Leaving Macbook unused for at least 3 months
Hi,
I will be traveling soon for work for around 2-3 months and I am thinking of just bringing my work laptop and not my personal laptop (macbook) to avoid bringing two laptops. I am just wondering if there are any precautionary measures I need to observe in order to make sure my macbook is still in the same state when I come back (i.e., should I discharge battery, store it somewhere?)
Can you give me tips on what I should do to maintain it? I am just afraid that not using it for many months might affect the system or its performance when I come back.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you have a unibody MacBook, you can't get the battery out without a special screwdriver anyway. Trust me, it's a VERY difficult screwdriver to come by, and that is by design.
Anyway... Just turn the system off, and leave it somewhere where it will be kept at around standard room temp 70F/20C. Do not leave it plugged in is the only thing I would suggest. Just remember the battery will be completely flat by the time you get back, so don't be freaked out when you get an error message about your clock being set to a date before 2001. Maybe leave yourself a note about how that's to be expected.
I'm sure plenty of people will have advice on how to store your battery in the freezer to maximize the amount of charge that remains, and all sorts of other nonsense. Including a lot of garbage about how it's hard on laptop batteries to let them completely discharge. There's so much misinformation floating around about laptop batteries it's crazy. A lot of it applies to NiCD batteries, which haven't been used in laptops for probably 15 years or so. If you have a cordless phone or cordless power tool, it might be of some benefit, but not for your laptop. I say spend more time focusing on your trip, not your laptop. Just plug the thing in when you get back, go unpack, and it should be good to go when you're done. Aside from that error message, everything should be exactly as you left it.

Leave MacBook off for 2 months?
Hello! I'm leaving the country for over 2 months. Is it OK to leave my computer (MacBook Air) turned off for that long?
I would think that it should be fine if you make sure you switch it off (full shutdown - not just closing the lid). Try and leave it with a full charge (at least 80%) and if possible store it somewhere it won't get too hot or cold while you are away.

Kernel panic when leaving macbook asleep for a long time
Hello I got this macbook a couple of months ago out of nowhere it started to give me kernel panics and force resting if i left it in sleep mode at night or for any extended time. A damaged OS X installation
A fault in a peripheral device, if any
Corrupt non-volatile memory (NVRAM)
An internal hardware fault
An obscure bug in OS X
You can rule out the first two possibilities by reinstalling the OS and testing with non-essential peripherals disconnected and aftermarket expansion cards removed, if applicable. Sometimes a clean reinstallation (after erasing the startup volume) may solve a problem that isn't solved by reinstalling in place, without erasing.
Corrupt NVRAM, which rarely causes panics, can be ruled out by resetting it as directed in this support article.
If you've recently upgraded the memory, reinstall the original memory and see whether there's any improvement. Be careful not to touch the gold contacts on the memory modules when handling them. If necessary, clean them with a mild solvent such as rubbing alcohol.
The Apple Hardware Test, though generally unreliable, will sometimes detect a fault. A negative test can't be depended on. Run the extended version of the test.
In the category of obscure bugs, reports suggest that FileVault may trigger kernel traps under some unknown conditions. Most, though not all, of these reports seem to involve booting from an aftermarket SSD. If those conditions apply to you, try deactivating FileVault.
Otherwise, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested. You may have to leave it there for several days. There isn't much point in doing this unless you can reproduce the panic, or if you can't, it happens often enough that it's likely to be repeated at the store. Otherwise you may be told that nothing is wrong.
Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you know how to restore, and you have at least two independent backups.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

What if i leave macbook pro for 15 days without charging?
i am going out of town and i am leaving my mac at home,,,, will this effect my mac's battery cuz it would not be charged!!!!!!
model no. md101ll/aIt won't affect to the MacBook Pro's battery life. I recommend you to leave the battery at about 50% or a bit less, but as you aren't going to use the Mac for only 15 days, it's not as important, but you should do it.

My kids ipod touch 4 has been missing for 2 months I tried the find iphone app but her battery is dead so I get no sound or signal, is there any other ways to find it??
Only the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.

Leaving Macbook Pro unused for about 10 months
I'm going on an extended trip for at least 10 months and will not be bringing my laptop. Is there anything I need to do or know about before leaving? I just plan on keeping it in its case, in a dark room with average temperature fluctuation.
A friend of mine told me that her mac battery died after not using her laptop for 3 weeks because the battery drained completely and she had to get the battery replaced.By all means do as Apple recommends, but you aren't likely to have a usable battery when you come back, particularly if the battery is well along in age already.

I've had my MacBook Air for not even a year and about 2 months ago i tried opening my Iphoto, but it continually sits with a blank screen and the loading wheel just spins. Someone help
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I have owned my MacBook Pro for several months without having any problems with it. Recently I am having trouble with my Yahoo Mail. I can open it fine, but 2 out of 3 times when I try to actually open a message, the spinning ball comes on the screen and does not stop. Sometimes, I can log out or force quit and come back in to my account and use it. Other times, I run into the same problem. Any suggestions?

No, your Yahoo account is not in iCloud (which only handles iCloud mail), it is in Yahoo, and the Yahoo mail account is on your iPad.
But the MacBook Pro will have none of it! I write this question now as I fear that I will be totally demented very soon and unable to formulate my thoughts clearly!
Get the correct settings for your account from Yahoo and set it up manually.
By the way, I also find the "password" issue problematical. It seems Apple want my Apple password rather than my eMail password. All very confusing.

