Legend box

I have a bar chart in my report, but I dont want the legend box to appear besides my chart.
How do I do this?

Joe,
The chart is created with Oracle Graphics. You must use Oracle Graphics to make this change. Here is how to do it in Graphics (cut this from the help reference). Look at the property palette for the chart in reports to determine the filename of the chart to edit in Graphics. PLEASE NOTE, that in the next release of Reports, we will not be using Oracle Graphics, but moving to BI Beans - specifically, the Chart Bean.
How do I remove the legend?
If I want to create a chart without a legend, how do I delete the legend created by default?
Deselect the Show Legend checkbox on the Frame property sheet. (This can be reached via either the right mouse menu or the Chart menu.)

The Oracle Reports Team

Basically, you need to customize the chart XML. That is quite easy to do.

    Hi,
The Legend cannot be 're-sized', it can only be 'moved'.
You may create this as an Enhancement at https://ideas.sap.com.

  • IChart_ Y Co-ordinate for all Tags in Legend

    Hello All,
I am using a ichart to display the trends of various parameters.(industrual parameters like motor temperature, amps, speed etc.)
I can see the X and Y value of the mouse or a when a single point is selected; I can see the X, Y co-ordinates of the selected point.
Can any body help me how can I see the values of all the tags in a chart in the Legend. (Whenever I move the mouse across x axis, I should be able to see the values of all the tags [Y co-ordinate values] at the current position.)
My requirement is similar to feature available in all SCADAs.
    Regards,
    Avdhoot

    Hi Avdhoot,
you should be able to do this by enabling the "Show Scooter" option on the General tab of the Display Template editor. Also make sure that "Show Legend" is ticked.
After saving this change, restart your browser (to clear the Java applet cache). Once enabled, you should see the y-axis values of each tag in brackets inside the legend box. These values will cahnge as you move your mouse cursor along the x-axis.
    Hope this helps,
    Sascha

    Hello,
Well here's your fix all the code is on the page.
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=11933:81
The code all goes into the chart attributes area in the onload and the header section.
Make sure to pay close attention to the onload
    }catch(er){}try{ChangeLegendHeight();
I was a little overzealous in catching javascript errors in the built in SVG so it doesn't work in Firefox unless you split the try and catch statements. This will get fixed in next version.
    Also this statement
if(document){svgDoc = document;} // this fixes Adobe Vs FF difference
should go into the first line of any custom javascript that you use in the SVG as it fixes a difference in the FF 1.5 implementation and Adobe Plugin again it will be fixed in next version.
Making these changes should allow you to run almost any javascript in the Builtin SVG charts so it opens up a lot of possibilities for customization and adding interaction.
    Have fun,
    Carl

  • Chart legend width in Firefox

This may already be common knowledge, but we just bumped into what may be the cause of truncated chart legends in Firefox.
I have been trying to figure out how to expand the width of the legend box that accompanies charts. Firefox sometimes renders the legend box too short to display the full value character strings. But sometimes Firefox renders the legend box with a wider width, so the value strings have plenty of room to fully be displayed.
IE, on the other hand, reduces the font of the text in the legend box and so can display the full values.
And then a co-worker noticed a pattern in the way Firefox renders the legend box.
If the "data point limit" set for a pie chart, for instance, is at least as great as the greatest number of values that can be displayed, Firefox renders the legend box with enough room for the full value character strings. It does not truncate the legend box.
For example, if the largest number of values that can be displayed in a pie chart is 10, if the "data point limit" for the chart is set to 11 or more, Firefox will render a legend box with sufficient width to display the full value strings.
On the other hand, if the "data point limit" is set to 10 or less when there can be 10 or more values for the column driving the pie chart, then Firefox will render a legend box that may not be wide enough to display the full value strings. The strings will thus be truncated to the render width of the legend box.
So far this behavior appears consistent. I

Actually, it is necessary only to set the "data point limit" equal to, not greater than, the maximum number of column values for a chart. So if the maximum number of column values is 10, if the "datda point limit" is set to 10, the legend box will be wide enough to display the full value strings. It can be set to a number greater than 10 as well, but that is not necessary for the legend box to be wide enough.

  • Legend Position

I'm creating a JSP pie chart in Reports 9i.
The legend labels are being truncated.
To fix this I increased the chart width using a "width=" tag.
If I increase the width by 200 pixels, however, the legend box itself is moved to the right by 100 pixels. This means I have to increase graph size by twice as much as should be necessary to eliminate the label truncation. This is a problem since these graphs are going into portlets, and size matters.
Is there anywah to 1/. control the position of the legend box or 2/. control the width of the legend box?
    Thanks.

