Limit acces to save views on web in 2004s

Hi,
We would like to limit the access to save query views on the web because this functionality should in our setup only be made by super users and not normal users. Is this possible in 2004s? Is there a difference between RSCADMIN (new authorization concept) and the old concept in RSSM for solving this request?
Kind regards, Bjarne

Hello,
Check out this link which may help u to understand the new authorisatin concept:

    Hi Amer,
There is a web item 'Menu bar' available in WAD 7.0.
There, you can set the Action (Command Triggered) (ACTION) property to Export Web Application and achieve the functionality of exporting to excel.

  • Using WEB Analyzer SAVE and OPEN view in web templates?

    Hi all,
The WEB Analyzer available with BW3.5 is a welcome alternative to BEX, so I'm trying to convert my existing WEB applications running BEX queries by adding functions such as OPEN and SAVE view.
I'm trying to do this by modifying my existing templates and adding the functions/object as they are used in 0ANALYZER, but I haven't got it working.
Is this the way to go? Can it be done in this way?

  • SAP BW query view deletion in Web/ "Delete Query view" in web

    Dear All,
We are using the standard template: BW web analyzer (0ANALYZER). In this standard template, SAP provided two links "Save View" and "Open View" for creating new query views and opening existing query views respectively. However, no oppurtunity was provided to "delete query views".
We would like to have an oppurtunity to delete the query views as well from Web. (currently we are deleting the unwanted query views from Bex analyzer, as per the request from business users - who have access only to the web reports).
Would be great if you can suggest some solution to this problem.
By the way, We would not like to use the standard "Query view selection" web item. (as it creates user specic local views only).
    best regards.

  • Save for the web colors

I was having trouble with image colors when I used 'save for the web' and I found a couple of solutions in tech notes regarding embedded color profiles but there is some thing I just don't understand.
    It says:
"To ensure that colors are consistent in Photoshop, ImageReady and the Save for the Web dialog box, use an embedded color profile for display in each, or preview the image in Photoshop using the monitors RGB color space. Note that if you use an embedded color profile for display, colors may appear incorrectly if you view the image in an application that cannot read color profiles."
Can somebody give me the lowdown on what exactly a color profile is (what it does, when you should embed one etc) and some examples of the kind of application that can't read them i.e. if I send the photos via e-mail can the profile be read? put them on a web page?
    Thanks for any illumination!
    j.

A profile is a file that decribes to applications that can read them the color and tonal characteristics of a particular device. A profile can also be a mathematical description of a particular RGB or CMYK Lab color space. You've probably seen RGB working spaces in Photoshop referred to in terms like sRGB, Adobe RGB, ProPhoto RGB, etc. Any application that is color managed and can read and use profiles needs a minimum of two profile to to the job - a source profile and a destination profile. When you're looking at images on your computer monitor, the source is your RGB working space and the destination is your specific monitor. Photoshop uses both the working space profile and the monitor profile to display your image correctly. Most other applications in Windows do not read profile and have to assume either "Monitor RGB" or sRGB as the source for the file. If your file is not one of those, then false asumptioins are made and the image does not appear correctly. Some web browsers like Firefox 3 and Apple Safari do read profiles but not necessarily by default. You have to turn the option in FF. Some email readers are color managed, others not.
Profiles can be and usually are embedded in the document when you save it. Unless you have a good reason for not embedding a profile, it's almost always a good idea. It adds 4K to the file size and will let someone down the line who is using a color managed application see the file how you intended it. You have no control over the others, but that's life online. Currentlyl the best strategy is convert files destined for the web to sRGB and embed the profiles. That might change in the future, but it's a good place to be right now.

  • Mail 3.1; Save PDF to web receipts folder

When I am mailed passwords for downloaded software, I need to save such important information in a preferred place. The web receipts folder is a perfect place in this instance. However, I can't seem to get my Mail application to successfully complete the menu chore of, "Saving PDF to web receipts folder."
After repeated attempts to get my file saved as the menu item suggests, I still can't find where Mail might be saving my receipt. The program goes through the procedure as if it is working properly yet I can find no results anywhere on my computer. ( I don't get any finder warnings, given repeated attempts to save, about replacing an existing file, either.)
Now I know this is likely to be all my fault but... Can anyone shed some light on my problem here?
I was able to successfully open and view my Mail message as a PDF file. I did manage to print that PDF file (opened in Preview) to my web receipts folder. I assume from my experience that the menu item, "Save PDF to web receipts folder," has somehow been disabled.

