Link objects in reports visible without permission

I am creating reports that have links to forms. I wish these links to be disabled when someone is not provided permissions to the link or to the resulting form. I have created link objects and set the permissions for public to not have access, but the reports which the public does have access to still displays the link and allows public access to the form (unless I protect the form, which works, but I don't want the public to access the link at all).
Do the priviledges on the links work? And if so, where do they apply? Because they don't seem to apply to the reports I have them in.

First off can you access the report in the native web interface remotely?
BTW I don't recommend accessing the report via the console too much overhead.

Linked Objects _ Financial reports

I have got Linked Objects :- Text ,Images which are used in around 100 reports.
last time i had to change the image and text in all reports .I opened one report inserted the new image and text and saved(Overwritten) the NEW images on the OLD images with "Link to source object " Option and removed the old images from the report.
But the changes did NOT reflect in other reports.I had to do the changes manually to all reports by reporting the linked objects.
What is the best way to do the changes dynamically in all reports.

Once you have the new object you need to save it over the old object in the workspace as well.

BUSINESS OBJECTS- Crystal Reports-based out of Function module

We are right now creating BUSINESS OBJECTS- Crystal Reports. Our client requirement is to create this report based out of u201CFunction moduleu201D.
With the current parameters settings at the Crystal Reports designer we are able to create the report based on View and Linking various table. The reports get executed and fetch data. But when we create a report based out of FM, the report returns nothing. The screen stays in u201CNot responding stageu201D and terminates after without any message/pop-up.
Can anyone please help us resolving this? Are there any parameters/settings to be done which we are missing?

Not much info to go on. What version of Cr are you using?
What database and version are you using?
How are you connecting to the database, ODBC, OLE DB or native driver?
Have you turned tracing on the server to what SQL is being passed from CR?
Have you copied the SQL from Show SQL in the Designer and paste that into a DB SQL test tool to verify you should be getting data back and that you are not returning so much data it's going to take a week to get?
Not responding simply means CR is waiting for data, try being patient and see if you ever get data or add a Record Selection formula so you only get a few rows of data.
Try reporting off of a single table itself to verify it works and you have permission to run the SQL.

I am having some issues with an application which I developed using CR XI. On my computer, there are no problems. I am running Windows XP. Now, I have installed this application on Windows 2003 Server, and I am having problems with the Linked Object Ole (It is a logo.bmp file). Any time I want to view a report, a message appears stating:
"Some links could not be updated because their sources are presently unavailable."
This is for my Logo.bmp file. I know it is there and if I try to click on the button to change the source and then select the logo.bmp file, it come up and says the file is corrupted. I know this file is not corrupted, becasue I can open it up in a paint application without any problems.
Please help me with this.

I think I could solve that problem.
You have to remove the OpenWithList entry for the .bmp class.
Place the following into a .reg file

Excel VBA to access sharepoint list without permission

Hi,
I do find solution to retrieve the SharePoint list from excel VBA but my problem now is on the SharePoint permission to the list.
I am developing this solution in excel because i don't want the particular user to access the list direct from the portal because the list contains some unique and confidential data. So what i did was created a new view in the portal with selected column
and i connect to the view from excel. So every time the user want to retrieve the data, he can run macro to refresh the data in the excel.
When i run the macro it can generate the list because i do have permission but if i run the same macro on the person machine, excel request for username and password because he don't have the permission to the list.
Are there any work around to allow the user to generate the data in excel without permission to the SharePoint list.

I've done this before using SQL Server Reporting Services integrated into SharePoint.
Using SSRS, create the report you want the end user to view. Then create a Report Subscription, emailing the end user (or putting it in a file share/Doc Lib) the report. If they want to run it interactively, you can enable caching on the report, which would
pull the report from the last time it was scheduled to run (the data would not be 'real time' in this case).

This is only a simple sales receipt application that uses dgv and textboxes to push its data to dataset to the crystal report, a simple one but there are instances that it is very slow.
But I'm having trouble implementing this using SSRS, since I'm only new to this one, wherein I created the report using report wizard, with two button options inside the form for print preview or direct print selection. Actually, it is very easy to implement
with print preview because it uses reportviewer. My problem is that how can I print the report directly without using a reportviewer?

