Linux / Javagui / frontend services

Hi there,
I am actually working on a windows / sapGui / R/3 environnement and I use the class CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES to do all my upload/download of files and stuff.
My client is intending to migrate to a Linux / Javagui / R/3 environnement.
In my first tests, some of the functionnalities of the class do not work in the new environnement. Does anybody know of another class that would do the same kind of operation or of any documentation about how I can cope with the new environement ?
Thanks,
Nicolas.

On my SuSE 9.3 Pro box exception NOT_SUPPORTED_BY_GUI is raised by CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>GET_COMPUTER_NAME...

  • CFMX7 - Linux - Novell Cluster Services

I have a 2 node cluster set up with Suse Linux and Novell
Cluster Services. There is a cluster resource of apache that is set
up in the cluster, as well as a shared volume as a cluster
resource. THe apache running as the cluster resource is using the
shared volume for the web root home. Furthermore, apache is running
individually on each node. Can anyone offer any opinions on setting
up CFMX7 in this environment. We are not worried about load
balancing, this is strictly needed for failover. My concerns are
which install config I could be using, Individual Server,
MultiServer, or J2EE? Can we use 1 CFADMIN for both nodes to
minimize the overhead of keeping the configs in sync? During the
install, can we use the cluster resource instance of apache to
install to? My concern here is when we install it on the second
node and point to the shared volume for the web root home, it's
going to have a problem since it already exists? Any input is
    appreciated. Thanks.

    lot of talks about this, many things to consider.. here are few atleast;
If you have (or buy) VMware HA and vMotion, do you even need Novell
    Cluster Services anymore?
if you want vMotion, you need to use vmdk for storage, which might be an
issue for large volumes.. or not?
For large storage you could use RDM LUNs directly from SAN. But then you
cannot use vMotion or run many nodes (of the same cluster) on one
    physical server.
We are running multiple three node OES2 NCS clusters on three VMware
servers, using RDM LUNs from EMC SAN. Did a rolling migration from
physical Netware clusters using the same LUNs.

first Stop all the service using STOP.sh from products bin and stop the weblogic server.
then ps -ef | grep hyperion
will show which services are still running,
kill the services accordingly and dont forget to check ps -ef | grep weblogic, if still running then kill it.

  • Oracle on Linux recommendations

    Hello,
I'm looking to migrate our Oracle installation from Windows to Linux. I am an experienced Linux administrator and architect, and I am also very familiar with SAN storage, but have not looked at the details of implementing Oracle on Linux before. I have certain constraints dictated by our client requirements and available hardware. Namely, the hardware platform will be 2 HP DL580's connected via dual fibre to HDS (Hitachi) 9900V storage. There will be multiple luns presented for different containers. As a result of the multiple storage paths we require good multipath IO support. For this reason my first choice is Redhat Enterprise AS 5. However, on the database side we are limited due to client application compatibility to Oracle 10g R1/R2. We are looking to deploy RAC. We are also looking at 64bit for larger file and memory support. Is this realistic?
What sort of configuration should I be looking at?
Should I be looking at Oracle Enterprise Linux 5?
Am I going to have problems if we want to use RHEL5?
Is Oragle 10g well supported on RHEL5/OEL5 or will I have to drop to RHEL4/OEL4 (which may cause problems for my SAN mpio support.)
Will we require OCFS2 for any reason?
What advantage is there to me in running unbreakable linux? I've read the marketing blurbs but it is not clear to me what the advantages are.
    Any feedback is welcome.
    Thanks,
    Sheldon.

    Hi,
I think it is Okay to you mentioned configuration to deploy the RAC based on 10g &RHEL5/OEL5.As a matter of fact,Oracle 10gR2 64-bit has been certified on RHEL5-64bit&OEL5-64bit.
Actually,OCFS2 and ASM are supported by Oracle RAC.The recommended way to manage large amounts of storage in a RAC environment is ASM (Automatic Storage Management). If you want to use the cluster file system,OCFS2 as an open source project is provided.
OEL5 is fully compatible with RHEL5.Unbreakable Linux is support service. If you choose the OEL5,you can benefit from it as below:
1,Oracle Enterprise Linux is Free to Download. For Enterprise customers had to pay for a support contract to actually get an enterprise Linux distribution, even if they just wanted to evaluate it. With Oracle Unbreakable Linux, customers can always download the binaries and the source code for free, no support subscription required.Free download at: http://edelivery.oracle.com/linux
2,Oracle applied a number of bugfixes on top of the original code. These are very limited in scope, and they are critical for customers to have as soon as possible in their production deployment. For a complete listing, read the following data sheets:http://www.oracle.com/technologies/linux/el5cert-ds.pdf
    3,Extensive Testing:
Tremendous effort has gone into assuring that there is no divergence from the original Red Hat source code, given that the main goal of Oracle Enterprise Linux and the Oracle.
    4,Patches and Bugfixes
Another aspect of compatibility with Red Hat Enterprise Linux is around patches and bugfixes written by Oracle and not appearing in the Red Hat distribution.
5,Pay less money and get more professional support service:)

