I do not exactly know how it works with Pentax (I'am a Canon shooter) but I expect it will be the same.
A Canon camera knows only about Canon lenses. It detect the lens by the so called LensID and write the correct metadata into the EXIF data the image. If you use a third party lens, the Camera does not know which a the correct values to write into the EXIF data. Thrid party lens vendors typicaly use a valid LensID of some (old) Canon lenses to solve this problem. But: Focal lenght and LensID rearly match.
Third party software must know which LensID and focal lens are used for a third party Lens. Often, there are multiple lenses possible. You can find out more about your metadata using a software called exiftool, which has a very log list of Pentax / Lens combinations.
To make the story short: Third party software must make a guess, an LR makes the wrong one. (You can use exiftool to fill in the correct metadata into your images, LensMake, LensModel, if you like.)

You really have to mess with the resoluton, espescially the refresh rate, as it varies from projector to projector, monitor to monitor. Even within the same brand! Because so many manufacturers are trying so many different things to become the next cool kid on the block, and the way the formats are being configured that's now part of the game.
That's why so many professionally produced corporate shows hire a dedicated projectionist for the video presentations. Too many bugs in the honey.
Refresh & sesolution are the first things to look at.
Just so you know that colors in PowerPoint PC, and PowerPoint Mac, don't exactly match... go figure.
I forgot to mention another thing, sometimes it's the projector that needs to be tweaked.

Have you tried a reset? Hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

Looking For the Right Lens

Hello, I am a casual photographer and really just learning this great hobby. I got into it trying to get good pictures of my daughters during their ballet performances. Each step I've taken has got me a little closer to getting good pictures of them but I'm quickly running out of time. My last step was to purchase a T4i. I mainly use the kit lens 18-55 for most of the shots of them and sometimes the 55-250 if I want to get close in. I generally crank up the ISO so I can use a faster shutter speed. I find that ISO 6400 with a shutter speed of 1/400 in general is giving me the best results but not anywhere near perfect. I've pinballed around looking at lenses and my head is swimming and frankly I don't know enough to make a great desicision. The current lens I'm looking at is the Canon EF 24-105 f/4 IS USM. The other two lenses I own both go to 5.6 and I was hoping the fixed f/4 would let in more light letting me reduce the ISO for a less grainy picture. Going back and looking at most of my shots I'm usually in the 30-50mm range but that can change depending on where I get to sit at each show so a zoom lens is mandatory for me. I really want to stay around $500 to $600 if at all possible and think I can get that lens at that price range.
My second use for the camera is to film my younger daughter singing at different school or social events with an occasional picture thrown in. Would the above lens work well for that? The current lens choices I have suck. They are noisy and hunt for focus. I've heard rave reviews of the kit lens 18-135 STM for it's fluidity of movement in almost comeplete silence. I got to play with the lens a few weeks ago at a party when someone asked me to take some pics with their camera. I marveled at the speed and silence of the focus motor. I believe the f stops on it are the exact same as my current lenses though. So If I get it as well I'm guessing I'd be in the same boat as above but with better video. If I do get this STM lens would I get the same quality pics as the kit lens I have now or is it a little better than my current set up? The person who's camera I borrowed loved it but they aren't a photographer by any means. Any recomendations here are appreciated as well.

