Line Input Question Audigy2 NX w/ 7.1 Surro

trying to run my 2 channel mixer, which only has RCA (L+R) output, through the "LINE IN". when going from RCA's to Stereo Mini Plug, i only can get one or maybe two of the speakers to work + subwoofer. maybe i need some other type of adapter to get from RCA(L+R) to the LINE IN? cant find any setting on the software that can cure the problem. thanks.

Hi Jansi.
Thanks. But still no luck.
- Service runs under Domain-Account
- We are not asked for credentials if we connect -> we are coming from localhost
Also in the meantime we updated our database library (lib_dbsl_166-10006351.sar) and Kernel (150 for Basis 7.01).
Just been thinking this could may be a 32-Bit problem -> Server is running Windows 2003 32 Bit.
Cheers, Tobias

  • Line input question

    I would like to be able to use my desktop speakers to listen to a satelitte radio receiver using the Mac Pro's line input and volume controls but I can not find a way to nake this audio "pass through" from the line input to the line output.
    I know that there is analog audio present at the mini plug I am feeding the line input with because I can select it as my recording source in other applications (garage band, peak, etc.). Obviously, I would prefer not to have to run one of those applications to monitor the audio.
    Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Thanks for your input, but I was hoping to find a solution that did not involve more hardware. I would really be quiet happy if the audio was just able to pass thru.

  • Equium A100-306: Question about stereo line input recording

    I want to record to my laptop and as, frustratingly, it hasn't got a stereo line input.
    I have acquired a Behringer USB line adaptor (UCA202). This allows playback through my stereo system (with adjustable output level through the sound card) but input level is too high and can't be adjusted by any means I have tried.
    Is there a solution to this that can be followed by an enthusiast?

    Thanks for the information. I shall explore the software option as the thread you mention looks very relevant even though it relates to a different model.
    If that doesn't work or proves too complex to install/configure I thought the Echo Audio Indigo IO sound card might do the trick.
    It's ironic that the Equium A100-306 was sold as a multi-media laptop but doesn't have a line input.

  • Line input failed

    I can't get any line input signal to show up now, either in OSX or in XP Pro (bootcamp). My input source is not a mic, so I know reduced input voltage is not the issue. I also know that I have the Audio Midi Setup settings properly configured.
    I've tried this in Audacity & QT Pro 7.5.5 on OSX & in sound recorder on XP. It appears that there is no input signal to be had through the line-in. In the past I could get a signal through line-in. I know the cable input cable is good, I know the signal is coming through the input cable, but there is no line-in signal showing in the applications.
    I saw some old, archived forum discussions about this problem, which suggested that the issue was related to OSX 10.4 updates 10.4.10 and later, but there were no answers or solutions there. The fact that the problem appears in both OSX and XP leads me to think it may be hardware and not software.
    Any ideas?

    Hello: Thank for your answer, I took some of your code, and did this:
    # Check the number of arguments that could be passed.
    if [[ ${#@} != 2 ]]; then
    echo "Wrong # of parameters...Use: check<inputfile> <outputfile>\n"
    exit
    fi
    #Inputfile: is in position 1 on the ARGS
    inputfile=$1
    #Outputfile: is in position 2 on the ARGS
    outputfile=$2
    MIN_LENGTH=100
    MATCH_PATTERN="5698"
    #Read all the lines of the file.
    # Notice: "read -r" Do not treat a backslash character in any special way.
    # Consider each backslash to be part of the input line.
    while read -r line
    do
    len=${#line} #Store the length
    pattern=${line:0:4} #Store the first x chars for contrast with [MATCH_PATTERN]
    if [[ "$len" -lt "$MIN_LENGTH" && "$pattern" = $MATCH_PATTERN ]]; then
    (( ++count ))
    echo "$line" >> "$outputfile"
    fi
    done < "$inputfile"
    printf 'Number of registers: %s\n' "$count"
    But I have some questions:
    I) In your code, why use:
    done < inputfile
    . I don't get it. With the "while" is not enough to read all the file.
    II) Is it OK to use inputfile=$1 and outputfile=$2 that way?
    III) I did not find why  (( ++count )) works in shell! Using
    let count = count + 1
    works, but that way you did it is more elegant.
    IV) Puting "exit" at the end is redundant?
    Thanks for the guide, is more compact that the one I was/am reading

  • Built-in Input question

    I know this might sound like I'm new to iMac, but I am so I'm sorry for such a lame silly question.
    I have a 27" iMac I use at work and I have an iPhone. I plug in my iPhone to my iMac input on the back of the computer to listen to music from my iPhone.
    Oddly, I see the Input Level indicator showing sound input but I cant get it to actually play on the internal speakers on my iMac.
    OUTPUT SETTING is set to Internal Speakers
    INPUT SETTING is set to Line In
    ...and nothing...

