Unexpected error when linking CSS style-sheet
I have been working on this site for over a month now. I have
a linked external CSS style sheet and everything has been working
seamlessly between Dreamweaver and the web. Today, I tried to
create a template and then disliked it, so I deleted it. After
doing that, my CSS rules were no longer displaying properly EVEN
THOUGH my formatting and everything has remained the same.
I have a feeling there is something cached behind the scenes
that is messing this all up. Community assistance is greatly
appreciated. This is not the first time I've been unable link a CSS
stylesheet.upload the page and post a link, please.

Whenever I try to edit a component of my style sheet, I keep getting this error. (attached screenshot). I look at the ipdc-screen.css is on my local disk. ???
I can't see the top of your page, where you link the stylesheet to your page, but if you are linking with an absolute link (http:// etc. etc.), you are linking to an online file, and that will not be available to be edited locally. I would do as the warning suggests, and download the file to your local system.
If the file is indeed available locally in your site files, then you should change the link to a local, document-relative link instead of an absolute link.
If you are linking to the online stylesheet because it is a standard across departments, then perhaps it should not be edited. You can make an additional, editable stylesheet to go along with (and modify) the styles in the online stylesheet. When you do so, be sure to place the link to your new stylesheet after the link to the online stylesheet.

Problem linking css style sheet
I am trying to link a css style sheet to a new root file. When I try to link the css sheet I get an error - A recursive style import was found while trying to add CFTtemp.css. Please resolve this error by editing the file in an external text editor and try again.
What does this mean? I looked up recursive style everywhere and there is no explanation. I don't know how to fix. This css sheet works in other sites.
screen shot attachedPerhaps some CSS statement in the stylesheet is trying to import your stylehseet! Thus the recursive warning. Look for "@import" statements and see if its trying to import the stylesheet. Then either comment them out (/*your old CSS*/) or remove it. Save. And see if that solves it. But not being able to see your whole stylesheet, this is only a guess.

Linking Cascading Style Sheets to a Servlet
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to include a Cascading Style Sheet in a Servlet? I know this can be done in a JSP file. But I need to be able to do this in a Servlet.
Please point me in the right direction if this is possible. Below is the sample code that I wrote, but it doesn't work.
cssURL = "../jsp/drawingsQueryCSS.css";
RequestDispatcher dispatch = getServletContext().getRequestDispatcher(cssURL);
dispatch.include(request, response);
I appreciate your help,
DarIt looks like you are trying to copy the contents of the CSS file into your servlet response. Why not just write out a link to the CSS file in the header of your HTML? Mine looks like this:
<meta http-equiv="Content-Style-Type" content="text/css"/>
<link href="../nav_style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"/> -
"Could not find Dreamweaver Fluid Grid style sheet error" in Dreamweaver CS6
I have error in Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 which is part of the Creative Suite 6 Master Collection.
Error was when I trying to use "rubber" <div> layout: "Could not find Dreamweaver Fluid Grid style sheet". When I clicked on the button in the sidebar, in the new document.#1 Go to File > New FluidGrid Layout > select 3rd item > Hit Create button. See screenshots.
#2 DW will prompt you for a file name and location for your new FluidGrid.css file. Give your style sheet a name without spaces or special characters eg. MyFluidGrid.css. Save.
#3 From the SourceCode tag, hit Ctrl+S to Save your HTML Page. DW will set the corrected path to your external files:
MyFluidGrid.css
boilerplate.css
respond.js
That's all there is to it.

