Limited number of connections?

Running OS X Server (3.1.2) and am getting an error on the client, "No more connections can be made to this remote computer at this time because there are already as many connections as the computer can accept." Can't find a place to change this limit.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad I know where some form of SACL access had gone. BUT, this was really hokey. I couldn't add a group from the domain to Accounts/groups. So I had to create a local group and put the domain group inside (group inside a group). I then gave them permission to "sharing" (which used to be permission to the actual service like AFP and SMB) and tried to connect. No go.
I also noticed that my other local groups did not have this access box checked, so they really shouldn't be working but are working just fine. The users in that group have access, which is probably why it is working. However, I can't list everybody at my institution in the user list (30,000+ users). I need to use the domain group and give it access. However, it still didn't work.
This did work when i first setup the server, and then it up and quit sharing to the domain users for no good reason other than it was too much work.
I am going to rebuild this system soon, maybe this weekend.
To reiterate to other posts, "The server is set to it's standard user limits." Here is my complete settings for AFP and SMB:

  • Limiting Number of connections from a single user

    Hi ,
I am using 9.2.0.6 DB, i need to restrict the number of connections from a single user to 100.
Currently the user is having DEFAULT profile, this profile is having several other users associated to it.
What are all the available options to create restriction for a single user.
Create a new profile and add the user to the New profile is the option i have.
In that case can i create a copy of the Default profile and changing the SESSIONS_PER_USER to 100? will it work.
    Appreciate your suggestion.
    Thanks,
    Sathis

    Hi,
Since it is a default profile you can just create a new profile with the resource type you are interested it.
And if you want to copy the existing profile extract its ddl through below command, change the profile name and required resource and run against the db.
    select dbms_metadata.get_ddl('PROFILE','<Profile_name>') from dual;Regards

  • Number of connection to this computer limited and all connections are in use right now

I have Lenovo ThinkPad T520 (i7, NVIDIA 4200TM) with dock station and two monitors. Sometimes when I close notebook and undock it from dock station. Then I cannot login to my notebook because of error "Number of connection to this computer limited and
all connections are in use right now". This is screenshot of my laptop  http://i.imgur.com/6MXnQKf.jpg
Laptop is not in domain and does not have remote desktop connections. It was just turned in sleep mode and late turned on.
This happen pretty often one from 10..20 times of undock.  It did not happen with Windows 7 before.

The network does not work properly after you resume the computer. This kind of issues are cuased by the network device driver. Download the latess Windows 8 driver from Lenovo website and install it.

  • Access a database that has limited no of connections.

    Hi,
We are having a (client) database from where the data has be fetched and displayed on a dashboard.
To minimize the impact on this client database, the user account will have a limited number(say, 5) of connections allowed. But the no of user who access the
dashboard will be more than 5.
We want to make sure that we have put in place proper connection handling so things do not go "amuck".
Can anyone please suggest what is the best way to achieve this?
As of now we are thinking to have a TEMP tablespace and populate the client database.
    Database : Oracle 9i
    Dashboard is implemented in Java.

    Hi,
    Thank you for the help
The data in the database will be changed on monthly basis. The total number of records in the table as of now is 6980 and it can grow maximum 10K.
Is it a better idea to cache all the records... storing in memory or flat file on the machine(where the program runs).
    Please suggest.
    thanks
HanuMax of 10k records? Good grief, I've got a bigger database than that running on my laptop! What empirical evidence do you have that more than 5 connections has a negative impact? In the Oracle world, a database that small, with that few connections isn't even a pimple on a flea's butt in the Oracle world.
I once had a vendor trying to sell my company a reporting application and they said pretty much the same as you. They said we could host the live data on Oracle, but for performance reasons they recommended copying it to a SQLServer for reporting "because Oracle has trouble with more than 5 concurrent connections". Needless to say we showed them the door. Why would we want to buy software from a vendor with such abysmal ignorance?
If you do have a performance problem, then I dare say your fundamental database and application design is in serious need of re-work.

    Hi all,
Hope you all are doing good.
    there is one query,
Does the number of connections to apex depends on database memory ???
Is there any limitation on number of connections at the same time ?
    i have one application,

    DB 11.2.0.2
when it was launched.., people tried to login and as soon as they logged in the poratl/application went down. had to bounce the DB to get it back.
was clueless on what would be the reason for this behavior.
how do i make sure this would not occur again..,
    thanks and regards,

    Hi Dietmar,
i have the same assumption, but the problem here the user is facing is, they have used some java scripts to upload the excel sheet and when uploading it the apex portal goes down.
they are still testing it, expected user to login is around 600 at the same time.

  • Maximum Number of Connected Wireless Users?

I was reading a wireless document that shows a design where 3 WAPs on a 802.11b/g network for 180 users.
Best practices talk about 15 to 20 users per Access Point, which is what we typically do anyway.
So, my question is can the Cisco 1230 or 1240 Access Points (as an example) support like 50 to 60 users per Access Point within range?
I understand that the WAP wireless network is a shared (like a hub) network thus bandwidth is shared among all connected wireless users.
So, understand those considerations, but I want to know if those Access Points can actually support that number of connected wireless users or if there is a maximum number of associated users?
    Thank you!

