Linking external jar when starting java -jar problem

Good day!
A have a little program:
import org.apache.log4j.Logger;
public class CMDClient {
     static Logger log;
     public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception {
          log.info("test");
          System.exit(1);
}I created a test.jar file, containing only this test class. When I start it by java -jar test.jar it cannot find linked (through import) Log4j library. Is there a way to link external jar to "jared" application?

    Does anybody know where this comes from? Is it an incompatibility with Windows 7 x64? I have installed the latest Java SDK for Win64.
    I have another issue consisting in the fact that the Eclipse MJT plug-in is not abel to find any devices in the Java ME SDK 3 folder (see my post in the Eclipse forum [Post in Eclipse MJT forum|http://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php?t=msg&th=156515&start=0&S=6f25cc6925ad7008453ee93ca55525a2]), does this have anything to do with the problem described above?
    Thanks for your help,

    Edit file "C:\Java_ME_platform_SDK_3.0\bin\java", replace the path of x64 jdk by path of x32 jdk.
    For example, my file contains "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_21" and I change to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_21".
    You need have a 32 bits jdk installed. Restart device managar after the change.
    Obs.: This happens because device manager need load a 32 bits DLL. So you need run they with a 32 bits jdk.
    With this method you don't need remove x64 jdk. You can stay with both jdk.

  • Java console doesn't launch when starting Java Web Start app from Firefox

    Updated my Linux desktop from RHEL to Fedora 12 with resultant upgrade of Firefox to 3.5.9 and now when I launch our Java Web Start application, no Java console appears. The Java Control Panel still shows "Show Console" as set. My app uses Java 1.5 which I have installed on my desktop.
    What do I do to properly configure my browser/desktop to support use of the Java console?
    Please help, I need to debug our app!

    1) Though you might try rebooting the machine if any installation/configuration changes have occurred since last boot.
    Also note that many problems with JWS apps. can be sorted be checking the JNLP using JaNeLA.

  • Oracle Web Publisher: NullPointerException when starting Java Applet

    Hi there,
    I'm using Express Server 6.3.4 and Web Publisher 6.3.2 and have created a very simple web briefing -- just a basic web page to see whether it works.
    Now when browsing the sample page, an applet is loaded and tells me that several Oracle java classes are loaded. But in the end it fails:
    java.lang.NullPointerException at oracle.olap.webAgent.express.Express.execute(Unknown Source) at ....
    Does anybody know any solution?
    Stefan

    Yes, I tried a sample "application" -- the same error. I'm using IE5.5. To locate the "bug", I did the following:
    I saved the generated HTML code (including the applet tag and all parameters) and loaded that "static" page using SUN's appletviewer. After a short error message (something like "Error in xwd_init: you provided extra input '\'") the applet was loaded and displayed properly. So I know that there's neither a classpath problem nor classes are missing.
    Thank you for your help.

  • Common Protectionerror/Allgemeine Schutzverletzung when starting java.exe

    Hi guyz, got a little problem here. I got german win98 on a P4 1,9G, 256 MB RD-RAM, 40G Maxtor HD and an nVidia GeForce4, and this is what happens:
    I'm opening a dos-prompt, enter "java -version" - and windows gives me the message "Allgemeine Schutzverletzung in symcjt.dll" - I formatted the hd-partition of 1000 MB and re-installed windows with just the nVidia-drivers, defragmented the drive an installed the jdk 1.2.2-001, entered the "set path" in the autoexec.bat, restarted the machine, same error. What do u need 2 know else 2 help me? What the hell is wrong with this machine???
    Greetz, Micha

    Symcjit.dll does not recognize the Pentium 4 processor. You need to update the JRE. The current released version is 1.4.0_01.
    It is a known problem. Use "symcjit pentium 4" and search the forums and Google for more information.