    Hi David,
According to your description, the code running smoothly in windows, and getting this problem when using SQL Server driver for linux.
So, what's the version of your SQL Server driver for linux?
As per the error message, the function is not supported, so could you please check the configuration of the driver or there are some limitation in the driver you used?
Please follow these links to have a check:
The ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server on 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.
You can download the ODBC driver for Red Hat at

  • How to monitor memory usage of "Memory-based Snapshot" executable (MRCNSP)  in Linux?

We have noticed in the past that MRCNSP/Memory-based Snapshot program executable consumes around 3.8 GB of memory on the linux VM. I understand that value change planning  is 32 bit executable so 4 GB is the limit. I want to monitor the memory usage of the executable when the program runs. The program usually runs overnight. I wanted to check with you experts if you have any MRP executable memory usage monitoring script that I could use.
I found the metalink note OS Environment and Compile Settings for Value Chain and MRP/Supply Chain Planning Applications (Doc ID 1085614.1) which talks about "top -d60 >>$HOME/top.txt". Please share your ideas for monitoring this process.
We do not use Demand Planning or Demanta or Advanced Supply Chain Planning which are 64 bit application. That is our future direction.
    Environment:
EBS : R12.1.2 on Linux. The concurrent manager is on 64 bit linux VM, web services on 32 bit VMs.
DB: Oracle DB 11.2.0.3 on HP UX Itanium 11.31. Single database instance.
    Thanks

RAM on the controller is not the same as the C: drive. With respect to the controller, you can think of it in the same terms as your computer. RAM is volatile memory and your C: drive is non volatile flash memory.
Depending on the frequency of the temperature excursions above and below your 70C threshold, the service life of the controller and the method you used to append to the file, there could be a number of issues that may creep up over time.
The first, and the one you brought up is the size of the file over time. Left unchecked this file could grow continuously until the system literally runs out of flash memory space and chokes. Depending on how your are appending data to this file, you could also use more than a trivial slice of processor time to read and write this big file on disk. While I have not personally ever run one of the RT controllers out of "disk space", I can't imagine that any good could come of that.
One thought is to keep a rolling history of say the last 3 months. Each month, start a new file and append your data to it during the course of the month. Each time a new file is created, delete the data file from something like 3 months ago. This will ensure that you will always have the last 3 months of history on the system, however the monthly deletion of the oldest data file will limit you to say 3 files at whatever size they happen to be. Unless there are hundreds of thousands of transitions above and below your threshold this should keep you in good shape.
I also eluded to the method you use to write to this file. I would ensure that you are appending data using the actual file functions and not first reading in the file, appending your data as a string then writing the entire file contents back to disk. In addition to causing the highest load on the file system this method also has the largest system RAM requirements.

  • Mainframe to BEA Linux call; Help in finding a solution

    Some background:
Our Linux/Web Logic services are based on synchronous HTTP (aka REST) calls, similar to the way a browser gets a web page, a client application, MF clients will do the same by calling our Linux-based HTTP service . Parameters are passed in a via URL encoded (name-value pairs) string. The response from the servlet will be in XML format. These will be non-transactional stateless requests.
    The problem:
We have Mainframe clients that need to access the Web Logic-based REST/HTTP service. The Mainframe does not natively support HTTP requests from non-CICS processes.
So far it looks like MQ will be a good candidate for Mainframe based clients, since MQ works in all environments (CICS, Batch, Stored procedure Cobol), but MQ its not a good fit for Linux REST/HTTP services running inside Web logic. I'm keeping my options open, so don't assume that MQ will be the transport mechanism from the Mainframe side. I'm hoping there are BEA solutions that may fit here as well.
Do you guys have some solution?

    Try this...
Triple click anywhere in the line below to select it and press Ctrl+C to copy it.
    cmd /k netsh winsock reset
Press the WinLogoKey+R to open the run dialog, then Ctrl+V to paste, then press enter/return.
You should get something similar to this:
Reboot the computer and the problem should be resolved.
If it doesn't work then perhaps a full tear down and rebuild of iTunes will fix things. See Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for details.