XML style sheet error at Validate step in FDM for few locations
Hi All,
Users are facing the "XML page cannot be displayed - The style sheet doesnot contain a document element. The style sheet may be empty, or it may not be weel-formed XML document.." for very fre locations while validating the data.
Please advise as it is most annoying thing for users.
Thanks and RegardsYou will need to check a few things:
a) Check that the Integration Option in the HFM Adapter "FDM WEB SERVER NAME" matches the value that the users are using to access FDM.
http://<fdmwebservername>/HyperionFDM
Make sure that the server host name is entered into this option.
b) Check that the XML file type on the users workstation is configured to open with Internet Explorer and not the XML Editor. You can do this by creating a text document named test.xml and right-clicking on it and choose "properties" and update the program to open the file to Internet Explorer and save.
c) Make sure that the FDM Web Site is in the users trusted sites in the IE Browser
d) Make sure that the "Automatically prompt for file downloads" and "Automatically Prompt for Active-X Controls" options are set to Enabled in the IE Settings. -
Broken Link to Style Sheet in Pages
All of my pages that have a template applied to them show a
broken link to my CSS file. Both the template and the individual
pages have the syle sheet linked to them. The template file does
not show any broken links. The site is setup for document relative
links . In the individual pages the "template html" shows the CSS
link relative to the templates folder and the "page html" shows the
CSS link relative to the page. Is that a problem?
Thanks, Kevin
Dreamweaver 8.02The Templates directory should be named with a capital "T",
and there should
be no other files in that folder than your DW templates.
Please move the CSS file to some other location in your site,
and allow DW
to adjust that link....

Link to site-root relative style sheet not working CS4
I am trying to define links to site-root relative external style sheets - as I believe that IE conditional comments prevent Templates from correctly updating the links. The styles are not being applied when I use any href path begining with "/". So, the following do not work:
<link href="/styles/myStyleSheet.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
<link href="/myStyleSheet.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
Dreamweaver can open the css file from a right-mouse click and even give me warnings about css properties as a tool-tip as I hover over the file. The styles are applied fine with document relative paths:
<link href="../myStyleSheet.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
Any ideas?

Style sheet not linking is frame
Hi,
I have a frameset with three fames. Each of the frames links
to a style sheet called site.css via and included file. None of the
frames are linking the style sheet, but if I load each file
independently they work fine
it works like this...
All frames include the line <cfinclude
template="header.cfm">
Inside header.cfm is the line <link href="styles/site.css"
rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
Inside the frames I cannot select css tyles. It says
New/Attach style sheet etc.
I have another website where I use EXACTLY the same concept.
I've compared the code line by line and they are identical.
Anyone have any ideas why the style sheet isn't linking
properly?
thanks

CSS is completely unreliable with the multitude of different email clients.
The attached capture of your email message to me has your image.somehow
Just host your image on your server with a full link to it (as I do)
and use inline styling for your text .
Here's a link to a recent HTML email I coded

How come FireFox won't load linked style sheets for every website?
It started about 4-5 days ago. No matter what website I go to, it isn't linking the style sheets so the websites are displayed incorrectly. Why? I didn't change anything!
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
<b> To Enable SafeMode </b>
*You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
*''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: "Firefox > Quit Firefox"; Linux: "Firefox/File > Quit")

Banner image disappears when I move css to external style sheet
If I have the following code in the head of the document, the banner image is displayed:
<link href="css/styles.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
<script type="text/javascript" src="javascript/copyNote.js"></script>
<style type="text/css">
<!--
#banner
margin: 0 auto;
width: 980px;
height: 198px;
background-image:url(images/banner.gif);
-->
</style>
But if I move the above code to the linked external style sheet (css/styles.css) everything shows up except the banner image.
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?BcSurvivor08 wrote:
the image path shouldn't change since the image is still in the image folder, right?
Yes, but the path to the image in the CSS must be relative to the location of the external CSS file.
In other words, the following rule in the home page
#banner
margin: 0 auto;
width: 980px;
height: 198px;
background-image:url(images/banner.gif);
would be written in the external CSS file as
#banner
margin: 0 auto;
width: 980px;
height: 198px;
background-image:url(../images/banner.gif);
because the CSS file is inside the css folder (one level down from the root folder).
../ says "From the "css" folder, go up a folder level then look for banner.gif inside the "images" folder..