  • SP2-1503 when starting sqlplus (privilege problem)

    System: windows 2003 terminal server
    Oracle db: 10gr2
    After i installing the database everything works perfect as administrator user, but when i start sqlplus as a "normal" user without administrator rights, the following error message apears:
    SP2-1503: Oracle aanroepinterface kan niet
    SP2-0152: ORACLE functioneert mogelijk niet
    Please help...

    Hi,
    We had this issue on one of our 11.1.0.6 database running on IBM AIX whereby no oracle user was trying to access the database. We followed the metalink note 417067.1 to resolve it.
    For those who don't have access to metalink, this is the solution from the note that worked for us:
    To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:
    1. Manually change the privileges for the $ORACLE_HOME/oracore/zoneinfo directory and files.
    chmod o+r oracore
    chmod o+r oracore/zoneinfo/timezone.dat
    or just type from $ORACLE_HOME directory:
    2. SQL*Plus should be working now.
    $sqlplus usr/password@dbalias
    See if that helps.

  • Starting Java

    Hi!
    I wrote a Programm in 2 Subdirectories:
    one (dir)
    two (dir)
    I call the first Programm: java one.WhereTheMainClassIs.
    Works perfect. Now I Use classes from the two dir. Works fine.
    But now i want to start the Programm from an other Directory, for example i am in the dir /test/ and the one and two dir is in /prog/
    How can I start the Programm from a various directory?
    Thx for your Help

    Make sure that the dir containing your two directories in your classpath.
    You can either modify the environment variable CLASSPATH or set it manually when starting java -
    java -classpath pathofdirectory one.programone

  • Problem using external jars in my java component

    Hi Guys,
    I just wanted to ask how to properly reference an external jar to a java dc. I already have an external library dc which contains my external jars and also compilation and assembly public parts,  a j2ee library which has the assembly public part of the external jars that is deployed to the server, a java dc which has the compilation public part of the external jar.
    My problem is whenever I trigger a method of the java dc in my webdynpro dc I'm having an exception. weird thing is when I put the whole method from the java dc to the webdnypro dc it functions well. So I'm thinking if the interaction between my java dc and j2ee lib dc has to do with this maybe I'm missing some configuration.
    need your insight on this one.
    Thanks,

    Hi TznHuang,
    Pleaserefer to this blog might helpful for you

    Also please build external DC and then sync sorurces and sync used DC from inactive DC TAB for DC where you have used
    external DC.

  • Session EJB with external jar dependacy problem

    I have a Session EJB that I am having trouble adding to my Creator 2 project. The session bean is developed with netbeans 5.0, ejb2.1, for sjsas 8.2 PE. It has one external jar which is compiled into the ejb jar. When I try to add the session bean to my creator 2 project I get a java.lang.reflect.UndeclaredThrowableException. Creator 2 is not finding one of the Exception external jar.
    The only way I have been successful in added the session EJB is also add the external jar. But the project fails when you load the page with javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: No object bound to the name java: xxxxxx I believe the EJB is failing at instantiation.
    Has anyone had this problem and overcome it?
    Thanks,
    Francis

    Finally I found solution.
    Instead of deploying ejb jar to ear I've created a new ear deployment profile (so now I have ejb jar profile and ear profile).
    It contains ejb jar + external jar library and custom manifest.mf with class-path to ext. jar.
    Difference between this and previous version is the old one ear cointained ejb jar and the ejb jar contained ext. jar.
    Now ear contains both ejb jar and ext. jar.

    I have developed my Java application using Tomcat Server & Eclipse. In my application I have used some External JARs & imported the classes in my JSP.
    Now that I'm using OC4J Server instead of Tomcat I'v no clue as to where I have copy these External JARs for my application to work.
    I have installed OBIEE-Client which includes OC4J server. The path where I have placed my application is as below
    *"C:\OracleBI\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\default-web-app"*
    If I run my application the server does not import the classes in the JSP which we include using Import statement using JSP tags (*ex* - <%@ page import = "org.apache.commons.fileupload.*"%>).
    This is the location which I found, where I need to put my Java-J2EE application. This OC4J_BI comes with OBIEE.
    Kindly help me out on where to place these External JARs exact location in OC4J.
    Also let me know if I have to alter any configuration/xml file (if so pls specify the file name & its location).
    Thanks in advance,
    Venky

    You can either include the external libraries in the application, by placing them into WEB-INF/lib, or you can import them into the server as "shared libraries", normally you'd use the "enterprise manager" application to do this. Having loaded a shared library you then add it to the classpath when you're deploying the application.

