Linked widgets

I'm experimenting with having a widget load another swf file during the widget edition process. That is, when you insert the widget on the stage, the widget panel opens up and I want to dynamically load another swf that will allow to customize the widget (the widget ui). In order to achieve this, I package the widget and its corresponding ui in a folder with the extension .wdgt and put the info in the description.xml file.
I'm able to insert the widget on stage and the widget panel opens up. So far so good. The problem is when I navigate to the Widget Parameters tab, I get a load error telling me that it was unable to load the requested swf file.
Did anyone experienced this? Is there another step that I missed?
Thanks,
Yves

I think I've figured it out. It seems that the linked widgets are only working once you have published your project. I published the project and then suddently, I had the widget UI available the next time I entered the "Widget Parameters" tab. So, it seems that the linked widgets, as defined in the description.xml, are only copied and available when the project has been published at least once. So, it is a bad idea to try to load a widget UI dynamically! This functionality is only useful at run-time.

  • External link issues with FF7+

Hello, after updating to FF7 (and now 7.01) most external links (widgets, etc.) are not displaying. Such as the twitter and facebook widgets. They won't display. Also on twitter, the right column thumbnails of photos (twitpic, etc.) are not displaying. Is there a setting I need to activate or change? Or is this a bug in this version, as FF6 did not have this issue. Same widgets, too. Thanks!

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
*Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
*Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
*Check the exceptions in "Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions"
*Check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the cursor Down key).
If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
Make sure that you do not block third-party images permissions.default.images
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Images_or_animations_do_not_load
There are also extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images.

  • Tabbed Widget Hiding "Content Area" in Normal State ...

Q1. Is it possible to hide the complete content area of the tabbed widget in normal state? ...
Q2. ... and than going back automatically from active state to normal state (same behavoir as Q1) if any other link/widget on the site was activated?
Here´s an image of the idea i have, every tab comtains a picture gallery... should be a cool sliding user experience.
thank you so much for your help!

Have you tried customizing one of the Compositions Widget (Blank/Featured News/Presentation) to simulate a tabbed panel. Since a Compositions Widget allows you the option to hide the target containers on rollout or click.
Try playing with the Compositions if that helps. Would be interested to know any specific feature that you are using Tabbed Panel over Compositions Widget for your above requirement.

  • Previewing slides with external  SWF's

    Hello.
I recently have been having problems with Captivate 4 and importing AS3 animations, in which once published the film will auto play and start all animations, regardless of where they are in my timeline. I did a bit of reading, and found out the way to get around this huge error is to use a custom flash loader.
So I developed a custom widget that allows me to specify the URL/filename of the animation and the size of the animation. When that widget is reached in the timeline, it loads and plays the animation automatically.
This works great, however since i'm referencing the URL locally (i.e. the url is simply 'animation.swf') this will only work when animation.swf is in the same directory as the Published Captivate file. I can't just preview the slide, I have to publish out the whole file.
So! my question is, does anyone know where Captivate stores its previewed published files? I'm hoping I can just throw my SWF's in there to have them play when I hit preview. Otherwise, any thoughts on a better way?

    Hi Isometric,
I stumbled on this solution while  searching. Read this post on my  blog. Since you have a widget, the key is to use a linked widget. FYI ... the publish folder changes from project to project so it's not a reliable way to do this.

  • I'd like to control the use of Safari

Is there an add on that can put a lock (like the one used in the rest of the OS) so that access to the internet via safari is shut off or controlled?
I know I can set this up in parental controls, but that either blocks its use completely or restricts it to certain sites.
I'd like to be able to leave the classroom knowing that people can come in and use applications, including internet-linked widgets, but have Safari only access sites in the bookmarks bar (plus one link deep, say - we have a filter anyway). If I could unlock it by entering a password and then lock it again just by clicking (or have it auto lock after a set time) that would be ideal.
    Any thoughts?

Take a look at [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?q=Session&cat=all&lver=any&pid=1&sort=&pp=20&lup=&advanced= these extensions at AMO] for those features.

  • Page loads in one user accnt, but not another

I thought this was a flash problem, so posted with that premise yesterday. I am posting again with new context:
17" MacBook Pro, 10.6.4, Safari 5.0, Firefox 3.6, Chrome, HD about 60% full, lots of RAM.
My MBP has two user accnts:
    1. MyHome - daily use/configs
    2. Test - used only for trouble shooting, all on defaults, no user configs.
For a certain project application page I need to access:
    1. MyHome accnt cannot load the text and widgets in Safari, Chrome or FireFox. I just see a grid with blank fields & slider bars.
    2. Test accnt loads the page with full functionality in Safari, Chrome and FireFox. Text, fields and links/widgets all display and function as intended.
I trashed Safari & Firefox prefs, uninstalled & updated FlashPlayer, repaired permissions, checked Network configs are same in both accnts (incl DNS), FontBook find&reconcile duplicate fonts. Multiple logout & restart.
Neither user accnt has anything in LIbrary/Internet Plugins.
Also, the page functions properly when accessed via another Mac running 10.5.xx & Safari 5.
I have not encountered other pages which do not load with the MyHome browsers.
I don't think this is a modem, browser or Flash problem. Fonts?
How can I troubleshoot? Any advice appreciated.
    Thx

