Like problem in queries

hi..
I am using the MSAccess aas the back end.
In my JSP I written the query for LIKE condition by giving '%' symbol.It works fine.
But after some time(days) same query fails in the program.Then I have given '*' .
It is also worked and failed later.
I didn't get why this discripency..Does it the problem of machine setting?
If any body faced and find the solution Please let me know..

Could be many things, depending on what you mean by 'failed'.
For instance the data changed and so there is nothing to query.
Or the connection failed.

1. iTunes won't offer cloud downloads for songs that it "thinks" are in your library, even if it "knows" the files are missing. If you've exhaustively searched for the missing files and there is no prospect of repair by restoring to them to their original locations, or connecting to new ones, then delete that tracks that display both the missing exclamation mark and are of media kind Purchased/Protected AAC audio file. Don't hide from iTunes in the cloud when asked, close iTunes, then reopen. You can download from the cloud links or iTunes Store > Quicklinks > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer > All songs > Download all.
2. Why? Not sure, perhaps 3rd party tools or accidental key presses combined with previously hidden warning messages when trying to organize the library. There is a hint that using the feature to downsample media as it is synced to a device may also be involved, though I've not replicated it. Whatever the reason a backup would protect your media.

How to efficiently support "Like"-masked range queries against a CLR UserDefinedType

Is there any way to efficiently support "Like"-masked range queries against a CLR UserDefinedType?   I've never written a UDT before and am just beginning with one that has a Varbinary type as the underlying physical type for
persistence but has a string representation to the consumer.   Looking at the articles and samples I've found, the only required method/interface for a UDT that seems to be made for queries is the requirement to provide an implementation
of IComparable.
But from what I've read so far, doing a "Like" masked/range search - or any search for other than an exact "key" expression match would amount to doing a table scan while the database engine passes in each candidate to the UDT's IComparable
implementation.
I need to support masked searches; including some that might wild-card the first few characters instead of always providing always providing non-wild-carded characters staring in character position one of the mask.   My UDT would
have its internal structures that could vastly speed up the searches if I could get the whole Like() mask at once vs. having my IComparable methods being called once per every existing row in the underling table.    (We may have one such table
with a column of this UDT containing over 800M rows.   You can imagine the response times if every search other than a single exact key match effectively meant a table scan).
I had heard that you could implement a "Like()" method in a UDT that might allow this type of processing.   But I can't find any discussions or documentation on this issue; so I'm not sure if that's really an option for solving this issue.

Not sure that I understand exactly, but obviously you can implement a type method that returns 0 or 1. However, searches on this method would requiring scanning the table, so even if your internal matching is fast, the query will still be slow.
It sounds like you are looking for some custom indexing, and there is nothing built-in that you can hook into, but you would have to do all the work yourself - if it is possible at all.

6230i contact problems and queries

I am a new and very inexperienced owner of a Nokia 6230i which replaced my existing 3330. The SIM card was transferred to the new phone so I thought that I would keep all my existing contacts – and indeed for a week ago this was the case. However last evening when I went to make a call about one third of them had disappeared.
Worried but needing them I spent about 30 minutes typing many of them in again and then switched off. However when I switched the phone on again several hours later all the missing ones had reappeared! Leaving me with a number of questions:
1. What is the likely cause of this problem and is it going to recur?
2. I now have a lot of duplicate entries – one in SIM card and one in phone memory. If I delete one which should it be?
3. In general is it better to store contacts in SIM card or phone memory (apart, obviously, for ease of transferring to a new phone)
4. I have installed PCSuite (not without problems but that is another story) and I would like to back up my contacts to a PC before they vanish again. Can I do this even though I don’t use a PIM? Can I back up phone memory and SIM card or only one?
5. Is it true that all the while I have duplicate entries the phone can’t identify the caller?
6. Because I travel all my contact’s numbers start +44 Is it true that in that case the phone can never identify incoming callers – and if so is there a work around?

i have an 8800 handset, amongst others, which supposedly has the same software as the 6230i, or at least very similar.
i will try to answer your queries:
1) i'm afraid i have no idea as to likely possible causes, but if it does reoccur i would suggest that you get the handset looked at by your nearest Nokia Service Centre, details of which are available on this site.
2) that is entirely up to you and depends on your preference.
3) i would say that it is better to store contacts in the phone memory, except in the event that you need to transfer them (when you are unable to do this by other means such as bluetooth or via pc suite).
the reasons for this are that the phone memory in the latest handsets tends to be larger than the sim memory, and the phone memory will allow you to store multiple entries under one contact name whereas the sim will not.
so, you can store a home number, a mobile number, and an email address under one contact name in the phone and regardless of whether the contact calls you from their landline or their mobile the same contact name will display.
on the sim card, however, you will have to store them as two entries (and can't save the email address) perhaps in the manner of "contact x home" & "contact x mobile".
further benefits include being able to use longer names for a contact name in the phone.
i guess it does depend somewhat on how many contacts you have and how likely you are to often swap the sim from one phone to another.
4) you should be able to back-up the entire contents of the phone via pc suite, including the phone memory, the sim card, and even everything on the memory card if you use one.
additionally, you can synchronise your contacts with the windows address book or outlook, so you can view, add, amend and delete contacts on the pc, or simply use this feature as an extra back-up.
5) it is indeed true that you cannot have two contact entries containing the same number and get caller display. this is because the phone can only display one contact for caller display, and it doesn't know which one to choose.
6) apparently that is a "feature" of some handsets, but it is not something that i have encountered personally. +44 and caller display works fine on my 8800 and my 6230, and i have just tried it on my old 8310 and it works ok on that too.
on phones that don't seem to allow it i am not aware of a work-around.
hope that helps. perhaps someone else can suggest a reason for the problem in the first place?

