. Add a text object to the report where you want this string to appear.
    2. Type an apostrophe in the text box.
    3. Drag the field into the text box so that it's to the right of the apostrophe.
If you don't want the apostrophe to appear when viewing the report, try this:
    1.  Right-click on the text box and select "Format Object".  Set the font color to be the same as the background color.
    2.  Double-click in the text box.
    3.  Select the field, right-click on it and select the "Format..." option.  Set the font color to black or whatever other color you're using in your report.

  • Help keeping leading zero String- Long

    Hello
I wonder lets say I have a String "09090" how do I convert this String to a Long and keeping leading zero so the Long is 09090?
    /D_S

Numeric types like Long (or long) are numbers, not strings, so they have no formatting notions like leading zeroes. If you want to maintain the string "09090" keep the string around, even if you have to parse it as well. By the way, you forgot to describe what your goal is, what you are trying to do and what it has to do with leading zeroes.
One more: Why does this print false?
    System.out.println(07070 == 7070);Hint: this generates a compile-time error:
    System.out.println(09090 == 9090);

  • How do I use the print function to output a numeric variable with a fixed amount of leading zeroes

I need to create an output from a T-SQL query that picks a numeric variable and uses the print function to output with leading zeroes if it is less than three characters long when converted to string.  For example if the variable is 12 the output should
be 012 and if the variable is 3 the output should be 003.
Presently the syntax I am using is PRINT STR(@CLUSTER,3) .  But if @CLUSTER which is numeric is less than three characters I get spaces in front.
    Please help!

    >> I need to create an output from a T-SQL query .. <<
NO! NO! In RDBMS, we have a presentation layer that handles displays. We do not ever do it in the database. This is fundamental. But more than that, the purpose of PRINT is for debugging in T-SQL and never for output.
You are still writing 1960's COBOL or BASIC, but you want to to it in SQL.  You probably picked the wrong data type (a numeric that should be a string) and are trying to repair your design error.

  • IR truncating leading zeros in my popup window report

    Hello,
I am using IR_columnname, for one of the columns in my report which is a popup window report.
My problem is that IR_column search filter in my popup window is truncating the leading zeros.
I am getting the value but it is truncating the leading zeros.
like say if the deptno is something like 020 or 0020 in the parent window.
the IR_columnname value is taking '20' (its truncating leading zeros) with this filter its not dispalying the result in my popup window.
can anyone help me out with this.
    thanks.

How are you passing values to the IR filter? There could be a possibility that you source logic is truncating the leading zeros.
    Thanks,
    Manish

  • Visual Studio Projects Not Showing FileVesion Leading Zeroes in File Properties

I created a simple Visual Studio 2013 windows form application setting the AssemblyInfo.cs file as show below.
// You can specify all the values or you can default the Build and Revision Numbers
// by using the '*' as shown below:
    // [assembly: AssemblyVersion("1.0.*")]
    [assembly: AssemblyVersion("1.0.0.0227")]
    [assembly: AssemblyFileVersion("1.0.0.0227")]
    [assembly: AssemblyInformationalVersion("0.0.0.0227")]
I built the application and went to the Windows File Explorer and brought up the file properties. What I see is that the product version showing the leading zeros, but the file version field does not show the leading zeros.
It appears to be a bug either with Visual Studio or with Windows. Which one is it and is there a fix?

    Hi Sarah,
We can't see the screenshot. Do you mean you use Windows Explorer to browse to the AssemblyInfo.cs file and check the property?
If you change the product version or the file version from the AssemblyInfo.cs file, you need to firstly rebuild the assembly, then if you go to the debug/release folder, check the property of the assembly file, the Details tab will show you the corresponding
changes of these properties. It's the assembly property but not the cs file property.

  • CRM 7.0 Leading zeros on material in sales documents delta replication

    Hi
During initial load of sales documents from ECC to CRM the item is replicated with leading zeros.
The consequences is that CRM do not find the product and the crm order gets an error message that the product is not maintianed in product master.
So my question is; how to replicate the order without leading zeros for items?
    BR
    Johan

    Hello Johan,
You need to check txn:OMSL in ERP and you need to make sure that settings are in sync with CRM customizing path settings.
    SPRO>IMG>Cross-Applicaiton Component>SAP Product>Basic Settings-->Define O/P Format..
Especially you need to check for the lexicographical flag.
If this flag is set, then 0123 is different from 123.
    Hope this helps!

  • Leading zeroes substring query in SQL Server

Can Someone please help me in padding leading zeroes for the months in End date
Example: actual data is like    6222007
,11301998 in end date column the following query works fine for 11301998 and converts it as 19981130 which was correct.
    But 6222007
fails because month has no leading zero and it converts it as 0076222 which is wrong.
How can i make it as 20070622 with the following code
select (case when replace (ltrim(rtrim(ltrim([end date]))), '|', '') in ('99999999','00000000') then NULL
        else substring ([END DATE],5,4)+SUBSTRING([END DATE],1,2)+SUBSTRING([END DATE],3,2) end) as ConvEnd_date
    from AdventureWorks.dbo.[AccountTable]

    Something like:
    declare @i int = 6222007
    select @i%10000 year_number, @i/1000000 month_number, (@i/10000)%100 day_number
    select DATEFROMPARTS(@i%10000,@i/1000000,(@i/10000)%100)

  • Remove Leading zeros for Material in Transformation

    Hi Experts,
I'm using DTP first time. I don't have much exp on DTP & Transformations.
I'm creating infocube with some objects. I want to remove leading zeros for zmaterial.
In 3.x writen update routines as fallows:
    data: zmat(18) type c.
    zmat = COMM_STRUCTURE-/BIC/ZMAT.
shift zmat left deleting leading '0'.
    result value of the routine
      RESULT = zmat.
I'm confusing in Transfermation where to write this routines.
I'm writing in Transformation as fallows:
    data: zmat(18) type c.
    zmat = SOURCE_FIELDS-/BIC/ZMAT.
shift zmat left deleting leading '0'.
    RESULT = zmat.
    But it's getting remove zero's.
    Anybody suggest on this.
    Siri

    Dear Sir,
    No confusion at all.
Just double click on the Target Infoobjct i,e Material object in Transformation, you will see a wizard popping up.
There you will see a option called "RULE TYPE" and the default value will be "Direct Assignment". In the same check box click on the drop down icon and select "Routine".
The moment you select the routine option, it will open up ABAP workspace where in you can write your routine and get the desired result.
    Hope it helps.

  • LEADING ZERO IN MONTH

    Hi,
is there any possibility of adding leading zero for month column in query output without writing ABAP CODE.
SDay for March ,instead of 3 i need 03 in qury o/p.
    Thanks,
    shaw

    Hi,
is it possible that u mean to eleminate the leading "zero" of a KF text variable?
If yes, u can do this with the following steps:
    1. Go to query designer -> select your text variable
    2. Edit variable -> replacement path
    3. Section Offset settings-> edit offset start and offset lenght
I dont know how 0Month is displayed, but with these two u can define at which point u the offset starts and how many text digits u want to display.
For ex. 0FISCPER is displayed 0012008 normally, if u set offset start as 2 and offset lenght as 5 the result is 12008
    Hope it helps
