Link to user-profile
Hi,
I want to create a static user list. From this list I want to be able to view the user profiles.
When creating the user list as a link list, I can't "decrypt" the link to the user profile.
When using a system-user list (like user-list reaching by klicking on a user-group) I don't know which Iview I've to use and I don't know how to tell him which users are in this group.
Please give me some advice.
Thanks Janko Mühling
Hi Sunny,
Unable to guage the prob here. But can give you the step by step process to set a Partner Determination procedure.
1) Define Partner Functions
2) Define Partner Determination Procedure (PDP)
2) Assign Partner Functions to PDP
4) Create Access sequences and Accesses
5) Assign Access sequences to respective Partner Functions
6) Assign PDP to new Transaction created
This will surely help you acheive the requirement.
Please revert if any issues.
Please Reward points if helpful

Display Assistant Field as Clickable Link to Users Profile
Hi
I've added the Assistant field to the People Search results page. However, the data for the field displays as the users account name i:0#.f|membership|[email protected] instead of the users Display Name. I would prefer that their display name
is displayed and if we could event take it one step further to be a link to their user profile page.
Thanks!Hi Will Ho
I don't think that is what I'm looking for. I don't think that I explained it well. But, of course, thank you for taking the time to assist!
I added the "Assistant" field so that it displays on the People Search results page. The reason for this is that staff members want to know who a persons assistant is if they are not in the office. So, they search for the person and
now, listed under that persons contact information on the people search results page is a field called "Assistant".
All of that works great. The issue that I'm having is that I would like for the value of this field, which currently displays as the Assistant's account name to display the friendly or preferred name (Display Name) instead.
For instance. The Assistant field might show i:0#.f|membership|[email protected] as the value. But I would like for it to simply display the users name
Chris Vaughn
Now, if we are able to achieve the above, then I would like to know if we can take this just one step further and to have the Assistant's name be clickable and, if clicked, would take the user to that Assistant's profile page in SharePoint.
This is all in SharePoint Online.
Thank you all for your help! -
User - Profile link table?
Hi All,
We are connecting via SAP JCo to an ECC 6.0 system. The task is to retrieve all users that have a specific set of profiles.
Currently we are using RFC_READ_TABLE on USR02 to get a list of User Names, and then with each name making a call to BAPI_GET_USER_DETAIL and then checking if the user has the specified profile.
This works fine if almost all users have one of the specified profiles, but isnt so great if only a few of them do as it makes a call to the BAPI for every user. It would be much better if we only had to make the BAPI call for those users that we already knew had the specified profiles.
My question, Surely there is a link table or somewhere that links the users to the profiles, Where abouts is this, or what is it called.
Any help or pointers would be much appreciated.Hi Paul,
There is a standard SAP report that list users assigned to a specific role (program name is RSUSR002). I've had a quick skim through the code and there's nothing obvious, but you may find something of use in there.

