Learning Pro *C On Oracle 9i(9.2.0.1.0)... ORA_HOME/.../precomp(problem)

Hi Everyone,
I dont know whether its a right place to post my query, But its related to the Oracle database.
I want to learn Pro* C, when i started refering the Getting started guide, its been instructed that i have to check various locations of the ORACLE_HOME Directory sucha as \precomp in the ORACLE_BASE\ORACLE_HOME directory.
\admin Configuration files
\demo\proc Sample programs for Pro*C/C++....THIS IS MISSING
\demo\sql SQL scripts for sample programs
\doc\proc Readme files for Pro*C/C++
\help\proc Help files for Pro*C/C++
\lib\msvc Library files for Pro*C/C++.... THIS IS MISSING
\mesg Message files
\misc\proc Miscellaneous files for Pro*C/C++....This iS MISSING
\public Header files
But my Oracle 9i (9.2.0.1.0)... Has \precomp directory but the subdirectories are not like as mentioned above.
And one more isssue is when i tried to access Pro*C/C++ Graphical Interface by navigating through
Start > Programs > Oracle - HOME_NAME
Application Development > Pro C-C++. This is not at all there but SQL PLUS is there...So, I beleave that with out pro c, c++ graphical interface and proper directory structure ... I hope i cant learn...
I have oracle9i DiSK1,2 ,3... Please any one could suggest me how get graphical interface and proper \precomp directory ..

Certainly possible. I would suggest you crack open the PL/SQL Users Guide. DO you have previous programming experience? If so, looks at the examples.

Where can I download PRO*COBOL for Oracle database 11g ? I have downloaded & installed linux.x64_11gR1_database_1013.zip
It has a procob32 but it gives an ERROR loading shared library libcIntsh.so.11.1 ?
What should pro*cobol be for my linux 64 bit AMD ? (procob procob32, procob18, procob64)

Unresolved symbol after migrating Pro*C from Oracle 8i to Oracle 10gR2

We are currently migrating a 32bits application written in Pro*C and Pro*Cobol from Oracle 8i client to Oracle 10gR2 client (Oracle 10gR2 server).
Precompiling, compiling and linking the source files are ok. But at runtime, the following error appears :

What does the program do? It might make more sense, given the tremendous number of changes and enhancements to just rewrite it.

Running Pro*C on Oracle 10g

Hi
Recently, i installed Oracle 10g Express (XE) on Ubuntu 9.04.
I am a Pro*C and database developer. Now, I am facing the following issues :-
1. I saw Pro*C and other precompiler packages are not available in 10g XE.
Can i install these packages separately?
OR
Is Pro*C available in 10g Standard so that i can install that?
Does anybody has idea about Oracle Instant Client. I heard it has precompiler packages.
2. The Oracle services don't run automatically when i restart my laptop. How can i configure this?
I would be really grateful, if anybody can help me with this.

2. Generally people create startup and shutdown scripts and then create softlinks in the appropriate directories. If you use your search engine of choice I'm sure you can find many examples. Tim Hall has a good example here:

Is there some material about the pros&cons between Oracle Forms, OAF and ADF, from angles like technical architecture, performance, network efficiency, etc...
Asking this becuase EBS cusotmer is familiar with Oracle Forms and OAF, when we talking about ADF to them, it is quite confused especially about OAF and ADF, finding material to elaborate these 3 technology clearly, thanks

Thanks, I check the comparison of OAF and ADF document downloaded from Oracle Support, but it is for ADF10g, I believe ADF11g is much better, and anyone check the comparison table between ADF 10g and OAF R12 would choose OAF.
And, from the document, I saw one line that is very confused, check it out, do not understand what does it mean with "if your application does not need to integrate with EBS... ... you should use ... ... integration with EBS" -_-!
"If your application does not need to integrate with the
E-Business Suite, or doesn't require any of the E-Business Suite-specific
capabilities enumerated above, you should use ADF 10g with SOA based
integration with E-Business Suite."

To answer my own question, I'd say it's necessary to install the tarball, NOT the Debian files, for the Enterprise edition (perhaps to Standard is enough?).
After installation at (for example) /usr/local/oracle, the "proc" precompiler should be at /usr/local/oracle/u01/app/oracle/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/bin
The env.variable ORACLE_HOME should be set,
export ORACLE_HOME=/usr/local/oracle/u01/app/oracle/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1

I have a BT Infinity router plugged into the Time Capsule, not sure where the radio settings are?
They are able to use the network settings of the TC i.e. they can connect to the internet via the wifi through the TC but when they try and connect to the AirPort Disk this is where it is not allowing a connection.
I don;t have the drive shared out at all at the moment, is this necessary? How do I do this if so?

Hi, I have backed up 2 IMACs and one Mac Book Pro but for some reason, the 3rd IMAC come up with this problem: The backup disk image “/Volumes/Data/Anthony’s iMac.sparsebundle” could not be accessed (error -1). Why? The computer system is up to date and I have had no issue with the other computers, just this one.

Make sure the correct device is selected.

What problem does Encore have with DL?
If DL is not working properly for you the way around this is to export from Premiere to either mpeg2-dvd for DVD or BluRay H.264 for BD-disks and import the files in Encore.

Pro*Cobol for Oracle 10g Express Edition is available?

Hi to all, this is my first post here.
I evaluating Cobol to Oracle products and I have find one it´s more
We installed Oracle 10g Express Edition (Server and Client), to test compatibility of a Cobol product.
This product requires the "rtsora" component, from Pro*Cobol, but we didn´t find it in any place in the instalation packages.
The documentation show the precompilers to be at $ORACLE_HOME/precomp but there is only two folders (admin and lib) with "ottcfg" files. Nothing more
Searching this and anothers foruns, I became to think if the precompilers facilities, like Pro*Cobol, may be available to the 10g Express Edition for Linux, OR, if this is a feature available only to the Standart Editions (or Windows)?
The instalation and users manuals appears to don´t distinguish the 10g standart from the Express Edition. Also, the Express Edition doesn´t ask for any kind of "customization oprtions" as I read about in another topics.

PRO * COBOL with Oracle 9i

We are in the process of Database upgrades and a pro*cobol program which was working in HP UX 11 / Oracle 7.3.4 was not working in HP UX 11 / Oracle 9i. We are getting the following error when trying to compile it (make) -
sh: 11139 Memory fault(coredump)
*** Error exit code 139
Can anybody help me with this issue.
