Lightroom 3.2 not seeing .jpg's

I notice that Lightroom doesn't see .jpg images in the import panel.
If I save a file in Photoshop CS5 as a .tif Lightroom can see it and I can import it.
If I save the same file as a .jpg Lightroom doesn't see it and I therefore can't import it.
Is this a bug with Lightroom or am I missing something really simple here?
Any help would be very much appreciated.

You may need to select "Treat JPEG files next to raw files as separate photos" if not they will be considered as sidecar files.

Email account does not see jpgs, pdfs to "Attach"

I have done a number of posters that I want to send to my client and when I go to "Attach" in my yahoo email account, it does not see either the jpg version or the pdf version of my files. When I go go "computer" and look in the file folder, they are there.

Does Yahoo Mail offer a list of supported attachment formats?
That would be where I would look first.

Lightroom 3 does not see Photoshop CS5 as Primary EXTERNAL editor

After removing prior versions of Lightroom (2.7) and Photoshop (CS4), Lightroom 3 does not recognize Photoshop CS5 64 bit or 32 bit as the PRIMARY external editor. I can select the file and edit in the proper file, but the other options are greyed out.

Missing Registry entry caused by uninstalling CS4 AFTER installing CS5.

In Develop on the PC I see the Basic Column, On the Mac in Develop I can
not get the Basic Column up, can someone help me with this?

Right click (Control click for Mac) on the right side panel of Develop and make sure the adjustment panels are checked...

Can not see Preveiws when downloading into Lightroom 3

In downloading photos from my CanonEOS60 into Lightroom 3 I am getting "Preveiw unavailable for this file" help.

Hi Jim, I have had Lightroom 3 since it came out and have always used raw and had a full preview of all the photos held in the camera, this is what I can,t understand.

Are these raw images or JPEG images? If they are raw images are you using the sRaw feature? I don't know if your model has that option. Just looking for possibilities.

Aperture 3 can't "see" JPG's

On several occasions, when I've tried to import images, Aperture 3 showed just a blank black screen with nothing available to import. Just now, I exported 2 JPG's to the desktop from Capture NX 2 (Nikon's photo software) and when I tried to import into A3, nothing appeared. In an effort to eliminate NX2 as the culprit, I copied a JPG's taken with a Canon P&S to the desktop and still no images were shown for import. Can someone tell me what's going on? This is becoming a fairly common occurrence. In the past, changing the options under "RAW+JPEG Pairs" helped, but that is currently grayed out (presumably because no RAW files are on the desktop). Photos on my iPhone show up wit no problems, but no images on either the system or an external hard drive appear at the moment.
Any help is appreciated.

Another Baffling behaviour here is I have found is Aperture will not "see" JPGs sitting in a folder for importing if in your library pane you do not have a project selected (ie you have a folder selected). I found just selecting a project folder prior to importing resolved the issue and I could see all the jpgs

GP-E2 and lightroom 4.1 not importing location.

I have being taking quite a few photos using a 5D MKIII with a GP-E2 attached, CR2 files have the GPS data as I can see it on the camera when viewing the photos, but when import them in Lightroom, I do not see this photos to have the geotag information. Can't find much information about it.....

My GP-E2 was delivered by FedEx about an hour ago. This is exactly what I did:
I took the GP-E2 outside where it had a clear view of the sky, turned it on and waited until it got a stable fix, turned it off and returned into the house. I then attached it to my 5DM3, turned both on, and set up the GPS using the 5DM3 GPS menu. I set Auto time setting to Auto Update, Position update timing to 15s (the default), Digital compass to enable and then performed the compass calibration.
I then snapped a picture of a map on my wall, turned the system off, removed the CF card and connected it to my iMac via a CF reader and imported the image into LR as a dng, checked the geo info, deleted the image and file from LR, and reimported as a native CR2 file.
I then replaced the CF card into the 5DM3 and repeated the import processes only this time I imported directly from the camera rather than removing the CF and using a CF reader.
Things just worked as I assumed they would. All four images as imported into LR4.1 came with their geo metadata intact. I was not surprised at the accuracy of the GP-E2 in the house as I have a large south facing window and my several other GPS devices all work well from my desk.
I can't think of what might be going wrong with your setup but at least you know it should work. You might try deleting the LR preferences and try again. I've heard of strange geo metadata problems, along with many other strange situations, being cleared up by deleting the preferences.

