Session EJB with external jar dependacy problem

I have a Session EJB that I am having trouble adding to my Creator 2 project. The session bean is developed with netbeans 5.0, ejb2.1, for sjsas 8.2 PE. It has one external jar which is compiled into the ejb jar. When I try to add the session bean to my creator 2 project I get a java.lang.reflect.UndeclaredThrowableException. Creator 2 is not finding one of the Exception external jar.
The only way I have been successful in added the session EJB is also add the external jar. But the project fails when you load the page with javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: No object bound to the name java: xxxxxx I believe the EJB is failing at instantiation.
Has anyone had this problem and overcome it?
Thanks,
Francis

Finally I found solution.
Instead of deploying ejb jar to ear I've created a new ear deployment profile (so now I have ejb jar profile and ear profile).
It contains ejb jar + external jar library and custom manifest.mf with class-path to ext. jar.
Difference between this and previous version is the old one ear cointained ejb jar and the ejb jar contained ext. jar.
Now ear contains both ejb jar and ext. jar.

  • Migrating prject with external jars from 10g to 11g

    Hi..
    I am migrating a project which is using external jar files. I have included jar files in sca-inf/lib folder as well as on server directory. But i am getting error that the particular class in jar cannot be intialized. Error is given below:-
    Could not initialize class com.ge.realestate.ea.framework.util.FrameworkXMLUtils;

    Thanks for replying...
    I have already followed all the steps in that document. But i am unable to access classes in the jars included in the project. May be I have to recompile all the jars in 11g with ant. Because I am able to access only those classes which are not importing any classes. The imports used in the specific class are given below:-
    import java.io.BufferedReader;
    import java.io.FileReader;
    import java.io.StringWriter;
    import java.util.ArrayList;
    import java.util.Iterator;
    import java.util.List;
    import oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLLSSerializer;
    import org.apache.log4j.Logger;
    import org.w3c.dom.Attr;
    import org.w3c.dom.Element;
    import org.w3c.dom.NamedNodeMap;
    import org.w3c.dom.Node;
    import org.w3c.dom.NodeList;
    import com.collaxa.xml.XMLHelper;
    import com.oracle.bpel.client.BPELFault;
    I am not sure if importing one of these is causing the problem.

  • Compiling with external JARs using Eclipse

    I've spent 3 days on this and I still don't seem to be any nearer solving the problem. I am using a couple of external JAR files within my project and everything is working fine within the IDE, it's when I come to compile my own JAR that I'm having problems. I've tried created my JAR by choosing file->export, but it doesn't seem to pull in the external JARs. My class paths must be correct as I can run it within the IDE, but I'm missing something.
    Next I discovered ANT and had a play with that. After some toil I got it to generate a JAR, but it has two problems. 1. The manifest file cannot be found, but let's forget about that for now, as I haven't really looked into it. 2. The generated JAR is only 250Kb, when (if the external JARs are packaged with it) it should be closer to 5Mb. Again I've set my class paths in the External Tools dialog, but still nothing.
    Could someone please try and point me in the right direction. I've even spent a couple of hours at Borders reading up on ANT and Eclipse, that where my ANT script came from, but it hasn't got me the result I need. If it's any help my build.xml is below
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding = "UTF-8"?>
    <project name="C_G" default="Main Build" basedir=".">
        <property name="bin" location="bin"/>
        <property name="src" location="."/>
        <property name="jardir" location="${bin}/lib"/>
        <property name="jarfile" location="${jardir}/c_g.jar"/>
        <property name="build.compiler"
        value="org.eclipse.jdt.core.JDTCompilerAdapter"/>
        <target name="Main Build" depends="Initialize, Compile, Jar">
            <echo message="Ant Building"/>
        </target>
        <target name="Initialize">
            <delete dir="${bin}"/>
            <delete dir="${jardir}"/>
            <mkdir dir="${bin}"/>
            <mkdir dir="${jardir}"/>
        </target>
        <target name="Compile" depends="Initialize">
            <javac srcdir="${src}"
                destdir="${bin}">
            </javac>
        </target>
        <target name="Jar" depends="Initialize, Compile">
            <jar destfile="${jarfile}" basedir="${bin}"/>
        </target>
    </project>

    Damn it, so I do have to tackle the 'manifest not
    found problem' first then. I would have though
    Eclipse would have made a better job at making the
    manifest file.All I can say: RTFM. This is not an Eclipse support forum. Maybe it does, and you use some incorrect settings.
    I just placed it into the root of the JAR, but when I
    run it can't find itIt doesn't belong there. It goes into a directory named META-INF

