Let your Lion support PPPoE sharing for WiFi

I saw some threads which mentioned that iPad or some other clients cannot access WEB via WiFi shared from Lion's PPPoE.It's caused by NAT for IP fragments.
By default, IP fragments cannot go through NAT router since only the first fragment has the correct port number. So, the NAT softwares have to reassemble them before NAT, such as iptables on Linux, ipfirewall which is the default NAT tool on OS X before lion.
The new NAT software on lion is named Packet Filter ported from OpenBSD. It's also support reassembly of fragment. But it's not the default option.
Set this option, then you can get rid of this annoying problem
Insert following line at the beginning of /etc/pf.conf.(Requires root privilege)
scrub in all fragment reassemble
Execute following command in terminal
sudo pfctl -f /etc/pf.conf
Then It's OK.

It's not necessary to disable and enable your internet sharing. You can directly use pfctl -f /etc/pf.conf while sharing.
Anyway, your PF setting seems ok now. But it's strange that the web pages cannot be opened except Google, YouTube. It might be caused by something else, I think.

I'm running MS Office 2011 on Lion and it runs just fine. No "Full Screen", but it runs just fine. There may have been an update to install (I know there was an iWork one anyway), but even before I installed any updates Office '11 worked just fine.

Lion Server Screen Sharing for Adminstrator

I'm having difficulty using my Administrator account for remote screen sharing after the upgrade to Lion Server. All other remote access tools work (Server Admin, SSH, file sharing, etc.). I'm also using LogMeIn to get to the server and, if I make an adjustment to standard user account to allow for server administration that account can use screen sharing with no problems. Only my administrator account does not seem to work. Has anyone else seen this?

Hi John, perhaps I did not express myself clearly.
My desktop iMac is set up with multiple desktops (desktop 1 for system stuff, desktop 2 for mail, messages, skype etc, desktop 3 for Safari and desktop 4 for text proessing, VM-Ware and other work).
When I work on that machine I'm logged in as one user and use the three finger swipe left and right or the Cmd-1 thru Cmd-4 keys to switch between those desktops.
I haven't founf how to do that from my a remotely connected MacBook Pro.
Both of which are running Mountain Lion in the mean time. The iMac runs Mountain Lion Server and the MBP has ML Server installed as well, but nut implemented. Just to be able to use the remote screen...
Hope this makes my question a bit mre clear...

I went to a apple store at South Park, Charlotte NC,
and found out the worst customer service (in my case)
They don't have answers and don't understand about "dont let any customer go away sad or mad"
I explain to them that I did everything they said to fix the problem, even to dounload the iOS 6.1.3
that was supposed to fix the problem.
they said fix the problem in other phones but not in mine.
So here I am with no wifi and bluetooth, with apple technicians and experts that don't know what to do with the problem that the sofware they developed cause in my iphone 4s.
and the solution is for me to pay $199.00 US dollars for a problem that I did not cause.
wich means to buy something else from apple to fix a problem that it is not my fault.

Apple isnt here. this is a user based forum for technical questions. The solution is to restart, reset, and restore as new which is in the manual after that get it replaced for hard ware failure. if your within your one year warranty its replaced if it is out of the warranty then it is 199$

Lion doesn't wait for DHCPACK on wifi after resume?

I've been noticing this occasionally on my MBA, and just got asked about it by someone else who's also seeing it: when resuming Lion with a WiFi connection, sometimes it will bring the network up for a couple seconds, then drop for a bit with the WiFi icon showing it requesting an IP address, then come back. HardwareGrowler shows it initially coming up with the same address it had been using when suspended, then eventually getting a new address, which leads me to believe that Lion is speculatively bringing up the interface on the old address without waiting for a DHCPACK; if it gets DHCPNAK instead, it then has to take the interface back down and go through the usual DHCPREQUEST/DHCPOFFER dialog with the DHCP server.
Is there a way to make it wait until it has received a reliable address (either DHCPACK to the old lease or the full DHCP negotiation) before bringing the interface up, rather than having it "stutter" when the original lease isn't ACKed?
FWIW I have seen this with all versions of Lion. I don't recall seeing it with older versions.

NOTE: I did exactly what you want to do all the time, and it works very well. BUT I have set things up so that this works.
Do both WiFi and Ethernet get the same IP address from your router? If not, then your existing file sharing setup is already established over the IP address assocaited with WiFi and that is where your transfer is going to stay.
Again, if you are currently getting different IP addresses, then I see 2 approaches
a) If your router's DHCP server allows associating an IP address with either a system's MAC address (Media Access Control; looks like nn:nn:nn:nn:nn:nn), or by associating an IP address with the "DHCP Client ID" (See System Preferences -> Network -> Advanced -> TCP/IP -> DHCP -> DHCP Client ID), then configure your router so that both the WiFi and Ethernet are connections to the router are assigned the same IP address.
b) another approach is to change each Mac's network setup so that they used Fixed IP addresses when at home (you can create a new network location for home use). You would configure the WiFi and Ethernet interfaces so they have the same IP address (each Mac gets its own unique IP address, and if possible the address you assign should be outside the router's DHCP address range, so that the router does not assign a duplicate address).
If both interfaces have the same IP address, then when you plug in the Ethernet cable (assuming the interface order has Ethernet as higher than WiFi - which is the default)

Apple tech helped me 60 min ago. Told me to create new account for wife. Wiped out her ipod music--now iTunes wont let me download it in her new account so I can restore her music! Help!!

Today an Apple tech helped me 60 min ago. Although my wife and I have diff apple ID's, our music was mixing and syncin back and forth. The tech told me to create new comp user account for wife which I did. I wiped out everything on her ipod and signed in under her ID. When I tried to put it back I got a message that I couldn't download her purchased music for 90 days because there was another apple ID associated with my computer. Not sure wether that means mine or hers. What I am sure of is that I'm dead if I can't get her music back. Please help. Thanks, Craig

I can understand how that would be frustrating. If you created a brand new Apple ID for her, your Apple ID should not have been affected any more than anyone else's. They are as separate from one another as your Apple ID is from mine.
Since you just bought your MacBook Air, you can certainly contact AppleCare for this, and I encourage you to do so. They will straighten it out.
Until then, if you want to troubleshoot this on your own, sign in to your Apple ID here:

Could there be a setting I need to adjust in the iPad2? I had a heck of a time getting my Detroit Tigers Baseball team schedules migrated (but Major League Baseball supported the subscriptions, so it occurred). As I work internationally, having these calendar subscriptions on the new Calendar would be very useful.
If one goes to the Apple site, and seeks calendars [http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/calendars/index1.html], they are shunted to MobileMe [https://www.icloud.com/mobileme/not_found/], with the note "MobileMe is closed. Go to iCloud." But, I do not see how to get subscriptions from iCloud.

The problem is that many of these calendars were hosted on MobileMe. I actually tried about 20 at random, and only two worked! Not all of the failures were ex-MobileMe, some were on other servers but produced 'File Not Found'.
Strangely, this one worked despite its URL:

Until the people who publish these calendars (it's not Apple, they are third-party) wake up and find alternative servers these calendars are not available.
There may be other sources which work - try Googling.

In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.

You cannot downgrade a machine that shipped with 10.7 installed. Such a machine can only run 10.7 or later. As for the older machines, you would need to use the old Mac OS X install disks to erase the hard drive and reinstall the system.
I don't really understand the issue regarding minimizing windows. If the difficulty is that you want to use the green "+" button in the iTunes window's title bar to resize the window rather than toggling between the full window and the simplified window with only play controls, that is not unique to Lion. That has behaved the same way for some time. Try option-clicking on the "+" button.
