Linksys AE6000 Unstable Connection

Hi All,
I appreciate any help that can be provided, I've exhausted all options i can think of.
THE ISSUE
After recently upgrading my broadband to Virgin Media Fibre, I received a Super Hub 2 and Purchased 2 Linksys AE6000 Wifi adapters For My 2 Desktop PCs. While 1 Works fine, My Main PC Is Experiencing Very Unstable Internet Connectivity.
When Connecting To 5G/2G, Sharing Centre shows Connection To Hub ok But a fault from hub to internet.
Using The CD (Drivers are the same version as on their website), it finds and install the adpter ok, says "Connected but unable to verify connection to the internet."
can sometimes access pingtest.net which either hangs turing test, displays errors or reports a grade "F" line
On the other computer, its grade A results.
Try to download something beyond 1 MB and it fails (Tried with adobe flash player and java)
After 1-2 Minutes Of being Connected, Sharing Centre reports No Problems
Device Manager reports no problems
Diagnostics:
Tried With A fresh Install Of Genuine Windows (See Below For Specs). Fully Updated And Activated. All Drivers Installed And Nothing Else. Issue Not Fixed
Tried Swapping Dongles (I Have 2). Issue Still There (Issue Not With Dongle)
Tested Router With Different Portable Devices and Nearby Computer. Works OK.
Tried Changing Wireless Channels. Not Fixed
Restarting and Resetting The Router. Not Fixed
Tried Driver From The Website, Not Fixed
Tethered To Phone On 3G. Managed To Get Connected But With Grade F Line and <1Kb Speed (Phone Internet Is Fine)
Tried Different USB Ports / Reinstalled USB Drivers (USB 2 & 3). Not Fixed
Tried With Chrome. Not Fixed
Lowered Security Settings. Not Fixed
Physically Moved The Tower Closer To Teh Router (1Meter From The Router). Not Fixed.
My Specs:
Gigabyte Z77MX-D3H Motherboard
Core i7 3770 Processor
8GB DDR3 1600MHz RipjawsX Memory
Nvidia GTX660TI Graphics Card
260GB Force 3 Series SSD
2 x 500GB Seagate HDD's Raided to 1TB
Windows 7 Professional X64 Genuine
Microsoft Security Essentials With Windows Firewall (MSE Not Currently Installed)
Thats just about all i can think of at rate. If theres anything else that i think of in the mean time, i'll add it. I spoke to linksys tech support who basically ruled that the dongle can see networks and issue is with the PC so couldn't help further (Understandably).
I purchased this dongle as i need to connect to the 5G about 5 meters away and up one floor (Router one end of the house, my PC the other) but even moving very close to the router doesnt help.
Please provide any assistance you can think of because i'm at my wits end and have wasted an entire weekend trying to resolve this. Thank You
Dan Jackson

  • Yoga 13 Wireless Fix - far better range and speed using 5G Linksys AE6000 .11ac usb nub

