Linking error, Oracle 9.2.0.1 debian sid
Hi
During installation of Oracle 9.2.0.1 on debian sid I get the following error:
Error in invoking target ioracle of makefile /opt/oracle/product/9.2.0/rdbms/lib/ins_rdbms.mk
The make.log file reveals the following error:
/usr/bin/ld: /opt/oracle/product/9.2.0/rdbms/lib/oracle: hidden symbol `__fixunssfdi' in usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-linux/3.2.3/libgcc.a(_fixunssfdi.oS) is referenced by DSO
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [opt/oracle/product/9.2.0/rdbms/lib/oracle] Error 1
Do I need to modify the makefile or is it a glibc problem?
I've searched around for a solution to no avail. Any help is appreciated!

Lars Kristensen
Hi,
Oracle required gcc295 for Linux Oracle to link correctly. We put the gcc295 at /opt/gcc295 and the put it first in the path for the Oracle userid. This work very well. Also there was a note the said to look in the files (gen/make files) and change any hard coded reference to a specific gcc location to just gcc. I looked and did not find any hard coded specific gcc. Hope this helps

Error during addition of external link to oracle BPM workspace
Hi All,
I just want to add an external link to oracle BPM workspace and I've followed this tutorial :
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28280_01/user.1111/e15175/bpmug_ext_apps.htm
but I am neither able to view the required, nor getting any error.
During deployment time I'm only getting this message :
Issues were encountered while parsing this deployment to determine module type. Assuming this is a library deployment.
I'm using the virtual m/c version : oel5u5-64bit-soabpm-11gr1-ps4-fp-Workshop-Exp_2
Please help me to resolve the issue.
Thanks in advance.What I meant to say is check the logs at the time you are getting the error since sometimes the logs can be huge in size

LKM Oracle to Oracle DB link - Error ( Jan 5 2009)
Hi ,
My Source and Target databases are Oracle..._
Since my Source has around *2 million records*.....it is taking too much of time in Load Data step....
Intially I was using LKM SQL to Oracle and IKM Oracle Increemental Update...
Looked in to ODI docs and FOrums...it seems LKM Oracle to ORacle (DB Link) would be the fastet way to load the data in target.....
I have a Dblink created between my source and target.... i tested with the SQL it looks fine.............
I created the Topology by mentioning the DBlink name ....
And I straight away ran my interface ......
I am getting this Error:
schema1 is my target schema name.....
When I am using a different LKM it works fine , takes time a lot .....

Unsatisfied Link Error when using Oracle OCI (Type II) driver
Using Oracle OCI (Type II) driver on HPUX with Oracle 9.2.0.4.
If when creating a connection pool via the console, using the Oracle OCI (Type
II) driver, you get the error "Unsatisfied link error with library libocijdbc9.sl
or format error" then check that the library included in the SHLIB_PATH is pointing
at the $ORACLE_HOME/lib32 directory and not just the $ORACL_HOME/libWe do not offer a JDBC driver for Linux in version 5.1. In version 6.0,we
do offer a type 4 driver for Linux.
In version 5.1, I suggest trying the platform independent type 4 JDBC driver
available for free from Oracle. It is supported (as is any JDBC driver)
with WebLogic Server. To download it:
Go to http://www.oracle.com and select the "Download" option.
From the resulting page, use the "Select Utility or Driver" dropdown to
select Oracle JDBC drivers
From the resulting page, scroll down a little (since SQLJ stuff appears at
the top).
Or, to go directly there:

RajdeepHi,
I have 64-bit machine on which OEL 5.4 O/S os installed.I used correct version of Oracle database (11.2.0.2) software to install.
Please refer the output of versions are used.
uname -a
Linux Node-01 2.6.18-164.el5 #1 SMP Thu Sep 3 04:15:13 EDT 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Following are the database software setup used for installation.
p10098816_112020_Linux-x86-64_1of7.zip
p10098816_112020_Linux-x86-64_2of7.zip
For any doubt of version, I used same setup to install database software version (11.2.0.1) and succeed in that.But when tried for 11.2.0.2 installation on same setup then failed. I feel this is some other issue.