Motion Artifacts or 3D like Problem in CS4!

I have just noticed this strange footage in my timeline as the camera pans or the object in focus moves. The footage have got some edges or kind of shadows which follows behind like 3D footage without glasses or ghosting when the camera pans. This is not good for the eye when you watch it, and it just doesn't look right. Overall there is no smooth fluid motion in this footage where there is movement in the scene.
Original footage was recorded with a Canon XH A1 HDV 50i as I am in PAL region. I captured this footage using the camera's downconvert feature to SD. After capturing I purchased a Matrox RT X2 which I then used for multicam multiple monitors display. When I edited this footage with my client I didn't see this at all, and since it was a multicam project we had to cut between the cameras first then a second pass for refining and adding titles and transitions. All the editing was done as Matrox SD sequence. However when I played back the DVD thats when I noticed this strange motion artifacts in the footage. This is earlier in the year before the release of CS5.
I revisited the project because the client now wants more copies of the DVD. Although they didn't complain with this DVD I just thought I should correct the problem. The DVD is just 1hr 30 mins, so its not DVD compression here. This happens in the first half an hour of the DVD and then after that everything else plays smoothly and fluidly.Now the problem is that the footage in the Matrox sequence plays with the motion artifacts and it has a red line bar without any single effects. The othe footage does not have a red bar. But if I play it in the source monitor there is no such problem. This is happening on 3 out of the 8 tapes recorded on that event, and the tapes were recorded by one camera.
I have tried creating an Adobe PAL project but I cannot actually see as I haven't connected my preview monitor from my PC GPU! Still this SD footage have got a red line bar when in Adobe sequence. This includes even the footage that plays well.
Is this the matrox sequence causing this and if so how can I get rid of this problem without having to start editing from scratch!

I wonder if this is a Field Reversal issue, as Matrox flips things around from regular DVD. That would be the first place that I would check.

Problem saving queries with calculated key figures

Hello Experts,
I am analyzing this problem since many hours during the last weeks and I don't know, what else to do.
The problem is saving a key user query containing a calculated key figure in the production system (BW 3.5 SP SAPKW35015). The Error 'The query could not be saved due to a problem in transport' occures.
If I exclude the KF from the query, saving is possible, so the calculated KF must be the source of the problem.
The system is set to not changeable, but the 'Object Changeability' of 'Query Elements' in 'RSA1' --> 'Transport Connection' is set to 'Changeable Original'. If I set this option to 'Everything changeable', saving of the query works, but this is not possible in production, because transported standard queries would also be changeable.
For saving queries, die authorization object S_RS_COMP and S_RS_COMP1 is included completely with *, but this does not help.
I also transported the query and the KF again from development system ... no change, same problem.
I found the SAP note 533413, but what does this mean? "This problem can only be solved in the next BW release ..." I heard from colleagues, that BW 7.0 has the same problems.
Does anyone have an idea, how to solve this problem?
I would be very thankful for any reply...

Thank you for your answer, but I have set the Object Changeability to Everything Changeable and restricted the user with S_RS_COMP. So only certain query names can be used and changed. Experiences from collegues said, that deleting and transporting again would not help.

Very strange virus like problems.

I have a brand new iMac and a G4 Powerbook both running 10.5.1.
Earlier today my Powerbook wouldnt boot up, all i got was the grey screen. I could do nothing to get it boot past that point. I tried resetting PRAM, Repairing Disk to no avail then tried to repair permission from the DVD but got an error message saying 'underlying task reported failure on exit'. I then tried archive and install and got an error saying mac os x could not be installed on this computer so i erased and installed which worked fine.
Half an hour later i restarted my iMac Aluminium and the same thing happened, grey screen with exactly the same symptoms as above.
If i boot in safe mode i get 'root device is mounted read only'
then if i type exit i get this error:
/usr/sbin/mDNSResponder", . . .) No such file or directory.
I have booted under firewire target mode and that file is there.
what shall i do! I really would like not to have to reinstall everything.

