• Send mail with link that will open in new window.

hi,
i wrote a send mail class which sends a link with text/plain.
i want to open the link in a new page when the user clicks on it.
i don't want to use html, only text/plain.
can any one help?

You can either send a text/plain e-mail with just the URL, in which case it's up to the mailreader what it does when you click on the link, or you can send a text/html e-mail with URL, and again it's up to the mailreader whether to treat this properly or not.

• I work on two screens. With the new updates, my computer will not automatically open a new window on the second screen.

I work on two screens. With the new updates we cannot automatically open a new window on the second screen, but have to move them over manually. Not a huge problem, but because of the nature of the work, it gets tedious.

Hi Annowriter,
Thank you for your question, I understand that it is annoying to have to move a new window to the second screen. Since it opens in the active screen this may have been a stored preference, however it is not the default.
There is an add on called Monitor Master that customizes settings like this. Check it out.

• Why the links are still opened in new windows?

Why the links are still opened in new windows even I selected the option to open in tabs?
This is one of the web I am reading (sorry that it is in simplified Chinese), I have no problems reading it in tabs in Firefox:
http://www.sodu.com.cn/mulu_30498.html

Hi,
How are you trying to open the windows? Safari does not default to opening new windows in tabs. It can open +external application+ links (e.g. from your email program, RSS viewer, etc) in a new tab, but not links from an existing website.
To open links in a new tab, you'll need to hold the ctrl key and click the link, or use the middle-mouse button if your mouse has one (or right-click on the link and choose to open it in a new tab).

• Whenever I open a new window of firefox a new tab opens with the new window. How do I get it to stop doing that?

Whenever I open a new window of Firefox, the new window opens at the hope page (like I want it to), but then a tab opens up with the new window. I want Firefox to stop doing this. When I open a new window I just want the window to open. I don't know how to fix this as I have know idea how I made this happen. This first happened when I hit control + N to open a new window, but I didn't hit the "N" cleanly. I pressed one of the other keys around the "N" and this issue started.

Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

• When I try to open a new window in Firefox, I get an error message

When I try to open a new window in Firefox, I get the following error message:
"Not Found
The requested URL /en-US/firefox was not found on this server."
...but other websites, such as Google or CNN.com, work just fine.
I'm running Firefox 3.6.28 on my MacBook Pro, with OS 10.4.11. I can't update to the latest version of Firefox unless I update my OS, which would be costly and also involve increasing my RAM.
But the Firefox homepage worked fine until this morning. Is this likely to be a temporary glitch? If not, how can I fix it?
Thanks,
Emmy

At least at the moment, the default Firefox homepage is back! So maybe this was a momentary glitch. But see below.
BTW, here's the URL for the page:
http://start.mozilla.org/en-US/?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official
But, the "Mozilla Firefox Start Page" currently lacks a menu bar at the top with various Google options such as "Gmail," "more," etc. I found these very useful.
I'm wondering -- did Google tell Mozilla to stop including those links on its start page? Maybe Google wants us all to switch to having Google as our default homepage. Or is the lack of a menu bar just another temporary glitch?

• I am forced into facebook when I open a new window in firefox

When I press the + sign to open a new window in firefox the new window opens with a facebook registration scheme. I do not use facebook and have no intention to use it, so I do not want this page. This started with the new upgrade a few days ago. At the same time I also got problems with other things in firefox.
Does anyone know how I can get rid of the facebook registry page?

Hi tomab,
By default Firefox opens a blank tab when you hit the tab button. The fact that is shows an actual page leads me to believe that you have an add-on or something else causing your issue. I'd try starting Firefox in Safe Mode. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide and the Troubleshooting plugins article as well.
Hopefully this helps!

• Right click on a link and selecting "open in new window" does not work. How do I gewt this feature to work? PS Right click on a link and selecting open in new tab does.

No matter where the link is - in an e-mail or on a web page - the "Open in new window" feature does not work. Very annoying. Also I close Firefox in a session, but then cannot re-open it. When I shut my PC down I get a prompt to End Task -[ Firefox ] and a window opens asking if I want to save tabs and quit; quit; or cancel. After closing Firefox it does not show as an application running in Task Manager
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== I recently re-installed Firefox.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See Troubleshooting extensions and themes and Troubleshooting plugins
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")

• I can't open a new window in Firefox 4 on my mac. Was working great. I installed new mac firmware and restarted, probably without closing Firefox properly. Now window won't open.

