Linking Java to MSExcel (URGENT!!!)

thanks for the links given. I am using ODBC but i am having difficulties with running of the query. The code is as follows. I have already created a connection and I am trying to insert the values from these methods:
a) Auctioneer.getWinAgent(i)
b) Auctioneer.getSuccessRates(i)
c) Auctioneer.getAvgPrice(i)
into three columns in an Excel file.
it gives these error:Syntax error in INSERT statement.
try{
stmt = connect.createStatement();
for(int i = 0; i < Auctioneer.getAgentSize(); i++){
stmt.executeUpdate("INSERT INTO [auctionOutput$] VALUES" + Auctioneer.getWinAgent(i)+ Auctioneer.getSuccessRates(i)+Auctioneer.getAvgPrice(i));
stmt.close();
connect.close();
}catch (SQLException ex){
ex.printStackTrace();

Try this out, this should work,
"insert into some_table values ('" + Auctioneer.getWinAgent(i) + "', '" + Auctioneer.getSuccessRates(i) + "', '" + Auctioneer.getAvgPrice(i)) + "')";
Please use the single quotes and double quotes as used
herein the example.
Thank,s

  • Advice please: how to link java client with oracle AS

    Dear Sirs...
    how can i link java swing application with oracle application server? do i have to develop web service and then deploy it on the AS? or i should use another methodology? what exactly should i provide or should i use?
    thanks for any help
    best regards

    There are a number of approaches you can take. A webservice would work well. You may also consider using EJBs and calling them via RMI or a webservice.
    Either is a viable option depending on your requirements.

  • Linking Java to Access Database tables

    Hello,
    I need use JCreator to link Java to Access Database tables.
    Could any one tell me what kind of drivers I need use?
    Also, where could I find the examples of linking Java to Access Database tables?
    Thank you,
    Daniel

    Thanks.
    I have read the tutorial and downloaded the sample code from the web http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/jdbc/
    In the CreateCoffee.java programming, I made the following changes:
         //     String url = "jdbc:mySubprotocol:myDataSource";
              String url = "jdbc:odbc:DB1";
    DB1 is an Access Database file located in the same folder as CreateCoffee.java.
    //Class.forName("myDriver.ClassName");
                   Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    Every time when I run the CreateCoffee.java programming, it shows the following running error:
    SQLException:[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager]
    Data source name not found and no default driver specified.
    Could any one have any suggestions for solving the above problem?
    Thank you,
    Daniel

  • How to pass parameters to a page invoked using java script.--- Very Urgent.

    Hello,
    I have an advanced Table in my page. In the first column there is a
    messageChoice. In the second column there is link item.On the link item i have set the following value for destination uri.
    javascript:var a=window.open('OA.jsp?page=/AutoSales/oracle/apps/per/auto/webui/AutoSurrogatesPG&retainAM=Y','a','height=500,width=900,status=yes,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resizable=yes,scrollbar=yes'); a.focus();
    The user selects a value from the message choice and when he clicks on the link item, the value selected from the list should go to the new page invoked using java script as a parameter. I need the value selected from choice to generates few fields in the new page. I have preferred java script because i need the base page and a model window should open. I have tried using setForwardUrl() and setting '_blank' and new window for target frame property on the link item. But it isnt working. The new page is opening in the same window.
    I have also tried putting the value in a session.
    Please help with any kind of suggestions or solutions.
    Thank you.

    Uma,
    You need to
    - Have a PPR Action on the messageChoice (this would trigger a form submit to populate the underlying View Attribute)
    - Either
    - Retrive the value from the View Attribute in the pop-up page (as I could see that you are retaining the AM)
    - Use a SPEL in the link (on the modal page) to use the value from the View Attribute as the parameter value (in the form ${oa.current.<ViewAttributeName>)

  • Excel from JAVA or C++ --  Urgent -- help

    Hi
    I know it might not be possible, but i want to use couple of Financial Functions which excel provides within itself.
    Is there anyway i can use them from my JAVA or C++ code ?
    In short, would it be possible to call excel functions from JAVA or C++ code
    TIA
    Vikram

    Actually you can... In quite a few different ways. You can access any COM or OLE object in windows from within java by using the Java/COm bridge, or purchasing shrink wrapped products... The links are below:
    These people provide some very cool solutions for java. This link is specifically for excel.

