hello everyone. I have recently installed a Samsung SSD (solid state hard drive) into my destop PC. For some reason Lightroom does not see it ? So i cannot ingest photos from it, or copy photos from a card to it. It is not listed as a drive option. LR sees every other drive. My computer sees it fine, so i was able to create a catalogue there. Im running windows 8.1. Any ideas ? I will also add that this drive became corrupt and was repaired by Samsung. Maybe they didn't do a very good job.. ..
Yes pretty much that, but to clarify sorry
Opened Lightroom.
Create new catalogue.
This opened the Windows 8 file explorer window and Windows recognises the drive. So I was able to create a catalogue there and save.
I then inserted my memory card into my card reader which LR recognised. I selected it, chose all the photos within and then navigated to the right side of the Lr import dialogue window to locate this problem drive as on this occasion i want the RAW files on the same drive as the lrcat. However all my other drives are listed but not this Samsung SSD.
In addition this Samsung SSD is not listed a drive to import from in the same dialogue window.

I recently had the genius bar change my imac hard drive because it crashed. For some reason Time Machine didn't back up some of my important files. Can I get my damaged hard drive back from the genius bar to see if I can access that info?
Unfortunately, that drive is long gone, probably back to the mfr. Drives are not returned when they are exchanged. You can go by and ask them, but the chances are slim to none.

Yes, if you repurchase it you may lose your progress. The exception would be a game that stored all your progress on a server under your ID
If you want to retain your progress you have two choices:
1. Don't apply the update.
2. Use your fathers account password to update the game. -
As the title has stated, I have recently installed Windows XP on my Bootcamp Partition. I am in need of the "Windows Support Software". I am assumeing that is the information that has the Drivers and what not that allow me o properly use my Mac with windows. If anyone can help me locate this inforamtion i would be greatly.... Greatfull.
P.S. The bootcamp assistant is telling me that the Windows Support Sofware canot be found.You both would have had correct awnsers, but i have a Macbook that is close to three years old. And i can't seem to find my Disc. The only reason i haven't ordered a new one in case of emergencies is I plan on upgrading to the new OS in less then a month.

/Could be that you need to update an app. All apps are tied to the apple id that was used to download apps.

Can i install SL on a solid state hard drive??

I have a MBP with an upgraded 500gb HDD which i fitted myself once the warantee had expired. ( original intel MBP with dodgy case !! )
I would like to fit a Solid State HDD to reduce battery drain, heat etc ( You can cook eggs on my MBP )
Question i have is how to transfer all the settings and data such as emails from current hard drive to Solid State and then install SL??
I was going to bang it straight on to the current HDD but found out it is not GUID partioned....what a pain in the arse that is .....pity no one thought to mention it on requirements etc first!!!
Any help appreciated.

KevThe drives that came with Intel Macs were all GUID (GPT). Perhaps that requirement should have been included in the drive when you purchased it.

September 19th, Today, is widely communicated as being the day that the IOS6 Software for the Iphone 4s will be available to replace IOS5.1.1 BUT, I have been trying to update it all day and it still currently says the software is up to date on IOS5.1.1 ? what is going on, is it out today? if not when will it be available?

Honestly, I have not even bothered to try to get it yet. How do I download OS 10.6.7 to an external drive? For some reason I get an error message when I try to download directly to my MacBook Pro from Software Update or from the Apple Downloads site.

Instead of downloading one by one simply download the 10.6.7 'combo' update from Apples support site, it contains all previous updates in one package. -
Installed a cloned 500g solid state hard drive but unable to boot in macbook pro. Can only hear drive spinning quietly, no chime to launch OS. Total darkness. Can anyone help? thanks in advance!

Yes, you're right. It is the Seagate Momentus XT and it does not spin. That was just a layman's term for computer illiterate like myself. After hours of inspection & a prayer, I discovered by pulling the 4 GB memory chips out I put in, replacing the 1.5 GB back in for the memory which I upgraded 3 years ago. Chime! It works! So it is the 4 GB memory causing the problem. But why? Does that mean my Macbook Pro does not support with more memory? The fan noise is now gone which I suspect it was caused the other overheating Seagate hard drive & eventually causing the crash. However, the top bar temp indicator shows 174˙F @ 000rpm. Does that also mean the fan on the left is not working? (the right fan on the board works). Do they work simutaneously? Or left fan is just a back up?

I bought an Adobe writer program a few years ago,and have have had no problem saving information I've added to pdf forms. For some reason, I can no longer save the information that I've entered. In fact, I get a message that the information will NOT be saved. How can I correct this? Thanks!

Iphoto is not opening library on launch
When I launch iphoto 9.4.2 in OS 10.7.5 The font and color windows come up and all the menus, BUT the actual iPhoto browser window does not come up. I have tried reinstalling all the way back to 9.1 from my iLife 11 disc all the way up to this 9.4.2.