    Never got an answer!

  • Save PDF to Web Receipts Folder

I have performed an archive and install of Mac OS X Leopard and have upgraded to v. 10.5.1. The PDF drop-down menu appears in the Print Dialog. When I click on Save PDF to Web Receipts Folder, the command executes, but no PDF appears in my Web Receipts Folder. This function worked in Tiger v. 10.4.11. Any solutions?

Well, I think I figured out my issue for now.
The page I was trying to print had a ridiculously long title. Including spaces a total of 528 characters.
It seems that HFS+ (Which is what OS X Extended is) has a limit of 255 characters. I was not aware of this limitation, but it seems that this is common to Unix systems.
I'm not quite sure why the website I wanted to print a receipt from had such a long title, but it did.
It would be nice of there was a way to rename the file when you do a "Save As PDF" or "Mail as PDF". You can do this when Saving as a PDF from the Print Menu. If I knew more, there is probably a way to modify the workflow process that is happening to include that option.
For me, problem solved - hope this helps someone else out!

  • How does this SAVE View works in WAD ?

Experts,  Before putting this question, i did search for this isssue but couldnt find the correct answer.
when i run the query in portal i get the correct report. but when i right click on any of the charastractis, i could see the drop down list with some options. in this list of options, there is one entry "Save View"
I tried saving it, with technical name and desc. but i couldnt find it anywhere.
does anyone has idea ? how this save view works in Portal ?
    thanx

Hi, plz. find my answers inline.
My question is how can we make use of this View. So, what is the importance of VIEW ? How users get benefited ?
    >> If you have scenarios wherein users would want to carry out their own analysis & save for future reference/records, then query views prove to be beneficial. Else creating individual queries to suit user preferences is cumbersome & time consuming.
I was researching on SDN, and found that if i save it As a VIEW. then if we change the query. the saved view remains unchanged. is that right ? But, what if i remove some characteristics from the query ? Does it remove from the VIEW too ?? Or, Its just, if we make some changes to Key figure structure. It wont make any impact on view.
    >>  You execute a query with its initial view, change the initial view by navigating in the data, and save this new navigational state as a query view. If you later change the initial view of the query in the BEx Query Designer, this change has no effect on the query view previously saved. The query view already exists as an independent object.
Please let me know. if you find some documentation please post a link, i am happy to read that.
That if you are using WAD and save as view, you can open using BEx analyzer or the other way around ?
    >> You can create and open a query view from BEx Analyzer or Web / WAD, as long as you have the option to.

  • Deletion of Query View in Web Report

    Hi,
I need to provide the functionality to Delete the Query View in the Web Reports.
Please suggest how this can be done.
I am new to web reporting and any help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards,
    RajKumar.

    Hi,
We have built a template that is extension of standard template 0ADHOC_TABLE provided by SAP. In our template we have added OPEN view and SAVE view APIs mentioned in SAP documentation to provide the features to open a query view and to save a query view. Now we need to provide a feature to delete a query view functionality to users as there were many old saved views that are no longer relevant and needs to be deleted.
Unfortunately the open view screen that opens does not provide feature to delete the query view.
Request your help on this, how did you provide this feature to the users. what did we miss?
For more clarification, I would speak to you please provide me your contact number.

