Less Trip to Database through Package(Discarded thread repeat twice)

Hi Freineds,
I want to improve performance of my forms(10g rel2).
I have created one package in database and call it in forms.
Just check it:-
Package Creation in Database--
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE TEST
IS
  TYPE tic_rec IS RECORD(
    vc_job_ticket_no       hd_job_ticket.vc_job_ticket_no%TYPE,
    dt_job_ticket_date hd_job_ticket.dt_job_ticket_date%TYPE,
    ch_stat_flag   hd_job_ticket.ch_stat_flag%TYPE
  TYPE tic_cursor IS REF CURSOR RETURN tic_rec;
  PROCEDURE Populate_tic ( comp_code in varchar2,from_date in date,to_date in date,tic_data in out tic_cursor ) ;
END TEST ;
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY TEST
IS
  PROCEDURE Populate_tic ( comp_code in varchar2,from_date in date,to_date in date,tic_data in out tic_cursor )
  Is
  Begin
   OPEN  tic_data FOR SELECT vc_job_ticket_no,dt_job_ticket_date,ch_stat_flag
   FROM  hd_job_ticket
   where vc_comp_code=comp_code
    and dt_job_ticket_date between from_date and to_date
   ORDER BY dt_job_ticket_date;
End Populate_tic ;
END TEST ;
/Now calling this procedure in Oracle Forms(when button pressed):--
declare
     cur TEST.tic_cursor ;
     rec TEST.tic_rec ;
begin
     TEST.Populate_tic(:global.vc_comp_code,:blk_ctl.f_date,:blk_ctl.t_date,cur ) ;
     go_block('b1');
     clear_block;
     loop
          fetch cur into rec ;
          exit when cur%notfound ;
          :b1.vc_job_ticket_no:=rec.vc_job_ticket_no;
          :b1.dt_job_ticket_date:=rec.dt_job_ticket_date;
          :b1.ch_stat_flag:=rec.ch_stat_flag;
          next_record;
     end loop ;
end ;     Everythin working fine upto here but
I have to use some other table(9-10 tables) on the basis of column(ch_stat_flag) value.
i.e.
if ch_stat_flag='D' then
will use Design tables
elsif ch_stat_flag='P' then
will use press table
elsif
end if;My Worry is if i use this calling in forms it means if i have 10000 of records from Populate_tic so my call to different tables would be 10000 times.
Means my forms call database 10000 times.
can't it possible at database level too.
Hope u understand it.

Apparently you were to f... lazy to look up BULK COLLECT in the online documentation at http://tahiti.oracle.com
That is why you reposted the very reqiuest: you want to be spoon fed, and you don't want to anything yourself.
To use the well known question of people from your locale:
What is reason?
Rest assured I have you blacklisted now. I don't want to help people who don't want to learn to fish, but who want to cheat themselves out, earning as much money as possible, doing as less as possible.
The result of this is your current 'application' is already fully out of control.

    Well, i don't think you improve performance by just putting the cursor-definition into a package.
    I would guess that performance may even the worse, for you read the record one by one, whereas forms might optimize the query fetch size.
    Regarding the lookup to another table... To improve performance or "reduce" network trips, read the lookup by inclduing the column in your query using a join. You could do so by either creating a view and base your forms-block on that view, or base your blcok on a "Query FROM clause"

  • Avoiding concurrency errors when updating a database through AJAX

    What are some strategies for avoiding concurrency errors when updating a database through AJAX. That is, in cases where a given user could attempt to modify the same row in the database with simultaneous requests (say, that he updates one column with information with an AJAX call, then immediately submits a form that updates the same row), what are some good ways yo prevent the two updates from colliding? On the JavaScript side one might make the AJAX call synchronous, but I question whether that is the best way to do it. Has anyone else confronted this?