Yes you can, the best way to do this is with a style
Create a custom style by using the webcharts designer.
    {cf_root}\charting\webcharts.bat
Create the look that you require for your cfchart with the
    GUI
Once you have everything as you require
Select the style tab of the webcharts (bottom of the screen)
Save this xml in a file to your web root/ directory where you
have the cfm to create the chart. ( you save the file by name
    "myChartStyle.xml" in wwwroot\charts directory.
Use the "style" attribute to import these settings in the
cfchart tag. e.g. you have cfm in wwwroot folder then you can do
    something like this
    <cfchart style="charts\myChartStyle.xml" ....

  • Text in flash chart legend

Hi- We are on APEX v3.1.2.00.02
A flash chart has been created and works well, but here is my issue:
In the Chart Series query, we have a select (here's a small piece) select total_rfc "Total R.F.C"
When the chart is generated, the legend box appears as Total R.F.C (as seen in the above line).
I really want it to say Total RFC (no periods). If I change the SQL query to "Total RFC", it appears as Total Rfc (2nd & 3rd letters are lower case).
Anyone know how to fix this? I'm fairly new to APEX and I can't quite determine if this is a SQL or Flash issue.

    Hi "msnewman",
The behaviour you are seeing is expected in APEX 3.1.2, and is due to the use of the Initcap function in the underlying logic, which is resulting in Legend values appearing with the initial letter in uppercase and the rest of the work in lowercase letters. When you remove the full stops from between R F and C, then the three letters are being picked up as one word, RFC, which will end up like Rfc after being updated by the Initcap function.
In APEX 4.0, however, this is no longer an issue. With Flash 5 charts it is possible to display the value all in uppercase, as you can see in the Bar Chart example here: http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=36648:5. So if you are contemplating upgrading to APEX 4.0.2, our latest release, you would be able to take advantage of this change to the behaviour of the chart legend, as well as much nicer looking Flash charts.

    Hilary

  • How do I flip the view of the legend bar so it is vertical instead of horizontal? I want the legend bar vertically positioned in my column chart.

I clicked the show legend button and edited it according to my data but it placed it horizontally. I need it vertical and there does not seem to be a function to flip the view. Does anybody know how to switch the view of the legend bar?

Use the handle at the left or right to the Legend box to reduce the width of the box. The strung-out list will change to columns, and eventually to a single column.

    Barry

  • XY graph position changes when legend position is set!.

    Hello All.
Try the example in attachment. When I change the position of the graph legend, the position of the total graph is changed!!! Or maybe I am doing something wrong?

    Hi Pawell,
the Position property returns the top left coordinates of the front panel object including its related objects.
If you place the legend above the graph, the Y coordinates refers to the upper position of the legend box rectangle; this is why if you move the legend up and down, the graph position value changes although you are not moving the plot area.
Ask if I haven't been clear enough.

  • Legend is incorrect

I'm probably just being picky, but the Legend on the right of this page is incorrect. When a question has been marked correct it receives a large green star, not a yellow star with a green check over it. I'm sure everyone could figure it out, but if you have a legend then it should show the correct icons ;).
    Anyone else notice this?

    Boneist wrote:
That's the symbol for a helpful answer.
It is possible for the OP to mark a question as answered and not assign points for the correct answer (or helpful answers either!), which may explain why you're not seeing a green star. I believe that in this example, when you view the question, the box at the top of the post says something like "This question is marked as answered - X helpful replies and 1 correct answer available" instead of "This question is marked as answered" when a correct answer is awarded the points. No, that's not what I'm talking about. The legend on the right shows a "correct answer" should appear as a yellow star with a green check over it. Instead, it actually appears as a large green star. Look at Hub's post (I've marked it correct, since it is) and then look at the Legend box on the right side of the page.

  • Cursor

    Hi
I want to show the cursor on the XY graph, but I want the reading of the cursor can display on the graph or indicator also can.I do not want to show in the legend box.how to set
another question is I just want horizontal cursor to display y-axis value,i do not want the x-axis value, how to remove in the legend box?
    thx in advance

If you right click the XY graph, go to the visible items and uncheck cursor legend. To display the values of the cursor using an indicator, go to your block diagram and right click the XY graph and goto Ceate--> Property Node --> Cursor -->Cursor Postion--> Cursor X. Now drag the blue drag block and it should display the y position as well. Then you can wire up indicators to it.
    Hope this helps!