Lightroom 4 and MBA's SD reader not seeing RW2 raw files

I've just upgraded to Lr4 from Lr3. Lr3 worked great in every respect with importing JPG+RW2 image pairs when accessing via the MBA's card reader. However, Lr4 does not see the RW2 raw files(?)
As a test, I first copied all image files from the card to a test folder on the harddrive. Lr4 saw all files fine and was able to import them into the library, so it is seemingly a problem associated with the card or the reader, or Lr4 has a problem with the card or the reader. The card is a Sandisk 16Gb "Extreme Pro" that has worked perfectly with Lr3 ever since I purchased the camera (Panasonic G3)
Has anyone experienced similar problems? ... especially with Lr4, but also in any other respect?

Lightroom 5 supports the D610. There is a big difference between nef from the D610 and older cameras. They were shot with a camera that Adobe hadn't profiled yet when LR 4.4 was out. Otherwise, if you hack the nef files to read that they were shot on a D600, LR 4.4 will read them, but I would caution against doing that as the sensor is slightly different on the D610 than on the D600, resulting in differences in color rendering. Simplest is as dj says to convert the nets to dng (which embeds the newer profiles in the file) or to upgrade to LR 5.

Lightroom not reading JPG files

I am a new Lr user, but have spend several hours experimenting with the product, so I have some familiarity with it. When I plug my card reader in my computer, Lr only sees the NEF files. I know I have both JPG and NEF files on the card, but Lightroom is not seeing the JPG files. Thoughts? Thank you. Peter ([email protected]).

You mean, you are able to import those files, if moved to hard drive but not able to view them when importing directly from the CF Card? Please attach a screenshot.
If so, might be an issue with the card. Did you try reformatting the card in the camera itself and check? If not, might want to try that.
Also, make sure your camera is in the Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras list. Else, you might not see it in Lr.

The problem is that the iPhoto library is inside of iPhoto. Lightroom won't let you select it because it's basically a shortcut to iPhoto. Try exporting the images you need or all of them, depending on what you need.

I am having problems opening images renerated in lightroom5 into cs6. Cs6 bridge does not see the lightroom libarary. If I open lightroom and right clik the image, edit in cs6, 6 opens but the picture doesnot follow. What is going on? Give me a hand.

What edition of LR 5? What edition of ACR does PSCS 6 contain. If they are not parallel (same edition number x in [5 or 8].x ), is LR making a tiff or psd rendition of the image?

Lightroom 2.6 does not see CS-4 in Windows 7

This issue is new with my laptop system. I installed CS-4 (32 and 64 bit) and Lightroom (64 bit-it says). All was working fine during my initial tests with images but I don't use the laptop frequently. Now that I am away from home and trying to take photos from Lightroom to Photoshop for advanced editing Lightroom does not see any of my Photoshop installations.
Any ideas??

Even though this happens with Google Chrome as well, try trouble shooting Safari extensions...
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

My computer sees it fine, so i was able to create a catalogue there. Im running windows 8.1. Any ideas ? I will also add that this drive became corrupt and was repaired by Samsung. Maybe they didn't do a very good job.. ..

Yes pretty much that, but to clarify sorry
Opened Lightroom.
Create new catalogue.
This opened the Windows 8 file explorer window and Windows recognises the drive. So I was able to create a catalogue there and save.
I then inserted my memory card into my card reader which LR recognised. I selected it, chose all the photos within and then navigated to the right side of the Lr import dialogue window to locate this problem drive as on this occasion i want the RAW files on the same drive as the lrcat. However all my other drives are listed but not this Samsung SSD.
In addition this Samsung SSD is not listed a drive to import from in the same dialogue window.