  • Java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError - Urgent please help

    Hi,
    I want to thank you for looking into this problem first.
    I have a very headache problem for the past week. I have an applet that uses JNI to call an existing dll to get the system resources. It works fine on windows 2000 server with IE 5.0. The dll get loaded fine and the function call is working fine.
    However, now I tried to move the applet to an application for me to test with jbuilder, I have problems and I get the error java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: ooInit.
    Does anyone know why this is happening in Jbuilder. I traced to see if the dll get loaded with System.loadlibrary("dll"), and it seems to load the library. But when I call the ooInit() native method, it throws that exception.
    Please help. This will be greatly appreciated and I can do something for you guys in return.
    Thank you so much.
    Regards,
    guna

    Here, for the benefit of others who might search for this, is my approach to resolving this error.
    Two things to note:
    1. I didn't worry about paths, etc. - I was in a hurry so I just copied files into required directories.
    2. I named both the Java and C files "mainFrame". I have not subsequently checked to see if this is required, since it worked for me.
    Summary of getting jni routine to work with Jbuilder:
    created Java project mintest, two principle classes - mainFrame and WelcomeFrame
    key code fragments:
    --------------------------------------- mainFrame --------------------------------------------------
    package mintest;
    import javax.swing.JLabel;
    import javax.swing.JButton;
    import javax.swing.JPanel;
    import java.awt.GridBagLayout;
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.event.MouseEvent;
    import java.awt.event.MouseAdapter;
    public class mainFrame {
        boolean packFrame = false;
        WelcomeFrame frame = new WelcomeFrame();
        public static native int cRoutine(int value);
        static {System.loadLibrary("mainFrame"); }
    public mainFrame() {
        //Pack frames that have useful preferred size info, e.g. from their layout
        //Validate frames that have preset sizes
        if (packFrame) {
          frame.pack();
        else {
          frame.validate();
        // Center the frame
        Dimension screenSize = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize();
        Dimension frameSize = frame.getSize();
        if (frameSize.height > screenSize.height) {
          frameSize.height = screenSize.height;
        if (frameSize.width > screenSize.width) {
          frameSize.width = screenSize.width;
        frame.setLocation( (screenSize.width - frameSize.width) / 2,
                          (screenSize.height - frameSize.height) / 2);
        frame.setVisible(true);
        try {
          jbInit();
        catch (Exception ex) {
          ex.printStackTrace();
    * Main method
    * @param args String[]
    static public void main(String[] args) {
      try {
        UIManager.setLookAndFeel(UIManager.getSystemLookAndFeelClassName());
      catch (Exception e) {
        e.printStackTrace();
      new mainFrame();
            cRoutine(1);     // this works at this point...
            System.out.println("cRoutine - should be 4: " + cRoutine(3));
      private void jbInit() throws Exception {
    }--------------------------------------- end of mainFrame --------------------------------------------------
    --------------------------------------- (portions of) WelcomeFrame --------------------------------------
    package mintest;
    import java.awt.*;
    ..... more imports, setting up of window, buttons, etc. .... iValue is an integer....
      public void jToggleButton1_mousePressed(MouseEvent e) {
          jToggleButton1.setText("cRoutine in: " + iValue + "  out: " + (iValue =
                                   mainFrame.cRoutine(iValue)));
      }--------------------------------------- end of (portions of) WelcomeFrame -----------------------------
    mainFrame was compiled with Jbuilder into a class file, makeFrame.class. That was copied into
    the C:\Borland\JBuilder2005\jdk1.4\bin directory, and javah was run to create the C header file:
    javah -jni mainFrame
    This generated:
    --------------------------------------- mainFrame.h generated by javah ----------------------------------
    /* DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE - it is machine generated */
    #include <jni.h>
    /* Header for class mainFrame */
    #ifndef _Included_mainFrame
    #define _Included_mainFrame
    #ifdef __cplusplus
    extern "C" {
    #endif
    * Class:     mainFrame
    * Method:    cRoutine
    * Signature: (I)I
    JNIEXPORT jint JNICALL Java_mainFrame_cRoutine
      (JNIEnv *, jclass, jint);
    #ifdef __cplusplus
    #endif
    #endif--------------------------------------- end of mainFrame.h generated by javah -------------------------
    OKAY, HERE COMES THE CRITICAL STEP. DESPITE THE FACT THE COMMENT SAYS DO NOT EDIT, THIS FILE HAS TO BE EDITED TO INCLUDE THE PACKAGE NAME, LIKE THIS:
    --------------------------------------- modified mainFrame.h ----------------------------------
    /* DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE - it is machine generated */
    #include <jni.h>
    /* Header for class mainFrame */
    #ifndef _Included_mainFrame
    #define _Included_mainFrame
    #ifdef __cplusplus
    extern "C" {
    #endif
    * Class:     mainFrame
    * Method:    cRoutine
    * Signature: (I)I
    JNIEXPORT jint JNICALL Java_mintest_mainFrame_cRoutine
      (JNIEnv *, jclass, jint);
    #ifdef __cplusplus
    #endif
    #endif--------------------------------------- end of modified mainFrame.h -------------------------
    This file is then copied to the C:\Borland\BCC55\Include directory. The C code source is placed
    in the C:\Borland\BCC55\Bin directory. Here is the C code - note that it has the package name in
    the function name:
    --------------------------------------- mainFrame.c ----------------------------------
    #include <mainFrame.h>
    #include <stdio.h>
    #include <string.h>
    /* must link gpib-32.obj for Windows*/
    #include <windows.h> /*if using Windows */
    void main(){
    JNIEXPORT jint JNICALL
    Java_mintest_mainFrame_cRoutine(JNIEnv *env, jobject callingObj,jint invalue)
    return (jint) invalue+1;
    }--------------------------------------- end of mainFrame.c -------------------------
    This is now compiled on the command line (from the C:\Borland\BCC55\Bin directory) using:
    bcc32 -tWD -I\Borland\bcc55\include -L\Borland\bcc55\lib mainFrame.c
    Parameters: -tWD creates Windows DLL file
    -I is path to include directory (this is where mainFrame.h is located)
    -L is path to library directory
    Compilation produces mainFrame.dll in the C:\Borland\BCC55\Bin directory. This is copied to the C:\Borland\JBuilder2005\jdk1.4\jre\bin directory so Jbuilder can find it. Then it works.
    So, the key step is adding the package name after javah has generated the header file (and similarly using the package name in the .c source file.)
    Hope this is useful.