The theoretical maximum is 2048. As part of 802.11, however, some number of
these 2k addresses are reserved bringing the IEEE maximum down to 2007.
Although the AP motherboard has memory capable of handling 2007 users, the
radio utilized in our 1200 Series AP has memory limitations which hold the
maximum number of client associations to 255.
The number of 255 is active associations, though the cam table can
contain 2048 entries because of the memory size, the number restricted
for actual active association is 255.This number is still far too large for sensible
networking but what is possible. Remember that WLAN is shared media, all users have to try
to get access to the media by waiting until it is free and then sending a request to
reserve the media for the duration of the frame size that they want to
send. If the air is busy then you have to wait a random time and start
again. So if you have too many users waiting they can end up waiting a
very long time - sort of traffic jam effect at a congested junction, one
more car and the traffic seems n times worse.I dont know as to how the number 255 was
arrived at but it is largely irrelevant as 255 is still too large to be practical for
active associations, we recommend 25-30 for most design work.

  • Actiontech MRI424WS number of connections possible?

I have the actiontech router for my Verizon FiOS and several items that need to be connected to it from my xboxes, PS3 laptops and mobile devices.  I foudn a setting in the FiOS router that states "number of connections" and goes from 1 to 10.
The question I have is that  from time to time one of our laptops seems to never be able to connect to the internet (Vista shows local access only).  Is this because I have too many items on the router?  Is there a way around this limitation.  If I had know this I would never have signed up for this.
Is the only way around this to buy another router and hook it in sequence to the actiontech?
    Thanks for your responses.

    Hubrisnxs wrote:
where exactly do you see that?   like on what page or after clicking what items in the router?
the router actually supports upto 254 some odd connections.
physically out of the box 4 hardwired connections and any number of wireless that fit within that configuration.
The screen you are looking at MIGHT be the number of pc's that can be logged into the verizon interface at one time, and not the amount of active connections.
    Wow, that's a little scary.  I have a Westell 9100Em and I currently show
Connections Active Connections: 258 Approximate Max. Connections: 154000
We must be talking a different connections page, there can't really be that difference between the 2 routers can there?
I accessed the connections screen by following the router users guide
I currently have 14 devices connected
Verizon FiOS Router (Model 9100EM) User Guide

If you select Firewall Settings in the top navigation menu and then select Connections in the left submenu, the
    following screen will appear.
The connections list displays all the connections that are currently open on the firewall, as well as various details
and statistics. You can use this list to close undesired connections by clicking the “X” icons. The basic display
includes the protocol type, the different ports it uses, and the direction of the secured traffic.
    • Active Connections—this value represents the number of active concurrent connections.
    • Approximate Max. Connections—this value represents the amount of additional concurrent connections

  • Limited or no connectivity to wireless on XP using Boot Camp

Hi all, I need a little help!
I just installed Windows XP with SP2 on my Intel Mac using Boot Camp. Everything seemed fine until I tried to connect to my wireless network. I've installed and reinstalled all of the drivers, and I can see the driver for wireless networking, but every time I connect it tells me it has "limited or no connectivity." Any idea what to do here? Thanks!!

I found this on one of the Macrumors forums on the web:
I had exactly the same situation as iBunny.
I got it working by changing the settings via Airport Utility from "WPA2 Personal" into "WPA/WPA2 Personal" and it worked. Btw, before this, I changed from channel 11 to 1, 1 to 2, 2 to 7 without success. I've kept it under channel 7 and just made the change mentioned above.
Also, under winXP, I went to Wireless Network Connection properties and filled up the preferred networks. Am not sure if this has anything to do with the problem at hand but I am now connected automatically.
The user was using a Macbook. Hope this helps.

  • Number of connections made to database at a given time

    Hello,
I would like to know the number the history and current number of connections made to the database via oracle application server at a given time. I see Active Connection when I click on HTTP Server, but I am not sure what that means. Does that mean the number of users on the site or does it mean the number of connections made to the database?
Also is there a way to find out the history of connections? Also is there a log file that all this information is recorded into?
Thanks for your help in advance.

    Hi
Active Connections in HTTP Server -> Number of users connected to your site (active + inactive)
You can get information about database connections in v$session, or , in Enterprise manager -> OC4J container -> Home
If you are using datasources at application level you can get information about pooling in
    Entreprise Manager -> 0C4J Container -> Application (select application ) -> DataSources
If you have datasources at OC4J container level you can get info in Entreprise Manager -> OC4J container -> Administration -> datasources

  • Max. Number of connections in use Nokia N93

    Hi
I am trying to connect to wireless router using WEP. I have configured the access point and when I try to connect with Opera Mobile 3.6 an error occurs:
Max. Number of connections in use. Close na active connection first.
Note that my phone is not woring in dual mobe but GSM only.
When I try connecting with the Phone's browser:
WLAN: Unable to connect. WLAN Network not found
    Lumia 920 OS version: 8.0.10521.155
    FW revision number: 3047.0000.1326.2002

Every time you up-date the firmware, you get from your network opperator the settings for various access points (Internet, MMS, Vodafone Live, whatever....) This leads to duplicates (or even mode) access-points. Moreover, some of these access points are saved as "default" access point in various applications. This is where the mess starts.
To clean-up the mess, you first have to REMOVE all duplicate access points and keep only one access point for each purpose: Internet connection, MMS, Live (if you are are on Vodafone), etc. After this, you will probably get messages from various applications to define a new default access point. And things will be sorted our automatically.
Hope this helps, even though it might not be simple for some.

Presumably this is for server monitoring rather than because you are going to do anything with it in the server itself.
If it was mea I would look in the management interface. You might have to drill down a bit and just plain guess.