When I click on a link in Thunderbird to open a web page, and Firefox is not already open, I want to have the user profile screen presented so that I can select which profile to use for the Firefox session. Instead, it opens the last used profile. Is there a way to do this?
That is is always a problem when you are using multiple profiles and Firefox isn't running.
It might work if no profile is selected (i.e. marked as Default=1 in profiles.ini).<br />
You can use desktop shortcut that open with a specific profile (-P "profile").<br />
There is also a setting in the Profile Manager (Don't ask at startup). -
Hi everyone,
I installed user profile service and synchronize. When I go to my site by administrator user every things is OK.
But when I login by another user the my site is look like this
Please guide me to resolve this problem.
Thanks in advance. Can you please check and share mysite setting details. Check for below:
Create a site collection at the root using the My Site Host template
Assuming you want users’ MySites to be created at
http://mySiteHost/personal/[John_Smith], create a Managed Path for the web app. The path should be personal, and the type should be
Wildcard Inclusion.
In User Profile Service Application, set My Site Host location to
http://mySiteHost, and
Personal Site Location to personal.
Enable Self-Service Site Creation for the web app
Check when the timerjob was mysite last executed. Try to manually run them
Check ULS Log for possible error and share error details with us
If this helped you resolve your issue, please mark it Answered -
I manage a couple of different version of SharePoint, which we are in the process of migrating to SharePoint 2013. I have a problem which I am not sure how to resolve. We are using MetaLogix to migrate site and site collection data from an older SharePoint
2007/WSS3.0 server environment into our new SharePoint 2013 environment and we are having a problem with user profiles that get created.
I have SharePoint 2013 set up for "SharePoint Profile Synchronization" and some of our user's profiles are being created in an older format that shows the user's claims account information, rather than the more fancy profile type that allows us
to include pictures and click on "follow this person" links.
If we manually delete the profile, it will be recreated properly however, as we are migrating many sites and collections over, it is near impossible to do this and keep track of each user so that their profiles can be deleted and recreated.
Is there some way to change this behavior so that SharePoint will only create the newer style of user profile? These 'profiles' are you looking at them in the User Profile Service Application itself or are you looking at site collections? There is a huge difference between the two but people often miss it.
In most cases you'll have some partial information on the Site Collections but when you click through to their actual profile (not just their User Information List entry) you'll see the prettier version. That information is normally internally synchronised
by a timer job but that may not have run yet and/or the fact that your users haven't actually used the site may be causing it not to update them (it's an efficiency matter).
Finally: Drop your sales guy at Metalogix an email, they will bounce it to one of their techies and they'll have seen it a million times. -
Web - What is easiest way to implement User Security and User Profiles
Hi, I am new to these forums and kind of new to Java. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum!
Bit of background to my experience with java
I have been playing about with java for a number of years and have created a few basic programs such as a screen shot tool that allows you to capture to default locations and look at previews first etc. I am now venturing into web related stuff. I work in IT doing systems testing and have done bits of basic development on various things.
What I've done so far
I am using Netbeans IDE 6.7 and MySQL 5.0
I am trying to learn more complex java and have decided to try build a basic web / database system that basically implements adding / amending / deleting data from a MySQL database through web pages. I am now trying to implement basic user access and profiles. I have so far got the following:
- MySQL table with user info - username / password
- JSP page with usual login stuff
- Servlet that validates the username and password - if correct forwards to main menu page.
Its as simple as that - there is nothing stopping you just typing in the URL of the main menu page and going from there.
What I want
I am wanting to eventually get the following:
- User authentication so that you have to logon before you can access anything else
- User profiles that determine what each user can or can't do, restricting the pages / services / options available (i.e. normal user can't delete etc)
- Would it need some sort of session manager to allow multiple users etc?
I appreciate this is a fairly open question but what is the easiest way to start implementing this? Not after specific code as I would prefer to try figger things out myself, but a point in the right direction would be great. It doesn't have to be extremely secure as this is just for me at the minute.
I have spent all day looking at things like session data / url rewriting / security settings in web.xml / bespoke servlets and am now in java overload!Hi everyone,
I've now actually gone back to the tutorial that I linked to above and implemented that using form login and j_security_check.
Agree with Saish, and although I don't know enough about the other options to give a good reason, using realms and j_security_check just seems to be a bit cluncky and messy. I would also prefer something a bit more generic, that doesn't rely on setting users in glassfish, hence why I started with my own user table.
Anyway, I will leave it as is for now and maybe come back and try one of the other options.
The only problem I can see now is that to add users i will need to go through all the steps of adding users in glassfish and web.xml... Is there a way to do this through a servlet or something so I can have a jsp page to add users that also creats all the other bits for it to work?
Thanks everyone for your help -
Unable to push user profiles to AD groups with Profile Manager since upgrade to Server v3
Since upgrading our OS X Mac server from 10.8.5 to 10.9.1, and OS X Server app to v3 (now 3.0.2) I have been unable to push or modify user profiles to AD groups (or AD users) using Profile Manager. This was working fine on OS X 10.8.5. Pushing device profiles is still working OK after the upgrade.
From what I can see from the logs on the client side and server side, it seems related to a problem with the mdm authtoken.
In the client console I can see this entry:
27/01/14 14:30:15.844 mdmclient[38557]: *** ERROR *** [Agent:636102071] Unable to proceed with connection to: https://ourserver.ourdomain/devicemanagement/api/device/mdm_connect (com.apple.mdmconfig.mdm) because don't have valid MDM AuthToken
On the server, in the php.log I can see the corresponding attempt to authenticate:

So I can see there is a failure to authenticate, but don't really know how to troubleshoot this further. Or maybe this is just a bug in the new server app?
I have tried to remove and re-enroll clients in Profile Manager but no joy there.
In the client's Keychain I can see an MDM user AuthToken linked to the correct user account.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestionsI just wanted to update my post, as this issue for me is resolved.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the Server.app on our Mac server, since then I've been able to push profiles to AD Users and Groups. I guess that in my case the Server app got into a bit of a mess when it was upgraded to v3.
Now the next headache I have is that my AD Groups which are displayed in Profile Manager are not syncing any recent changes. I think I'm probably seeing the same issue as described in this post