  • How to fix forgetting previously opened tabs when starting Firefox by clicking on a link in an external application?

    Hello, I have the option Startup: "Show my windows and tabs from last time" enabled. Works fine, except when Firefox starts when I click a link in an external application (typically Thunderbird). Then, the new link gets opened in a new tab, Firefox remembers the number of tabs I had opened when I last closed it, but all the "old" tabs are blank. Can I somehow fix this behavior?
    Disabling add-ons does not help. Clicking on a link in an external application when Firefox is already opened works OK. I have been using Firefox for quite a short time now (probably half a year) and this problem was always there (i.e. it is not due to a new update).
    Thank you.

    If Firefox is closed and an external link opens Firefox, you need to go to History > Recently Closed Tabs and open those tabs before closing Firefox. If you don't the "previous session" will be gone and only the one page that the external program opened will be the new "previous session".
    If that isn't satisfactory, you'll need to install a "session manager" type extension to remember more than "the last session" only.

  • Problem using Jar to include external jars in an application

    Ok so, I've just completed a project, and i want to be able to jar it up so its executable by just using the jar file. I can do this, and it will load the first screen. However, i used eclipse to develop it so I just added two files to the eclipse path and it all worked. But when I jar up my application (and include the two external jars in my app), and try to use any class that needs the external jar, it dies and says java.lang.NoClassDefinitionError: javax/servlet/http/HttpServlet
    How do i set it up so it actually finds the classes in the external jar?? Its fairly important that i get this to work :)

    If this app is not running as part of Tomcat, you have two options. One, as ejp pointed out, is to put the missing jars into your $JAVA_HOME/lib/ext dir. If you've already tried that and it's not working, then the jars your putting there do not have the necessary classes in them. Use 'jar -tf <jarname>' to see a list of the classes in the jar.
    The second approach, which it sounds like you've already tried, is using the Class-Path entry in the Manifest file. You must make sure that the jar you're referencing (servlet.jar) has the missing classes in it, and that the jar is in the same directory as the application jar. Another potential gotcha with this approach is to make sure that the jar is not indexed (they're not indexed by default).

  • Getting error while calling external Jars in BPEL by using Java embedding activity in soa 12c

    Hi,
    I am trying to use an external Jars for the business logic implementation. Here I need to pass XML as input and
    and I expect the "Password " field has to be return.
    Following are the steps I have followed:
    1) Created a java project with sample class and added the external jars into the project "Libraries &Classpath".
    2) Created a jar file out of it.
    3) Created a BPEL project with Java Embedding.
    4)Wrote the java code in java embedding activity.
    4) Added the above created jar file to the BPEL project's lib/jar  and added in SCA-INF/lib project folder as well.
    5) Imported the package with the class as in the jar (e.g <bpelx:exec
    import="pkg.testInterface"/>)
    6) Deploy the BPEL project.
    while deploying the SOA build is sucessful but my depoyment is incomplete.
    error:
    advices will be great....
    Regards,
    Dilip

    Hi,
    Can you confirm if the BPEL Version is 1.1 or 2.0.
    If you are using BPEL 2.0 you need to import the required jar/class file as:
    <import importtype="http://schemas.oracle.com/bpel/extension/java" location="pkg.testInterface"/>
    For BPEL 1.1 the syntax to import other jar/class file is:
    <bpelx:exec import="pkg.testInterface"/>
    If you import the classes in the correct format you will not face any deployment error.
