LENOVO SERVICE FOR B540

I have seen a lot of complaints in these forums and elsewhere related to unsatisfactory warranty service from Lenovo.  I think that it is important, therefore, to let everyone know of my positive warranty service experience.  My B540 repeatedly failed to boot, displaying the infamous Error 1962 message.  After spending about an hour on the phone with a clearly understandable U.S.-based Lenovo warranty rep, I was told that Lenovo was going to have their service techs install a new motherboard and some other parts.  The parts were briefly backordered, but within 1-1/2 weeks a service tech arrived at my house, replacing the motherboard and some cables in about an hour.  The B540 has functioned with no problems since then.  It is unfortunate that the computer malfunctioned in the first place, but Lenovo did everything that I could expect from a computer manufacturer to correct the problem.  Good going, Lenovo!
Solved!
Go to Solution.

I learned that the 1962 error code typically means either a) a bad hard drive, or b) a corrupted boot file.  However, my hard drive (the original that came with the computer) would boot correctly some of the time, and also worked just fine when I tried it in a different computer.  I usually try to solve things myself, so I actually tried two other brand new hard drives in the B540 before I contacted Lenovo.  The problem was the same with all of the drives; sometimes they booted and sometimes I got Error 1962.  I also thought that it might be a defective data cable, but Lenovo uses a proprietary combination power and date cable, so there was no way that I could put in a new standard data cable.  I explained all of this to Lenovo when I spoke with them, and they agreed that in light of the tests I had already done, it had to be either the data cable or the motherboard.  They sent both to the service tech, and he installed both.  Thus I will never know for sure whether it was the cable or the board, but obviously it must be less costly to pay their tech to install both at the same time rather than having to return later if only one or the other is installed and the problem persists.
Lenovo did, by the way, also send a new hard drive, but I told the tech that I wanted to try using the original (supposedly bad) hard drive first.  That original hard drive is working just fine. Based on what I've read in the Lenovo forums, the Error 1962 problem has plagued several B540 owners; I have never experienced this with other computers.

  • Lenovo service is not able to repair a X240 for 6 weeks now

For meanwhile 6 (!) weeks lenovo is not able to repair my X240. I never thought, that it would be so difficult to repair one of  lenovos highend laptops with 3 years service and extended warrenty
I have to mention, that this ist my 2nd X240. The first one was replaced by lenovo, because it was so bad build, that the local lenovo service denied to open the laptop.
The new one (4 months old) had until now two new displays,  three mainboards and a new SDD.
About the 10th of december i opened a service request at IBM ESC, because the laptop didn't boot and the new display (the one before died) showed such an extreme ghosting, that one could read on the lock-screen, what was on the screen, before i locked the screen. Second problem: the laptop didn't wake up from standby.
Got a ticket number, but the service needed weeks to get the needed parts.
In janaury 2015 the service showed up. Meanwhile the laptop booted again. They replaced the display and mainboard. The technician repaced the mainboard to be "sure" that this will not happen again. Result: the laptop didn't boot. His opinion: either the SDD or Mainboard or SSD cable is the reason. He did not use my "old" mainboard, instead he left and said they will contact me again. After he left i saw that he did not assemble the body of the laptop correct wtih the result, that above the rear battery the body was open and bent. And it happend.. nothing! They closed the ticket!!!
A week later the mailroom called and told me that ibm send a parcel. A new SSD! But.. no technician! So i called lenovo again. They told me to open the Laptop and replace the SSD. I refused that. The new X240 is not so easy to open. I told them too, that the SSD cable could be also the reason for the problem.
After DAYS (!) they send me a technician with a new mainboard and he repalced the SSD (which i had to send back to lenovo!). Again no success and he had no SSD cable.
I showed him the body of the laptop and he told me that this is not covered by the warenty. Pardon??? This was not my fault!
Lenovo didn't show up again until i called them. And again a new technician with a new mainboard and without an SSD cable showed up! And what happened? Right! Nothing! The new mainboard did not fix the problem! Surprise.
I called again the support. Told them, that i could not be so difficult to get an SSD cable and a technician.But.. they suggested to send the laptop back to lenovo to repair it. I told him that for 6 weeks the laptop is not working now and that i need that laptop fixed! I don't want to send it in and wait again weeks for the return. The extended warrenty says, that they will repair my laptop on my desk! He told me that he will solve my problem... And what did i get? Yeees, a sticker for a parcel and instructions how to contact UPS.
Sorry lenovo, that is the worst performance ever. 6 Weeks and lenovo is not able to replace a SSD cable and to get the laptop in the shape (closed body) that it was before 3 technicians ruined it.
So lenovo, sry, no carbon 2015 for me. I have to look for an other brand after a bunch of Thinkpads.