Unable to start User Profile Sync Service
Hi,
I am currently facing some issues with starting the User Profile Sync Service on my SP2013 farm.. I was wondering if someone could help me out a bit.
I have successfully installed the SP2013 farm on a environment that has access to our AD etc. and I have also
restored the database from SP2007 and converted it to Claims authentication etc. The one thing I can’t get to work is to enable the User Profile Sync Service on the server. I have checked quite a bit of TechNet blogs and other sites and tried almost everything
suggested but it still fails. I’ve also recreated the farm from scratch yesterday again but no luck still
L.
The below is what I have done:
Farm Admin account – spadmin2013 is local admin on all SP Farm servers (2 WFE and 2 APP Servers) and has log on locally rights as well on security policy. On the SQL DB it has dbo permissions on the Sync, Profile and Social DB’s.
Farm Service account – spservice-s is a managed farm account that is used to run the various services of the farm (used during the config wizard part).
From within the Admin Control Panel I have verified the managed accounts and it is indeed spadmin2013 which owns the User Profile Sync Service (not the application itself). When I try to start the service it tries to do that for 5-10 minutes and then fails
and goes back to stop and I do not see any error. I have created a custom service application with new database that runs on spadmin2013/spfarm/ldap accounts etc. I can see from the Windows services – FIM and FIMSync service try to start using the spadmin2013
and then go back to disabled. I have also tried giving the spadmin2013 rights to replicate the AD as few blogs suggested that. I am not sure where this is going wrong or what is missing. I had successfully got this to work and still can get it to work on my
first SP2013 server which is a standalone – running SQL, SP app and WFE on the same box.
In fact I also tried to activate this service first before I joined my 3 other servers to the farm and had no luck. I am kinda lost here as to what is going on!Right. i ran a new log as suggested. I have also cleared the config cache and created a Powershell profile as suggested in this link - http://blogs.msdn.com/b/bryanbolling/archive/2014/01/02/unable-to-start-user-profile-synchronization-service.aspx
I checked the ULS Logs and i can see the below error -

Claims Based Authentication and Editing User Profiles
Hi All,
I have an interesting issue where I have a SharePoint Farm setup with both the intranet and mysites web applications setup using Claims Based Authentication. While everything seems to work fine, you are able to search for users, view properties and users
can change their own profile properties. However when you configure a profile administration account (an account with the "manage user profiles" permission on the User Profile Service Application) and you attempt to use that account to edit
another users profile you get hit with a generic error page.
Delving deeper you get the following errors:

It seems similar to an issue in the blog post here: http://kb4sp.wordpress.com/2012/12/05/user-cannot-be-found-shenanigans-one-way-active-directory-trusts-and-sharepoint-2013/ however I tried what was suggested and it didn't work.
Any help with this is appriciated. This line offers clues about the actual problem:
Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.UserNotFoundException: DOMAIN\AUSER
According to the MSDN link (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.office.server.userprofiles.usernotfoundexception.aspx)
it is not able to find the user in the profile store. Additionally the link you mentioned (http://kb4sp.wordpress.com/2012/12/05/user-cannot-be-found-shenanigans-one-way-active-directory-trusts-and-sharepoint-2013)
suggests that the account being used to validate accounts on the production domain may have a problem.
If there a way you can test that account in isolation against the DC?

User Profile Service - User Profile Incremental Synchronization Progress: 33% Status: Pausing
It has been almost 15 days.
Both User Profile Service and User Profile Synchronization Service are in Started state and FIM service also starting
I tried clearing sharePoint config cache.
I also restarted the sharepoint timer service.
I tried almost everything that is on Internet but nothing helped me.
Is there any other way to solve the issue as I was struck on production server (ASAP)
In synchronization serivce manager status of MOSS_DeltaImport is Inprogress from past 2 days
Best Regards.Hi,
Please follow the steps in the link below to clear the configuration cache.
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/jamesway/archive/2011/05/23/sharepoint-2010-clearing-the-configuration-cache.aspx
Here is a similar thread for your reference:

Or try to clear the file system cache on all servers in the server farm on which the Windows SharePoint Services Timer service is running. Microsoft has provided a step by step procedure on clearing file system cache from the SharePoint front-end servers
in this kb article.
You can also see the ULS logs and check error messages.

Date & Time: Can't Change Year on a User Profile
I have multiple profiles on my Mac. One of the profiles has a year of "2556," even though I have it set to sync automatically via time.apple.com. Now when I log into a different user profile, the year is current "2015." I've unchecked to "set date and time automatically" and tried to change it manually on the user profile in question, but unable to change it.
Any suggestions on how to force a change on a profile?Good link. The Language & Region was a good place to look. Attempting to restore defaults was not an option. However the Region was pointing to Africa. Once I changed that, everything else fell in place.
Thanks! -
Multiple Apple IDs, Multiple Apple Devices, Multiple User Profiles, & One Mac
My husband and I recently bought our first mac and iPhones. When we set each of them up I'm not sure we took the best method as far as ease of access to content and simplification. Each iPhone is linked to a separate Apple ID and we have two user accounts on our mac that each use our own Apple IDs. This prevents us from sharing content between devices linked to the other person's Apple ID. Is there a way to overcome this or should we have set up our devices differently? When we got the mac and transferred our music over from our old computer we ended up essentially setting up duplicate files, one for each user profile. We've each purchased items or downloaded digital content on each Apple ID. Is there a simple way to combine all of this content and maintain two user profiles? I'm fine with even reducing our profiles to one if that ultimately simplifies everything and we don't lose anything. However, keeping our iPhones under separate Apple IDs allows for personal settings and downloads. We're also considering buying an iPad. Would registering all of our devices make things easier? How should we have set up our accounts and devices? How can we make things simpler?
You might try setting up iCloud Family. I haven't tried it but I think it could help. https://www.apple.com/icloud/family-sharing/