Hi:
As noted above, Firefox won't open a new window. I restarted machine without closing Firefox. Now, I get the Firefox menu bar but it won't open a window. I'm using mac, with OS X 10.6

Firefox doesn't install new versions of plugins, but Flash may update itself automatically.<br />
You are still one version behind on Flash, current is Flash 10.1 r85<br />
If the Flash player didn't update properly then you need to download the full version and run the installer as Administrator (right-click: Run as ...)

• URL Iview is not open a new Window in FireFox

Hi Guys,
After we upgrade our portal to NW 7.0 EHp2 SP6 , we can not open the URL Iviews in Firefox.
It looks like can't force the iview to open a new window and instead it open a new tab , Any suggestion?
Thanks,

Hi Mar,
To me, the PAM mentioned Firefox 3.5 is not recommended for NW 7.0 Ehp2 - Firefox 3.6 is supported for NW 7.0 Ehp2 starting with SPS6.
Anyway, if it works in IE & Safari, I don't think it has anything to do with the portal; it's something in Firefox settings.  As mentioned before, did you check the option to open new links in new windows? Also, please checkSAP Note 1296463 and its related notes about browsers to see if there's something relevant to your case.

• How do I create a hyperlink that will open a new window, when saving a frame file as a pdf?

I have created a hyper link in Frame using the message URL command in the marker window. I have added the target="_blank"  command after the http url within the marker. But when I then save the frame doc as a pdf and open that pdf from within a browser, when I click on the link in that pdf, it goes to the new link but it does not open in a new window or tab.
What am I doing wrong?
I should mention that I am using Frame 10.

Best solution that I can find to tell you is to get Schlomo Perets' FrameMaker-to-Acrobat TimeSavers 5.0. From the FrameUsers mailing list:
Schlomo Perets said:
In FrameMaker-to-Acrobat TimeSavers 5.0, the "new window" link control was extended to optionally display web-based links in a new browser window (Links/General tab, Cross-file links: Open PDF in a new window, Also apply to web links).
The function can apply to all web links (i.e. no need to modify anything in the FrameMaker file), or to individual links (in which case a special hypertext marker has to be used instead of the standard "message URL http://..." marker).

• Quick link does not open in new window

Hi all
I created an URL iView and assigned a quick link to it. The "launch in new New Window" property is set to
"display in separate window".
If i call the quick link url the iView is not shown in a separate window, but in the content area. Why?
If I click in the portal on that iView, it opens in a new window.
What am I missing here or is it a portal bug?
Thanks for your help.
Paul

Hi Paul,
I face the same problem, any findings so far?
Thanks!
Best regards,

• Links will not open in new window from iPad but work in IE on desktop.

I am trying to set some links to open in a new tab but for some reason they just keep opening in the original tab. External links work fine but when I try to make another page from my website open in new tab, it will not work.
I have looked at the code and it all looks fine.
<a class="nonblock nontext shadow rounded-corners clearfix grpelem" id="u105617-9" href="metro_tweets.html" target="_blank"><!-- content --><p id="u105617"> </p><p id="u105617-2"> </p><p id="u105617-3"> </p><p id="u105617-7">Metropolitan<br/>Region TWEETS</p></a>
I have also ticked the box that says "open the link in a new window or tab".
Any ideas what the issue could be? It has worked before so I am sure it can be done.
Would it have anything to do with the site hierarchy?
Cheers
Garry

Hi Aish,
Thanks for the quick reply.
I had a feeling you would ask me those questions so I'll give you a bit more background of what I am doing.
I have created a locally accessed web app as part of project I am working on at Universty. It is a mockup of an iPad app that I will eventually build, although it is fully functional in it's web app state. For this reason it is not hosted on any web server but instead transferred to the iPad via DiskAid and accessed from Mercury Browser.
Mercury browser is the only browser that I have found that can display html files from within it's own file storage and make it look like it is being served from a server. Safari browser will not let you do this and the only other browser that I found that could do it has been discontinued (Terra Browser).
Adobe Muse has been fantastic for doing this kind of work and as I said before, the internal links opened in a new tab with Mercury Browser previously, so I am not really sure what is going on.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Cheers
Garry
