Life and memory space for static members of a class

hi,
as we all know that instance members reside on heap inside object to which they belong, where do the static members reside on the heap or on stack..

All objects reside on the heap.*
*I think Java 6 or 7 may allow purely local objects to live on the stack, but if an object is referred to by a member variable--whether static or not--it will live on the heap.

  • How to find out CPU and memory usage for an instance?

    Hi DBA Gurus,
How to find out CPU usage and memory usage for an instance?
    Any information is appreciated!
    Thank you!
    Robert

you can calculate cpu usage by adding fallowing three factors which you can get from v$sysstat
    1. Parse CPU time : This represents the percentage of CPU time spent parsing SQL statements. Parse time CPU can be a strong indication that an application has not been well tuned. High parse time CPU usually indicates that the application may be spending too much time opening and closing cursors or is not using bind variables.
    2. Recursive CPU time : Sometimes, to execute a SQL statement issued by a user, the Oracle Server must issue additional statements. Such statements are called recursive calls or recursive SQL statements. For example, if you insert a row into a table that does not have enough space to hold that row, the Oracle Server makes recursive calls to allocate the space dynamically if dictionary managed tablespaces are being used.
Recursive calls are also generated due to the inavailability of dictionary info in the dictionary cache, firing of database triggers, execution of DDL, execution of SQL within PL/SQL blocks, functions or stored procedures and enforcement of referential integrity constraints
    3. Other CPU time : This represents the percentage of time spent looking for buffers, fetching rows or index keys, etc. Generally, \"Other\" CPU should represent the highest percentage of CPU time out of the total CPU time used.
total memory used you can calculate adding
    total_agrigate_area+sga
memory usage on os level you can know by fallowing commands
vmstat 5 20 depending upon os

  • How do I find out if my Mac OS x version 10.6.8 has enough memory space for me to down load Mountain Lion?

How do I find out if my Mac OS x version 10.6.8 has enough memory space for me to down load Mountain Lion?

You need to know 2 things
Ram, you need a minimum of 2GB, but 4GB (or more) is recommended.
HDD, you need a minimum of 20GB of hard disk space (including space for operation)
    So.
Go to Apple>About this Mac and you will be able to see the amount of Ram installed.
Then select your hard drive (in Finder>Sidebar, usually called MacintoshHD) and click cmd-i (Command key and the letter I) look for capacity and available, post the results here.

  • Z420 bios error 110 out of memory space for option roms

    Hi,
I want to attach a SCSI RAID drive to the PC to copy the contents off onto a new drive, but when I do I receive this message:
10—Out of memory space for option ROMs   Option ROM for a device could not run because of memory constraints.
I know that under the Setup Menu/Advanced/Power On Options you are supposed to set the ACPI/USB Buffers @ Top of Memory setting to Enable, but unfortunately my version of BIOS doesn't contain this option.
Can anyone tell me what I can turn off in my system to allow it to operate with the ATTO card?
I also have a NVIDIA K4000 card installed and an AJA Io Express PCI card installed.  These both work fine without the ATTO card inserted into the machine.
    Thanks in advance!

  • OID for CPU and MEMORY utilization for wrv4400n

    Hi,
Can any one please tell me the OID for CPU and MEMORY utilization for wrv4400n?
    Thanks
    Vipin

CISCO-SYSTEM-EXT-MIB.my is a good place to start and you can determine the OID from the MIB.
Once you feel as though you are on the right track, have a look at:
    http://www.oidview.com/mibs/9/CISCO-SYSTEM-EXT-MIB.html
I gather that what you need is:
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.305.1.1.1
    and
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.305.1.1.2

  • Life and work event for any country other than US.

    Hello,
I have to implement ESS for UAE.
In ESS we did all country specific settings and thus our "Address" application in Personal Information section is working fine now.
Now we have to implement the life work event section "My first days".
There we are getting "Address" application in left panel.
Now when I am clicking in this application it shows me error :
Country/Structure do not match application country
So which means it requires some settings in guided procedure end in portal.
I am assuming ....Because our address application is already working fine in Personal Information section so same should also work in My first days section using existing configuration settings of R/3.
So I went through below wiki page :
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/profile/LifeandWorkEvents(LWE)-Other+Countries
In the above page there is a section to update parameters in guided procedure process for address.
    GP Context = X
PT Family Service = EMPLOYEEPERSINFO_FAMMEMBER_PT_05 - this parameter is going to be created in the backend (transaction PTARQ)._
I am making changes to existing Life and Work events - US only. (for testing purposes)
In my case I only updated the Address service :
    sap_xss_service
    sap_xss_menusrv
With the address service from R/3 which is in my case running under personal information section.
But still I have been receiving the same error under My First Days address section.
In the above wiki page there is a line as below :
VERY IMPORTANT: the parameters need to give in action, after in the block, after in the main block, and after in the process (THIS IS CRUCIAL).
I feel this is where I am missing something.
    What does this line mean...
Can anybody help me out with the same...if you have implemented life and work event for any country other than US.
Edited by: Saurabh Agarwal on Apr 10, 2011 3:03 PM