Thanks again - Alas, I've been there. Deleted Search a dozen times, at least, and tried installing it, initially using a PowerShell script (tried several scripts actually, from full-blown total Search Applications with extensive topologies to the most basic
of basics 'please just start without showing me errors'), PowerShell line-by-line to see where things went South, next tried installing through Central Admin (hoping that it was my own stupidity in overlooking things and hoping The System would get it right
for me), and eventually even tried using the config wizzard as a total and utter last resort - Nothing worked.
At first, I found out that removing a Service App needs a *little* bit more work than simply removing it through Central Admin, but by now I can truthfully state that if there's one thing I've become supergood at, it's removing Search Service Applications.Totally.
I will check out the article, though - I realized early on in my SharePoint experience that regardless of what you think you know, there's so much more to find out. I know, that's almost philosophical. That is, my friends, indeed the point I've reached...

  • Remote for B540 AIO

    Hi all,
I purchased a B540 AIO last month. But I still could not figure out what is the remote for. The remote model is RC2604327. The configuration number for the PC is 57311751. The remote doesn't seem like working with the PC at all.
I called the tech support, and was told that the remote is supposed to work with TV tuner only. Since my PC doesn't have TV tuner, so it won't work. But I simply could not understand, why Lenovo send me a remote in the package that they know it won't work. And eventually it's piece of garbage that I can't throw into trash can for environmental reason. Lenovo is still selling the same PC with the same remote in configuration. Detail could be found at http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:item.detail?...
Anyway, all these don't sound reasonable to me. I am wondering, is it true? Or actually I got a defective IR remote?
    Thanks,
    -Shane

    hi faint2die,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Community.
The tech support representative is right, the remote control model # RC2604327 is for the TV Tuner (see 23 of User's Guide on how it works - also, the TV tuner is an add-in for B540 selected models).
If you're not planning on getting a TV Tuner add-in, you can try to sell it on ebay for an extra $$.
    Cheers,
    neokenchi

  • Lenovo H520s "Lenovo Service Partion has been destroyed".

    Hello all,
Yesterday, an error started to appear on my H520s saying that the lenovo service partion has been destoryed. The only option I have to clik is OK, and each time I press it, it simply says Can not find script file "X:\onekey\main\Irscall.vbs". Then I clik the OK again, and it seems to restart the computer.
I have tried entering the BIOS many times, and figured out it was "F1". The problem is, I cannot access my operating system, and what's worseis that it is Windows 8, and it came pre-installed on the computer.
The problem with Windows 8 is I can't access boot manager to use a recovery disk, or enter safe mode without actually having to enter the operating system.
I have looked around the forums and many other websites, but it seems all those with this same problem, have Windows 7.
No recovery disks came with the computer, but I do have 2 recovery disks and a recovery USB, that I made a while after I got the computer, which I got about 1 week ago, and is still brand new.
I also have an external hard disk which contains my backup, that goes by the name "Seagate Backup".
Do you guys have any solutions, if so try and make sure it's for Windows 8 not Windows 7.
    Thanks,
    Lavendar

Similar problem with me here with similar machine and I seev you have been waiting for an answer for 4 months!!