$60 Linksys model AE6000 802.11ac USB hub has made my Yoga 13 a useful device.  Benefits are as follows, along with a quick "how to" tutorial.
Far better range from my access point (80 feet with reasonable speed on Linksys vs. 30 feet using built-in Realtek WLAN card.
Significantly faster speed 55 meg/sec using 5G, compared to stock Yoga/Realtek's 2.4 GHz-limited 14-16 meg/second download speeds - both tests done same day using Ookla Speedtest.net)
No longer crashing after resume (I suspect the crashing that began with Win 8.1 is due to driver issue)
Recognizes both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WLAN networks (Windows 8.1 failed to recognize 5GHz signal until I backdated the Linksys WLAN driver to use Windows 7 driver).
    TUTORIAL / STEPS:
Turn off (or at a minimum - review before downloating) windows updates - otherwise Win8.1/Yoga will over-write the good driver you're about to install and revert you back to slow WLAN performance.  Give Microsoft 6-12 months & maybe they'll get the drivers right for their POS Win 8.1.
    Create a restore point.
Download & the Windows 7 (yes, seven) drivers to a folder on your Yoga.
    Then open the following folder:
    C\Windows\System32\drivers
Locate the file named "netr28ux.sys" and move it to a new folder you create on your desktop (for safe keeping)
Download the Windows 7 x64 drivers for the Linksys AE6000 and the installation/setup program from the Linksys support pages here
    http://support.linksys.com/en-us/support/adapters/AE6000
Extract those Win7 x64 files (including the netr28ux.sys file) into their own folder, then copy the extracted files to the
    C\Windows\System32\drivers  folder.
Run the Linksys AE6000's little setup utility, insert the little nub into your USB port, complete running the setup utility, type in (or select) your network, type in your password & select your encryption type, and you should be in good shape.
I turn my onboard "WLAN 1" card off using the right-swipe/charms, and the Linksys shows up as "WLAN 2" with the networks it's picking up.
    CAVEATS:
The Linksys AE6000 occupies one your USB ports, but the Linksys AE6000 seems to have the smallest size (barely 1" sticking out) and was rated the fastest of its size by PC Magazine.  Very good performance for .11n and .11ac environments.
This mod may not be for everyone.  I was able to barely tolerate the Yoga's wireless limitations since purchasing in May, but the Win 8.1 rollout (along with what must be craptastic drivers) was the last straw.  The system began behavng erratically, crashing after resume, and wireless was even worse (speed degraded to 1 meg/sec or less up and download, within an hour after a reboot).
I have not checked the impact of this nub on battery life.  I suspect it may be a little worse than stock, but it may be a reasonable tradeoff for me to actually be able to travel more than 30 feet from my router/access point (and have YouTube stream in FHD without stutters/crashes).
    BACKGROUND:
After Windows 8.1 update, my Yoga 13's wireless performance went from barely adequate to useless (crashed on resume, speed degradation an hour after fresh boot, etc.).
I'm sharing this info because I've enjoyed this machine's other assets so much.  It's too bad we can't replace the Realtek WLAN card, and obviously Lenovo though enough of our issues suffered that they chose a different card for the Yoga 2 (although the antenna design still may be partly to blame for some of those performance issues as well).   Love the keyboard, display, etc. and can put up with the fan noise (if someone has a fix for fan noise though, please post to this thread or point me to the fix).
Best of luck with this potential (relatively inexpensive) work-around.  It's not as ideal as switching out the internal card, but I'm pretty pleased so far.  If there are other wireless fixes, please share on this thread.
    Thanks,
    Stanford

Having used this thing for a couple of weeks now, I'm still amazed at how great the network performance is and how it's transformed my Yoga 13 into a near-instant device around the house (incl range that extends to the garage and perimeters of front & back yards.  And traveling is pretty phenomenal too - great speeds at the hotels we've visited (instead of having to tether my 4G phone because Lenovo's weak-sauce wireless couldn't hang onto a 1-bar connection for 3 minutes).
It's a small tradeoff in having a 1" by 1/8" inch "nub" stick out of a USB port, but one of the best $60 upgrades I've ever done.  Highly recommended.

  • HELP I have a wireless Linksys router WRT54G connected th...

HELP I have a wireless Linksys router WRT54G connected through my cable company broadband modem on a Mac. I have another computer to which I installed wireless capability because it didn't come with it. This required attching some piece of equipment to the back of the PC which enabled it to get on the internet without another cable modem. My question is this. If I get an iphone or a laptop(with built in wireless ability) will I automatically be able to go on the web because of the router on the Mac.

yes certainly... if you get any wireless device in network that would certainly connects to a wireless n/w of router...

  • "unstable connection" when using my External Bluray burner!

I have a Mac Pro Quad (2008)and a Pioneer bdr-205bk in an external caddie.
I have a connection from one of the hidden internal SATA ports mounted as eSATA on the rear of the tower. My bluray burner has two methods of connection - usb and esata.
In both modes the drive works fine, reading and playing films. When I try to burn I get an unstable connection error and the drive stops responding. I have no idea whats going on!
I am trying to burn with Toast v10 - which has bluray support. As I mentioned prior to burning, the drive shows up as expected and all seems well.
    I am running OS X 10.5 - latest patch...
Please can someone offer some advice....

I have heard of ppl this error in SL and running old versions of toast...but looks like you don't have either of those issues!
have you tried burning a regular DVD with finder? same results? Do you only get the error when trying to burn bluray in toast?
when I installed my BD i had issues with the drive not responding, if I restarted the drive would work again, then stop responding again after about 5-10 minutes.
To fix that issue I went to sys prefs > energy saver > and unchecked put hard disk(s) to sleep when possible.

  • Linksys AE6000 problem!

    HI All,
Does anyone use linksys ae6000 under linux?i try the offical driver download from mediatek website, after complie, install, enable the wifi!reboot machine, got kernel panic!anyone got idea? Thanks!

    Hi,
Well here I am replying to my own post, just in case it help someone else in the future
I did get this combo to work:
I used a static IP address in the WET54 - something like 192.168.1.60
Then I use a static IP address in the Mac - something like 192.168.1.65
I also added the router IP address as the gateway - 192.168.1.1
And finally I added the DNS server from my router - I found this by going to the router setup and selecting manual DNS - and copying the numbers there.
Now everything is OK and I can surf without wires!