  • Invoking Session EJB (with WSIF binding) from a BPEL process

    Hi,
    I am invoking a stateless session bean from a bpel process. The bpel process is throwing:
    Failed to lookup EJB home using JNDI name 'ejb/visilient/BPELHelper'; nested exception is:
         java.lang.NullPointerException
    I can see the ejb jndi name under 'default' app.
    Any ideas?
    TIA

    It is a lovely sample... However, it doesn't cover Complex Types and Exception handling. It would be nice if each example was thorough. Would be a great help.
    What I was hoping to achieve is this:
    1) Have an EJB deployed
    2) Use WSIF for BPEL Processes.
    3) Use Web Service interface for AJAX calls etc.
    I was hoping that this would be the exact code base and that only a single EJB would be deployed.
    So far, it looks like JDeveloper will only support Java WSIF bindings. No EJB Bindings. It also looks like JAXRPC is the best supported WS interface. With that in mind, it deploys a seperate subset of the EJB. Thus causing two seperate deployments. I am working on trying all this out over the next couple days. See where I get.
    Anyways, do you have any recommendation for accomplishing what I am wanting to do? 1 deployed EJB, with a WS interface and allowing WSIF bindings. Any other references for me to look at? Should I not be thinking about using JDeveloper for any of the WSDL generation and do all this manually for now?
    Thanks,
    BradW

  • Build problem with external JAR

    Hello,
    I am developing a custom web dynpro component. I need to use some of the JARs delivered by SAP such as com.sap.security.api (can be found in \SAP\IDE\IDE70\eclipse\plugins). I have included the JAR files to my project in Properties->Java Build path->Libraries). Everything is working fine: I can build/deploy the application and it is running fine in the application server.
    Anyhow, the problem comes when I try to activate my activity in the development configuration perspective.
    In the build log I can see for example the following:
    [javac] ERROR: /usr/sap/VDD/JC10/j2ee/cluster/server0/temp/CBS/3/.B/4789/t/067D33924E6154CA5284F16652954F88/gen_wdp/packages/com/mydevelopment/mystuff/MyComponent.java:29: package com.sap.security.api does not exist
         [javac] ERROR: import com.sap.security.api.IUser;
    I have been reading several threads about similar issues, but I am not quite satisfied with the answers. There seems to be several opinions about how to solve this.
    Now the questions are:
    - How can I get rid of this error?
    - What is the best practice in overall to use the SAP delivered JARs in custom web dynpro component/project.

    Hi Pa,
    To use any jar in your DC  on NWDI track, you need to follow the following steps:
    1. Go to Your project>Used DCs and try to add a new one by locating the DC among those which are already present on the track.
    2. If you are not able to locate any DC with the required jars then,
    a. Create an external library DC where you need to add all the jars in the library folder of the project using an activity.
    b. Create public parts for compile time and run time for this dc.
    c. Deploy the DC.
    d. Goto src folder of your dc and say Add files to DTR (your jars would be on the track)
    e. Deploy the external library DC so that the Jars are deployed on the portal server.
    f. Add the public parts of this External Library DC under used DCs of your development component.
    g. Add this external library under library references of your project.
    h. Build and deploy.
    i.  Now try activating your activity.
    Use the following link to know how to execute these steps.
    [Add and Use Jars through used DCs|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/46/3ce3e4df201d63e10000000a11466f/frameset.htm]

    Class-Path: my.jar

  • Totally fed up with external hard drive problem

    I purchased a 500 gb USB Mybook drive a week ago, and all it did was freeze up my mac. So everyone said to get a firewire one instead. So i got the firewire version, and it does the same thing. Immediately when it's plugged in, I get the spinning disk forever.
    If I start up with it plugged in, after the login, it freezes. I called their tech support, and they have no idea either. Wonderful. I've tried every fire wire and usb port on the mac, with no discernable results.
    Please help before I throw it through a window!

    Not far from you is a dealer in Mac Firewire hard drives which should work. http://www.macsales.com/
    If those don't work, then you know you have a hardware problem. Your machine may be old enough to have its clock battery replaced which can affect the ability of access to the ports. The clock battery is a 3.6V 1/2 AA lithium you can get from Radio Shack as catalog item 23-026.
    If after making sure you have a current clock battery (one under 3 years old), it still doesn't work, try zapping the PRAM:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238
    And resetting the Firewire ports:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=88338
    And if you are still stuck, it suggests a truly bad hardware problem, most likely in the power supply or logicboard controller.

  • Passing complex XML to session EJB with automatic WSIF mapping

    Per Re: invoking ejb using wsif
    it looks like WSIF can pass DOM to EJB. Can anyone point me to an example using WSIF to pass a complex document to EJB uin the form of DOM, String or JAX-RPC?

    We found couple of solutions for passing DOM to EJB :
    1. you can create a facade java object and pass the facade to the ejb layer as a value object
    2. you can extract the element for that anyType and pass that dom element to the ejb layer.
    We will plan to add some samples around this.
    HTH.