What do the two computers have in common? Are they networked? Did you download a common item to both or visit the same website?
If it were only one I would say it's something broken, but with two, and not being much a believer in coincidences, I suspect it may be some malware, but that's a rarity for Macs, although there are some out there in the wild.
However, /usr/sbin/mDNSResponder is a Winders related thing tied in with BonJour and iTunes, and it might mean that someone or something has gotten into your computers.
If you are engaged in "file sharing" and are using your comptuter to allow others to "share" files, then it may well be an attack.
However, if you have not done any of these things, or have no Winders boxes on your network, then I have no idea what the problem is.

***Editing video: Help adding text to my video! Gamut-like problem***

Hi, I'm using the Photoshop CS6 free trial and I'm having trouble adding text to my video. I select the Text tool on the left side of the screen and when I expand the box to add text, it automatically changes my video to a gamut-like screen. I can still add text but the screen doesn't change back to my video. I don't know what I can do to fix this problem. I already tried turning off the gamut warning but it doesn't fix the problem.

You need to create a separate video track for the text overlay. You are simply trying to type in soem existing stuff and it invalidates your existing video.

Saturation-like problem

Hello Folks,
I am having trouble when acquiring acoustic emission signal using a National Instrument Board, model PCI 6111 (12 bits resolution, 2 channels of 5 MS/s rate each). I am using a specific VI in LabVIEW to acquire the signal and then a simple code in Matlab to read and process the data. The data format recorded is int16. Figure 1 shows the raw acoustic emission signal acquired at 2.5MS/s. This is a pencil test, which consists of breaking a pencil lead on the sensor and record the signal (Inpulse-like input). Apparently it is OK but when you zoon it in, for instance, the region marked in Figure 1, you get the Figure 2. Observing Figure 2, you can see some flat regions in the signal but not quite observable yet. Zooming in other region, now in Figure 2, we get the waveform shown in Figure 3, which we can clearly see the flat regions in the waveform. I thought it could be a kind of saturation but I am not sure. I tried to decrease the amplifier gain of the sensor circuitry unit but even though it did not work. Even if when I zoon in the noise region in the waveform I can clearly see the flat regions as well. That is upsetting me because I know my signal is not good to be analyzed yet. I have checked the DAQ board functioning with a function generator by inputting a known waveform. The data was very nice acquired. I would appreciate any suggestion and advice you may have.

Hi,
I don't think that your problem is due to saturation since you have samples higher than the "bad" samples. You have two consecutive measurements at the same value, but your signal can change between these values. Check your useful pass band regarding your sample frequency. If the missing values between two identical consecutive measurements are significant, increase your sample measurement.
Of course, if you have to filter the signal with a low pass, you don’t need to do anything in my opinion.

Problem with Queries Structures in Bex Query Designer and Universe Designer

I have a problem when i try to do a Universe from a Bex Query Designer.
When I use a Characteristic Restrictions in a Structure, the universe only show me the structure without the objects inside it.

Hi,
I assume that you are using BOE XI 3.1 SP2.
We have added an option in SP2 to generate or not the L00 level.
Unfortunately this option applies not only on characteristics but also on hierarchies, hierarchies variables and structures: that's the reason why you have no elements belonging to the structure generated.
I recommend to always generate L00 in order to have your structure generated correctly.
This issue will be fixed in SP3.

Calendar date variable problem in queries

Hi-We upgraded to NW2004s from BW 3.1 We have an issue with queries when we try to change the value of any variable that is a calendar date such as the Current Calendar Day. Example: when running a query, the Select Values for Variants screen displays today's date as the default for Current Calendar Day in the format 09/29/06. To change the date to another value, I get the screen displaying a calendar, if I pick 09/28/06, the display comes back as 28.09.2006 & then I can't proceed any further as I get an error "please enter value in permitted format for variable current calendar date"
Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Note: You will not lose any data
If no joy, restore backup using iTunes.
Finally last attempt, rsetore as new and sync content back manually.

I am working on SQ01 Queries, I need to change the priority of the feilds. let say example material number will dispay last on the bottom of theb screen. it needs to display in top of the screen. How we will change the priority of the input feilds. can any one help.

Its very user friendly and easier to make the reports rather then Queries

I got an error when put this EJB-QL syntax :

Seems like this method cannot take an arguments, because it runs well when I change the <ejb-ql> syntax with harcode query like this :

Is there something wrong with my first syntax?
or the EJB-QL cannot take an arguments for LIKE operator in EJB 2.0??

You can achieve this by overriding EJB-QL in orion-ejb-jar.xml file. Please look at

So you can have something like
<finder-method query="$name like $1"> in orion-ejb-jar.xml
and a dummy (but valid) ejb-ql in ejb-jar.xml, like
<ejb-ql>SELECT DISTINCT object (a) FROM DummyData a WHERE a.name =?1</ejb-ql>

Problems with queries

hello, i created 2 queries, one is summarized level and the second is detailed. when i pull up both queries i get correct data but when i try to go through "goto" i get nothing for the second queyr. i checked the variable values and those are the exact values that i enter when i call up the query separately. can someone help me please? thanks

i think you dont have the correct assignment in the query... there should not be any reason that this doesnt work It should work.
Please check the rri assignment once again and then check.
