Linking BIW / RRMX to Open Office Calc.

1. How Can BIW be linked to Calc instead of Excel.
     2. How can BIW RRMX / BES be linked to Calc.
3.     Presently mht files which are generated as a result of report broadcasting,  can be opened in Calc as word files. If I  cut & paste this sheet into another Calc Excel sheet, they shows as proper Calc files.  So, my query is how to open the mht files directly as a Calc file.
Thanks
Milind Karoor

In general:
The OS determines what Executable is used for what extension/mime.
So on MS Windows you should map .xls extention to be opened with Calc.
This could answer your question 1 and 4.
Related to your questions:
SAP BI and MS Excel need each other, so forget question 2 this is not going to happen/work as SAP has written specific enhancements for MS Excel to make this work. You cannot just replace it. And even if you would get it to work you will never ever get support from SAP on it.
Cheers,
Benjamin

    Bonjour,

  • Export bookmarks to Excel or Open Office Calc spreadsheet

    How can I export bookmarks to a spreadsheet like Calc or Excel, where they can be searched, sorted, de-duplicated, etc. ?

    FireFox can't do it. The klutzy format of the bookmarks is not suitable for sorting, de-duplicating, or exporting to spreadsheets in a usable form.
    However, there is a program, that will do all that: AM-DeadLinks. And it is free.
    You can download it from http://aignes.com/deadlink.htm
    You can weed out the dead links, de-duplicate, sort, and export as comma or tab delimited file. It does all we wanted!

  • [SOLVED] Open Office Calc Freezes When Saving

    Hello everyone. I have a VERY simple spreadsheet (not a single formula at all, only three columns) that I was updating tonight. I just changed a few fields and went to save it. Unfortunately, it froze. Even worse, I can reproduce this every time I open it and save. Once in a while I can save the document, but most of the time I cannot. I even tried creating a new Calc spreadsheet and am having the same issue.
    Are any of you having the same issue?

    Thanks! I'll do that when I get home.

    I found a page for open office downloads, but they just lead me to a page with a windows version download, is there really a mac version for macs? & can someone give me a direct link to the actual download?
    this is the final download page I am taken to; http://download.openoffice.org/

  • Clicking on a doc file link uses a path to a corrupted Open Office executable

    In a response to my original question, the Tools/Options/Applications window was suggested for handling content type. However, for me, no content types or actions are shown, so I cannot specify a path to the valid version of Open Office.

    As Office is not an Apple product, you may find Microsoft's Office:Mac forums more useful:
    Office for Mac forums
    Those forums are as helpful as Apple's and have the added benefit that employees of the MS Macintosh Business Unit--most are hard-core Mac fans--often work the forums, so you get an "official" answer.
    When posting there, be sure to add something you omitted here: the version of Office. Makes a difference to potential solutions.

  • Open Office in SAP

    Dear All,
    In ALV Grid, there is a option for spreadsheet in place (CtrlShiftF7). ie.,the list is being displayed in Excel screen within SAP environment (Provided, VBA should be enabled in Excel).
    Our requirement is to do the above process in Open Office (in Calc). Is there any setting to complete this ?.

    Check this SAP note under Product Enhancement

  • Discoverer Export to Excel but Using Open Office

    Hi,
    I used to use MS Excel as my spreadsheet but I have migrated to using Open Office's Calc. All works fine except....
    Previously, exporting my Discoverer work sheet results to Excel allowed MS Excel to open up the exported spreadsheet with all formatting intact.
    However, I am unable to replicate this using Open Office (latest version). The exported spreadsheet opens ok, no errors are displayed.... but... all formatting is lost.
    Anyone know if its possible to open up the exported spreadsheet in Open Office and retain formatting?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rob

    Hi Srini,
    Thanks for the update - I'd already seen that link, but we aren't using OBIEE.
    And as for support, I am also pretty sure it isnt - otherwise I would have raised an SR.
    Hopefully, given the umbrella Open Office is distributed under now, it will be supported eventually (though I won't hold my breath!).
    I guess we'll just install Excel on the PC's that need the functionality.
    Thanks again,

  • Where did (Oracle) open office  writer (and other)  certifications go?

    The used to be a certification exam 1z0-885 for Open office writer (and calc etc) : ( see eg: http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?p_org_id=378219&page_id=433 referenced at time of post).
    However these seem to have disappeared without trace!!!
    No retirement ... just vanishment.
    While they were probably not popular from once they priced at over double Mr. Gates' offering .... ( as oposed to just under it when they were under Sun's wing).
    I understand the apache may have open office gathered under its wing .... but have no absolute reference on this.
    Still a retirement or some sort of notice would be appropriate as Oracle had stewardship at one point.
    Rgds - bigdelboy.

    Thanx for confirmation and link. I actually finally found something on the apache website about open office here : http://wiki.apache.org/incubator/OpenOfficeProposal
    I remember the exams were initially introduced by sun so I guess and not really open source related.
    As far as I can tell apache http://directory.apache.org/community%26resources/open-group-certification.html appear to have some connections with certifcation with the open group http://www.opengroup.org/certification/ and I suppose there might be some case for suggestion those exams went under their stewardship.
    But as you say the takeup was low, pricing of certiifcation too high (perhaps double microsofts equivalent ... and it needed to be less) and version have moved on and the beast appears to have gone slightly the way of the various unix variants ... the hope is a useful product can continue sensibly.

