Limit on number of open reports.

I have a program using the CRViewer control in a .net application. Users supply parameters and one or many reports are generated. During load testing i noticed that i get the message "Load report failed" on the 75th open report. i have reproduced this on two different operating systems (Windows 7 and Windows XP).
Is there a limit to the number of open reports?
or is this an ADO or Windows form issue maybe?

Hello Pat
There are two limits to worry about; CPL and PrintJobs. I'll list a few resources below, please search SCN for more (the search strings 'crystal net printjob' and 'crystal net cpl' should give you a number of hits. In all of this, make sure you are using .Close and .Dispose on all report objects as you get done with them.

Dear PP experts,
I am working on discrete scenario where client want to limit the number of open production order per work center. The more elaboration is like, for one work center the only specific number of production should remain open (e.g. 5 production order in assembly shop) when user is trying to open 6th production order system should restrict that.
Does any standard functionality available in system or needs development?

You can do it with avilability check for materail and capacity.
In OPJK do the for your production order type as no release if materail and capacity i missing.

Limit on number of open RandomAccessFiles

I'm implementing a small database using J2SDK1.4 NIO FileChannel and MappedByteBuffer as follows:
FileChannel fc = new RandomAccessFile(dataFile, "rw").getChannel();
MappedByteBuffer mbb = fc.map (FileChannel.MapMode.READ_WRITE, 0L, (int) fc.size());My problem is that there is a certain limit on the maximum number of open files and the native method RandomAccessFile.open(String name, int mode) throws a FileNotFoundException with message:(Too many open files).
This limit is not system/platform dependent, I experienced the same exception on both NT and Linux machines. Is there a way to raise this limit?
My workaround now is to close the FileChannel immediately after having mapped it to ByteBuffer but then I can only read/write to the buffer and cannot append more data to the file.
All help will be greatly appreciated.

How to limit the number of rows in a report

I have several reports with a number of parameters - date ranges etc.
Depending on the parameter values selected by the user the reports can return thousands of rows.
I would like to limit the number of rows returned to, say, 500. If more than 500 rows are returned by the query then display an error message requesting that the user enter more specific parameters.
Ideally for performance reasons it would be good to catch the error before the datafile is generated, but I don't know if this is possible. Alternatively a check in the template might do the job - using COUNT on the group?.

In your query, you got to add rowum < 500 or some sort of DB specific limit to the row being returned,
this will help to stop the report to get more than 500 records and the report template wont have any restriction.
or
you can do that in template too, but i would not recommend.
In these both cases or in any case, you cannot give any meaningful error if it exceeds N rows,there is no option like this till now.

Limit the number of record to download to excel from a report

I am just wondering if there is a way to limit the number of rows that I want to download to excel from a report in apex, right now when I click download to excel it downloads all records. If I am displaying 15 records on report page I want the ability to download only those records.
Any help with that would be appreciated.

The same report query runs for downloading the data into excel, I don't think you can limit the number of records in download.
You can achieve it using custom code, like on click of download excel redirect to another page and then restrict the data as per your need, or you can use the custom procedure to download the limited data.

F.13 - limit on number of AR open items that can be cleared in one job?

I am attempting to use F.13 to automatically clear a remittance paying off approx 1,500 open AR items. The job appears to finish normally but the open items are not cleared. Is there a maximum number of open items that can be cleared using F.13 - if so what is the number? All help appreciated.

If there is a limit (which I doubt), it certainly not set to 1500 items. I new projects where daily quantity of open items was 3-4 times more and still the clearing worked impeccably. Try running this job in background and see the log. Also, make sure, that the 'test run' is switched off.

In my application I have a classic Report which show the data of a simple query. For lay-out reasons I want to limit the number of display to 5 instead of the default 15. I've looked in several forums and they told me that I have to set the number of rows in the report attributes.
But it did not what I want. I'm Using APEX 4.1.0 on a Oracle 11G database
My question is: How can I limit the maximum number of rows in a classic SQL Report.

Is there any way to limit row number per group without change new page in crystal report 2008. The reason i do that is due to customer using printer EPSON LQ 300 (dot matrix) always will print in landscape if detech my layout in landscape. Because they need the record always print in 1 page (Letter size) for 2 groups and each group must show 5 records. Example:

Because if you have one common group for all the 10 records then in one page it will show 10 records under one group.
I mean i think it is not possible but m not completely sure......

How can I limit the number of messages coming into my email accounts on the IOS7

I don't like the new IOS7 system most annoying is the excess battery useage and need to recharge the other is I can no longer limit the number of emails that are in my cell's email accounts old system let you choose the amount of messages.
already did the basic things to eliminate battery drainiage getting rid of open pages which was also annoying to figure out how to use as you can't simply click and hold then delete all open apps running in the back ground you must touch and slide them off the phone. I don't let apps do auto updates.
They need to do something about the battery and having to have all emails on the phone which likely is sucking up space.
Any suggestions?

I don't think it matters what you use as your email client. This is a feature that existed before and was missed in the upgrade to IOS 7. I read on another post that if you contact Apple support they just tell you to report it in Apple feedback. I just submitted feedback at http://www.apple.com/feedback/ I couldn't find an IOS section to post it to, so I just posted it in the iPhone section. Maybe if enough people do this, Apple will fix it.

Use the close and dispose method for Report object. Its a best practice to code also gc.collect for garbage collection.

you can do this by keeping the external hard drive connected and doing the following
-hold shift key down on computer while opening iTunes and a prompt will appear to choose a library
-select choose library, iTunes should bring up your explorer windows where you can search for the external HD
-after you find the external HD find the iTunes folder you just copied to it
-after opening the iTunes folder look for the file that says iTunes library.itl or if you can't see that extenstion just look for a document looking thing in the iTunes folder that shows up as a database file
-double click the database file and boom iTunes should load your library without having to copy it to the computer
PS: do make sure that if you are going to do it this way, make sure that the external HD is connected at all times, because if you don't then you will get exclamation marks next to your iTunes songs
double PS: if you are unsure how to find out if the iTunes library file is a database file just right click it and choose properties and under the type it should say database file

Is it possible to limit the number of concurrent users for the application in Websphere or at the http management level?

You don't say what version of Websphere you are using, but here's how you might limit the number of sessions in Websphere 4.0 Advanced Edition (other versions may differ):
Open the Administrative Console. Go down the tree to Nodes, Application Servers and click on the server you want to control (likely Default Server). In the right panel, click on the Services tab. In that panel, click on the Session Manager Service and click the Properties button. That pops up a new dialog.
Select the Advanced tab here. Put a number in the Maximum in-memory Session Count field and uncheck the Allow Overflow checkbox. Click OK, etc, etc, and you'll probably have to restart Websphere.
I said "might" because I don't know if this will do what you want or not. Read the help file associated with that dialog and judge for yourself.