    Mac OS X does not automatically play audio directly from the line input to the speakers. Try the free app LineIn:

  • Audio Line-Input defect!

    1. The Line-Input of my Macbook Pro 2.8 (late 2008) records phase-inverted! This happens with both Windows and OS X, so it seems to be happening in hardware.
    2. The Realtek Windows driver shipping with Boot Camp is badly bugged. On the Input it clips everything above -12 dB hard, but only on the positive side of the waveform (negative is unharmed)! Fortunately this is fixed with the current R2.14 drivers.
    This leaves the question of whether Apple has ever tested the line-input of it's shiney and expensive new Macbook Pros!?

    ****, the phase-inversion turned out to be the cable. You may call me stupid now!

    Dear Jutapa.
    While i am occupied with electronics for more from thirty years, my experience in the web pages has age of fifteen days. Thus your comments about the appearance of my site are precious and be compelled to you. Thanks, but i do not understand what means ?IMO?. Also, what means that my site is very hard? Please inform me to correct it. Now the answers in your questions:
    ) Perhaps you decei'ved from the size of transformer because it is only 50VA (or 50W / 30V = ,66A) and his cost in Greece does not exceed the 8?. Keep in mind always that, the toroidal transformers cost at 70 percent least from the E-shaped transformers. But in any case the total cost of the unit does not exceed the 45?. Surely this cost approaches the cost of the available mini mixing desks in the market. But the sound quality of the unit is comparable only with the high quality professional mixing desks, because the structure of circuit is precisely same with a channel such desk, a thing that appears and only from the supply of +/-8Volts. The phantom power of 8Volts maximum is enough for all modern condenser microphones. There are in the market such type units from famous brands as dbx, bss, apex, rane, symetrix, dda etc. and their price exceeds the 300? as these units are addressed for use in studios.
    2) The oscilloscope graphs quoted in the article, believe me it is the better method of estimate the unit ? especially the square wave response ? because they express her transient character as this is most important for a designer of electronic circuits while the usual graphs of THD+Noise are offered more for consumers. If study my article, you see somewhere my explanation about this. Anyway, the T. I.M. factor of a closed loop circuit (Transient Intermodulation Distortion) expresses the possibility of it to manage the harder signals ? this is the response ?speed? to fast transients ? without oscillations. In the software of my oscilloscope included and a FFT analyzer to give the THD but i do not use it because by default today yet the chipper units in the market has very low THD due to the evolved modern electronic parts. The same is also in effect for the noise produced by the circuit himself. As it is known, the fundamental Johnson noise or thermal noise from metal film resistors is too little and the NE5532 ? NE5534 produce noise of certain nanovolts.
    3) About the EIN (Ein) - or the sensitivity of input so that us understand also the other ? reported in the schematic diagram in dBV. Why not in dBm? Because from habit i do not want to take into account the input impedance ? as get used almost all the designers of electronic circuits ? and in this way the logarithmic expression of the minimum gain of input it is given by the use of dBV (reference ratio to Vrms). Let to calculate the input sensitivity in dBm as you prefer: The input impedance of the balanced input is: Zin = R2+R3 = 20 K? approximately. The total gain of input presented at the output of the subtructer U2A and is: V = V3-V2. The minimum gain of the first stage composed by the two non inverting UA and UB with VR5 turned full CCW is: Av = +[2X(R4+R3)/VR5+R5] = +[2X000/47220] = +0,466 = ,466. In dBm the reference is 0,775Vrms thus Av = ,466X0,775 = ,36Vrms. And because the output of U2A is twice his inputs then: V = 2X,36 = 2,272 Vrms and the sensitivity in dBm is: Ein = 20 X log(2,272 / 0,775) = 9,34 dBm. And if we take the maximum gain of the first stage - by turning VR5 full CW - of 0 with the same equations in dBm, results: 46 dBm
    Best regards

  • How to find the device number for the line input for sound measurements

    Hi,
           I would like to measure the input of sound wave given to a line input of a PC. Can anyone tell me how to write a DLL  Program to actualy get the device numbers. Appreciate your help.
    Thank You,
    Mudda.

