Outlook 2013 add-in disappears on minimize or x out

Hi All,
I have a user that whenever she minimizes or x outs of the outlook program the outlook add-in menu item disappears from the ribbon.  If we do File - Exit and reopen outlook it is there again.  If we X out to close the program and reopen
it does not show up.   Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Hi,
This could be caused by several reasons. Sometimes, an add-in will be disabled due to the conflicts with another installed add-in. Please have a check and see if the user has any other add-ins installed, try to disable them then verify again.
If issue doesn't persist after disabling all other add-ins, then try to enable these add-ins one at a time, to find out which one is causing this issue.
Also, make sure if this add-in is compatible with the current version of Outlook.

Ethan Hua

  • Acrobat XI Outlook 2013 add-on crashes Outlook

Acrobat XI Outlook 2013 add-on crashes Outlook each time I try to convert an email to PDF,
I did not see a relevant answer to this specific problem in the forums.
Of course I can print an email to acrobat PDF but I believe a fix or an update from Adobe is overdue.
I had to disable the add-on in the meantime.
Otherwise PDF maker in the right click context menu works fine.
Windows 7 64 bit, Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.5
    Anybody has an idea ?

    Have you tried the following?
Launch Office 2013 as Administrator, i.e. right click on Office icon and select 'Run as Administrator'.
    or
Try creating a new user account on Windows to see if the same issue occurs.

  • Custom Save Dialog and Logic in Outlook 2013 Add in

I'm creating an addin for outlook 2013. I've got it all setup and such but I'm not sure how to achieve my objective. My boss wants a button on a ribbon that is shown during compose, read, and similar methods and either opens a save dialog or just
saves it automatically without the dialog. The catch is that I want to add custom actions for this special save button, where it will rename the file and save it in a specific folder. All based on the sender's domain and address, the date, whether there are
attachments, and such. Either it will save the attachments as well or I could have a separate button to do the same with any attachments; archiving them and renaming them a specific way based on date, file type, sender, etc.
How can I implement this? I assume it's in the method showMessage_Click. Which leads me to another question, what is the showMessage_Click even from? It is what causes my messagebox to pop up when you click the button, but assuming I want a save
dialog or something else rather than a messagebox, do I still use showMessage_Click or is there another XXX_Click method to use for when clicking the button that would be more appropriate for my goals.
Also is there a list somewhere showing all of these different event methods?
Thanks for any help and guidance you can offer.

    Hello,
It looks like you need to replace the standard SaveAs dialog with your own. To get this implemented you may repurpose the Save buttons on the ribbon, so each time the user clicks to save the item your custom dialog window is displayed. See Temporarily
Repurpose Commands on the Office Fluent Ribbon for more information.
If you need to implement this as a separate feature - just add custom controls to the Ribbon UI (aka Fluent UI). See Walkthrough: Creating a Custom Tab
by Using the Ribbon Designer to get started quickly.

  • Outlook 2013 add-in will not stay enabled

Everytime Outlook 2013 (windows) closes the add-in for iCloud changes to disabled. The only way I can sync calendars etc, is to manually enable the iCloud Add-in EVERY TIME I open Outlook.  What's up with that? It used to work perfectly. I have been through all the help screens and nothing works.

    Hello EFBenzal
If you are using Windows 8.1, then check out the article below to resolve the issue of iCloud becoming disable within Outlook.

