  • Can I have a decreased / cheaper monthly priced membership for some time, by keeping active only Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC, InDesign CC and Acrobat?

Hello, and good evening from Athens, Greece.
I would like to ask a question concerning my CC membership.
I’ve started 1 and a half year ago by paying 29,99 € for the entire CC (all programs). Now, it’s 49,99 € and I’m having a really difficult time to keep it this way. I’m living in a country which is in the middle of crisis and my profession as a graphic designer, is not an exception to reduced spendings on advertising.
My question is, can I have a decreased / cheaper monthly priced membership for some time, by keeping active only Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC, InDesign CC and Acrobat? I don’t need for now the other apps. Can I have a membership plan only for those applications? I would very much appreciate your respond, a help and a solution to my issue.
    Thank you very much.
    Michael.
P.S. Forgot to tell, that I have a purchased Design Standard CS3 Suite. If this helps.

No... there is a special Photography plan

  • InDesign to Adobe Acrobat to Adobe Reader Link problem

Hi - I'm responsible for a long conversation about link problems in creating file links in InDesign that did not work in Acrobat. At the end of that long discussion, I thought I solved the problem, but didn't. Since then, I've been MUCH more observant.
The problem appears to take place in Adobe Reader.
My home computer on Win7 is different than my work Computer (XP), but I have the same software on both.
At work, I discovered that when I clicked on a PDF, it worked fine, that its links opened a new PDF window, but when I clicked on links on the second document, the links failed and Microsoft returned an error message telling me that I was screwed. Because I was screwed, I couldn't see what was in the path of that error.
It turns out that for some unknown reason (which you might clarify for me), my Adobe Readers are attempting to open my documents in Internet Explorer and that just won't work.
What I observed at home is that I made 5 test documents in ID, and ported them to Acrobat. As it turns out, my default for opening PDFs is Adobe Reader, which I saw on the chrome of the first document I opened. When I clicked a link, and I got the error message, I noticed my browser was up.
When I set my default for opening in Acrobat, everything worked like a charm! How about that!
Now then, what that says to me is that Adobe Reader is to be used exclusively with a browser, so if the people who are going to read your internal PDF files with Reader without those files being on a web server of some type, you are totally screwed. The only way you can use Reader is if you click on the file and bring it up directly. Don't rely on linking to other documents.
I mean, that is what it seems to me.
Now, I am creating a big project for an environment without a webserver and obviously my sense of panic is palpable. That said, I believe that all my users can read my files using Acrobat (to be tested tomorrow), which I hope means I can breathe a bit easier.
Do any of you have any thoughts on this subject? If you are really curious, I can make a packet of test files available.

    Karen_Little wrote:
The files and the PDFs are all in the same directory.
The tests are on local drives. All indesign files and their related PDFs were in the same directory.
The same for Word and its related PDFs. Note that the PDFs created by Word then read by Adobe Reader worked correctly. They all opened in Adobe Reader.
If the default program for opening PDFs is Acrobat, everything works correctly, with the added benefit of everything opening in a different window, which is what I want (yet to be tested at work). If the default program is Adobe Reader, the second generation of links do NOT work because Reader opens in Internet Explorer.
When I open a Word-created PDF with Acrobat, view the link, and click to the Actions menu, the action is "Open a file"
When I open an InDesign PDF with Acrobat and do the same, the action says "Open a web link"
    Big BIG BIG bug.
Are you seeing the link commands by editing them in Acrobat? If not, try, so you can see the exact command and file or URL instruction. It still may be a bug, but you'll have better evidence when you report it here:
Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form
And, you might want to try correcting a link command in Acrobat, to see if can work for both Acrobat and Reader.

  • What happen to TOTAL TRAINING, where i can buy a tutorial in DVD of a creative cloud CC Design: InDesign, photoshop, illustrator, acrobat?

Many year ago, i bought the entire collection of DVD of Total Training of the Creative Suite Design, and came with InDesign, Photoshop, illustrator, acrobat, version cue, and was wonderfull learn all, now 10 years ago, i try to get now the Creative Cloud CC for Design, and only found tutorials online, or with Lynda.com any sugestions?

Looking at the current options readily accessible on Adobe.com, for students and teachers it appears that the only options are to get the entire suite for $20/month or the photographers bundle (LR + PS) for $100/year thru Aug 29, so not sure what the price would be, now, so no there is not a way to get 3 apps for cheaper than the entire suite, since there is no single-app price.
If it’s any consolation, for non-educational individuals, the single app price is $20/month and the full-suite price is $50/month, so for three applications like you want to use, it’d be cheaper to go with the full-suite than buy three individual app subscriptions.
The bottom line is that as a student or teacher you’re able to access the full suite of apps for the price of a single app once you’re out of school, and that is as low as Adobe will go.