  • Linksys WRT150N Riuter Unstable Connection

I have a WRT150N Wireless Router and my internet connection to my computer and laptop, which are both using wireless receivers, are VERY unstable. I am constantly losing connection to these two computers. Sometimes it lets me reconnect to my network but other times it doesnt. Any solutions?

Try resetting & reconfiguring the router ... also check if any upgrade for firmware on linksys website available or not ... After upgrade ... reset & reconfigure the router ....

  • EA3500 unstable connectivity

bought the Router in Aug 2014.
It was good at the begining, then I found some unstablity - sometimes pinging the router 192.168.1.1 would see hundreds ms reponse time. That's when my connectivity drops and interenet speed gets slow.
It doesn't happen often, but once or twice a week. still annoying though.
I wonder if that's channel interference by other Wi-Fi siginals around my neighborhood. (I live in an apartment so many wifi signals around).
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

That can also be a sign of high bandwidth usage. Did you ask other users what they were up to on the net at the time?
The EA3500 doesn't have nearly as much memory and processing power as newer routers these days.
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

  • QaaWS-swf in InfoView: unstable connection

    Hallo,
we designed a dashboard using QaaWS to connect to live data. On a local machine, the Xcelsius-swf works fine. Once I publish it to InfoView and open it online, the connection seems to be "unstable"? After several minutes (2 to 3) when I navigate the dashboard so the QaaWS has to refresh the data, I get the following error message for each QaaWS:
soapenv:Server.generalException: Unable to reconnect to the CMS. The session has been logged off or has expired. (FWM 01002)
After closing the dashboard, InfoView also shows an error message:
An error has occurred: Unable to reconnect to the CMS. The session has been logged off or has expired. (FWM 01002)
The timeout is set to 20 minutes, so this should not be the problem. Also, when I navigate through WebI, the InfoView connection stays stable. The problem seems to occur only when swfs, using QaaWS are opened.
Any suggestions what to do to keep the connection alive would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Kevin,
I have been having touble with Xcelsius and had seen a similar error to this. I was accessing through BI Widgets and the application was shutting down. I was also getting the same error, but had assumed the problem was with my server.
We reinstalled and created a new BOE environment and created a simple qaaws application. This ran fine updating 12 times a minute. At this point I closed the issue I had raised with the SAP/BO, concentrating on the other issues.
However, after I recreated my original dashboard, I found the problem reoccurred. The default session timeout was 1 minute. What I found was that I could get around the problem by refreshing the qaaws query more frequently than that. As my data was only really updating every 15 minutes this resulted in a lot of unncessary queries to the database but at least the user was not seeing the error
I then looked at creating the query through live office, as I noticed the a second dashobard I had created with Live Office did not seem to be suffering the same problem. I was able to get this working without the session time out and the high number of database queries.
I realise these are more workarounds the fixes but I hope it helps
    Regards
    Alan

  • Linksys WRT54G v5 - Connection issues

    Good evening,
I picked up a new WRT54G (v5) the other day to replace an old BEFW11 router, and so far have been far less than impressed.  I have one computer on the wired connection, and one on wireless.  It seems, though, that if the wireless system is running any P2P software (Limewire, in this case), or anything else which creates a large number of simultaneous connections (BitTorrent for d/ling CD images, for instance), the router simply dies.  Although any existing TCP connections are fine (e.g. MSN Messenger switchboard connections, though not _new_ conversations), it is virtually impossible to generate any new TCP connections.  They appear to connect immediately, and then disconnect less than a second later.  This occurs for HTTP, SSH, Telnet, IMAP, and SMTP connections, so far as I've tried.
A hard reset of the router seems to be the only thing that helps.
I ran into similar issues with the BEFW11, and ended up using it only as an access point, and relying on an old D-Link DI-704P to take care of NAT -- and this worked fine.  But in this case, I want to take the DI-704 with me when I move, not leave it here ... and so I would really prefer if the Linksys could, uh, do what it's supposed to in the first place.
I tried upgrading the firmware to v1.00.9, but after sitting there for a few minutes I ended up with a "this page cannot be displayed" error from I E.  I'm going to give it another shot, but am a little hesitant to reboot the router at this point because I have no idea if it will be toast at that point or not.
EDIT: Now upgraded to v1.00.9.  Apparently this doesn't work over HTTPS, but it worked fine via HTTP itself.  We'll see if this has made a difference ...
I see some similar reports from other people.  Any suggestions?

