Lib32 R300 DRI users: lib32-ati-dri needed?

Hi,
I made a PKGBUILD for lib32-ati-dri but I wanted check if it's really needed or is it just something funny with my system. Could R300 DRI users report that do they get direct rendering in 32bit without it.
The thing is when I run:
LIBGL_DEBUG=1 /opt/bin32/usr/bin/glxinfo
without lib32-ati-dri, I get:

After installing lib32-ati-dri and exporting LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH, It finds the provided file and direct rendering shows yes.
Just feels weird that I couldn't find any post about that file missing or that it's not already provided somewhere. If the package is really needed I could dump it to AUR
Another thing is, shouldn't lib32-libgl provide swrast_dri.so?

I ran into this problem on x86_64 as well. However, I found that r300_dri.so was located in /usr/lib/xorg/modules/dri/ as part of the ati-dri package. I adjusted the LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH variable in my .bashrc and now have direct rendering.

I recently reinstalled arch on one of my older computers. And in that installation I installed the open source ati drivers.
So I tried to install steam and decided to go ahead and use the lib32-ati-dri for it, it installed for me and everything was good.
I just tried to do an update and received this:

If I select no again, the update fails (obviously :v), but if I select yes to either of those it uninstalls lib32-ati-dri and installs lib32-mesa-dri.
I then tried to just reinstall lib32-ati-dri, and it works. But when I update, I get the same prompt, over and over.
So I'm wondering if there is anyway to remedy this, or if I should just stick with the lib32-mesa-dri.

I don't know where to put this and I have no idea who the current maintainer is, so hopefully putting it here makes sense. lib32-libstdc++5 needs to be upgraded to the current 32 bit version. It's necessary for Lightscribe to function on x86_64.

I see no lib32-libstdc++5 package at all. You may submit the package yourself.
Packages that are only available for x86_64 (like the lib32-* libs) are not shown in AUR.

I would love to think that it is a problem with the playback system, and that if I merely send the file off to the duplicator they won't have the same problem. Maybe that is the case...I don't know if I have a choice rather than sending it off to see. But it happens in the same spots, in the same way, on all three of the players so I'm a little reluctant to have faith.

Of course, but in the case there is no more 'original project.' It is gone like the wind, stolen along with his computer and backups.
I think I am stuck using one of two files as my master: a DVD he burned where I only see the stutter/vibration/jitter once, or the mpeg2 file where I see it three times. Hopefully, the duplication house can rip if off of one of them and not see the jitter. I know that in audio, my personal filed, you can do a lot to enhance already existing sound--EQ, compression, tape saturation emulation software, etc. I guess I'm hoping there is some kind of analog to the video world that address jitter after a source has been printed--if indeed the source has been printed to be jittery.

please go to the CMC and navigate to Users & Groups->User list and check the properties of the user, which is currently logged in your system. In the properties panel check the licence type you defined for this user. This should be set to "Named user".

[Request] Include classic r300-dri mesa driver in ati-dri package

Hi. Despire updating everything else on my system today, I am forcing myself to use old copies of mesa, ati-dri, libgl and libdrm because of a decision made in the mesa PKGBUILD. Specifically, the package is built with "--enable-gallium-radeon" to take advantage of OpenGL 2.1 support on r300 cards. That's all well and good but me and at least one other person are seeing complete failure of OpenGL apps with it.
Asking you to remove this from the PKGBUILD may be unreasonable if there are other people that see good performance with it, but can I ask you to include the old driver *as well*? This does not look difficult at all because the PKGBUILD has a line for quickly installing that driver and it is just commented out! After all this PKGBUILD installs classic and gallium versions of the nouveau driver so why not radeon as well?
Thanks for considering. I know I could easily compile this part myself, but that seems like a waste when getting it in the default package is as simple as removing one character.

try compiz the latest git version of mesa yourself.
these two dri libraries can not contain in the same package.
and indeed gallium driver is better than classic one, support more feature. and your problem may be solved in next release.

Can iPhoto meet my user sharing & back-up needs?

Hi all and happy new year,
I have been struggling with iPhoto ever since I switched to a mac a year ago. Most importantly for me I want to share a library of shared family photos with my wife who has her own user profile on our mac, Apple's published solutions seem messy and spawn other issues. My needs boil down to the below points:
1. I want to share a photo library with other users of my iMac so we can all edit the photos. Ideally the library should not need to be open or closed on one user profile in order to be useable by another.
2. I want to be able to back-up the mac including the shared photos using time machine. Ideally the mac should hold the master copy so the back-up is on the external HD (if the master and the back-up are both on the external HD then it doesn't provide security against damage to the drive etc)
The simple solution to 1. would be for an iPhoto library saved in the 'shared' section of the mac HD to be useable by all users. However, this doesn't work - if you do this it becomes highly unstable and I am worried that it may end up corrupting the entire library. Apple proposes two 'solutions' which can only be described as messy workarounds (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1198?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US ) and both hold problems as far as I can see and prevent meeting need 2.:
a. Moving the iPhoto library to an external drive - It seems this will prevent the time machine back-up from including the photos. And even if it can I only want one external drive (I am contemplating a time capsule), and this would mean the back-up would be on the same drive as the primary library. Furthermore more than one user cannot have the iPhoto album open at the same time which is highly irritating.
b. Moving the iPhoto library to a disk image - this strikes me as a highly messy solution, not least because you have to guess what size your library will grow to in the future (or build in massive surplus). It also appears to mean that time machine back-up will not include the photos.
I haven’t actually yet tried either of the above for the reasons noted – please correct me if I am wrong.
A possible better solution would be to have iPhoto reference all the photos from a conventional folder structure which looks to be possible, but I have seen online that this does not work very well with iPhoto and I don't want to waste my time trying it if it isn't going to work.
Perhaps you gurus out there can let me know if there is a neat solution to meet 1. and 2. If there isn’t, can other software packages (e.g. picasa) meet these needs and is there any major drawbacks in terms of integration? I wanted to stick with iPhoto as Apple products are meant to work seamlessly with each other.
Furthermore I have another ‘nice to have’ requirement:

Yes with limitations - iPhoto is not a multip user program - the best way to share it is on a direly connected external drive with permissions ignored - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1198 - you are incorret that having the iPhoto library on an exterenal drive prevents TM from backing it up - TM is very happy to backup external drives - in the TM preferences under options just be sure that the EHD is not excluded

Of course you can - this is not an iPhoto question but a Time Machine question but yes - TM does not appearently backup open files so you need to be sure that iPhoto is not running all the time - and of course you need two external drives - one for the iPhoto library and one for the TM backup

No - you can not access the iPhoto library from a browser or an IOS device - you can put photos on Flickr or Facebook and acceess them via a browser from eithe an iPad or a comptuer

most of your post is not about meeting sharing and backup needs - thos are easy and described above - most of it is about wnating it to work differently than it does because you think that is better -- it actaully does woerk like it works and will do what you want - you appearently aren't happy with that and want it to work differently

Are your sure that wasn't a Verbose boot (Cmd-V) you were trying? That would go on to a regular boot.
Try a PRAM Reset, then try the single user, Cmd-S, at the startup chime. For the PRAM Reset, hold down Option - Cmd - P - R all together until it chimes a total of three times, then let go to finish booting.

Should you still be rocking the Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview and are looking to downgrade the operating system to get the full public release and Lumia Cyan, you won't have to carry out this task if you're able to hold on for another week. According to Joe Belfiore on Twitter, Microsoft will be upgrading those on the Developer Preview program to the full Windows Phone 8.1 public release next week.
The issue with the Developer Preview and updating directly to Lumia Cyan stems from those with BitLocker installed (through their employer). Although those affected are a small minority of users, when they installed the official 8.1 update, it caused the phone to lockup. As a precaution, Microsoft halted the Preview program for everyone. Microsoft previously advised consumers to downgrade their OS to then upgrade to the public release of Windows Phone 8.1 as it rolls out.

Read that again carefully and you'll see that while you'll get the WP 8.1 update there is no mention of the Cyan rollout. These are completely separate and until Verizon decides to do so, the Icon will not see a Cyan update.
I'm sticking with the DP until such time someone tells me Verizon is rolling it out AND I need to go back to WP8 to get it. My hope is that by the time Verizon finally gets its act together Microsoft will have fixed the bitlocker issue. That may even happen with the 8.1 update 1 release.

User Settings in ALV - need to disable

Hi - I need to disable the user settings for ALV, I try from if_salv_wd_std_functions ~ set_dialog_settings_allowed( abap_false ) but is working fine for the screen, if I go to the column and do right click, the user settings are enable at the column level.
Is there any way I can disable the column user settings?

Hi Jason,
I simply set the WDDISABLEUSERPERSONALIZATION parameter of my component's apllication to 'X' and now i don't see the usersetting option when I right click even on the column of the ALV. You can try that.
To do so: double click on your application, go to the parameters tab, make it editable, in the parameters column get 'WDDISABLEUSERPERSONALIZATION' parameter and set its value as 'X'.

New iPhone user question - not competent, needs wifi help please

I've recently got an iPhone 3GS, never used a phone for internet, barely understand wifi, haven't a clue about bluetooth (an indicator of how incompetent I am). I've tried switching on wifi and initially got offered BT Openzone, but the page jumps to one about BT Fon which seems to be asking me to subscribe to BT. I've read these webpages on my PC to try and understand what they mean but it's too confusing. Is BT Openzone a free wifi network I can use? Or do I have to enter my phone number somewhere as a password to activate it? Can I leave 3G open when I'm using wifi? Do I need to have data roaming switched on to use wifi? (If anyone has a link to an instruction manual for the 3GS for idiots, I'd really, really appreciate it as I find it hard to try and read the user guide on the phone itself and try to practise what it tells me.) Thanks for any help available.

You should have data roaming OFF except in special circumstances, which aren't important for you. WiFi is available in many places, but you don't need it if you have a 3G data plan for your phone. BT Openzone is only one of many; lots of cafes have free WiFi, as does Starbuck's in most of the world. It's simply a faster data network that doesn't use your 3G data allownance if you have one. I don't know if BT Openzone is free or not; sowone in the UK will know, however. Also what your login information should be. I doubt that it is your phone number, however.