  • Weblogic-ejb-jar.xml for a Session EJB

    The weblogic-ejb-jar.xml generated for a Session EJB with local interfaces has a jndi-name element instead of local-jndi-name.
    1. Create a Session EJB.
    Select Include Local Interfaces.
    2. In the META-INF directory select New>General>Deployment Descriptors>weblogic-ejb-jar.xml
    The deployment descriptor generated has a jndi-name element.
    For a Session EJB with local interfaces the element should be local-jndi-name.
    thanks,

    weblogic-ejb-jar.xml jndi-name (instead of local-jndi-name) is with JDeveloper version 10.1.2 & 10.1.3

  • Invalid username/password connecting to deployed session EJB (to OAS)

    Hello,
    OAS version : 9.0.4.0.0
    JDeveloper version : 10.1.2.0.0 (Build 1811)
    I have generated a very simple session EJB with the EJB
    Diagram : business logic is only a method returning a
    "hello world" String (no DB connection).
    Next i have generated a "New Sample Java Client" to test
    that, first connecting to the Embedded OC4J and it worked
    very well.
    Then i wanted to deploy this small example to my OAS
    server, so i created a new session EJB deployment profile.
    Deployment worked very well too.
    To test this, i generated another "New Sample Java
    Client", but that time i choosed "Connect to Remote App
    Server", with adequate J2EE application and App Server
    Connection names.
    I took note of the new context lines. Login/password
    strings were automatically filled with the ones i use to
    connect to OEM Website (lets say the_login/the_password).
    But unfortunately, when i launch the client, it doesn't
    work. Here is the error stack :

    Do you know what i can do to solve this problem ?
    I saw several posts on this forum about that problem,
    mostly in 2003, so perhaps it has been solved now.
    I tried the solutions and workarounds mentioned in those
    post, but the error is still there...
    Thank you for your help ! :-)

    When you are connecting through a hotels WiFi like this they may occasionally require you to login via a home web page, this is quite normal. In many cases the password for this will be provided at checkin and with this being the case it would be worth speaking with the front desk to see if they can assist you with this.

  • Servicegen for stateless session EJB

    I've run into some minor trouble when I tried to generate
    web services for some stateless session EJBs with the
    servicegen Ant method. Note that expandMethods has been
    set to True. It appears that the generated web-services.xml
    file contains methods from the EJB's remote interface. When
    deploying the web service WLS will use the locale interface.
    If the remote interface has methods not found in the local
    interface WLS will refuse to deploy the web service. No big
    deal, since I could just add the missing methods to the
    local interface. But still, I think this is somewhat odd
    and inconsistent behavior. Is there anyway to get WLS to
    deploy the web services against the remote interfaces, or
    is this just a bad idea?
    /Björn

    Further information:
    According to metalink bug 3224465, this was a bug fixed in release 9.0.2.3.99 of the App Server. However, I am using 9.0.3.1 and still have the problem....

  • Deploying Session EJB From Jdev9i(Beta) - OC4J 9i

    Hi All ,
    I wanted from u , i have recently Upgraded to Oracle 9i 1.0.2.2.1 (OC4J) . Now i want a simple Step wise process as how can i deploy my Ejb (Session Bean ) into the OC4J container and Use its DataSource .
    Is it possible to deploy using Jdev 9i (Beta) .
    Can any one please help me out to point to a Documentaion , give me a breif process .
    Regards
    Asif

    Asif -
    Yes you can use Jdeveloper 9i beta to deploy your session ejb.
    Step 1 should be setting up your Data Source. In the System
    Navigator Panel expand the "Connections" listing. Right-click
    on "Database" and select "New Connection..." - follow the
    wizard's instructions to set up your data source. Step 2 should
    be setting up a connection to the OC4J container - again on the
    System Navigator Panel ->Connections->Application Servers -
    follow the instructions there. I am assuming that you have
    developed your session ejb using Jdeveloper, right click on
    your .jpr entry (or wherever suits you) and choose "New..." then
    Deployment Profiles. You need to package your session ejb into a
    jar file and I would recommend packaging your jar file into an
    ear file (it really helps for clean deployment). If you have a
    web portion, package that and make it dependent on the jar file
    just to keep it straight. Once you have these, you will be able
    to right click on the jar or web file and deploy to an ear file,
    or straight to the server. If this is what you are looking for,
    you will then just select this and away you go.
    Apparently there are some howtos here:
    http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/jdev/howto.html
    although I don't know how good they are.
    I wasn't quite sure what you were looking for so this post is
    vague. If you have specific questions, let me know and I will
    try and answer them!
    Cheers
    Ray