  • I'm working mostly with CS6 Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator and Acrobat Pro X. Can I update from 10.6.8 to Mavericks without any problems?

Can I update to Mavericks without any problems for CS6 Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator and Acrobat Pro X?

I can't guarantee it, but I think it's very likely you'll have no problems. Mavericks is now up to 10.9.3, and it's extremely stable.

What version of Reader are they using, exactly? And are you sure they're
using Reader itself and not opening the file inside a browser window, for
    example?

  • Druckprobleme NUR aus Indesign auf HP M551n Farblaserdrucker - merkwürdige "Schatten"

    Hallo Community,

  • How do I create the highest quality pdfs with InDesign CS5 and Acrobat Pro 9?  New settings needed?

I sent a lot of jobs to printing companies by sending them high-res proofs on very large, multiple page jobs with lots of photos and graphics.  Many companies are requesting that I just send pdfs.  I just upgraded to Windows 7 and CS5.  I used to have some special settings in my older Acrobat Distiller  and InDesign which have been lost.  They gave a much better result that what I seem to be getting from the "Press Quality" setting for pdf's.  Does anyone have an excellent list of settings that can used to improve the quality of pdf's?  I don't know if this is a combination of settings in both InDesign itself, as well as in Acrobat Distiller, or if the settings in one program will solve this.  I have a job pending that needs improvement in the pdf quality.  Thank you.

Thanks Peter.  My last post was specific to using the Print Booklet feature (which is now solved thanks to your help).  But this is related to creating high-res pdfs in general that go to printing companies, and being used for sending high-res proofs to clients.  In general I don't need to set up printer spreads for my jobs (just for the one I asked about in my other post), but I used to have some specific settings that a printing company supplied me with to give the highest res pdf output possible.  Those settings did in fact give a better result than the Press Quality settings built into my Adobe programs.  I have had printers over the years request that I create a postscript file, then use distiller (using the settings they supplied) and I got an excellent result.  After getting a new computer, Windows 7 and new CS5 and Acrobat Pro 9 upgrade, all of these settings were lost.  I have notes on the settings from a couple of years ago, but they don't seem to apply to the CS5 programs in every given area and I feel like there may be just a couple of boxes that either should or shouldn't be checked that I'm missing now.
I understand that this is very specific information, and I may just need to go with the Press Quality settings. The printing company that gave me that great info a while back is no longer in business and other printing companies I have checked with won't spend that kind of time with me (or maybe they don't know anything other than using the Print Quality setting).   Maybe within the CS5 program now, the quality of this setting has been improved more than I realize yet.  Again, I'm new to CS5 and am just trying to get everything back to the way I used to have things running, and trying to get the best results possible.
    Thanks again!

  • Interactive PDF created in InDesign CS6 crashes Acrobat XI

Just finished laying out an interactive document in InDesign and exporting to as an interactive PDF to Acrobat. The document is 48 pages and has 3 pop-up TOC's for each of the 3 sections. There are several other hyperlinks, top and bottom nav menus. The document opens fine but when we try to open either of the TOCs Acrobat either crashes or the menu will pop up with buttons not visible. I have gone through the document several times and rechecked all button settings. Everything appears in order. The document navigates perfectly in SWF preview and when exported as a SWF or HTML. Can't figure out where the glitch is. I'm in the Cloud so have the latest versions of all software. The project is on a very tight deadline and is part of a presentation in 2 days. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, how did you resolve it? Please help.

Made each menu item a separate text frame and created text anchors/destinations. In buttons and forms panel, set event to go to destination "on release or tap" and chose "hidden until triggered." For each menu there's also a close button. Set "show/hide" for menu items and close button and set the main button that opens the menu to "show" the entire TOC. Each of the TOCs are on their own layers. Very straightforward, nothing fancy.