Edit User Profile How do I enalble user lo loggin to their own profile page and edit it?
Hi
I am having some problems....... any help would be nice
I am using DWCS3 and ADDT toolbox extension wamp and phpmyadmin
I am trying to create a site for people to be able to post a profile with a picture and info and display it in a dynamic table.
I can create the form, a database and display the data on another page in a dynamic table all ok..... kind of.
I can create a user registration system with ADDT.
I can redirect them after registration to a post profile page, which has a form to upload details. I can then display those details on a user info page.
I would like to allow logged in users to be able to click on a link to their own profile page , which would show the same form that was filled out in the post profile page, but would be already populated with their previously entered information. I would like users to be able to edit the content of the form and update the information in the database and automatically delete delete any previously entered information ( only in the fields that have been edited)
How do I go about doing this?.... step by step?
I want to allow logged in user to view their own profile not every bodies.... how do I do that?
I have read on another post that to do something similar to this I should filter my database information using a session varialble MM_username that I think is created automatically after user logs in .... but I don;t know how to do this.... I really don;t understand is this the way I link my user to a page that only displays their info ? or is there another way?
I would also like to allow only people who have posted a profile to be able to edit profile ...... do I do that by
1. new user registers and is redirected to login page
2. user logs in and is redirected to an index page that has a post profile button and a edit profile button but only the POST button is active ( and links to a form to post info ) and the edit profile button is linked to a " You must post a profile first" page ( with a link back)
3 so user posts profile and is directed to an index page which has an edit profile button which is now linked to an edit profile page
Does that sound correct?
Any suggestions in getting all this to work would be much appreciatedHi Yomi,
I have created the users page which submits to a members page and tell the user to edit biodata, profession, and hobbies. but on clicking I am really confused on how the id will be transfered from the members page to update biodata and the user updates the form which will show past records. this should also apply to the profession and hobbies
If I understand this right, you might want to consider providing a complete "userdata" section which comes with a Dynamic List and a Dynamic Form to have users add & update their data plus (via the Dynamic List) track all past records
Lastly is it possible I create recordset at will and the id will be passed thru since kt-login-id behaves sololy
I really can´t recommend this "pass user_id as URL variable" approach in this case, as URL variables are displayed in the browser´s address bar -- and this is absolutely insecure, because anyone could simply change the displayed "user_id" value, reload the form and hence edit data which belongs to a different user.
The only secure method is indeed to use ADDT´s session variable kt_login_id
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: var_export()
Not sure, but maybe some "includes" files haven´t been generated
Cheers,
Günter Schenk

User profiles with multiple login accounts in SharePoint 2010
Hello,
Consider the following scenario:
We have Active Directory that is accessible inside our network. Except the sites, accessible from the corporate network, we are exposing SharePoint sites from the same farm on the internet, using claims based authentication with ADFS 2.0 using the same
AD instance as in the intranet.
The problems is that the claims based accounts are not linked to the profiles, that are created for the users by the User Profiles Synchronisation service.
Is there a way to configure the user profiles so if our users are signing in from internet, to access the same profiles that they have, when accessing the SharePoint sites from intranet?
(I've searched a lot, I didn't find excat solution. I've found something related to SPCLaims properties and had confugred them to sync with the AD using the "claims" trusted connection, but the problem remains.)
This is simmilar to allow our users to login using their Facebook, Google, OpenID identity or the identity in our AD. How can this be done?SharePoint user profiles are not populated automatically when using claims-based authentication methods. You must create and populate these profiles yourself, typically in code. Users that map to existing accounts when you migrate to claims-based authentication
will use any existing profile information, but other users and new users will not have profile information. For information about how you can populate user profiles when using claims-based authentication, see "Trusted Identity Providers & User Profile
Synchronization" at
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/brporter/archive/2010/07/19/trusted-identity-providers-amp-user-profile-synchronization.aspx.
The same limitation occurs when using SharePoint Audiences. You cannot use user-based audiences directly unless you create custom code to support this, but you can use property-based audiences that make use of claims values. For information, see "Using Audiences
with Claims Auth Sites in SharePoint 2010" at
http://blogs.technet.com/b/speschka/archive/2010/06/12/using-audiences-with-claims-auth-sites-in-sharepoint-2010.aspx.
