Leopard install is not recognizing my current OS

Hello I am trying to install OS X v10.5 Leopard and it keeps telling me it cannot be upgraded. It also says OS X v10.4 or later could not be found on my iMac,which I have v10.4.10.Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? Thanks

Mine installed fine choosing the "Upgrade" option. Then all the problems started. It took my iBook 15 minutes to start up. Lucky, I backed up everything before the upgrade. I zeroed data, and installed a fresh copy of Leopard, and reloaded my files. Now its been problem free, and is slightly faster than Tiger.
I think it might be worth while to skip the upgrade, and at the very least do a clean install.
Good Luck!

That's a good question. I may have installed FP 10.1 Beta in many of the attempts to resolve the issue. I've scanned my registry for any reference to Flash and removed anything that remotely resembles Flash Player (of course backing up Registry first). I've run uninstall_flash_player.exe, which doesn't appear to do anything. I've checked logs and there's no reference to Flash Player being installed.
When I go to the link provided ( http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/) I get the messageThe version of Adobe® Flash® Player ActiveX that you are trying to install is not the most current version. Please visit http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer to obtain the latest, most secure version. and when I look at the log (install.log) I see an attempt to install Flash Player. Here's the most recent log file:

  • Error : The version of Adobe Flash you are attempting to install is not the most current version

    1. I was upgrading from Adobe CS5 and based on Adobe's own recommendations I uninstalled all Adobe products prior to installing Adobe Creative Suite. This included not only Adobe CS5 but ALSO FLASH v16.
    2. After uninstalling all Adobe products (including Flash 16) I rebooted the computer and installed the latest build generated for Adobe Create Suite.
    3. After installing Adobe Create Suite I attempted to reinstall Flash but it will not let me install it.
    4. The error received is "The version of Adobe Flash you are attempting to install is not the most current version".
    5. Flash is NOT installed and when running the "Is Flash Present" test from Adobe's site the answer is NO.

  • ADE installed but not recognized

I am using Windows 10, a Nook, My Media Mall.  ADE is installed, my computer authorized and I am activated.  When I download an E book, it appears to be downloaded, but when I try "open with" the only option showing is Adobe Reader. Then, I look for other programs but ADE is not listed as an option.  Is there something I have not done?

Windows 7 and IE 11 ... I also use Firefox, for business only.

  • The version that you are trying to install is not the most current version

I have multiple snapshots of this one. I am trying to install Adobe Flash Player on a Windows7 64bit machine from adobe.com. I keep getting the following error:
The version of Adobe Flash Player ActiveX that you are trying to install is not the most current version. Please visit (adobewebsite) to obtain the latest, most secure version.
This is the message that I am getting from Adobe.com website!
I tried uninstalling multiple times + reinstalling, same error. I tried offline installing, same error (is not the most current version).
    Help?

Hi, It may be helpful if you read over this troubleshooting guide by Adobe.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html
If you decide to Uninstall and Install again, I would use the "executable" which you can download to your Desktop.
Have you previously installed any beta version? I'm sure you know you need to use the 32bit browser since Flash Player
is not supported on the 64bit.
The Anti-Virus/Firewall, Security Settings for IE, Permission requirement are important. Also the necessity of Rebooting twice after the Uninstall for IE, to make sure old files are removed.
If you have any questions, just post back.
    Thanks,

  • Updated To Snow Leopard And Now Not RecogNizing Admin and password

Did a search, but didn't find the same thing(Just new system not SAVING passwords).
I updated from 10.5.8 to 10.6.1. First off, many apps wouldn't open(Spinning ball), and when going to update the OSX further, the admin/password screen popped up, with no admin name, as well as no password. When inputting info, it says they're incorrect. I double-checked my account info, and it's just not recognizing me. I hesitate to do a fresh install because of the time it will take with all the apps to re-install(Plus I wiped HD 2 weeks ago). Any suggestions are appreciated.

Since this happened after installation, this forum seemed appropriate. However, after looking around more, found that a number of people(Although the minority)are having the same problem, and are talking in account and login, so off I go.

  • Old (Really Old) Apple Files /Disks Not Recognized by Current Computers

This has doubtless been asked before, but I could not find anything in the 6 pages of recent postings under "Older Apple Products."
How can I access old Applewriter and Clarisworks / Appleworks word processing documents and save in an updated format? I was able to retrieve most old documents by going back to OS 9 and use Appleworks 5, then use OS X and Appleworks 6.2.9 to save in newer format. However, some very old documents are on 3.5 disks that are not recognized by my current Apple computers, or my Windows XP laptop.