Linking error while trying to connect to 10 g oracle db through OCCI
Hello experts,
Iam getting a linking error while trying to connect to 10 g through OCCI.I've tried both available Instant client versions,But no luck.now, I am using instant client 11.2.0.2 with visual studio 2005 and oracle 10 g on 32 bit XP. I get "*The procedure entry point OCILobSetContentType could not be located in the dynamic link library OCI.dll*" linking error
How can i fix this error
Thanks in advance..
Regards,
SrihariHello,
Please ensure that you are using correct PATH and ORACLE_HOME settings - for example if IC 11202 is installed in
c:\oracle\11202\instantclient_112
execute on commandline
ORACLE_HOME=c:\oracle\11202\instantclient_112
PATH=%ORACLE_HOME%;%ORACLE_HOME%\bin;%PATH%
before starting VS2005 from commandline - or generate a commandscript
Inside VS2005 please ensure that you are picking up the libraries from
%ORACLE_HOM%\oci\lib\msvc\v8\*
furtheron, copy the
%ORACLE_HOM%\oci\lib\msvc\v8\*.dll
to %ORACLE_HOME% - otherwise by default the v9 ar picked up (copied during installation)
When this has been done, build the code and test - should work

Frank

The OLITE forum (Database Mobile Server (inc. legacy Database Lite) would be a better place to post your issue. This forum deals with the ODBC driver that connects to a "normal" Oracle database.
Hope it helps,

Problem with using database link from oracle 7 to oracle 9i
Hi To Every One
I have two oracle database oracle 7.3.4.0.1 and oracle 9i 9.2.0.1.0.
and the tns alias to connect to oracle 9i database is oracle9i and tns
alias to oracle 7 database is oracle7.I have no problem in connect to
these database using these tns aliases from either database.The tns
alias for oracle 7 is available in tnsnames.ora file of oracle9i and
tns alias for oracle 9i is available in tnsnames.ora file of oracle 7.
So there is no connection problem from each other.Connection is
working fine for each other but the problem with database links is
like this
Problem:
when i create database link from oracle9i user or public database link
from oracle9i for oracle7 user like this
SQL ORACLE9I >CREATE DATABASE LINK ORACLE7 CONNECT TO <ORACLE7USER>
IDENTIFIED BY <PASSWORD> USING 'ORACLE7';
OR
SQL ORACLE9I >CREATE PUBLIC DATABASE LINK ORACLE7 CONNECT TO <ORACLE7USER>
IDENTIFIED BY <PASSWORD> USING 'ORACLE7';
The links get created sucessfully but when i write command like
SQL ORACLE9I> DESC <ORACLE7USER_NAME>.<ORACLE7USER_TABLENAME>@ORACLE7
I RECEIVE A ORACLE ERROR LIKE
ORA-12663 SERVICE REQUIRED BY CLIENT IS NOT AVAILABLE ON THE SERVER.
OR IF MY COMMAND IS LIKE
SQL ORACLE9I> SELECT <FEILD_NAME> FROM
<ORACLE7USER_NAME>.<ORACLE7USER_TABLENAME>@ORACLE7;
I RECEIVE AN ORACLE ERROR LIKE
ORA-01002 FETCH OUT OF SEQUENCE.
ORA-02063: preceding line from ORACLE7
BUT IF I CREATE A LINK FROM ORACLE7 USER FOR ORACLE9I USER
IT WORKS FINE.
PLZ HELP ME WHAT IS THE PROBLEM THAT THE LINK FOR ORACLE 7 IS NOT WORKING WHEN
IT IS BEING CREATED FROM ORACLE9I.
Thank u.Oracle 9.2.0 does not support connectivity to Oracle 7. The newest version that will support this is 9.0.1.

In PRD system, u might have craeted many symbolic links in /oracle/PRD fileystem . This should be avoided. Symbolic link should not be created in /oracle/PRD ...
Please check why symbolic links are created and get help from System Operation team . Please becareful to unlink symbolic links that are created by non-SAP. Make sure to perform full offline backup .
Please get the help from Unix System Operation team. Also it does not makes any sense to increase value of Unix parameter for maximum symbolic links.

Oracle 8.1.7 on Debian 2.2 (potato)
Hello (again),
I'm trying to install Oracle 8.1.7 on Debian 2.2r2 (kernel 2.2.19 and glibc 2.1.3) but runInstaller dies with SIGSEGV. On the same machine I have already successfully installed Oracle 8.1.6.
I installed Blackdown JDK 1.1.8 but it does not seems to make any diference. No matter what JDK I install and put in my PATH the runInstaller dies with SIGSEGV.
Also tried to "unset LANG", no goog either. LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5, also does not work.
Anyone knows how I can install Oracle 8.1.7 on Debian 2.2r2?
The full error message follows:

#set <envvar>=<value>I have created my System DSN for sq with the appropriate values which works fine when I tested the connection.
These 2 databases are in different servers.
This is how I created the db link in Oracle
create public database link sq
CONNECT TO XXX IDENTIFIED BY "XXX"
using 'sq'
select "Column1"
from "Table1"@'sq';The error I receive is: ORA-01729: database link name expected
When I try to recreate the database link it tells me that: ORA-02011: duplicate database link name
I hope someone could guide me.

