List event handler

Hello everyone,
I have a List with some elements in. I would like to handle the list events such that i.e. when the selectedIndex changes, a specific action to happen.
For example if the list elements are music file names, by changing the cursor from one element to the next one without pressing any buttons (no command listener) the new selected file should start to play.
How do we normally do that? Does ItemStateListener help?

I don't think you willbe able to do this with a List. Lists don't have any items, so you can't set an ItemStateListener. The ItemStateListener is used for the classes which extend Item, such as TextField, ChoiceGroup etc. So you would need to create a form and add some items to it for this to work. But even then the ItemStateListener only does something when the state changes, such as changing the text in a TextField etc.
To get this to work using LCDUI components you would have to create a CustomItem to represent each music track. This means doing all of the drawing yourself (which means it won't match the phone's theme). Within the CustomItem you can handle the traversal actions, i.e. on traverse in you could play the track and traverse out you could stop it. If you want to use this you should search for help on creating CustomItems, they can be quite tricky.
Alternatively you can create your own screen using Canvas (again this would not match the phone's theme). Here you can control the key pressed events and move between tracks and do whatever you want when one track is selected.

MVC Drop Down List Event Handler

Hello,
I am trying to create a bsp page using MVC design pattern. I have 3 drop down list fields which are dependent on each other. Example: When you select a value in list 1, drop down list 2 becomes enabled for selection with values based on list 1. At this point of time list 3 should be disabled. Once you select value from 2, list 3 becomes enabled with values based on list 2 selection.
I have seen a webblog on this topic from Raja but it was designed for bsp page flow design. Could you please guide how do I achieve this in MVC?

I though I was able to bind my dropdown return value but this is the error I am getting:
"Field symbol has not yet been assigned"

Event handler getting fired on all list and libraries

I have created an event handler and add it to a custom content type. Some how this event handler is getting fired on each every list which are there inside a site. Below is my content type declaration with fields and event handler. This content type
is being activated using a featur scope at "Site".

You need to add the ListTemplateId or ListUrl to the Receiver element,

I posted same thing in the UI programing in the morning
For better Visiblity(as i didnt get any replies) of my issue i am posting the same thing in the ABAP General as well.
In my dynpro ALV i have 5 fields. in that 2ed field has the drop down list.
if i select any of from the list, based on the particular selected value, some value should be reflect in the 3rd field of the ALV.
Ex:

Drop Down List in ALV with Event handler

Hi All ,
I have created an ALV grid with a dropdown as one of the columns. This all works fine, except that I want to be able to react to a change in the value of each line's dropdown the next column values should change according to the user selection in the 1st column .
Is this possible?
As an example, I have a table of records with one column as a dropdown called " Replace Function Module " and in 2nd column i have call function of that Replace Function Module , If a change in " Replace Function Module " should change the call function of in the 2nd column .
I am using these objects lvc_t_drop , lvc_s_drop and the method " set_drop_down_table ",
Please Can any 1 tel me how to do this with any event handler ar any other way !

I guess you should create a method inside which you call the FM using the FM name from the selected cell in ALV.
I have not tried it out, but its worth a try.

Dropdown box - which event handler to use ?

I am having trouble with setting the readonly property (via Javascript) of the adjacent textbox to my dropdown box when the index value is a certain number.
I tried using MouseUp, MouseDown, and even OnBlur....but the readonly does not seem to be getting set to true or false consistently.
Could this be a timing issue ? The textbox that I am trying to control is the next tab-order control in the list of controls for this page.
This same logic is working fine in the MouseUp event handler for check boxes. So I am just wondering if this is a bug or must my implementation change to accomodate dropdown boxes ? For instance, should I move the logic to the Enter event handler of the textbox instead ? Can a control's own eventhandler set itself to readonly when it is the active form field ?

After tons and tons of testing time, I've come to the conclusion that dropdowns are totally buggy in 11.0.07 release of Acrobat Pro.
Even if you set the "commit values immediately", you get the PRIOR selected item's value as the event value, not the CURRENT one.
This occurs in a Validate event handler script. I have not been able to use any other event handlers for a dropdown except the OnBlur....and then, for my purposes, IT'S TOO LATE !!!
This is totally worthless as I need to setFocus() and set fields to readonly based on the immediate dropdown offset or face value.

Can DISABLE preProcess Event Handler add to the Orchestration parameters?

I have a DISABLE pre-process event handler defined on the User object. I need to set the current date on a USR UDF attribute whenever the user is disabled or enabled or created. The CREATE handler works and the date value shows up on the user profile. However, when I try to set this attribute on the pre-process DISABLE or ENABLE event handlers, the new date does not show up. Here is the code I am using in my DISABLE/ENABLE event handler:

orchestration.addParameter(USER_STATUS_DATETIME_ATTR_NAME, currentTime);
Where the orchestration object is from the execute() parameter list.
Any ideas as to why this is not working? Is adding to the orchestration not allowed for DISABLE or ENABLE event handlers? I know my handler is getting calls as I am logging the orchestration.getOperation() value.