I keep getting "error during rendering/encoding of menus/slideshows" message. I have been burning DVD's in exactly the same way for the past 12 months and mostly on my MacBook which is 3 years old. Obviously I'm using iDVD. I purchased an iMac about a year ago and moved to use this for dvd burning without problem. A few months ago (approximately) I started to experience problems with burning with the error message above. I tried everything including starting the whole process from scratch right down to capturing the movie clips from my video recorder into iMovie, then using them in iDVD. Still the same message came up. I lost count of how many times I repeated the process with different clips and variations and the same thing happened. This was also the case with my MacBook and my husband's iMac.
After taking both of mymac's tothe service centre, having new optical thingys put it and even a new hard drive on my iMac along with a new DVD burner the same thing happened. They told me it must be the process that I am using that is incorrect!
I took my 27" iMac to an apple shop and asked them to assist me while I use the same technique as I always had. The same message came up so they tried using my clips in one of their mac's. The same message. They tried it with different clips and the same message. The only way we could get theirs to work was with a magic DVD which did not produce what I needed and was limited with only one page.
I now cannot use any of my Mac's for the intended purpose that I bought them for - to produce good media for my work! It was suggested that I purchase some non Mac software to burn DVDs which defeats the object of having a mac with iDVD in my opinion. I have a book on iDVD which is very informative and have followed the process to the letter and checked all the trouble shooting and still no remedy. It was mentioned that an up-date may have caused the problem on all my macs.
I feel that this issue should be addressed by Apple as a matter of correctness.
I now find that on the net there are many posts in forums and such like with exactly the same (almost word for word) problems. Please Apple, keep/regain your good name and sort this out.

The process I used is as follows:
Import recorded clips of between 5 and 15minutes each from my video recorder into i
Edit the clips (remove unwanted start and endng)
Add title to front of clips
‘Share’ them to ‘movie’ (export using QuickTime)folder in .mov format individually
Open iDVD and ‘create new project’
Select ‘favourite’ theme that I have set up forall my work dvd’s (this has been used successfully many times and I’ve triedwithout using the favourite them).
Add 2 submenus for each group of clips
Select submenu - drag and drop between 3 – 6 clips in each of the twosubmenus
Change title colours on clips
Dragand drop image into drop zones where required
In‘map’ view I check for any yellow warnings before burning to disc
In an attempt to remedy the problems I’ve tried the following:
Try new DVD discs
Try different themes (favourites and standardones)
Change images in drop zones
Start whole process again even from importingfrom camera again
Two other completely different computers (iMacand MacBook) with iDVD
Go to apple shop and use their computers to doin iDVD
Try with one clip and no menu pages added
Use a clip that I already have that did notoriginate from my camera
Turn computer off and restart
New hard drive
New optical lense (thing)
New DVD burner
Saving to disc image rather than dvd disc
Other points:
I also have a ‘flip’ and ‘iPhone’ whereI’ve imported footage camera which, although limited, records and makes videoclips and burns them to DVD through iDVD without problem.
For example, I have just gone through steps 5 - 11 using some clips that were already imported from my iphone to iPhoto and dragged across. I used a theme that I've used before which has failed and added one sub menu page where the clip went. It burned to disc image successfully.
The startup disc, I believe will have no space issues asit’s a new hard drive with no use apart from this. That could have been an issue before (I didn’t check it) butnot now.
Other technical stuff that I don't understand but you may:

I bought Macbook Air early 2014. Ever since i bought it to turn it on after a long ie. 5hr - 6hr i have to first charge it for at least 15 mins and sometimes it wont turn on for 3hr - 4hr and then it will turn on regardless of the battery charged. If i had put it on sleep even then it wont turn on it will work as usual as it is suppose to do. I went to icare twice and they game me the device back after 1-2 weeks saying it is now not giving any issue but when i will used it next morning again same thing happened. It's like i can never go out anywhere with the laptop outside as i have to first charge it and then turn it on. Icare wont replace my device they only say if there is any issue with the hardware we will replace that hardware but i think it is useless because they don't know what the issue is. Can someone help me out what to do now ? It's been to iCare ever since i bought it now i don't want them to again do the same thing.

I just created a slideshow dvd in imovie, and when I hit finalize it said that it would take 7 hours to finalize. I've only had my macbook pro for 6 months, and this is the first imovie I've done...is this normal? If not how can I speed up this process? Thanks in advance for all of your help!

Time needed can depend on several things.
• less than 5 GB free space on Start-up (Mac OS) hard disk = Redicolous long times AND a DVD that most probably will not work OK
Medicine - I never go under 25GB free space
• Use of strange file formats into iDVD - can force it to de-code first then re-encode - this can take long long times
I use
Video - StreamingDV as from miniDV tape Cameras - or QuickTime Movies Converted to StreamingDV
Audio - .aiff 16-bit 48 kHz - (no .mp3, .wma etc)
• Use of old Mac - My G4 600MHz took about 24 hour per hour movie. my dG5 - about 2 hours per hour (I use Pro Quality encoding)
• Pro Quality encoding - takes about x2 to process a movie

Welcome to the forum!
(1) construct a table or result set that has one row per month in the review period. [This thread|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=3651350?] has a similar problem.
(2) outer-join your actual data to that result set
(3) use the aggreagate COUNT (x) function (where x is some column from your table) to see if there were any matches in each month. GROUP BY months.
For a more specific answser, ask a more specific question.
Post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements), and the results you want from that data.
It never hurts to say what version of Oracle you're using.
