Library Synch Between Different Versions?

My older Macbook has iPhoto '08 while my new iMac has iPhoto '11. Will there be any problem synching the photo libraries on the machines using something like MobilMe?

Not as easy as I'd hoped. I am new to synching and fairly new to Macs in general.
Note that iPhoto is a basic and essentially free program - it is not a multiuser program although it does have sharing capabilities
1) Let's suppose I make my iMac library my baseline photo library. How do I import it to Macbook iPhoto? I know how to use my FW cable to mount one or the other as a drive (hold T while booting and plug in cable).
You NEVER import an iPhoto library - you can transfer it intact - Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.
2) Suppose I take my Macbook on vacation and dump a lot of photos onto it, after the baseline library has been imported. I could import that into the iMac baseline library. So far so good.
3) Suppose the two libraries end up different from each other. Is there any way to merge them, such that they end up identical?
No - you can as previously stated import the photos into both libraries - you can use iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - to move photos between libraries or merge one library into another library or to merge two libraries into a new library

  • MDM between different versions of SAP

    Hi,
Scenario: I have two SAP systems. A is 4.6C and B is ECC 6.0
Is it possible to use one MDM between the two system?
    E.g.
    (SAP 4.6C) <--> (SAP MDM) <--
    > (SAP ECC 6.0)

    Hi Riaan,
Yes, i think you can use MDM for different versions of SAP. As you know Data communicates between R/3 to MDM using PI, so in PI during Configuring Scenario, when you Transfer Integration Scenario from Integration Repository, you have option to use Version Number for Same SAP System during Assign Services.
Also in Integration Builder:Design of PI , you can use Import software components Version which can be transfer from System Landscape Directory (SLD) using Tools from Menu Bar.
This is because you have Registered SAP Sytem in SLD.
Also, In SLD you have Software Catalogs under this Software Component here you have registered software component with Versions for the Same SAP Product.
    Hope it will help you,
    Rewards if Useful.....

  • How do I share iTunes library between different versions of iTunes

I have an old motorola powerPC based iMac which is running Mac OS 9. The latest iTunes version for the old Mac is 9.2.  I also have various computers including an Intel Mac and other Windows PCs that run the latest iTunes version 10.6.3.
When I tried to share a playlist from iTunes 9.2, the other 10.6.3 iTunes do not see it.
When I shared a playlist from iTunes 10.6.3, the other 10.6.3  iTunes see it with no problem.
The iTunes 9.2 also see a shared playlist from the 10.6.3 iTunes showing up between the Store and Genius section on the left pane, but as soon as I click on it, it disappears after it made an attempt to open it.
Is there a way to make the cross version sharing work?
If not, is it possible to upgrade my iTunes to 10.6.3 on Mac OS 9?
When I use "check for update" within iTunes, it says my 9.2 is up to date.

iTunes 10.6 requires a computer running OSX 10.5.8 or greater.
I don't know much about playlist sharing but it does not surprise me at all there are issues between computers that span over a decade.  I'm not sure if there is anybody around Apple who even remembers OS9.

  • Trouble with color labels not synching between different machines sharing same data drive

    Hi
I am having a problem that seems to have come up when I started using a mix of PS/Bridge CS4 and CS3, in which color labels I apply in Bridge--primarily to folders--do not retain the color label when I look at the same set of folders on the same external hard drive using multiple, different Macintosh machines, running a mix of CS3 and CS4.  The color labels will appear on one machine and then not appear at all on another.  Note: they don't appear as white labels without a color.  It's as if they were never labeled at all!
I use multiple Macs to connect to one primary external data drive.  I consistently configure Bridge to export caches to the external drive, and with CS3 any color labels I applied to folders were consistently displayed in the same way on multiple machines.
Every since I upgraded a couple of my Macs to CS4, I now notice that color labels applied on one machine aren't showing up when I attach my external drive to other machines. I've even noticed a problem connecting to the external drive from two different user profiles on the same Mac laptop (running CS4).
I have tried resetting the preferences and the cache on all of these machines.  I also then re-toggled the export caches checkboxes on all these machines.  Per some earlier troubleshooting, I have also made sure that the naming convention for the labels is the same on all the machines: "Approved" versus "Green," etc.
There just seems to be no rhyme or reason for why the color labels are not synching.
    HELP!?
    Thanks in advance.

I have no clue at all, labels should stay visible after having applied them
to a file and used purge cache. And they do so on my system.
Normally there will not be many reasons to use the purge cache option unless
you have trouble, every time you alter a file it should be auto update the
preview and thumb, is this not in your workflow?
Are you still working with same files that were also present on your other
    system and using CS3?
Have you considered to start from scratch?
Quit Bridge, from the user library preference folder delete the plist file
for Bridge to the trash and in the same library from the caches folder /
Adobe/BridgeCS4 move the cache file outside the user library if you want to
backup this file (or to the trash if you don't want it anymore)
Both files will replace itself with fresh ones but the cache needs to start
    all over again building previews.
Again hold option when starting Bridge first time and again choose refresh
    preferences.
Set the preferences for Bridge to your wishes and try again.
However, if I go to "Tools-Cache-Purge Cache For Folder" and purge the cache
for the folder I'm working in, the color labels disappear.  Is this expected
behavior?  Shouldn't the color labels be recreated?? Again, I have repeatedly
purge the cache in this way, have reset Bridge CS4 settings, and have
re-selected the option to "Export Caches To Folders When Possible."  What's
    going on!?!?!?  Thanks.

  • Export and import between different versions

    Hi everyone,
I have some databases in Oracle 7.2, and others in 9i Release 2. Sometimes we have to do exports and imports between them, and I want to know if running the catexp.sql or the catext7.sql file also applies to 9iR2 version.
    Thanks in advance,
    Tania L.

