Lightroom 6 standalone upgrade does not install in mac (does not validate the serial)

I have bought and download Lightroom 6 standalone upgrade (I own lightroom 1, 2 and 3) and during the installation in my macbook pro I obtain the following message: "We are unable to validate this serial number for Adobe Lightroom. Please contact...."
Any idea?
Thanks in advance

Please check your hosts file entries once as sometimes due to no connection to the serialization server adobe doesn't verify the activtion.

I purchased and downloaded Lightroom 5.5. After installing it, I was prompted for the serial number. When I entered it an error message appeared saying it was an upgrade serial number and I need to enter my original purchase number. This was my original purchase, not an upgrade. Now what do I do?

It sounds like you bought an upgrade from Adobe. How much did you pay? The upgrade is about $80, and the non-upgrade is about $150. If you bought an upgrade version and had no previous version, you would see what you're seeing.
If that is the case and I were you, I'd call Adobe, and arrange for a refund and to order the correct version.

  • What if an app is not installed on Mac but it shows the app is installed on App Store ?

I've recently bought MacBook Pro with Retina Display and got iLife for free. As the update for iMovie was not successfully installed due to lack for internet connectivity, I thought of removing it from from my mac and reinstall it. But as I opened the App Store for reinstalling iMovie, it show that the app is already installed on my mac. So, all the mac geeks do help me to install iMovie as I'm beginner in the mac-world.

Well, I couldn't see the iMovie icon in the launchpad or in the dock. So I moved the iMovie files in Applications folder to Trash and empied the Trash. And I think I've successfully uninstalled it from my Mac.

You won't be able to install your original Acrobat 7 at all, or use your original serial number. The server which used to allow this was switched off.
But assuming you have a compatible system, like Mac OS 5 or Windows XP, licensed users of Acrobat 7 can download a replacement and get a replacement serial number.

I installed Snow Leopard, upgraded it to OS X 10.6.8, paid for and spent the hours necessary to download Lion, but Lion will not install.  Even though it says the requirements are 10.6.6 or greater, when I try to install, I get a message saying I need 10.7. to install Lion.  What should I do?

    Hi..
Make sure your Mac meets Lion's requirements.
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
OSX v10.6.6 or later (V10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available spare
From here > Apple - OS X Lion - Technical specifications
If your Mac meets the requirements, installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo reinstalls the App Store for you which may help.
Restart your Mac after instaling the combo installed. It's ok to do this even though you are already running v10.6.8.
If you have anti virus software installed, you may need to disable that in order to install Lion.

I bought Lightroom 3 or 4, can't remember which, as an online download. I then upgraded to 5 with a CD. I registered the upgrade on my Adobe account and that's where the serial number is. I just bought a new iMac and am trying to install Lightroom. The system is asking for my original serial number which I don't have. The point is. If I have the upgrade registered with my Adobe account, shouldn't that be proof that an earlier version was on my computer??? I'm really stuck. Need some advice! Thanks

    Hi John,
Thanks for your response, but if you read my first mail, it's the original serial number that I don't have. I bought the original LR as download and have misplaced the serial number. Is there any way to find it???

When i downloaded itunes and try to launch the program it says a installed component is not installed. What does that mean?

Just in case the component being referenced is not part of iTunes but is rather part of one of the other related programs, it might be worth trying a complete uninstall/reinstall of iTunes and related componentry, as per the following troubleshooting document:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

  • I erased my HD and could not install lion. if I turn on the mac now all I see is a folder with a question-mark. How can I install a new operation system?

I erased my HD and could not install lion. if I turn on the mac now all I see is a folder with a question-mark. How can I install a new operation system?

Install or Reinstall Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Printer driver was not installed.  operation could not be completed

    Adobe Acrobat 9.3.1
    windows XP system.
Cannot add the Adobe PDF printer get the error message:
Printer driver was not installed.  operation could not be completed
Software installs/repair try to install the Adobe PDF printer but they do not.  No error message; just that the Adobe PDF printer does not show up
I tried adding the  Adobe PDF printer manually.
The drivers start to load and then fails giving the error message  in the subject line.
I cleared the print spoolers and rebooted.
I have uninstalled Adobe Acrobat /rebooted/reinstalled.  Install says it adds the Adobe PDF printer but nothing happens.
Problem exists for all users including Administrators.
I have renamed the C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86 and C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\Printers folder.
Both are recreated when I try to reinstall the Adobe PDF Printer.
I can add network printers with no errors.
I have cleared Adobe PDF printer from registry.  e.g.:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Drivers\Version-3\Adobe PDF Converter
I even imported Adobe PDF registry entry from a working system taking care to adjust the system values accordingly.
I also verified permissions for registry keys and application/driver folders were set correctly.
I have completely reloaded the installation software and imported the Adobe PDF drivers from a working system.
Not sure if this an Adobe issue, but that appears to be the only printer I cannot re-add.
Any constructive ideas on what to try next would be appreciated.