yeah use a WRT54GL instead. my website is unindated with wrt54g/GS v5 and v6 router problems. how linksys has been able to ignore this problem is beyond me. the WRT54GL is by far the better router. (linux based)

  • LinkSys Wireless Card connects to "Access Point" but no internet connection

I have 2 LinkSys wireless cards. one is 802.11g, the other b. The signal for the Airport Extreme 802.11n Wi-Fi Wireless Base Station is very strong, but when I try to connect, it says "You are connected to the access point, but the Internet cannot be found". No internet access, and I can't ping anything (Ping request could not find host...). And of course the printer hooked to the AirPort is also not recognized. My iMac and Macbook both have no problems connecting to the network. There is no problem with ethernet connection to the Airport. Is it possible to have a compatibility problem between the Linksys and Airport hardware? I thought as long as they were were compatible 802.11, they would work together. The cards had no problem with my old DLink router or other hotspots in the city. Is there a set-up I missed for setting up the PC-based cards with the AirPort?

    Is your wireless network secured?
The box said windows xp or better... So I installed Linux!

  • Unstable Connection With My WRT 160N Router

It works fine on my wireless laptop and it rarely disconnect so I'm very happy about that. But on my PC which uses an ethernet cable, I get some problems. I have cable internet and everything seems fine for a while. On my PC, I can see the symbol on the bottom right hand corner indicating that it's connected to the internet but when I go on any website, my broswer (firefox) time out and nothing is working. To solve this problem I have to log into the router website at 192.168. 1.1 and as soon as I log in, my internet starts to work again. This can get very annoying. Is there like an option that keeps me connectivity from stalling or disconnecting? My wireless seem to be fine all the time.
    Thanks for your help.

There is a known issue with intermittent connectivity and the Build 11 firmware for the WRT160N V2. Build 11 is the current firmware on the Linksys site. Check to see if you have Build 11 if your router is a V2.
Downgrading to Build 8 is generally accepted to correct these issues, however Linksys have indicated to several people they do not have the build 8 firmware to give to end users.
This is ONLY for WRT160N V2 routers. This firware will not work on WRT160N V1.
You can find it at http://audipages.com/router/
Follow the dowload and firmware downgrade instructions on that page.

  • MacBook Pro Early 2011 WiFi unstable connections

I have been having issues in trying to stay connected to my WiFi network using my MacBook Pro 13" Early 2011 Version on Mavericks 10.8. I will have connection for anywhere between 20 to 30 minutes, sometimes less then that, and then it will just lose connection. It wont come back on until I either reselect the WiFi connection and possibly enter the password again, or I just turn it off and then on again to have it autoconnect. I have not had a single issue with my LG Nexus 5 phone that has been on the same network without a single dropped connection. I need to see if there is a fix for this as I need to have a stable connection for my school work as all of it is me having to turn in assignments online. Has anyone else had this issue or ever heard of it?

    Try the basics first:
Change your router channel number.  Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem.  unplug it for about 10 seconds.  Plug it back in.  Do the same for Apple’s routers.  Wait for everything to reboot.
    System Preferences>Network
    Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.

  • Linksys e2000 guest connections, limit bandwidth

How can I limit bandwith speed of guest accounts? Or are there free softwares available to do something like that? It's kinda like the hotspot softwares - where we can set hourly, daily, monthly allowances and see a report on their connectivity.
    Please help.
    Thank you

As far as I know, you can't do that with the firmware that Linksys provides for that model. Your best bet be to check out DD-wrt and see if they have that feature. I know that you can set up your router as a hotspot using their firmware. Someone else on the forums might be able to provide a specific answer. Btw, what do you mean by guest accounts?
I don't work for Cisco. I'm just here to help.

  • Unstable connection during weekdays

Hello. I've been a Sky Broadband user for a year. I recently moved from London to Alderley Edge. Since the new connection was established it has been working fine. But lately, since July 12 its been very unstable. During daytime i.e. 9 to 6 there is absolutely no connection, the light is always amber. In the evening, the connection is unstable at a 15 minute interval or shorter. During weekends, there is no problem with the internet. I called customer support, they said its the router or the network profiling that was initiated. what? I didn't ask them to profile my network. I want my internet back!!

    The light is solid Amber.
The connection is unstable between 9 to 6 on weekdays. It also does not work on Fridays.
They've attempted to fix it three times, but it always comes back a day after they fix it.
The others in our apartment have the same problem. 2 of them have cancelled Sky subscription. I'm thinking about doing the same.