I am trying to upload a BW role from EP , while doing role upoad activity, when I am giving role name, system namein the first step it is identifying the role from the system.
To that role four reports has been attached.
After uploading the role, the role has been get uploaded, but the reports which are attached to the role it is showing that "Linked Objects Not Found", for all the reports.
For all those reports I have checked the web url on BW server it is corect but then also I am getting above message.

So the use of the objects transfered to the client seemed to me a good solution for showing reports on the client. The objects mostly link to several other objects (properties of type <type> or properties of type [] <type>) and the links are correctly configured in database assistant.But: Whenever using one of the linked fields, all of the main fields will never show up in the report.So, what is the correct way of showing a master / detail report using linked object collections??? What database and connection type are you using? Are you connecting the report directly to the database, or trying to assign the datasource to object data?
It sounds like you might be trying to use a linked list, collection or other C# construct to pass your data in. This currently isn't supported by the Crystal Reports SDK. You can use a DataSet or a DataTable, and possibly also an IDataReader depending on which version of Crystal Reports you're referencing in your project. Of course you can also connect directly to the database, even if the database isn't on the same machine as the application.
The way to show master records with detail information is through the use of subreports and linked subreport parameters. Linked subreports take their parameter value from a record in the main report, so that only the data appropriate to that master record is displayed. The guys over in the [report design|SAP Crystal Reports; forum can help you out with this if you have questions on the specifics.

Dispute Case - Linked Objects- Various- URL

We have a requirement to create a Dispute Case through a custom interface program. We have been doing this using BAPI_DISPUTE_CREATE.
Now, I need to programmatically link a URL to Dispute Case -> Linked Objects->Various->URL. An custom element type for u2018URLu2019 was configured in the Registry for this in our SAP system.
This is usually achieved programatically using the tables parameter OBJECTS of the BAPI. We have to pass the OBJ TYPE & KEY to this parameter.
Since configuration does not allow the BOR_TYPE to be defined on tab u2018Connection Parametersu2019 of the Element Type URL in the Registry, what OBJTYPE and KEY works for this?

I have a question. We're also trying to use BAPI_DISPUTE_CREATE in order to create dispute cases, but the function needs a unique GUID number in order to create the dispute case. How did you manage to maintain this guid number?
Because of this problem, we started using the function UDM_DC_CREATE, which generates a GUID itself, if you do not maintain one.
Sorry for the inconveince, the problem was because of a wrong attribute, I can create a dispute case with this function without maintaining the guid id.

Publisher "link to this report" throwing js error

When viewing a report I'm getting a javascript error when trying to click "Link to this report":
'reportLinksMenu' is not defined.
Anyone else having this issue?

Your post is from 2008...but same javascript error is still available with bip 10g event with latest patchset (that is of may 2011)
To resolve this error you need to do the following and save your report after thos modifications :
- Add an RTF template to your report
- Add a layout to corresponding RTF template for your report
After thos changes, you'll be able to click on "Link to this report" without geting the javascript error message
It looks like "Link to this report" throws this error only when there is no layout defined for xdo (that is the report).
You need to add a template because you cannot save the report if the layout has no template (that is the rtf)

Deactivate a link from a report

Is it possible to deactivate a link from a report? Here is the problem I am facing. I have a database that will be used by 6 people and I am using a report to display records to be worked. So, when one user clicks on a record to make edits, I want to ensure that the other 5 users can't select the same record. I am trying to keep users from doing duplicate work and having an error message given to the user who doesn't save the record first. I didn't know if it was possible to do a conditional link by checking the session to see if the record is currently called up? Any help would be appreciated.

Simplistically:
When you "pull up" your record to edit, you can write a onload process to set a flag on that record with the user/timestamp to indicate that the record is locked. When the record is saved back to the database, have the save process clear this flag.
Of course, in a real-world situation, many other factors have to be considered, as Scott was alluding to...
What happens if User pulls up the record and his browser crashes, he leaves the page without saving or goes for lunch or ...? No other user will be able to edit that record. This is generally considered a "non scalable" design, but if it works for you, go ahead!