  • Bug in Excel's handling of metadata? Or at least a deviation from the Open Office XML specification?

    I've discovered some very strange behaviour in Excel which seems to be contrary to that documented in the Open Office XML specification (OOXML). I couldn't find a way to report bugs against Excel, so I thought I'd try to explain the issue here.
    In short it seems that Excel is removing, and incorrectly re-indexing the metadata I programatically associate with cells.
    First, a summary of the relevant parts of the specification:
    From OOXML 18.9: There are two types of metadata: "cell metadata" and "value metadata".
    Cell metadata follows the cell as it moves. Value metadata follows the value through formulae etc.
    From OOXML 18.3.1.4: The c (cell) element has cm and vm attributes which are both documented as "The zero-based index of the [cell|value] metadata...in the Metadata Part"
    From OOXML 18.9.17: The valueMetadata is "a collection of block element that each define the value metadata for a particular cell". "Cells in the workbook index into this collection".
    The valueMetadata contains bk elements which in turn contain rc (metadata record) elements
    From OOXML 18.9.15: rc elements have t (type index) and v (value index) attributes. t is a 1-based index into metadataTypes and v is a 0-based index into the futureMetadata element which matches the name of the metadata type.
    Here's an example of what this might look like:
    <c vm="0"> <!-- vm points to the first bk inside valueMetadata below -->
    <x:valueMetadata>
    <x:bk>
    <x:rc t="1" v="0" /> <!-- t points to the first metadataType below. v points to the first bk in the futureMetadata below (whose name matches the metadataType to which t points) -->
    </x:bk>
    </x:valueMetadata>
    <x:metadataTypes>
    <x:metadataType name="MyMetaType" ... /> <!-- name dictates which futureMetadata valueMetadata's v attribute indexes into -->
    </x:metadataTypes>
    <x:futureMetadata name="MyMetaType" ...>
    <x:bk>
    <x:extLst>
    <x:ext xmlns:x="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/spreadsheetml/2006/main" uri="http://example.com/extension" p5:value="test value" xmlns:p5="http://example.com/extension" />
    </x:extLst>
    </x:bk>
    </x:futureMetadata>
    The Problem
    From what I can tell, for values of n > 2, if you associate n cells with metadata, Excel will drop the last piece of metadata, and the one at index 1, and it will do so silently. The indices are then 0..n-3, and the association for all but the first (0
    index) will be wrong. This renders the future metadata totally useless.
    For n == 1, Excel just removes the last piece of metadata (index 1). If we try 1-based indexes for the vm attribute on the c element, we get different behaviour. This may not be relevant as it is contrary to the specification, but the slightly better behaviour
    might indicate an off-by-one error:
    n
    Deleted Indices (0-based) when using 0-based indices
    Deleted Indices (0-based) when using 1-based indices

    Demonstrating the Problem
    I have some example code[1] that demonstrates the problem. You will need a file called test.xlsx with cells A1..C2 populated.
    Compile the source as AddMetadata.exe then run with the test file as the only parameter:
    > AddMetadata.exe test.xlsx
    You can look at test.xlsx in Excel, Visual Studio (with the Open XML Package Editor Power Tool for Visual Studio 2010) or the Open XML SDK 2.0 Productivity Tool for Microsoft Office. Looking at the file before and after running AddMetadata.exe you should
    be able to reproduce the behaviour documented above.
    Summary
    It would be good to know if this is really an Excel bug or whether we're doing something wrong / unsupported. Any insight would be very much appreciated.

    If you create a metadatatype with a single metdata block, and you reference that in your vm/cm cell attribute using a *one* based index, Excel seems to see the link and it honors it when saving the spreadsheet.
    So, I ended up with something like:
    <c ... cm="1"/> (I'm dealing with cell metadata, but the concept is equivalente to value metadata)
    <metadataTypes count="1">
      <metadataType name="MyMetaType" .../>
    </metadataTypes>
    <futureMetadata count="1" name="MyMetaType">
      <bk>
        <extLst><ext
    uri="http://example" xmlns:x="http://example"><x:val>87</x:val></ext></extLst>
      </bk>
    </futureMetadata>
    <cellMetadata count="1">
      <bk><rc
    t="1" v="0"/></bk> <!-- this is what gets referenced as cm=1 on the cell -->
    </cellMetadata>
    Hope this helps.

    Right click your document, hover over "Open with..." and then click "Other".
    Find TextEdit and click "Open".
    TextEdit will then do it's best to open your document.
    If you have iLife, do the same but instead of opening with TextEdit open with Numbers, Pages, Keynote, e.t.c.