LKM Oracle to Oracle DB link - Error ( Jan 5 2009)
It worked fine on the same day when it got some inputs frm this forum... !!
Hi ,
My Source and Target databases are Oracle...
Since my Source has around 2 million records.....it is taking too much of time in Load Data step....

DB Version : Oracle 9.2.0.7.0
Operating System : HP-UX Itanuim 64 11.23
IP : 192.168.0.31
Host : abcdbt
Machine (2)
Version : SQL Server 2005
Operating System : Windows server 2003 x86
IP : 192.168.0.175
Host : SQLDEV1
User/PW : sa/abc@123! (Connect to database)
Database : SQLTEST (exsisting)
Table : T (“ T “ is the table existing in SQLTEST database with 10 rows)
Prerequisites in Machine (2):
a) Oracle 10g software
b) User account to access SQL Server database (sa/abc@123!)
c) Existing SQL Server Database (SQLTEST)
d) Tables (testing purpose) (T)
Steps:
1) Install Oracle 10.2.0.1 (Only SW,No need of database) *(Machine 2)*
2) Create a DSN where your windows Oracle 10g SW resides *(Machine 2)*
Control panel >> Administrative Tools >> Data Source (ODBC) >> System DSN ADD
You can follow this link also.....
http://www.databasejournal.com/features/oracle/article.php/3442661/Making-a-Connection-from-Oracle-to-SQL-Server.htm
I created DSN as
DSN name : SQLTEST
User : SA/abc@123! (Existing user account)
Host : 192.168.0.175 (machine 2)
Already I have 1 database in SQL Server with the name SQLTEST
You can create DSN with different name also (not same as db name also)
3) Create a hsodbc init file in $ORACLE_HOME\hs\admin *(Machine 2)*
Create init<DSN NAME> file
Ex: initSQLTEST
Copy inithsodbc to initSQLTEST
And edit
initSQLTEST file
HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = SQLTEST <DSN NAME>*
HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = OFF*
save the file....@
4) Configure Listener.ora *(Machine 2)*
LISTENER_NEW =
(DESCRIPTION_LIST =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 192.168.0.175)(PORT = 1525))
SID_LIST_LISTENER_NEW =
(SID_LIST =
(SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME = SQLTEST) *+< Here SQLTEST is DSN NAME >+*
(ORACLE_HOME = G:\oracle 10g\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1)
(PROGRAM = hsodbc))
(SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
(ORACLE_HOME = G:\oracle 10g\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1)
(PROGRAM = extproc) )
:> lsnrctl start LISTENER_NEW
5) Configure tnsname.ora *(Machine 2)*
SQLTEST11 =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 192.168.0.175)(PORT = 1525))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVER = DEDICATED)
(SERVICE_NAME = SQLTEST))
(HS=OK)
:> tnsping SQLTEST11
If No errors then conti….
6) Configure a file *(Machine 1)*
Cd $TNS_ADMIN ($ORACLE_HOME/network/admin)
Create a file
$ vi TEST_abcdbt_ifile.ora
something=
(DESCRIPTION=
(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST =192.168.0.175) (PORT=1525))
(CONNECT_DATA=
(SID=SQLTEST))
(HS=OK)
$ tnsping something
$ sqlplus system/manager
Your connected to Oracle database *(machine 1)*
create database link xyz connect to “sa” identified by “abc@123!” using ‘SOMETHING’;
select * from t@xyz;10 rows selected.
Thanks,

Hi everybody,
I trying to create database link from Oracle 11g to MS Sql and I'm not succesful.
I found tutorial for Oracle 10g, but it does't work.
I created odbc data source, then I modified tnsnames.ora and listener.ora, then I created initkw.ora in HS directory and then I created dabase link, but it does't work.
Can you help me please? Thanks for help ... ondra
Tnsnames.ora:
KW =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = tcp)(HOST = oracle_ip)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = KW)
(HS = OK)
listener.ora:
(SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME = KW)
(ORACLE_HOME = C:\oracle\product\11.1.0\db_1)
(PROGRAM = hsodbc)
initkw.ora
HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = kw
HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = 0
HS_FDS_TRACE_FILE_NAME = kw.trc
create public database link KW connect to "user" identified by "pass" using 'KW';