If you are shooting a f5.6 at ISO 6400 and you decide to get an f4 lens, you will be able to shoot the same scene at ISO 3200. That lens is one stop faster. Not a big deal. But, on-the-other hand if you got a f2.8 lens you are talking another stop off. The ISO would now be 1600. Pretty good, I'd say.
Unfortunaltely an f2.8 lens isn't going to be cheap. Sigma has a 17-50mm f2.8 and even better a 18-35mm f1.8. The f1.8 will allow you to drop more than another stop off your ISO to around 640. Generally speaking the lower the ISO, the less noise in the photo and the better it will look. But these are a little short of the mm (focal length) you say you need.
Any of these lenses, and the outstanding EF 24-105mm f4 will make way better pictures than your current kit lenses do. Tamron also has some choices in this area, too.
The ideal choice would be a 24-70mm f2.8 but they are going to be way more expensive. The Sigma being the cheapest in this bunch, again. The Canon EF 24-70 f2.8 L IS being the best lens there is, period, and a price tag to prove it.
The EF-S 18-135mm is a better lens than what you have but is not going to help the ISO problem. You need, one, more light on the subject or, two, a faster lens.
Another idea!
If you can live with a fixed focal lemgth, or prime, lens, you could get the EF 50mm f1.8 or better yet the EF 50mm f1.4.. Now were're taling. f1.4 is four stops faster and your ISO would drop to 400. Around $110 bucks and $350 respectively. Sound good?
There are some more prime lens choices for you. Get on the Canon web site and gaze at the primes and see if one or two might just fill the bill. The primes also have the advantage of being outstandingly sharp. Light years ahead of your kit lenses.
Sigma has some great primes, too.

"Setup did not detect the required components. Setup will exit." !?!?!?

I have a retail Audigy 2. Autoupdate recognizes my card and gives me the available list of drivers and applications for download. I download the following:
) Audigy 2 Drivers
2) Audio Console
3) EAX Console
4) Speaker Settings
5) Surround Mixer
The ) Drivers and the 2) Audio console installs just fine. However, for each of the three remaining programs (3, 4, & 5 listed above) upon executing the downloaded file they all give me a pop-up window that says:
?Setup did not detect the required components. Setup will exit.
This happens with all three of them. I want to install these because I am of the understanding that one of these contains the ?Speaker channel test? (for lack of a better word) that will test if my speakers are hooked up correctly to the right channels. The ) drivers, and 2) Audio console do not have that test. I created another post concerning this but nobody has replied:

I also tried unzipping the three executable files with WinRAR, and then executing the Setup.exe files but it yields the same results.
Anyone know why I can't install these applications?!?!?!?!

Yes, Creative should be ashamed.

If you would reread my original post in this thread, that solution did not work for this particular problem of mine. I have a SoundBlaster Li've! Card that this solution worked for, however it does not work of the Audigy 2 card?unzipping the files with WinRar and then running the Setup.exe files produces the same result?setup does not recognize the required components and will close.
I?m not saying that the person who you quoted should not try it though.

I have Toshiba Satellite M45-s265 laptop. the problem is BIOS is not detecting the CD-ROM. I
replace the CD-ROM and it works under Windows but when i try to BOOT from CD-ROM, BIOS didnot detect CD-ROM. My boot sequence is right. its CD-ROM -> LAN -> HDD -> FDD
My CD's are bootable for sure.
is there any MASTER/SLAVE issue ?? or MOtherboard or BIOS ?

Check your system for possible Malware. But you have to do it in WIndows Safe Mode.
(Do not use your own Anti-virus to SCAN)
Start your computer in "Safe mode with networking", go to this link download a free version of Malwarebyte.

the philips monitor is vga only, so i have a mini display port to vga adaptor and connecting it to the vga.
the screen on my mbp does turn blue, but no input is detected on the external monitor.

If it does not detect the display automatically, try going to system preferences>displays, click detect displays.

If you are having the same problem, i.e. a disk permission problem, open your favorite search engine and search on, "change disk permissions", and I think you'll find plenty of information on how to fix the problem. This is a Lightroom forum. Your problem is with your operating system. There is no sense in rewriting instructions that are already available if you do a simple search.

What is the problem specifiaclly?
If the images are intended for web use I would recommend converting them to sRGB which could be done with Edit > Convert to Profile or with File > Save for Web, but as including a Save step in Actions and applying them as Batch can sometimes cause problems I would go with regular converting.
You could also try Image Processor Pro.

Lightroom does not recognize the raw format of files loading from my Nikon AW1 and loads them as jpegs. I know there are updates that would allow this camera to be recognized as shooting raw but I haven't been able to work it out. Any help out there?