    Hello,
In continuation of my question I have also been following below sap Note :
929447 - Adopting Life and work events for countries other than US
In the above note there us a section which confuses me :
Page 3 - Home and Area page customizing
Step2 - In this step they say that we have to make an entry in
    IMG node access: Cross-applicaiton components -> Homepage framework ->Services -> Define Country-Specific Services (Add Entries) - (Table:V_T7XSSSERSRVCG)
    as
    Service Key:EMPLOYEE_LIFEWORK_FIRSTDAYS
    Country grouping: 01
    Link Resource:EMPLOYEE_LIFEWORK_FIRSTDAYS_DE_SERVICE
I believe it should not be for FIRSTDAYS....it should be about service which is actually throeing the error "Countr/structure does not match"
i.e. in this note case it should be :
    EMPLOYEE_PERSINFO_ADDRESS05

  • What are the minimum CPU and Memory requirements for R12 Vision instance?

We are in the process of trying to figure out what the minimum hardware requirements are for installing the R12 Vision instance. This Vision instance would only have 5 or less concurrent users. We may have to order a new server and we are wondering what the minimum CPU and memory would be? Oracle Support will not give us this information.
We aleady know how much disk space it will need.

  • Min Bootcamp Win7 and keep space for scratch 2nd 1TB internal drive

    Hi all
    Would appreciate some advice.
I have a MacPro and a second 1TB (blank) internal drive (arriving today)
I'd like to install Windows 7 on the 2nd drive and have the rest of the drive usable by the Mac for spare space, scratch etc. I don't need a large space for Win 7 - only a couple of Apps and Office. 32 Gig would SEEM enough?
Looking for most flexible solution. ie copying files between systems. being able to clean Win7 (remove easily and reinsntall) if issues.
Some posts mention Bootcamp on a second drive seems to take the whole drive by default and not make it easily accessible from the Mac - definitely don't want this scenario.
    ?

    Hi deepshade,
have a look/read at the BootCamp Installation Guide to be found here http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/ or inside the BootCamp Assistant in OSX.
Especially the pages 6 and following.
In essence, partition the second HD to one partition (using GPT as partition scheme (Option-button)) and MacOS Extended (Journaled) as file system.
Then use the BootCamp Assistant to repartition that HD to two partitions making the needed Windows partition.
32GB might be too small for your useage. In general about 40GB are recommended but with installing Office and some other apps I would recommend something in the 70-80GB area.
And since resizing the Windows partition is quite a hassle to do, I wouldn't think "too small"
It might be needed for the Windows installation to pull-out the HD in Bay1 (and according the Installation Guide this might also be the case just for the repartitioning with the BootCamp Assistant), so you should think about a temporary clone of your OSX from HD1 to the OSX partition on HD2, but your mileage might vary on this.
And lastly FYI, there is a whole Forum dedicated to Apples BootCamp here http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=237

  • Will my iPod use unused video and photo memory space for more songs?

if i don't put any video or photos on my 60gb iPod, will I be able to store more than the stated 15,000 songs on there? gracias
    5th Gen iPod 60gb   Mac OS X (10.4)

I guess it isn't 100% clear, but I would think that when Apple says the iPod holds up to 15,000 songs, 25,000 photos and up to 150 hours of video, that each of those would be how much the iPod could hold if you were only using it for each particular thing (i.e. 15,000 songs IS a full iPod if all you have are songs on it, and 25,000 photos would also be a full iPod if only photos were on it). But that's just how I read the iPod description.

  • Hard drive and memory upgrade for macbook

What is the maximum hard drive I can install on a 2ghz core duo macbook, I currently also have 2g memory but want to know what the maximum upgrade on that can be as well. Trying to update the internal components and I thought i'd ask you often reliable folk in the community.

Sorry about that--missed the "also" in your first post! We get a lot of folks who don't understand the difference between RAM and hard drive space, and I sometimes make assumptions. Again, my apologies!
Check in System Profiler for your computer's Model Identifier; this can be used to determine the amount of RAM your computer can handle.
You can check the information yourself using crucial.com's memory scanner tool or by using MacTracker: http://mactracker.ca/

  • HD and Memory upgrade for MacBook Pro 13" i5.

I just bought an MacBook Pro 13' i5.
    a) Can somebody suggest a HD to replace this? I heard that some HD have good capacity but consume a lot of battery life. I am thinking of 750 gb or 1 Tb - 5400 rpm or 7200 rpm. Budget is around $110.
    b) I want to upgrade to 8 gb memory as well. Any suggestions? Budget is around $80.
    Thank You

    Hi Kevin,
Macsales is a good place for RAM, as is Crucial and Kingston. If you get it elsewhere, make sure it's guaranteed 100% compatible and has a lifetime warranty on it.
If you want to research HDs, TomsHardware and xlr8yourmac are a couple of good sites. For more user reviews, newegg and amazon are helpful.