  • Functunality of save view in BW report iview

    Dear all,
When SAP BW Query report iview is called in portal, u will get Save view, Bookmark, variableSreen...etc buttons.. When u click on saveview button...it will ask u to save as a view of that report with specific name.
My question is, where it will get stored.?
How to retrieve back those views?
    Regards,
    Sithi

    Hi,
<b>Where it will get stored and how to retrieve back those views? </b>
As mentioned by Durairaj, the view would be available in the saved views of BW System. To have a look follow these steps:
    1) Go to Programs -> Business Explorer -> Analyser
    2) From the BW Toolbar -> Click on folder icon (open) -> Saved views
    3) This will prompt you to logon
    4) Search for the technical name you had given. You will find it there.
<b>How to retrive and view in portal.</b>
As mentioned above, you can retrieve it back from the BW System. Now, as to how to view it on Portal, this is exactly the same report which you had opened and saved with a different technical name. Which means, only the technical name has changed but the query string still remains the same and thereby the report is still the same.
<b>Once he saved the view, all other who login and view the report in portal, they should see only the view saved by the administator.</b>
But this report still remains the same. This view is no different from the report which you opened and then saved with a different technical name.
<b>I want to hide the save view option in the report</b>
Not sure if you can do this for a set of users.
    Regards,
    Sunil

  • Error: RWI 00223 when trying to view a Web Intelligence report in Infoview

    Hi,
I have a problem when I try to view a webi report in infoview, I get the error message: "Could not get page number. (Error RWI 00223) (Error: INF)". It is possible to modify the report, and run the report from the development application.
I am using BOXI release 2, SP 5 on a windows server. Tomcat. Java 1.5.
I have tried to find an answer in the forums and have for instance tried to increase the heap size, it did not help. I have also read something about replacing jar files in the desktoplaunch folder in tomcat. Though, these files are not really covered by the ones found in ..\Business Objects\common\3.5\java\lib. So it does not feel like I can just replace them?
Do you have any other ideas?
    Thanks in advance.
    BR, Emma

    Hi Emma,
    Thanks for the information.
Could you please review the following solution and information.
BusinessObjects XI Release 2 is deployed in a distributed environment. Only the WCA.NET component of BusinessObjects XI Release 2 is installed on the IIS server.
When attempting to view or edit a Web Intelligence document in the Java Report Panel, a "WIJ2002" error occurs.
This error does not occur when BusinessObjects XI Release 2 is fully installed on the IIS server.
    Cause
The TraceLog.dll file is not installed when only the Web Component Adapter is installed on the IIS server.
    Resolution
Copy the TraceLog.dll file from a full installation of BusinessObjects XI Release 2 to the computer that has only the WCA component installed.
    Background
This error occurs when the Java applet attempts to send a POST request. The IIS error log files show an HTTP 500 error with POST request type on the cdzisapi.wis file.
The detailed error message thrown by the Java applet in the browser is similar to the following:
    "http://excalibur:80/businessobjects/enterprise115/cdzisapi.wis? java.lang.RuntimeException: java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 500 for URL: http://excalibur:80/businessobjects/enterprise115/cdzisapi.wis at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getInputStream(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin.net.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getInputStream(Unknown Source) at com.businessobjects.wp.cpi.CPIConnection.postRequest(CPIConnection.java:440) at com.businessobjects.wp.xml.XMLViaHttp.loadScript(XMLViaHttp.java:144) at com.businessobjects.wp.xml.XMLViaHttp.initInstance(XMLViaHttp.java:971) at com.businessobjects.wp.xml.XMLSession.load(XMLSession.java:157) at com.businessobjects.wp.xml.XMLSession.load(XMLSession.java:45) at com.businessobjects.wp.om.OMSessionLoader.load(OMSessionLoader.java:29) at com.businessobjects.wp.tc.TCMain.initClient(TCMain.java:1431) at com.businessobjects.wp.tc.thread.InitAppletRunner.run(InitAppletRunner.java:81) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) at com.businessobjects.wp.cpi.CPIConnection.postRequest(CPIConnection.java:444) at com.businessobjects.wp.xml.XMLViaHttp.loadScript(XMLViaHttp.java:144) at com.businessobjects.wp.xml.XMLViaHttp.initInstance(XMLViaHttp.java:971) at com.businessobjects.wp.xml.XMLSession.load(XMLSession.java:157) at com.businessobjects.wp.xml.XMLSession.load(XMLSession.java:45) at com.businessobjects.wp.om.OMSessionLoader.load(OMSessionLoader.java:29) at com.businessobjects.wp.tc.TCMain.initClient(TCMain.java:1431) at com.businessobjects.wp.tc.thread.InitAppletRunner.run(InitAppletRunner.java:81) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) Additional info:case 302675238 .