    Cloyd G wrote:

You appear to be talking about two separate issues—translating the files from an earlier version of ClarisWorks/AppleWorks to the AW 6 file format, and retrieving the old files from disks that cannot be read by your current machines.
You have solved the first issue—If you can access the files, you are able to open them with AW 5, Save them, then open the saved copies with AW 6.
For the second issue, you are going to need a Mac with a 3.5" drive that is capable of reading the disks on which the files are stored.
3.5" floppy disks came in three varieties. From oldest to newest, these were Single sided (400 KB. These had a single hole, near the top edge of the case, with a write protect slider used to prevent data from being written to the disk), Double sided (same, 800 KB, with two holes, one of which had the write protect slider) and High Density (double sided, 1.44 MB, identifiable by stylized "HD" molded into case). The early Macs came with a 400 KB drive. The last of the pre-iMac versions had HD drives. When the original iMacs(with no floppy drive) were introduced, some third parties offered external HD floppy drives that plugged into the new USB slot. Note that pre-iMac machines did not include USB.
Once you have a machine with a floppy drive that you can use to read the files, you can collect the files on that machine's hard drive. From there you can move the files to your current machine, open and save them with AW 6.
Moving the files from one machine to the other can be done via ethernet, email, or sneakernet A or B.
A: Burn the files to a CD. Copy from the Cd to your current machine.
B: Save the files to a Flash drive. Copy then to the new machine.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • Otf fonds are installed, but not recognized by Windows XP

I moved InDesign CS3 to a now notebook (Dell Latitude E6500).
After a quiet installation, everything looked ok at first glance.
When opening a document which I worked on yesterday on the old Notebook (Dell Latitude D800, 4 years old), the Myriad Pro font was missing.
In the Windows fonts directory, the files are there.
Doubleclicking on such a font brings an errormessage
C:\Windows\Fonts\MyriadPro-Semiboldit.otf was not a valid font.
InSDesign CS3 V5.0.4 does not list that fonts.
all other fonts are listed and are working.
I tried something like installing fonts manually, reinstalling InDesign, install the latest graphicdriver but nothing helped.
Currently I am unable to work with Indesign on that notebook.

    The problem is solved now.
On installing Linotype fonts I had the same problem,
so it could not be on Adobes side.
Finally it turned out that Dell's graphic drivers for that notebook are malfunctioning.
Interestingly I found this information on a user forum at Dell's homepage. That entry was more than 4 weeks old but Dell still allows you to download just one graphicdriver which is not working properly.
Maybe others have the same problem, they should download the driver 178.08 from the website www.laptopvideo2go.com.

  • Windows 7 Install USB not recognized.

There are countless threads with problems similar to this, but endless searching and googling has gotten me nowhere.
I am on an iMac running OS X Version 10.8.3 (just upgraded to mountain lion from snow leopard 10.6 yesterday).
I have two USB sticks, one I have successfully installed the windows support software on, and the other I have successfully created a windows 7 install disk.
I am unable to even begin the windows install- no matter what I do I can't get the computer to recognize this USB as a bootable device.
I have tried going through bootcamp and can initial the windows install, but then I get the black screen "No bootable disc.. press any key to continue."
If I try restarting the computer and holding and "option" button, the USB does not show up as an option.
I have tried bootcamping this mac for MONTHS to no avail.  I really don't know what else to do. Thanks for your help.

okay, so I have the MBP Retina and I also get the "No bootable disc.. press any key to continue." message. Funny thing is, it worked perfectly fine before using the exact same iso file and usb. I wanted to install windows a-new and now get this error, no matter what I do. When I installed Windows for the first time I still had ML 10.8.0 or 10.8.1. No with 10.8.3 it won't work anymore. I have already played around with the info.plist file, without any results.
    any ideas?!

  • Install disc not recognized

I just put a new hard drive in my MBP 15", and need/want to install Leopard. My Leopard dvd is an upgrade disc, so I have first to install Tiger. However, when I insert my Tiger dvd, I get a flashing dark folder icon with a question mark. Presumably, the start-up info isn't found my Tiger dvd. Any ideas why? I get the same result when I try to start up from a Jaguar cd too. Pete

    Pete N wrote:
I should add that the Tiger install disc does work on my wife's laptop--at least to the extent that I can start up from the disc, something that I can't do on my computer. I guess it's time to dive back into my computer and make sure that I didn't leave something disconnected...
After installing the new drive, did you reset the PRAM and NVRAM?
It's a remote possibility since you can't boot from the CDs, but worth a try.
It's also possible that your optical drive is either bad, or as you suggest, may have a cable improperly attached.
An improperly attached cable could also prevent the system from booting normally.
When it boots, do you hear the normal chimes, indicating the system passsed the POST? If not, the chime count will tell you what might be wrong.
Another test would be to see if you can boot into an external drive.