  • Linking Java Api

    I wish to make my java documentation linked to the java 1.5.0 documentation.
    I am using Javadoc 1.5.0 I also use IE6.0
    The command line has this option:
    -link http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api
    This should make the Java Classes linked by reference to my javadocs for my code.
    When I click on one of these links I get an error: "Permision Denied..<the url of the Java Api Class Doc>" followed by a "access denied.. <the url of the Java Api Class Doc>"
    Looks like there is some javascript or something preventing this from functioning properly. I put http://java.sun.com/ in my trusted sites list. Lowered security to a min. No effect.
    I searched for a post on the forum like this. There doesn't appear to be one. If there is a post, I apologize in advance. Hopefully someone can help me.

    You may want to check your show() calls and see if
    they can be replaced with setVisible(). Forexample,
    in your Vowelm code, you have a static JFrame v.
    At
    the end of your main function, you use v.show().As
    of JDK1.1, this has been deprecated in favour of
    setVisible(boolean).hey show() in JFrame is from Window and in windowits
    not deprecated ..
    show is not decrecated thats for sure ... i dontknow
    y you said that ...
    you can look in docs as well..
    True - but this in turn overrides show() from
    java.awt.Component, which has been deprecated. My
    guess is that's where the problem comes from.
    Thanks for the Dukes!
    FlicAnd then again - perhaps not. After looking into this a bit more, I take back my last comment about the Component override. However, as I said in my original reply, compiling with -deprecation should tell you which show() call is flagging the error. There is definitely one somewhere that the JVM doesn't like - without seeing your complete code, it's hard to say exactly where. Based on what you've posted, my guess is that it is within the Vowelm class.
    Next time, I'll try to avoid 'shooting from the hip'.
    Again, thanks for the Dukes,
    Flic

  • Linking java programs to spreadsheets

    I am trying to write a program that accepts numeric input and generates four different sets of numeric data. I want to link the program to Microsoft Excel so that as the program generates the numbers, it automatically populates the cells of an Excel spreadsheet. Also I want the program and the spreadsheet to be linked in such a way that changes in the values generated in the source program due to changes in input, are reflected in the cells of the spreadsheet.
    I am using the jdk1.1.1 on a Windows 98 machine.

    JIntegra also provide a COM-Java bridge that will allow you to do something like this.
    I didn't find that any COM bridges were very successful in the end, though, since there didn't seem to be a means of differentiating between various instances of Excel that might be open (Office assumes that the first instance should always be used). For simple applications a COM bridge should prove alright, though.