  • Excel freezing and Outlook losing Add-in

I am having two issues on a workstation running Office 2013 home and business. The first issue is Excel randomly freezing when opening spreadsheets, it's random and will open two spreadsheets ok and freeze on the third and vice versa, there's nothing wrong
with the spreadsheets. When it freezes it gets to the point where half the excel interface is loaded and locks up (it isn't not responding in Task Manager, still says running) and I have to close Excel and try again.
    - Tried full Office repair using online recovery
    - Tried different user profile
    - Tried opening spreadsheets from a network location and local drive
    - There are no errors in the Event logs regarding this at all
    - Disabled AV software, all Windows updates installed, still happens in Excel safe mode, disabled all excel add-ins
    - Run full virus scan, gone through and closed all the processes on the machine that I can, tested excel after stopping each process
    - Run full windows memory diagnostic and no errors reported
    - Computer is HP workstation only couple of months old, all latest drivers and updates
    - The workstation is running Windows 7 x64 Pro, Trend Micro AV software, part of a SBS 2011 domain.
The other issue I am having on the same machine and reason I ask the question here instead of creating a new thread is because I thought they may be related. We use an Outlook 2013 add-in but on this machine every time we close Outlook the add-in disappears
we actually have to go back in to Outlook each time and re-enable it and it works ok.
I can only think of two options one is complete removal and reinstall of Office which I don't think will fix the issue or complete format/reinstall of Windows which will be very time consuming and would rather not do.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Thanks a lot for the detailed information you gave, it was very helpful. After read though your post, could you help me on some questions:
    For Excel crash:
    Questions:
Is this the only workstaion which having this issue?
Is this issue happen on particular spreadsheet?
What is the cpu model of this workstation?
Was this issue starting suddenly? If so what has been changed on the server?
Some steps I would suggest to try:
Clean boot your workstation and try to open the spreadsheet again.
Delete temp files of current user.
    Disable hardware graphics acceleration
File: Options: Advanced: Disable hardware graphics acceleration.
Also please collect some information for me and send the information through mail to: [email protected]

Click on the Run button (recommended) to start the diagnostic process.
Follow the onscreen instructions to run the diagnostic on this computer, or on a different computer.
    For Outlook
    Questions:
Is this issue only happening on this workstation?
Is the Group Policy set in your domain to control 3rd party loading behavior?
Does Outlook start up slow? (Sometimes if Outlook start time exceeded threshold, add-in will be disabled)
Some steps I would suggest to try:
Change registry key under: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins(name_of_the_addin), set load behavior to 3, which specifies that the add-in is loaded at startup. For more information, see
    LoadBehavior Values.
    Delete registy key under: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\outlook\resiliency\disableditems\
Let me know the result, so we can check further, thank you.

The icloud add-in keeps disappearing on Outlook 2013.  I go to Add-ins and add it back in but if I close Outlook and return later, the add-in is gone and I have to add it in again.  I've tried adding it in as Administrator, but it still disappears.  I have removed and reinstalled icloud but this does not help.  How do I fix this?

Go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Settings. Then set up the iPod with your ID and media

  • User Access to Public Folders Disappearing (Outlook 2013)

I have one particular user who is losing access to public folders in Outlook 2013.  I have found that going to
File > Account Settings > Account Settings > Email [TAB] > Repair... and then following through that dialog temporarily restores public folder access after restarting Outlook.  However, once Outlook is restarted
for 30-60 seconds, the public folders disappear again. This is only happening for this one user.  They receive their public folder permissions via group membership.  Other group members report no such issue. I had another user with identical permissions
log into the same workstation and they again had no issue.
What could be causing this? This is a particularly bothersome problem since this user happens to be the office scheduler and the calendar they schedule on is public (which, thanks to reduced functionality in Exchange 2013, is no longer accessible in OWA).
Tech specs: Exchange 2013 CU5 accessed from Outlook 2013 running on Windows 8.1 Update.  Outlook did not log any events during the time when public folders were dropped, nor are there any network connectivity issues being logged.
    Any ideas for resolving this?