    Hello Mudda,
    Are you connecting a microphone to the sound card of your PC?  I assume
    that you want to use the built-in LabVIEW Sound VIs, and would like to write a
    LabVIEW DLL which returns the device numbers of the sound devices.
    If you are using a Windows system, you will have to use some Windows API
    functions to get that information.
    Microsoft (and their website) can help with the specific functions which
    enumerate the sound devices (with documents like this:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/multimed/htm/_win32_devices_and_data_types.asp).
    Your LabVIEW DLL will then be a wrapper for a Windows call.
    I am happy to help out in any way I can.  Feel free to post again with a
    little more information on what exactly you wish to do, or with any other
    follow up questions.  Thanks for posting!

  • Line input settings

    I have selected line input in my audio preferences and set the recording level and at that stage I can see that the internal mic has been by passed. However when I go to garage band only the internal mic is active. What am I doing wrong or do I need some kind of interface? I realise that this question is very basic! Thanks to anyone who can help.

  • Installed Camtasia which wanted Soundflower and now line-input doesn't work

    I installed the Camtasia demo which asked to install Soundflower to get the audio recording working, then I went to skype and my mic/headset (attached to the line-input) no longer worked. I've tried attaching different headsets to the same input, visiting System Preferences / Sound and tapping the mic, but nothing seems to fix it, and I haven't installed anything else, so it has to be Soundflower doing something to affect the line-input.
    Has anyone else noticed this? Is there any easy fix?

    Thanks, I've tried that but they haven't responded yet. I wondered if anyone on the apple forums had seen a similar problem...

  • 1DC- Sound Recording via Line input woes

    Have the latest firmware update on my 1DC. There are 3 issues I am hoping someone can help with
    #1 I assume you must set Sound recording to 'Line input' and NOT manual, but if I set the Rec level, whenever the camera is powered off, either automatically or manually, this Rec level is ALWAYS reset to zero. Also, the moment recording is startted, even though audio input levels are set correctly, no audio is recorded. This seems like a firmware bug to me. This does NOT happen when set to manual. Anyone know of a workaround?
    When using Manual and plugging in an external audio source I assume this signal will override the audio from the camera's internal mic.
    If this is correct and there are no issues when using 'Manual', then what is the difference between 'Manual' and "Line input'??
    #2 When setting Sound input to Manual, the VU meters are visible, but NOT when set to Line input. Why?
    #3 Can anyone recommend a specific connector to go from line out on a Zoom H6 to Mic in on the 1DC?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    No. Apparently a buggy firmware release. My understanding is that there is another release planned soon. Hopefully with several new (and working) features in addition to the line input.
    Using Manual with a -25dB cable for now.

  • Time code and line input

    Greetings all,
    I am trying to import 16X9 beta footage into my FCP. Since I don't have a Kona card or other direct imput device, I am having to go through my JVC BR-HD50 tape deck as a line input. Then set the FCP to import from a noncontrolable device. It works, with only one problem. I obviously can't get the original timecode that way. Is there a way to change the time code once it's in FCP or, is there a way to do it as it is being brought in?
    Any hideas?

    Sure. Determine what it should be in each clip you capture, then select a clip, and from the modify menu, select timecode... it will change it in the media file to be what's on the tape.

  • Line Input Hardware Unrecognized after 10.6.2 Update

    Both my Macs (Pro and iMac) don't recognize Line Input hardware (headset and stand alone mics) after the last update. Under Midi Setup, mute is unchecked and all other settings appear normal. I do lots of recording and this is a huge problem...HELP!

    No, not using USB; standard 1/8 jacks.
    The System Profiler shows that I have numerous input/output combos and such. But, the actual devices I'm connecting don't show up. Should they on the Profiler?

  • Analogue line input on SB Live!

    Hi,
    I am trying to sample my old vinyl record collection using my Sound Blaster Li've! PCI (think that was the model - it was the original (not Value) version of the card with the seperate header for the coaxial digital and MIDI I/O).
    Unfortunately, I get severe clipping regardless of the recording volume on the Volume Control panel. I know that my photo pre-amp is capable of high voltage outputs and therefore wondered if anyone was aware of the sensitivity of the analogue line input in volts of this particular model?
    Many thanks.
    Regards,
    Paul.

    If your pre-amp is a phono pre-amp (with RIAA in-build), I suppose it's not the culprit for clipping.
    How have you set the recording and source (input) levels on Volume Control and Recording Control?
    Try adjust the recording level by the 'hights' (loudest outputs) of the record (you know those recordings so you can easily find those places (or you can look on vinyls surface where the darkest areas are --> loudest outputs)).