According to what I have heard yes but I have not tested.

  • Working between different versions of FCP

    Hi folks,
I've seen some posts where this is addressed a bit, but not for the versions of FCP that I'm dealing with so I wanted to see if anyone had any insight.
I have one of the final generation PowerPC G5s and I got FCP 5.0 (as part of FCS) when I bought the system. Somehow I missed the universal upgrade to 5.1 while it was offered (I know, I know, they offered it for like two years, I have no idea how I missed it) and so I'm maxed out at 5.0.4 because none of the newer version will run on my system.
At the moment I have a short film I directed and cut in 5.0 and the last bit of work (color correction and dropping in the final auidio mix) was done in 5.1. I'm wondering if there is a way to open that 5.1 project in 5.0 so that I can make some additional changes.
I've seen posts about exporting XMLs to move projects between 6.0 and 5.1, but I wasn't sure if that worked between only between those two versions
Is there a similar method to go between 7.0 and early versions if I end up upgrading my machine?
    Any insight would be appreciated.
    Thanks in adavance,
    Avi

You can use XML to make a version 7 project open as far back as version 4. All you need to do is choose the correct version of XML:
FCP4 supports XML version 1 only
    FCP5 supports XML versions 1 and 2
    FCP5.1 supports XML versions 1, 2 and 3
    FCP6 supports XML versions 1, 2, 3 and 4
    FCP7 supports XML versions 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

  • Dblink between different version of oracle databases

    Hi Oracle Database Gurus
Is it possible to create a database link between 10.x and 11.x oracle database.
Could somebody pinpoint a passage of oracle documentation connected with that topic.
    Regards
    Zibi

    zibi wrote:
OK thanks, but is there a documentation where we can find some constraints ???
ZibiRemember that there is nothing "magic" or special about dblinks. When using the link, the database in which the link is defined (source) is just another client to the target of the link. It uses all of the same tns pieces, and the constraints between versions would be the same as for any other client / database connection. So all you need to reference are the standard docs on what client versions are compatible with what db versions. Nothing special for the dblink.

  • Differences between different versions of Oracle Database 10 g

I have some questions about the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 that we download from Oracle web site.
1)Does the software that we download from Oracle web site is similar to Enterprise Edition or Standard Edition or Standard Edition One or to which edition? In other words, similar to which edition?
2)What are the differences between Enterprise, Standard, and Standard Edition one?
3)Are they any features included in the licensing Oracle Database that does not include in the free one that we download from Oracle web site?

The dowloaded software contains every of the four editions. You choose which edition you want during the installation process.
The differences and extra-cost options are described in this paper on OTN

  • BODS code migration between different versions

    Hi,
I had a code as .ATL in 12.2.2 version .I want to use this code  in BODS 4.1.
Is this  code is  compatible with 4.1 ?
can anyone please explain clearly how can i achieve this situation?

    Hi,
    With respect ATL
90% compatible and again depends on which transform you are using for example Query and Validation transform 10% information you need to recheck it but not major changes.
You need to consider management console and other dependency etc..

  • Moving photos between different versions of iPhoto

Is there a way to move photos from my MBP running Maverick with iPhoto 9.5.1 to my iMac running Snow Leopard with iPhoto 9.1.5(I haven't been able to update the iMac as it lives on a sailboat where high speed internet is unavailable).
I tried using iPhoto manager and it doesn't work.

Copy them on a Flash drive and load them the next time you go.

  • Import/Export between different Portal versions

Hi, is there any resonable argument for not allowing imp/exp between different version? The thing is a developed a Page Group on a 9i AS and now need to export it to a 10g AS. It reasonable to think that an imp/exp machanism should exist, at least, for the latest version.

    Hi there,
Yes, there is a reasonable argument for that and that is that the export code will be different from the import code. This means that alterations to the code in order to be more flexible or to even fix an issue, for example, on the export won't be in-place. Now when you'll try to import with the different code this certainly will clash your system (as the problem may already be within the DMP file that you've exported).
Although your request does make sense the implementation part is not that easy to be done.
I hope it helps you to better understand the constraints...
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Could there be independent VI paths for different versions of LabVIEW?

    Hello,
When jumping between different versions of LabVIEW (6.1, 7.1, 8.5) it is annoying that the current path for one becomes the current path for the other.
If I am working with LV 7.1 in a folder dedicated to 7.1 VI's, and then open LV 8.5, I don't want 8.5 to go to that 7.1 folder by default.  Alternately. if I was working in LV 8.5, closed it out, and then I click on a 7.1 VI, I don't want it to open in LV 8.5.
I've tried changing the path options in each version of LabVIEW, but that doesn't seem to help.  Is there any way of isolating these folder paths from one another?  One of our newer LV guys accidently opened some 7.1 code in 8.5.1 and then saved it.  Luckily, I had archived code to return to, but it could have been a disaster.
    Thanks for any ideas,
    McSynth

You're actually asking two different questions.
The first question has to do with which version of LabVIEW gets launched when you double-click a file. This is an operating system thing. The one that gets launched is the last one that got used. (Your first question will be: can this be changed? Answer: Change the operating system. Or, play around with the registry each time you quit out LabVIEW.)
The second question has to do with search paths. These are independent. However, a VI will contain information about its subVIs in terms of where to find them. This is not a function of LabVIEW, as it is a function of the VI. Thus, it will make no difference which version of LabVIEW you use to open the VI. You can, if you wish, modify the search paths that LabVIEW uses to find VIs for each version of LabVIEW from the Tools->Options menu. However, this will not eliminate the problem, and your best bet is to keep those backups frequent.