    Hi,
Please check the connection status for Outlook.
Press the CTRL key and right-click the Outlook icon in the notification area, then select Connection Status.
Please run the command get-mailbox administrator | fl defaul* to check the default public folder mailbox for this affected user.
Do you have mail-enabled public folders? If you have mail-enabled public folders, you can check if this user can view public folders in OWA.
If possible, please re-add the public folder permissions for this user to check result.
    Best regards,

  • Recieveing "OnUCAppointmentGetVisible" error in Outlook 2013 (64 bit) - "Custom UI Runtime Error in Lync Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office 2013"

    Hi All,
I originally posted this in the MS Support forums (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2013_release-outlook/recieveing-onucappointmentgetvisible-error-in/1a40eca2-8cd1-40f1-a92f-cb08f0af6b72), but was directed over here.
I have recently upgraded an installation of Office 2010 to 2013 (both 64 bit) but am now receiving an error which says:
Window Title - "Custom UI Runtime Error in Lync Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office 2013"
An error occured while calling the callback: "OnUCAppointmentGetVisible"
This seem to happen when I initially open a calender entry, and when I close the entry (most only the first time I close the entry).
I did have some developer tools installed for Office 2010 and VS 2010 which played around with Excel,2013 but I have now uninstalled these.
In addition, BCM 2010 was installed (but for the time being has been uninstalled), but I don't think that is the culprit.
The issue is being caused be an Outlook add-in. I have three COM add-in enabled, but the one causing the issue in the "Lync Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office 2013".
We are currently trialling Lync in a demo installation which is in a different domain to any of the Exchange accounts, but should this cause a problem? For the time being I have disable this add-in.
    Regards,
    Chris
    Chris

    Hi,
Sorry for my misunderstanding. If the issue is determined to be caused by Lync Meeting Add-in, please remove this add-in from Outlook, then go to Control Panel to repair Office 2013 program. After repairing,
this add-in would be automatically reinstalled. Please check whether the issue persists. About how to repair Office programs, please refer to:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/repair-office-programs-HA010357402.aspx
If the Lync Meeting Add-in is not automatically reinstalled, please try to manually add this add-in by the following steps:
    1. Starting Outlook 2013 as an Administrator (right click, run as Admin).
    2. Click File > Options > Add-ins, Manage Com Add-Ins Go... > Add..., C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15\UCAddin.dll, OK.
    3. Close Outlook and start it as a normal user.

Using windows 8.1 and outlook 2013 with iCloud Outlook Add-in so that my iPhone 5 will sync with outlook. Now reminders work on iPhone 5, but don't work in outlook 2013. Help, I've tried everything I can think of or found on the internet.

    Hi,
Please follow the steps below to make sure the reminders have been enabled in Outlook:
On the File tab, click Options.
Select Advanced in the Outlook Options dialog box.
In the Reminders section, select Show reminders.
    Click OK.
I also found a similar thread here:

As mentioned in the thread, you can try these steps:
Use MFCMAPI to delete the Reminders Folder, then run "outlook.exe /resetfolders" to recreate this folder:
    Download MFCMAPI:http://mfcmapi.codeplex.com/releases/view/118446

  • Outlook 2013 crashes when PDFMaker add-in is enabled

Outlook 2013 crashes when the Acrobat v.11.0.3 PDFMaker add-in is enabled. Outlook 2013 will automatically disable the add-in.
The Outlook 2013 version is 15.0.4517.1509, 32 bit. Windows 7 Pro 64 bit is the OS.
Below is the screenshot of the Outlook Account Info page.
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

I was having to start Outlook 2013 two times every time I turned on my computer (running Windows 8.1 64-bit). The first time, Adobe Acrobad crashed Outlook, disabled PDF Maker, and closed. The second time Outlook started, told me it disabled PDF Maker, and gave me the option to re-enable. I then click to re-enable PDF Maker.
However, I tried LoriAUC's suggestion #1, to launch Outlook 2013 as Administrator. When I did that, Outlook just started up without disabling PDF Maker and without crashing. And PDF Maker remained availble to use within Outlook. That's the way it should always work.
So, I remember that Outlook ran fine with PDF Maker until this month of February 2014. I wonder what changed, Outlook or Acrobat Standard Edition so that Outlook crashes (unless running Outlook as Administrator).
In the meantime, I wonder how to make Outlook start as Administrator automatically without my having to do any extra steps. Or is there a better fix.