  • Lenovo service complaint

    Hi,
I'm not entirely sure if this is the correct place to be posting about this but can I get help regarding a warranty claim.
I've sent in my laptop to the service centre about a month ago, precisely on the 16 of August due to some problems with the laptop. At that point where I handed over my laptop I was told that they would inform me regarding the diagnosis of the problem as well as an estimation of the period which the laptop would take to be fixed.
But as a matter of fact I was never contacted after two weeks which then I tried to contact the service centre where my call only went through after about 30 to 40 times? Even then they didn't inform me regarding the problem while only mentioning parts to fix the laptop has been ordered and waiting to be fixed by the technicians.
Today I've already tried to call the service centre multiple times with no one answering but during one of the calls my call was accepted and immediately cut. Can I know whether do you guys have a standards regarding your service centre operations for them to be doing something like this or is it that you guys just don't give a **bleep** once a sale been made? Pardon my language because I thought with the amount of support and recommendation that I've seen Lenovo has been receiving, I expected better service or at least a professional level service from a Lenovo service centre branch.
What I would like to know now is where I can direct my complaint and/or possibly get this matter resolved?

    raxan,
Sorry to hear about your repair delays - thanks for sharing them.
We can certainly try to arrange some asistance for you.  Would you send me a private message with your contact information - name, phone, the system tyep and serial number and any of the service case numbers you may have?

  • Lenovo service with customer supplie parts

I'd prefer to buy my parts (new) and install with Lenovo service.  Does it happen? What are typical costs under warranty?
I am thinking about processor/heatsink upgrade on a D20.  Also replacing a noisy fan.
    Thanks!

    Thank you Lenovo
To my surprise when my case was escilaed to a Coustomer service Rep my issue was taken care of within one day. The coustomer service throigh the philipines run around in circles and cannot give you the answers requested. However, when forewarded to a hgigher rep in my case in the USA the issue is taken care of incredibly fast. they sent me the screws. The rep who helped me even send a short hand written note apologizing for the issue with my repair. This went from a bad experiance with lenovo to a much better one. Thanks to the one human connection.

  • Lenovo Service Trigger in DOS Window on startup

    After Windows (7, 32) desktop displays, a DOS window displays for a few seconds.  It contains the following;
    Lenovo Service Trigger v0.1
    Event registered successfully.
    Start Event successfully raised.
    Unregister rrservice provider successfully!
It always goes away and does not seem to affect anything, but...it makes me nervous to see something like this when there is no obvious explanation (can't see it in Event Viewer).  Anyone know what it is?

  • Just to share GREAT Experience with Lenovo Service with T61p one long two short beeps

Two weeks ago my laptop just suddenly died for no reason. It was in sleep mode and never woke up. I have researched some forums and found that the best thing to do is try to call the number of Lenovo service. I cannot remember it right now, but please check another thread t61p and one long two short beeps. The laptop was out of warranty and according to lenovo site it was 31. July was the last day for replacement claims, however nobody asked a question regarding warranty or replacement. Lenovo sent the box promptly and whole turnaround was in 3 days.
I was really surprised with efficiency and service.
So, if you are in the same situation please give it a try.
    Good Luck!

I have used support service a few times and they have always been professional and helpful the support center in Ga. I called last night for my wireless card its on the way to me now I've never had any problems

    Hi Expert,

I am trying to view a note in Vendor Master data but no information provided and I can only see white screen. Below are the steps that I performed:
    1. Go to FK03
    2. Open a Vendor
    3. Click the Services for Objects
    4. Attachement List
    5. Select a Note
    4. Display it
    5. Pop up window appreared and no information occurred. Only White screen
Is there's a missing configuration, plugin, or data in my SAP system/workstation?
I tried to login to other PC and it worked.
Just wondering what is missing on my computer.
    Your response will be helpful.

    Hey,
I have the exact same problem as you have described. I also used my ipod as a watch but starting from today, whenever I unlock it the screen turns white until a reset is done. Even a factory reset through itunes didn't fix it.
    Have you found any solution?
    Bah, this is annoying.