  • Upgrade to Snow Leopard: Previous Bootcamp not recognized

I upgraded to OSX 10.6.8 and now my previous Bootcamp install (windows xp service pack 3)  not being recognized as a startup disk item. The bootcamp partition (named BOOTCAMP) is still active on my Mac Desktop- just not being seen as a startup disk in "startup disk" in System Preferences.
    Macbook Pro- 2007 model
    4G RAM/
    2.33 INTEL Core 2 Duo

After this happens, have you tried disconnecting the drive and immediately connecting a different USB device (perhaps a flash drive) to the same port the Iomega drive was using, just to see whether the port is still active or has shut down? The behavior sounds like what one would see if the drive were drawing too much power from the USB port, causing the port to shut down. But ordinarily there is an error message that accompanies the shutdown and explains that it's because of a device drawing too much power. And of course your drive shouldn't be drawing power from the port at all unless its AC power supply is failing — but if its power supply were bad, it wouldn't work with your Powerbook.
It's an odd and puzzling problem, and I have no explanation for it.

  • HT1338 Snow Leopard install will not finish.

Im attempting to install Snow Leopard on my mac and at about the time the install says "46 minutes ramaining" the install then says "install will finish after your computer restarts". My copmputer restarts an nothing happens. Nothing is installed or anything. I have tried booting the copmputer with the disk but that didnt work either.

    Chris.Esparza wrote:
My computer just boots normally as it did. It is in version 10.5.8. The build is 9L31a. It says that I have an invalid volume directory count and filesystem verify or repair failed when I attempt to verify my hard drive. My mac is probably around three years old. It does meet the requirements for 10.6. I would not be a problem to start with a fresh system as I do not have much on the computer.
The invalid directory count and file system errors need to be fixed before the operating system installation can proceed. The new operating system install copies in more than 200,000 new files and with the invalid directory errors, this will get worse.
When looking at "About This Mac," what is the Processor identified as? It should say "Intel something ..."
Click on your Macintosh HD and under the File Menu, select Get Info. How much disk space have you used and how much is available?
Anyway, assuming you have an Intel processor and plenty of disk space, the next step would be to boot from the 10.5 Install DVD OR from the 10.6 install DVD, and run Disk Utility from that DVD. Select Repair Disk (not Verify Disk) from the options shown on the buttons in Disk Utility. By the way, I suggest that you copy important files off this disk to a backup before doing this repair, just in case something is really wrong with the hard drive and it actually fails, or in case a reformat is needed.
If the Disk Utility indicates that it fixed something, run it again until it reports back that the disk is ok. If it reports back that it is unable to repair the problem that it found, that's another issue that can be dealt with with other tools.
If this were my computer, I would also test the memory, as a bad memory chip can cause such file system errors. The Apple Hardware Test (that came originally with your computer on the accompanying DVDs) will check memory, but it isn't as good a test as MemTest
    http://download.cnet.com/Memtest/3000-2094_4-32926.html
Has your computer been freezing much lately, or having other problems?
In any case, you should not proceed with the 10.6 upgrade until the file system errors are fixed.

  • Windows 7 Pro Install disk not recognized

    Hi everyone,
I have checked this forum and found several discussions regarding this topic but no clear solution.  I am trying to create a Windows 7 Boot Camp partition on my late 2008 MacBook Pro.  I have a DVD drive with the following specs:
    MATSHITADVD-R   UJ-868:
      Capacity: 3.22 GB (3224993792 bytes)
      Model: MATSHITADVD-R   UJ-868
      Revision: KB19
      Serial Number: dE018A75
My problem is that my drive/computer will not recognize the disk.  I have several times inserted the autentic Windows 7 Pro install disc that I puchased from Microsoft, only to get the following error in Boot Camp: Install Disk Could Not Be Found
I should mention that I have installed windows with this install disc on this computer with the existing DVD drive before. I have no idea why it is not working this time!
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!

Have you tried to install without the driver? then install the boot camp drivers after Windows has been installed.

When I try to open a document, I keep getting a message saying I need to install the latest edition.  I have it, and it is installed...... Does anyone know what's going on, or how to fix it???

Are you launching Pages from an icon in your Dock? Installing the update does not change the Dock icons & it does not remove the older versions. Go to your Applications folder & launch the new Pages from there.