When I upgraded to Reader 9.4 I lost all ability to print Adobe pdf's.  Finally uninstalled 9.4, re-installed 8.2, changed the filename "high quality.joboptions" to "Adobe PDF converter.joboptions" and was back in business.  Pretty screwey fix, but after getting no help from online chats with Adobe and a day's lost work I was happy to have it.

  • Eventlog Forwarding Issues - Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted.....

    Hello all,
OK so I do have Event Forwarding working - but I've noticed that when it's first configured I get messages similar to:
The description for Event ID 104 from source Microsoft-Windows-Eventlog cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on
    the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
The locale specific resource for the desired message is not present
If I alter the subscription (wecutil ss subname /cf:events) the forwarded events are rendered correctly.
However a product we are evaluating (which depends on event forwarding to work) always ends up with a couple of mal-rendered lines - always look something like:
    Required Privs: %9
I built a standalone AD domain and joined the same 'problem' clients to this domain and re-configured Event Forwarding - there was no need to change the subscription format type to "events" and the events were forwarded correctly and also
the product we are looking at worked straight away.
It seems that when event forwarding is configured in our live domain (or any of the test labs we have) I always get the attached errors....
I've read a number of blogs that describe the issue and most recommend altering the subscription format - this however does not solve the issue entirely...
Has anyone else seen this issue and maybe found out how to resolve?
    Thanks all
    Carl

    Yes,
I have ACS forwarder and OPSmgr Agent on Event log collector computer.
Event log collector computer shows some of the forwarded events incorrectly like "The
description for Event ID 104 from source Microsoft-Windows-Eventlog cannot be found"
When I change regional settings on Collector computer, event log shows all events(also previous) correctly.
Forwarded with ACS and Opsmgr Agent events
from collector computer were saved in DB correctly, even when event log show them incorrectly like "The
description for Event ID 104 from source Microsoft-Windows-Eventlog cannot be found"

  • CNA 6 InstallShield Wizard will not install with a JVM not found message

I ran CNA 5.5 up until last week when Java 7 71 update hit. When I tried to launch, I received JVM Not Found, that was all. So I figured it was time to install CNA 6, however during the install process I now get a pop up box stating  InstallShield Wizard will not install with a JVM not found message. No other error messages, no logs, and the installation ceases. Tried installing CNA 5.8.9.1, and CNA 5.5 again, all stop at the same point with the same message. Anyone else see this issue?

When you start Network Assistant, Java determines whether the resources it needs are available. If they are not, Java displays the message Could not create Java Virtual machine, and the session ends. To overcome this problem, open the file C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\CiscoSMB\Cisco Network Assistant\startup\startup.properties (the default installation path), and modify this entry:
    JVM_MAXIMUM_HEAP=1024m
Replace 1024m with a lower setting that does not exceed the available RAM. There is no way to foresee what value will work. Try 512m , and lower it further if necessary. You can use the dial peer tag range 2500 to 2999 out-of-band to define your own dial peers.
If the Network Assistant InstallShield wizard fails to start, it is likely that the temporary folder location defined through the environment variables TMP and TEMP has some problem. Assigning a correct temporary folder location can fix such problems.

  • Snow Leopard will not install if you do not have 1GB RAM or more

I ran into one problem when I tried to install snow leopard, The problem was I throught my Macbook had 1 GB of RAM in it, then after I my first try on install then it mentioned I did not have 1 GB of RAM, so I checked it and I only have 512 MB, so that is low and I have a 1st Generation Macbook, So now I ordered a 2 GB of RAM for my MacBook I'm waiting for the memory to arrive so I can install it into my Macbook, then I will install snow leopard.
Snow Leopard will not install if you do not have 1GB RAM or more, but if you have 1GB or more in your Macs then you will be fine

The system requirements for the OS have been public knowledge on every major tech blog, apple fan blog, apple rumor site and Apple's site for at least 4+ months. So it's not like they just decided at the 11th hour that you needed 512MB of RAM. Not to mention, just about every piece of software I've ever purchased has the system requirements printed in a very tiny print in a very un-obvious place on the packaging. So that's nothing new... for Apple and the rest of the software manufacturing world.
As the consumer, it's your responsibility to do the appropriate research (either online, over the phone or asking the sales rep) what requirements are necessary.

Launch Disk Utility in /Utilities. Then, click on the volumes under the top-level disk. The one that has this listed on the bottom is the boot volume.