    Well, since no one seems to have any ideas so far, I'll throw in my two cents worth.
    I'm not too familiar with AJAX so my advice may be limited.
    I suggest you do a google search on Optimistic concurrency database to get some ideas on how to handle it.
    If your update/insert/delete query is thread safe, then even if the same user double clicks the button fast enough to immediately have another update to the same record, then the first update will complete before the second one is carried out. Therefore no harm is done since he is just updating the same record. Since a typical update/insert/delete takes only a few milliseconds (querying may take a lot more time), its not likely he can click the button that fast. (I assume your using connection pooling for speed).
    The trouble comes up when two people call up data from the same record in different browsers. The first one updates/inserts/deletes the record. Now the other user is looking at old data. When he updates/inserts/deletes, there is a problem. One way to handle this is to keep a copy of all the fields from that record in each user's session scope when they first fetch it from the database (example: oldName). Then when you go to update some time later, to this:
    sql= update person set name=newValue where personID=3344 and name=oldName
    Note oldName is from session scope.
    If name in the database has changed, the update will not occur and will return 0 records updated. If it didn't change, it will update.
    Note your update function should not throw an exception if it cant update, it should return false. Return true if it worked.
    Example: public boolean updateName(String name)
    Similiarly, your insert should not throw an exception if the record already exists, it should return false meaning it cant insert.
    Exaple: public bolean insertName(String name). Same thing with delete function.
    If a record cant be updated due to someone else updating the record while the user was looking at data, return a message that it wasn't updated due to that problem. Then show the user the new value in the database ask him if he wants to overwrite the new change.
    Note even if you show 100 records on the JSP, only update the ones that have changed and not all 100. This way, its not likely he has updated the same records someone else has altered. Less likely a colision compared to updating all 100.
    If your updating/inserting/deleting more than 1 record (say, 3), then you should look into setting up a transaction in addition to all the above and rolling back all of them if one fails.
    Reading the section on databases from http://www.javapractices.com/home/HomeAction.do may also help.

    Hello,
    I think there is something wrong with the ")" in the listener.ora : the second SID_DESC is not part of the SID_LIST.
    Instead of
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =

    i am clueless as to what is causing this error.
    just to add to issues which i faced during installation on virtuozzo containers. containers does not allow me to create a swap space. but i had to ignore the error and go ahead with the installation with most of the steps followed from http://wiki.openvz.org/Oracle_10g_VE.
    please guide

    hi all
    virtuozzo during creation of containers doesnt install the following.
    sysstat-5.0.5-1
    libaio-0.3.103-3
    libaio-0.3.103-3 (i386)
    libaio-devel-0.3.103-3

    make-3.79.1
    gcc-3.2.3-34
    glibc-2.3.2-95.20
    compat-db-4.0.14-5

  • Store and display word document in database through forms

    how can i store a word document in database through forms 6i or 10g, and display it through forms from database.
    i know how to store a binary file in database through DBMS_LOB package, but i want to do it throug forms. is it possible?
    regards

    Hi Alex
    "Create a datablock and specify the item datatype as blob"
    BUT: How to bring the document to the blob?
    Hi user 611..
    Warning: It is easy if you use an OLE-Object - but OLE is a special format. The result will not be the same as with dbms_LOB.
    We have a application with documents stored via OLE - terrible!
    OLE is no longer supported by forms 10. But webutil would help.
    I asked a similar question and got a good answer:

  • Monitoring Physical standby database through OEM

    HI ,
    We are monitoring Physical standby database through OEM and we monitor from console using SYS user
    As per our company policy we change our sys password every month so after change it we need to change SYS password from console also
    so is any way we can change SYS password on console using command line utility? if yes then please give us the command
    Thanks

    we monitor from console using SYS userYou have to monitor it using a SYSDBA user not necessarily SYS. So you can create a user e.g. SYS_MONITOR which has different policy than SYS. Although it is best to change that password on regular bases too, maybe every 3 months.
    so is any way we can change SYS password on console using command line utility?I don't get your question. Are you asking if it is possible to change the monitoring username/password using some command line utility? If so, I haven't heard of such tool. But there could be a package like MGMT_TARGET which you can manipulate the credentials if you know how to use it.

    There's no "full or partial" recovery in Oracle.
    There are :
    1. Database Recovery and Tablespace Point In Time Recovery (aka TSPITR)
    In the former case, it is the database that is recovered.
    In TSPITR, a Tablespace is recovered to an (older) point in time, different from the rest of the database. Since a database must be consistent, a TSPITR is done by using an Auxiliary Instance -- only SYSTEM, UNDO and the required Tablespace are recovered to their own consistent point in time and then the Tablespace data is copied and and plugged back into the Target Database.
    2. Complete Recovery and Incomplete Recovery
    Complete Recovery is right upto the current point in time -- ie upto the last transaction in the online redo logs.
    Incomplete Recovery is upto any point of before the current online redo log (a Timestamp, SCN or LogSequenceNumber) .
    The scenario we are talking of is an Incomplete Recovery -- because we do not have the Online Redo Logs.

