Level of spam protection

I remember once changing the level of spam protection in my Verizon email.  There was a slider.  I increased the protection to a slightly higher setting.  Now, unfortunately, a lot of my legitimate stuff goes into spam.  I click on the legitimate message (which winds up in the spam folder) and then click "not spam."  But that doesn't seem to help with the next email from the same sender.  Does that slider still exist?  Can I lower the level of protection?  I forgot how I got to it.  And, if it doesn't exist, how can I tell my spam protection to "ease up" a little bit and accept mail into my inbox from more senders?

There's no slider for Verizon's SpamDetector that I know of.
If you are consistently having issues with the same senders though, you can always add them to your Safe Senders list.

  • So Far No Improvement in Spam Protection

    Not seeing any improvement so far with the spam protection in Blog comments, despite the new BC upgrade yesterday that started Akismet spam protection.  Right after the update, I reinitialized my settings in Comments to require Comment Approval and the new Spam Protection parameter, then spent  a LONG time marking nearly 800 previous comments submitted in past months as Spam.
    But yesterday and continuing today, my blogs are still getting hit with the same amount of spam as in the past, and of course, it's from the same pirates who have been sending this stuff all along: PayDay loans etc.
    For the record, it has to be a robot submitting this spam because on my comment form I do not display the Website field so humans cannot fill it out (since they can't see it) but still it's getting filled in, so it has to be a robot submitting this stuff that is reading the HTML stream and ignorning my CSS display:none on the website field.
    Frustrating...hoping something is going to improve because all my client sites are equally infected with spam... clients are commenting to me that they are worried that the BC environment is not secure and are now worried about financial transaction security as well as a result of all the spamming.

    I have SBS 2008, and I have recently installed Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange  version 7.5 but when I take a look on Windows SBS Console under Security, it shows "Spam Protection for Email Critical Exchange Server 2007" However,
    when I open the SMSME it shows running well with no problem..

  • Unusual high level of SPAM

    Hello,
    I experience super-high level of incomming SPAM e-mail for last 2-3 weeks. Everyday I am getting for 20-25 the same templetes e-mails come to Inbox, and the same  20-25 SPAM in my Jank folder. I keep forwarding to [email protected] as recommended, but it does not help at all. Just found 16 more in the Inbox today morning, then have to spend time and check/filtering manually, and that is not cool.
    Seems to me like filtering stops working on the mail-server side. All those e-mail are very similar, look 100% SPAM, and I do not get why it does not filtered on the server instead of pusshing to my mail account.
    Also wonder if there is any chance Apple Support may help?

    I'm with you on this. I've been getting hammered with spam the last 2-3 weeks also. Incredibly frustrating to keep up with. I've turned off my mail on iPhone until this gets figured out. Seems iCloud is an easy target!

    However, based on my knowledge, use the EICAR antivirus test file is the only built-in method to check whether the Anti-Spam configured correctly.
    You can try to send some test spams to your Exchange server for testing, even if this is a stupid method : )

  • Receiving high level of spam today from iCloud mail

    So far today I have received around ten SPAM emails addressed to "undisclosed recipients" and arriving in my iCloud mailbox.
    I have forwarded all as attachments to [email protected] — anyone else getting this?

    I'm with you on this. I've been getting hammered with spam the last 2-3 weeks also. Incredibly frustrating to keep up with. I've turned off my mail on iPhone until this gets figured out. Seems iCloud is an easy target!

  • Email adresses - Spam protection - Options

    I do understand the tight security and anti SPAM policy on the ePrint services, to prevent abusive use and prevent complaining users about wasting paper and ink etc.
    However, since there is an option to only allow printing from 'allowed senders', it would be very VERY useful to have an option, combined with the allowed senders, to allow more that one email address in the 'send to' part of the email. Sure, make it a button with 20 disclaimers and such, but please HP, make this a selectable option. I really, _really_ like to be able to use the ePrint services with forwarded emails.

    Are you referring to enabling use of an auto-forwarding email account to forward emails on to HP ePrint (I too haven't gotten this to work... at least not in my trials using an auto-forwarding Gmail account...).  I agree it would be convenient to enable this use case.
    Or are you refering to the desire to forward your emails (from your email account) directly to an HP ePrint printer's email address?   When I am doing the forwarding, this use case works for me  (though its still true that the only address in the to: or cc: fields needs to be the printer's email address - I believe this avoids others unintentionally printing to my printer if they "reply all" and are on my whitelist....)
    Note: When sending email to my printer, I can add additional addresses in the BCC field if desired...  this also avoids the risk of unintentional printing via "reply all"...

    The speed is limited by the cpu timing so 167mhz FSB = 167mhz / 333mhz / 500mhz / 667mhz as this is in-sync with fsb / ram but will only achieve 333mhz max .
    Faster ram will likely run cooler in theory as it is only working at 50%.
    Get server grade and make sure it is 100% correct stuff.