  • Multiple Problems with PDF InDesign, Bridge, and Acrobat Reader

I create proof books with a blend of Adobe Bridge & InDesign.
Here is my work flow: I will BOLD the errors I am having and need help with.
Step 1.) I create contact sheets in Bridge and save them as PDF's
Problem with Bridge ( I have another posting for this thread as well under Bridge) I cannot save PDF's larger than 400ish photos at 300ppi (important for my printer) without it saving as a blank PDF. COMPLETELY EMTPY! So I have to split up my photos into groups of 400 or less photos then patch them back together.
Problem with Acrobat: If I patch those PDF’s back together with Adobe Acrobat (a suggestion from another person on here) they save great but I get an error when I try to import them in indesign. The error reading: ERROR. Cannot determine page count.
Please open the PDF file in Acrobat, do a “Save As…” and try again. (99)
Step 2.) I use a script (MultiPageImporter2.2.1.jsx) to import the PDF's into Indesign. (if saved as one pdf in acrobat I get the above error)
Problem With InDesign: I run this importer script in InDesign to create my books with a template I use from my printers. Well since I have to import multiple pdf with multiple pages ( because I can’t piece them together without the above error. Then I have this problem:
I place a pdf with 1-226 pages in. I start this on page 1.
I place the next pdf with 1-141 pages in. I start this on page 227.
An error pops up that says I MUST start my import on page 226!!!!!!!!!! I don’t want to import on page 226 because I have two photos on that page!
I tried it several ways and no matter what I loose my last page of my first import.
PLEASE someone help me! I feel like I might be doing something really silly but I’ve spent 7.5 hours today working on this books with error after error.
I have done all the updates on my computers and nothing works. I use two macs and both have the same errors. I have a mac-book Pro | snow leopard and a Imac | snow leopard.
    Thanks much!

All your problems seem to stem from the PDFs that you are making from Bridge.  What you are describing should be perfectly possible, but the fact that Bridge doesn't want to make a PDF with more than 400 photos and it all goes downhill from there makes me suspect Bridge.
Here's a plugin that may help?  Looks pretty cheap for what it does.
Apart from that I'd try to clean up the PDFs that Bridge is producing if Indesign doesn't like them.  One way would be to print to a new PDF, after you've combined them as necessary.
As to the last pronlem you mention, where it forces you to place on page 226, have you tried creating a blank page 227 first, before you try placing?

  • Easier PDF file reduction through InDesign than in Acrobat. WHY?

Three Creative Suites apps were involved in this:
I've spent a long evening following numerous instructions to reduce the a 14 page B&W PDF file through optimizer settings in Acrobat X Pro. Pages of a paper doc  were scanned in Photoshop as Black and White at about 200 dpi and each saved as a Photoshop PDF using the "smallest size" setting.  The 14 pages were assembled in Acrobat X Pro. I tried every recommended optimize setting and NOTHING ever got it below 19.3 MB.
Yet when I placed that same large pdf, page for page, into an inDesign document and exported it using the same "smallest size" option,  the results are astoundingly different. The resulting file from InDesign was 1.4 MB. Perfect! When viewed in Preview, both the large file and the new one created with InDesign looked nearly identical. I could have skipped using Acrobat altogether by using InDesign to assemble pages and TRULY get the smallest sized file without complicated optimizing settings. And that doesn't seem right somehow.
Is there anything in Acrobat, that's as simple as that to reduce a file? If Creative Suite works together, perhaps Acrobat can learn something from InDesign about ease.

    1. If you want to reduce the resolution and control the size of things made in Photoshop, the best place to do that is Photoshop, which has the most sophisticated image processing. If you wanted 200 dpi, then it seems odd to reduce it; if you didn't want 200 dpi, then why save it that way? Also, look closely at the compression settings when saving the Photoshop PDF.
    2. Photoshop PDF can be problematic to reduce because Photoshop "hides" extra informaiton in the PDF - a complete second copy of the image sometimes. You might be able to fix this, but again the solution is to get the pages the size you want first. Still, a Photoshop PDF is likely to be larger, and stay larger, than the corresponding page exported from PDF. (Some people have found the optimizer setting "Discard private data of other applications" helps).
    3. It may seem unnatural to use InDesign, but that is definitely the best path. Acrobat is never the ideal place to do document assembly - just because it can do it doesn't mean it is the best choice. InDesign is a specialist tool for assembling finished documents.
    4. If this all sounds convoluted, then why not scan into Acrobat? (Perhaps OCR would be suitable too)

  • InDesign CS5 and Acrobat 8

I am using ID 5 and Acrobat 8. My client marks up changes on a pdf for me to change the ID file. I used to be able to copy the text from the Acrobat file and simply paste it into the ID file. For some reason it wont do it. So I am having to type UGGGGGGGHHHH the copy. Any Ideas Why?
Help will be appreciated as I am doing an over 300 page catalog.

    * It's possible that the file's been secured.
    * Perhaps a layer's been added, though PDF layers began in Acrobat 9, IIRC.
    * Perhaps the PDF was "edited" in an application other than a qualified PDF editing tool like Acrobat.
    * Perhaps the PDF was imported to an iInDesign "container" document, where the pages become uneditable graphics and then exported from the container.
    * Do you have sufficient operating system permissions? Are the changes created as InDesign comments, typewriter notes, text editing comments?
    * Can you export any of the marked up text to another file?