  • Convert java to xml -urgent

    hi,
    I'm currently doing a project which requires me to generate a svg scatterplot graph. I already got data stored in vector.(in a servlet).But heard from my supervisor that i need to convert my data to xml format.With this xml format, i can generate a svg graph.I'm totally new to xml n don't know how to convert from java to xml..Though i read up on articles, i still can't get the idea of it. My data isnt very big. for graph i need to generate a x-axis :green , y-axis:red... n then retrieve the data n plot the scatterplot graph... can somebody help me??? very urgent... thanks

    One quick way is to construct the XML your self.
    e.g.
    StringBuffer xml = new StringBuffer("<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>");
    xml.append("<ROOT>");
    while(has more elements) {
    xml.append("<ELEMENT>").append(data).append("</ELEMENT>");
    xml.append("</ROOT>");

    I had a similar issue, the reason for that was picking the incorrect partner link.
    Make sure the name of the selected partner link in the invoke output variable is matching with the Assign, in you case lets say you mapped the
    Invoke
    output variable is invoke_1_CallStoredProcedure_OutputVariable ( not nvoke_1_CallStoredProcedure_OutputVariable_1)
    From
    <Invoke_1_CallStoredProcedure_OutputVariable>
    <LF_STATUS>
    To
    P_lf_status ( variable)
    most of the time multiple variables are created when we try to select the output variable s in the Invoke.

         I am using Websphere 3.5 on Windows NT.
         can somebody please help me what is going wrong here ???I am stopped at
         this problem for last 2 days.
    Thanks
    Jack

    Hi,
    Finally I was able to resolve after adding this jar file to the classfile
    path of the application.
    Now,I am trying to access use linkTable.add(new Item(222,"222","333",12.33)) in JSP.
    where linkTable is a LinkedList.
    It fails giving following error:
    This is the Error Message from the Exception:
    Server caught unhandled exception from servlet [BaseServlet]: Server caught unhandled exception from servlet : Server caught unhandled exception from servlet [jsp]: Compilation of "softproduct.jsp" failed: d:\ibm\WAServer\temp\default_host\WCSServlets\_jameco_2F_softproduct_2E_jsp_jsp_2.java:824: No constructor matching Item&#40;int, java.lang.String, java.lang.String, double&#41; found in class jack.samples.Item. linkTab.add&#40;new Item&#40;2222,"222","222",22.33&#41;&#41;&#59; ^ Note: d:\ibm\WAServer\temp\default_host\WCSServlets\_jameco_2F_softproduct_2E_jsp_jsp_2.java uses or overrides a deprecated API. Recompile with "-deprecation" for details. 1 error, 1 warning
    I dont understand why it is failing to add Item object to LinkedList.
    can somebody help me in the forum in this regard.
    Thanks

  • Using database link in my triggers,urgent

    There's DB A on ServerA,DB B on ServerB.Table TA in ServerA's DB and TB on ServerB's DB.My purpose is to synchronize usera.TA with userb.TB real time.
    In order to realize it,I created dblink AtoB from A to B using command "create database link AtoB.domain connect to userb identified by userb using 'BTNSname';",it's no problem for I have test on it :select count(*) from [email protected];It's ok to get the result.
    But when I create trigger on table TA by using the dblink AtoB.domain to update,delete and insert datas to TB,the error "PLS-00201: identifier '[email protected]' must be declared" occurs while compiling.
    The oracle version on the two servers is 8.1.7.
    It happens on the production envrionment,but in our lab,there's no problem.The difference between them is that it is cluster structure in production one.
    I tried several times,but failed,just wondered if some privilege was not right?But I can do selection from this dblink,only in trigger there's compilation errors.
    Really hope that someone could give light on it.
    Thank you in advance!
    In addition,I did some modification in my triggers to have a try.
    I created a synonym for the remote table,and the trigger then updates the synonym instead of the remote table [email protected] .But also failed.
    The same error,saying the synonym is not declared.
    Any good way to realize the same thing?

    Thank you for your answering first.
    I don't use replication because the destination table's structure is not exactly the same as the source one.
    --The selection was done in the production,connection to the source schema,then select through the dblink from the source to the dest schema,the trigger is created in source schema on source table to handle datas in destination schema's table.In lab,all is ok,no such a problem.
    --I created two dblinks,one is connect to source as system user,created a public dblink "create public database link AtoB.domain using 'BTNSname';";the other is connect as UserA,"create database link AtoB.domain connect to UserB identified by UserB using 'BTNSname';".

  • How to Invoke Extensions in Java Concurrent Programs - Urgent

    hi all,
    can any one help me in understanding how to invoke Extensions (attached to Rules) in Java Concurrent Programs (part of autoconfig)
    it is migration task from FC to Extensions
    Please suggest
    thanks,
    Srikanth

    if you want to invoke the rule, that triggers the Extension, create a rule which invoke the rule, like "ALWAYS TRUE" REQ Extension. Then as soon as the Model in instaniated, the Extension will be executed.