  • Problem to open Office documents from Sharepoint

    Hello All,
    We have published SharePoint 2013 (NTLM authentication) via TMG 2010. However, we are having the following issue:
    When users try to open (https connection) any Office Documents to Office 2013 they get prompted for credentials, then after they provide credentials they get "Sorry, we couldn't open <URL of the document>". The prompt for credentials is ok because
    persistent cookies are not option for us. We don’t have Office Web Apps in use and we want to open documents to client application. Our company users machines are Windows 7, Office 2013 and Internet Explorer 10/11.
    I made some tests and everything work fine with:
    Windows 7, Office 2010 and Internet Explorer 10/11
    Windows 7, Office 2013 and Internet Explorer 8
    Almost fine:
    Windows 7, Office 2013 and Firefox (latest). With Firefox it works if I open any Office document from summary link list but not if I try to open from inside document library. If I open from document library (right click) to new tab or to new window it works
    fine.
    Any ideas what’s going on? It must be something with IE 10/11 and Office 2013. I also tried with TMG persistent cookie and then I can open Office documents with IE 10/11.
    I also checked with fiddler what happens and I can see that everything stops to 401 error.

    Hello Miikkal,
    You need to enable SharePoint class in IE. Please follow this
    blog and follow this
    article.
    Once, this is done you can Enable all the IE settings to load for Intranet and Trusted zone settings
    Put your site in compatibility mode and trusted zone
    Also, make sure that 2 versions of Office suite is not installed on the system.  Eg. Lync 2013 and Office 2010 on one single machine
    What happen when you by pass your TMG server. To do this we need to make host entry for URL directed to APP server IP Address.
    Thank You, Pallav S. Srivastav ----- If this helped you resolve your issue, please mark it Answered.

  • Using a database in Sun's "Open Office"

    hi
    I could think this tip is not suitable for this forum, but I didn't find another
    so I try here to have an answer to a my question that, I think, can be interesting for other people too...
    I would see in DataBase section of Sun's "Open Office" the data that my program register in a Derby database.
    My first question is if this is possible..
    If this is possible, my second question is: how to get the connection to the database?
    *In the wizard , there are two components to put information in order to get the connection:
    -(1) URL to the source data: jdbc: .....
    -(2) Class of the driver:*
    I made several tries to get the connection:
    In the textBox (2) I put the path to the derby.jar that I use in the application
    but when I push the button I got the message:
    ------"The driver JDBC wasn't load".------
    Could I have same help about what information I have to put there ?
    About the second input data, I think that in the box (1) I should put the (absolute) path to database that I would have the access..
    but..., way it begin with jdbc: ?
    Thank you for an explanation about what is the mean of the two components where put the input data....
    regards
    tonyMrsangelo

    thank you jshell to spend time with your explanation..
    I try to explain how I am seeing the problem:
    In the Drby manual I read:
    Derby consists of both the database engine and an embedded JDBC driver.
    Applications use JDBC to interact with a database. Applications running on JDK 1.5 or earlier, must load the driver in order to work with the database.
    In an embedded environment, loading the driver also starts Derby.
    In a Java application, you typically load the driver with the static Class.forName method or with the jdbc.drivers system property.
    For example: Class.forName("org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver");In the java code I get a connection with this statements:

                    System.out.println(driver + " loaded. ");
                } catch(java.lang.ClassNotFoundException e)     {

                    System.err.println(e.getMessage());
                    System.out.println("\n    >>> Please check your CLASSPATH variable   <<<\n");
                String  connectionURL = "jdbc:derby:" + path + dbName;
                Connection dbconn  = null;
                try {
                    dbconn = DriverManager.getConnection(connectionURL);  // V.I. too
                    System.out.println("Connected to database " + dbName);

                    excp.printStackTrace();
            return dbconn;
        } // getConnection()At this point I think that I should give to Sun's Open Office the same intormation that I do in the java code ..
    Of course I have to do it with a different syntax....
    I think I have to put:
    in the (1) the value of the String connectionURL
    in the (2) the value of the String driver .
    And to give the classpath to "Sun's Open Office" I should go in the menu option : [tools --> options --> OpenOffice.orgBase -- connection]
    to activate the link with the driver derby.jar...
    It was good for me talking with you was because now I think to see the problem in a more correct way..
    What do you think about ?
    Regards..

    I am not sure if it was a PP or Open Office template, but I would like to get my hands on it again as I lost the original. Of course I spend time on Google etc but did not find it. Anybody know where I can find a copy? Or someone has a copy?
    Thanks

    Most presentation programs allow you to create a gradient (a smooth transition from one color to another across the slide) as a slide background. What program are you using?
    Powerpoint
    Check out the information in this link. It shows how to create gradient for the slide background. That covers one image.
    BTW do you remember any keywords, terms, or any other words in either the template, the file name, or the webpage where you downloaded it from?
    no I do not know as said I did a long search to no avail.
    Looking at the cover image, I'm getting the hunch that it was created in OpenOffice. Does OpenOffice have a template browser? Try that if you haven't.
    Besides that, I'm afraid that's about all I've got. It's like looking for a single grain of sand in a desert.
    I just found this: http://blogs.oreilly.com/digitalmedia/uploads/2008/05/OpenOffice3BetaMenu.jpg
    The gradient is the same, and the "swirls" are the same as well. It might easily be a default template or a template available with OpenOffice. Try that.