  • IDOC-Xi-IDOC: CRM - XI -R/3 (No service for system SAPOCC, client ** in ID)

    Hi all
I am doing a scenario IDOC - Xi - IDOC where CRM sends an IDOC to R/3 via PI.
I have configured everything in OCC (CRM system), PI and BSC (R/3 system) but when I test it with the transaction WE19 in OCC nothing happens in PI or BSC.
All i can see if a message in SM58 transaction in OCC.
    Function Module - IDOC_INBOUND_ASYNCHRONOUS
    Target System - XI.
Status Text - No service for system SAPOCC, client *** in Integration Directory.
Could anyone tell me what is the problem.
Your help will be very much appreciated
    Regards
    Naina

Error message: No service for system SAPCRD client 201 in the integration directory
Cause: There is no service without party in PI server that represents OCC server with client details.
    Solution:
We send IDocs from system OCC to PI. In the control record (Segment EDIDC40) of the IDoc, the SNDPOR (SenderPort) field contains the value "SAPCRD". The client of the sending system is determined by the MANDT field of the control record. The system ID and client are then used to determine a service without party of the type (business-system/business-service)
In System Landscape Directory (SLD) create a technical system for OCC system and assign a client for the same. Don't forget to assign an "ALE logical system" to the technical system created. Create a business system for this technical system. Then Business System can be imported under service without party/update the details existing in PI.

  • Basis: No service for system , client  in Integration Directory??

    Hi All,
IDocs from SAP QA are not being sent to PI QA. I see error in SM58 in SAP QA as: No service for system , client  in Integration Directory.  Please dont jump to asnwers by looking at above error. I could fix that, but thats not the real problem.
    Because I have checked
    1) SLD home page ---> Technical Landscape --> Select Web AS ABAP --> Select the technical system --> Clients ---> Click on the client used as Business system --> Here look for the logical system is defined (No Problem here, as logical systems is defined).
    2) ID---> Click on Objects --> Service Without party/Party > Double click on business system>On the tright side--> Service --> Adapter specific Identifiers ---> Check IDoc Adpater, Logical System (No Problem here as I see Logical System).
But I can't find values R/3 System ID and Client under "IDoc Adapter and RFC Adapter". I think thats problem here, when I click on "Compare with SLD" in edit mode, values are not getting populated into R/3 System ID and Client. It makes think there is communication error from ID to SLD. How I do confirm if its the real problem?
    3) Checked Note 940313 - IDoc adapter: Error messages in SM58, No problem here
    4) Did SLDCHECK from PI QA, works fine, no problems here
Both PI DEV and PI QA pointing to the same SLD. When I send IDocs from SAP QA to PI DEV, everything works fine. I can't send IDoc from SAP QA to PI DEV (changed RFC des to point to PI QA, it shouldn't be a problem).
How do I find out if communication between PI QA - ID is workign fine with the SLD? Is there any other issue you can think of causing the above error?
    Thank You,
    Indrasena Janga

*I have trobleshooted  a similar issue. In my case also the tRFC failed with the error "No service for system SAP, client 400 in Integration Directory".There were 11 IDOCS associated with this tRFC and when I saw control record of first IDOC,in sender information ,the sender partner number was wrong.Instead of "SAPSID",it was found as just "SAP".Where as the remaining ten were maintained with correct sender partner number.remaining ten IDOCS were dependant on first one.

  • Lenovo Services/Program takes a long time to start after bootup

It seems like Lenovo services take a long time to start after boot up is completely done.
My Bootup time is less than a minute (0:51s), but my lenovo services (Power Manager Gauage, Lenovo Services in the Sidebar, have th ThinkVanatage Button work, and most annoying of all is having access to my network card to change networks) takes about 2 minutes.
Is there a reason why this is taking so long?
I've uninstalled and installed the lastest Lenovo Interface Driver, and a lot of ThinkVantage/Lenovo software and drivers.
    Any ideas?

    No response?
Anyone else on T400 notice this?