    To give special prifs with the java.policy, it should look like this:
    grant {
    permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "usePolicy"; // prevents the popup from showing for signed applets
    grant codeBase "file:C:/-" {
      permission java.security.AllPermission;

  • Issue in creation of group in oim database through sql query.

    hi guys,
    i am trying to create a group in oim database through sql query:
    insert into ugp(ugp_key,ugp_name,ugp_create,ugp_update,ugp_createby,ugp_updateby,)values(786,'dbrole','09-jul-12','09-jul-12',1,1);
    it is inserting the group in ugp table but it is not showing in admin console.
    After that i also tried with this query:
    insert into gpp(ugp_key,gpp_ugp_key,gpp_write,gpp_delete,gpp_create,gpp_createby,gpp_update,gpp_updateby)values(786,1,1,1,'09-jul-12',1,'09-jul-12',1);
    After that i tried with this query.but still no use.
    and i also tried to assign a user to the group through query:
    insert into usg(ugp_key,usr_key,usg_priority,usg_create,usg_update,usg_createby,usg_updateby)values(4,81,1,'09-jul-12','09-jul-12',1,1);
    But still the same problem.it is inserting in db.but not listing in admin console.

    hi vladimir,
    i didn't find this 'ugp_seq'.is this a table or column?where is it?
    It is a sequence.
    See here for details on oracle sequences:
    http://www.techonthenet.com/oracle/sequences.php
    Most of the OIM database schema is created with the following script, located in the RCU distribution:
    $RCU_HOME/rcu/integration/oim/sql/xell.sql
    there you'll find plenty of sequence creation directives like:
    create sequence UGP_SEQ
    increment by 1
    start with 1
    cache 20
    to create a sequence, and
    INSERT INTO UGP (UGP_KEY, UGP_NAME, UGP_UPDATEBY, UGP_UPDATE, UGP_CREATEBY, UGP_CREATE,UGP_ROWVER, UGP_DATA_LEVEL, UGP_ROLE_CATEGORY_KEY, UGP_ROLE_OWNER_KEY, UGP_DISPLAY_NAME, UGP_ROLENAME, UGP_DESCRIPTION, UGP_NAMESPACE)
    VALUES (ugp_seq.nextval,'SYSTEM ADMINISTRATORS', sysadmUsrKey , SYSDATE,sysadmUsrKey , SYSDATE, hextoraw('0000000000000000'), 1, roleCategoryKey, sysadmUsrKey, 'SYSTEM ADMINISTRATORS', 'SYSTEM ADMINISTRATORS', 'System Administrator role for OIM', 'Default');
    as a sequence usage example.

  • How to connect a PDF form to SQL server database through web service?

    Hi,

What I need is a wsdl file to connect the form to database. For this purpose, is there any WSDL code to use as the web service?

  • How to get the data from mysql database which is being accessed by a PHP application and process the data locally in adobe air application and finally commit the changes back in to mysql database through the PHP application.

    How to get the data from mysql database which is being accessed by a PHP application and process the data locally in adobe air application and finally commit the changes back in to mysql database through the PHP application.

    If the data is on a remote server (for example, PHP running on a web server, talking to a MySQL server) then you do this in an AIR application the same way you would do it with any Flex application (or ajax application, if you're building your AIR app in HTML/JS).
    That's a broad answer, but in fact there are lots of ways to communicate between Flex and PHP. The most common and best in most cases is to use AMFPHP (http://amfphp.org/) or the new ZEND AMF support in the Zend Framework.
    This page is a good starting point for learning about Flex and PHP communication:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/flex_php.html
    Also, in Flash Builder 4 they've added a lot of remote-data-connection functionality, including a lot that's designed for PHP. Take a look at the Flash Builder 4 public beta for more on that: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashbuilder4/