Excellent, macjack - It was the fonts, sort of. First I looked at the things you suggested for elimination after a SafeMode start:
*No Login Items in either account.
*No folder named Contextual Menu Items in HD/Users/MyHome/Library, so nothing to move.
*No items in HD/Library/Contextual Menu Items, so nothing to move.
I did not execute a SafeMode start.
MyHome/Library/Fonts folder would not be removed, so I moved the contents to desktop.
Also found a Fonts folder in Aps/Microsoft OfficeX/Office and moved it to desktop.
Then I did the dance - replace half, restart, test . The page loaded at each phase, including the last one. All the fonts are back in their folders - This was all move, not copy.
Everything seems to be same as start of problem, but now the problem is gone. Maybe something to do with that old MS Office X suite?
I will mark this thread answered by tomorrow and award a star to macjack. But I want to leave it open for further comment or question.
    Thanks again macjack

  • Creating learning games with Captivate

Hello all, I am new to Captivate.
I want to create a learning game with Captivate, using an "Adventure" genre and using branched presentations. Possibly using conditional actions and widgets.
The idea is the player would make a series of decisions, and the process would lend itself to learning the subject.
Is it reasonable to expect a game like this could be made in Captivate? Are there any examples of this type of game (developed with Captivate)?
I would like to use the advanced actions power of questions slides in the game, so the decisions the player makes is recorded and informs the evolution of the game, but I am not sure if I can incorporate artwork/animations with question slides. I would like to accumulate data about the player response to drive the game. I would like to drape the question slides in art and animations- making the question slides more graphic and game-like than they are as a default.
As you can see, I have an idea, but do not know enough to know if Captivate is a program that well lends itself to this type of thing.
    Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

    Hi Shawn,
As Rick suggested, Flash might be a better alternative to create the flash card. You could then import the animation in Captivate. The drawback will be that you will only be able to see it running when you publish the presentation and manually copy the XML file to the publication folder.
However, you could instead create a static widget and use a "Linked Widget" to deploy your XML file along with the Widget. This way, you should be able to see the Flash cards running in Preview and Publish mode without having to copy the file. I know it works but I never tried to deploy an XML file, only swf files but I don't see why it would not work.

  • Smart file component(html5smartfile) not working

    votefavorite
I have been working on developing a custom extjs console to enable author drop an asset usinghtml5smartfile component. But somehow, the html5smartfile component is not working the way it should. The Area where an author can drop an asset is not displaying. The same is working fine if i am creating a CQ5 dialog. But in my case where i have created a window it's not working.
i have declared my smartfile component like this :-
    var assetLinkDropField = { xtype: 'html5smartfile', fieldLabel: 'Asset Link', ddAccept: 'video/.*',ddGroups: 'media', fileReferenceParameter: './linkUrl', name: './linkUrl', allowUpload: false, allowFileNameEditing: false, allowFileReference: true, transferFileName: false };
but this is rendering like this:-
i have tried a lot, after working for 8-10 hours, i found out that the CQ5 dialog updates the view for the component but in case of my window, i have to update it myself. Thus, with a slight manipulation, i just succeeded in displaying the drag area by by tweaking the declaration like this:-
    var assetLinkDropField = { xtype: 'html5smartfile', fieldLabel: 'Asset Link', ddAccept: 'video/.*',ddGroups: 'media', fileReferenceParameter: './linkUrl', name: './linkUrl', allowUpload: false, allowFileNameEditing: false, allowFileReference: true, transferFileName: false, listeners: { afterlayout: function () { this.updateView(); } } }
so now the panel looks like:-
but still the Drag and Drop is not working. My Window declaration is like this:-
    win = new CQ.Ext.Window({ height          : 750, width           : 700, layout          : 'anchor', // animateTarget   : btn.el, closeAction     : 'close', // Prevent destruction on Close id              : 'manageLinkWindow', title           : '<b>Multi Link Widget Dialog</b>', frame           : true, draggable       : false,modal           : false, //Mask entire page constrain       : true, buttonAlign     : 'center', items : [assetLinkDropField] }); }
Can anyone please look into this issue. I am stuck here for 3 days. Thanks in Advance.

add a slider component to the main (loading) swf's library.

  • IPad3 and flash cards over 32gb

Ran into a problem with my new iPad3 trying to read 64gb flash cards formatted with exFAT file system. Called Support and they said the iPad does not currently support the exFAT file system. • CS4 and CS6 design views

When viewing the same index file I see significant differences between the design views of Dreamweaver CS4  and Dreamweaver CS6. The index file was created in CS5. My CS4  displays it correctly while CS6 design view is not even close. The live views are correct with both.

Here is the original .php doc. (Does not contain any php because that was the exercise to insert it).

  • Lockup

Lately my Mac (10.9.2) has been freezing. I can move the mouse pointer around the screen but nothing else works. I have to force a power down and reboot.
I can't find anything in the logs that would indicate what's causing the freeze. Here's the last five minutes of the system.log from just before the latest freeze. Can anyone see what's wrong?

  • Is there a way to link or create a widget that links back to the iTunes U app on your iPad from your iBook?

Is there a way to link or create a widget that links back to the iTunes U app on your iPad from your iBook?
I have already found the Apple Widget Builder (http://widgets.itunes.apple.com/builder/) and that works fine if you want to link to the "App Store", but I want to know if there is a way to "open an app" that is already installed on the iPad instead of double tapping the home button to switch between apps. (I know using the home button is very simple, but I am trying to find an even easier way to just "tap a widget" or "link" that will open iTunes U right up) I am only asking if this is possible for people who may have a hard time running an iPad at the beginning.
    I appreciate any help, thanks!

I appreciate your help, but I had already looked at LinkMaker and I thought that was my answer, but as far as I could tell that still only links to an app in the app store. Yes it will link to iTunes U in the app store and you can then hit Open, but that is too drawn out of a process. We would like to know a way to just open the app directly.
    Thank you!