  • Best method for block level replication of protected shares

    There are a couple of different options for data replication on lifeline based devices. Firstly is SMB, the other is RSync. SMB does not work for me as I have large files that are almost always in use. If I wanted to replicate them i would want to be closing them for as short a period as possible and copying as little as possible. rsync does not support private folders. Neither supports iSCSI. Some design and best practice material is available on how this should be done but it is based on the assumption that there will be no secured data and no iSCSI data. Given the use cases for the device there seem to be some significant deficiencies in explaining how this should be done. What sort of options are available for this on the device? Is it recommended to tweak the rsync configuration to enable access to private shares and the storage location for iSCSI volumes?

It think your "contact Lenovo" wins this one. Lets hope they can come up with something.

    As you are aware, BT is closing some of its basic email services as part of its attempts to simplify its email product options and offer the best email service to its customers. When the Talk21 email service was launched there was not the large choice of free email services that are available today. The Talk21 email service offers basic webmail access, it does not support access through devices or email clients and offers a lower level of spam protection which therefore doesn’t meet the needs of the majority of our customers.
    These changes affect a small percentage of BT customers, who can still keep their email address by linking it to their BT Broadband account free of charge. This means, once they have linked their current Talk 21 address to their BT broadband account, they don’t have to do anything else and can continue using their e-mail account as before.
    It also affects some customers who are no longer with BT for their broadband, but have retained the email address from when they were using BT Broadband. Non-BT Broadband customers can also keep their email address if they choose to move to BT Premium Mail for £1.60 a month (6p a day). Or, they can switch to free email accounts from other providers.
    BT has written to affected customers to inform them of the options available to them if they wish to keep their email address.  Customers can also find out more about the changes at BT.com/emailchanges”

  • Error while load paches from front end through SPAM

    Hi Experts,
    When I am loading the support patches from SPAM , A messege is comming .
    "There is no decompression software installed on the application server."
    We have 2 application servers and 1 central instance.I tried to do this by login in to each of the application servers, but i'm getting the same error.
    Please note that we have SAPCAR in our \usr\sap\<SID>\sys\exe\run directory.

    Hi Shanahas,
    Could you tell us with what ID you have uncared the files. If possible, change the permission to 777 with that ID and then try to load the files in to applications level from SPAM->Load Packages->Application Level in 000 client.
    Normally you should uncar the files with <SIDADM> user

  • Office mail configured on MAC Mail, messages sent out are tagged as SPAM

    This being my first question, excuse me if I have selected a wrong community for this question.
    Here is what I am having difficulty in configuring my MAIL client:
    I have configured my office mail, and when I send any message from this, the mail is being tagged as SPAM by my office mail server and all my mails are going into JUNK folder of receipent, when I looked at the RAW message here is what I see:

    I have configured my GMAIL and the mails are working fine with that server. The line that is underlined in bold is the difference in the header when I send using my office ID and from GMAIL configured: with configured GMAIL the line looks like:

    If you are running a mail client, then your mail client is probably not configured to use the correct ports with your office mail server (use of the mail submission port, TCP 587 would be typical).  It looks like you might be connecting in without benefit of authentication.  Work with your mail server administrator to determine local requirements for your particular mail server.  (It's somewhat surprising you got as far as sending mail with this configuration and got detected as a spam engine; your office mail server may well have other issues.)
    If you are running a mail server (more typical of this forum), then the following diagnostic is your answer why this message got rejected: [BAYES_50=0.8, HELO_DYNAMIC_IPADDR=1.951, RCVD_IN_BRBL_LASTEXT=1.449, RCVD_IN_PBL=3.335, RDNS_NONE=0.793]
    Loosely translated, your mail server IP and DNS looks like a spam engine.   (Now whether that's your office mail server that's configured incorrectly and being detected as a spam engine, or your mail client that's getting misdetected by a somewhat-too-open office mail server wasn't immediately clear to me.)
    More specifically, this diagnostuc means your public reverse DNS is not an IP address that is expected to be sending mail.  As is listed in the diagnostic, the IP address you are using is in several blacklists.  Among other issues, the IP address is being detected as a dynamic address (HELO_DYNAMIC_IPADDR), it's listed in a Barracuda blacklist,  and it's listed in a Spamhaus blacklist.
    Talk to your ISP, and get your forward DNS, your reverse DNS and your MX record to all match your domain, and both you and your ISP will want to get your IP address out of the blacklist.
    If you cannot get your addresses to match and sort out your DNS, then you'll have to configure your mail client or your mail server to use your ISP mail server as a relay (if your ISP permits that), or work with some other mail server provider where you can obtain authorization to relay mail.
    (Forward DNS: domain name to IP address.  Reverse DNS: IP address to domain name.  MX: the host name A record for the mail server for the domain.)

    You can use any installer program the will perform the installation for users if the users decide to allow your request.