  • Not enough memory space for clips recorded (transfer from DV to imovie)

    Hi.
This is one question that I have always wanted to ask, but since I hard edit a long video clips, so I have been procrastinating to ask this question.
Recently, been asked to film a childcare performance for a friend. estimated amount of clips I would captured will be at least 1 hr-worthed.
Here's the thing, my powerbook has a memory of 40G, I think I am left with only 2-3 G to play with. Mostly taken up by software.
However, I do have an external hard drive that have about 30G-worthed of memory still.
But the question is how to import the DV clips from video cam to powerbook, tapping into the external hard disk space instead of the internal hard disk?
I am working on a very urgent timeline. SO will really appreciate your help and advise on this. Thanks very much!
    Cheers.

The problem with this is that you have to have iMovie
installed on the external hard drive first. After
that, you would open iMovie (external drive) and
create a project (external drive) and work on it
    there (external drive).
Yeah, the clips go to your internal disk because
that's where you have iMovie. To use your external
drive for iMovie, you most likely need to have it
    there (external) first.
Sorry, Cristobal, but that's incorrect. The location of the iMovie application does not control the location of the iMovie project. The iMovie application should be allowed to remain in the Applications folder, where it was installed.
The user decides the location of the project when creating a new project. When you choose File > New Project, the save file dialog that opens lets you navigate to any drive, and save the project in any folder of that drive. It works exactly like every other Mac application.
All video imported from the camera is stored inside the currently-active project, whichever drive that project resides on. It's not necessary to tell iMovie where to import the video. It goes in the active project.
If you want to move an existing project to a different drive, that's possible too. Just drag it there and discard the project on the source drive.

  • External drives and disk space for iPhoto, iTunes...

I'm ill and cannot spend much time sitting at a desk, so I have to a MacBook (aka, when real sick, I can work in a layZboy or in bed).
So now I have the 17" MBP with 500G, and should upgrade the GHz to 8 as soon as prices drop.
    Here WAS my plan:
I'd put my iPhoto library on an external hard drive (EHD), because I already have about 30.000 pictures, most in RAW format, and they take a LOT of space... (semi-pro photographer) Yup, you read right. iPhoto, not Aperture. Switched to Snow Leopard and my Aperture isn't up to date anymore, don't have the money for Aperture2 and realized I prefer how iPhoto works for organizing... Except there is no referencing... And I also want to finally have all my pics together. Pics I had put on DVDs, finally scan old pics... But I won't have enough space!
So I wanted to use an EHD to put my iPhoto library...
And of course, make a backup of that EHD with another one, which I wouldn't keep in the house, in case of a fire or theft.
But I realized I have a HUGE problem!
    My computer is a laptop!
I don't use it in one place alone!
So I can't realistically have an EHD plugged in all the time (especially since they need power!)
I have Airport. It's how I do my TimeMachine backups. Works well. Maybe a little slower, but I don't have any cables!
But would it be possible to use EHD and iPhoto the same way?
    I'm not so sure...
I will need to work off the EHD regularly... opening RAW pics, editing them in Photoshop...
Any ideas? Should I buy my EHD?
I don't want to change my computer again... and I can't, realistically.
Physically, I don't have a choice. It's a laptop or no computer work.
When I shopped it was the biggest drive possible in a laptop.
    Please help...

Your need for a portable computer forces you to make some compromises — no way around that.
Western Digital has announced the impending availability of a 1TB 2.5" notebook hard drive, and its 640GB and 750GB offerings are currently available:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136459
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136414
The 640GB drive is 9.5mm high and will fit into all MBPs. The 750GB drive is 12.5mm high and has been reported to fit into a Late '08 15" unibody MBP, despite not meeting the 9.5mm maximum height spec for that model. The much-anticipated 1TB drive, not available yet, is also expected to be 12.5mm high.
Any of these drives could be used externally if mounted in a suitable enclosure. Note that many enclosures for 2.5" drives will not accommodate a 12.5mm high drive; one must be careful to buy an enclosure that will. I would not under any circumstances buy a WD hard drive in a WD external enclosure. There have been more reports of trouble with WD prepackaged external drives in these forums than with all other external drive brands combined. WD's drives themselves are fine; WD's enclosures seem fraught with multiple problems. If you want to use one of these drives in an external enclosure, I recommend buying the drive and enclosure separately and putting them together yourself. I can highly recommend OWC's portable drive enclosures, but I don't know whether or not any of them will accommodate a 12.5mm drive. Call them and ask:
http://eshop.macsales.com (phone number is at top of web page)
3.5" desktop external drives are available in larger capacities at lower prices than notebook drives, but of course they're larger, heavier and less portable, always requiring an external AC power supply. If you need a capacity of more than 750GB right now, these are the only option available to you.