When you update the field, make sure you are using the field label name, and not the UDF value.

List Events in J2ME

Hi!
Can we add an event to List?
Like say: I want to display at the ticker the content of the list which is selected.
If I select List index[0], then the content of the List at zero will be shown at the ticker and so on for which ever index I select from the List.
When I press down the down arrow of my keyboard that particular index should be displayed only and not on Pressing the Ok button which goes for the commandAction (Command c, Displayable d) method. There must be some event handling for the problem which I am facing but not sure about it.
Using this code only display the text of the first selected item which is selected by default:

In MIDP, there is no way for the application to handle List traversal events.
It is possible to do something like that with CustomItem designed to simulate list look and feel but the code would be quite complicated. Also, even though it's doable that way, I generally doubt that passing list element text to ticker while traversing would make nice [user experience|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_experience|Wikipedia article].
To do stuff like showing (large? detailed?) content of selected List element I'd personally prefer good old commandAction. And I'd show it on a dedicated "helper" screen, not on a ticker.
By the way - as far as I understand you are trying to avoid commandAction... why?

WPF UI running in seperate runspace - able to set/get controls via synchronized hash table, but referencing the control via the hash table from within an event handler causes both runspaces to hang.

I am trying to build a proof of concept where a WPF form is hosted in a seperate runspace and updates are handled from the primary shell/runspace. I have had some success thanks to a great article by Boe Prox, but I am having an issue I wanted to open up
to see if anyone had a suggestion.
My goals are as follows:
1.) Set control properties from the primary runspace (Completed)
2.) Get control properties from the primary runspace (Completed)
3.) Respond to WPF form events in the UI runspace from the primary runspace (Kind of broken).
I have the ability to read/write values to the form, but I am having difficulty with events. Specifically, I can fire and handle events, but the minute I try to reference the $SyncHash from within the event it appears to cause a blocking condition hanging both
runspaces. As a result, I am unable to update the form based on an event being fired by a control.
In the example below, the form is loaded and the following steps occur:
1.) Update-Combobox is called and it populates the combobox with a list of service names and selects the first item.
2.) update-textbox is called and sets the Text property of the textbox.
3.) The Text value of the textbox is read by the function read-textbox and output using write-host.
4.) An event handle is registered for the SelectionChanged event for the combobox to call the update-textbox function used earlier.
5.) If you change the selection on the combobox, the shell and UI hangs as soon as $SyncHash is referenced. I suspect this is causing some sort of blocking condition from multiple threads trying to access the synchronized nature of the hash table, but I am
unsure as to why / how to work around it. If you comment out the line "$SyncHash.TXT_Output.Dispatcher.Invoke("Send",[action]{$SyncHash.TXT_Output.Text = $Value})" within update-textbox the event handler will execute/complete.

Thanks again for the responses. This may not be possible, but I thought I would throw it out there. I appreciate your help in looking into this.
To clarify the "Respond to control events in the main runspace"... I'm would like to have an event generated by a form object in the UI runspace (ex: combo box selectionchanged event) trigger a delegate within the main runspace and have that delegate in
the main runspace update the form in the UI runspace.
ex:
1.) User changes selection on combo box generating form event
2.) Event calls delegate (which I have gotten to work)
3.) Delegate does some basic processing (works)
4.) Delegate attempts to update form in UI runspace (hangs)
As to the delegates / which runspace they are running in. I see the $synchash variable if I run get-var within a delegate, but I do not see the $Form variable so I am assuming that they are in the main runspace. Do you agree with that assumption?

Event handling in LOV

Hi There,
We have a use-case where we need intercept the event of af:inputComboboxListOfValues component.
I have table, which has three columns, Name, Description and Label.
I have a LOV on Name column.
When user change the value of Name column by selecting an value from dropdown, I need to do business validation, I show user the "Yes/No" popup with warning message, and base on the user's choice, either proceed with the change or stop the change.
My problem is that I am unable to find a appropriate event to show the popup.
I know there are several events in the af:inputComboboxListOfValues component, launchPopupEvent, returnPopupEvent and valueChangeEvent.
1. If I show popup on launchPopupEvent, after the user click "Yes/No" button on the popup, the page will be refreshed and dropdwon doesn't show the item list.
2. returnPopupEvent and valueChangeEvent event will be handled by framework in one request, there is no chance for user's interaction.
I am not familiar with ADF event handling machenism, can anyone help me?

first of all, never post questions regarding internal JDeveloper builds (11.1.1.7 is not released to public) on this public forum. You are from Oracle and therefore have internal channels for this (note that using internal builds the problem could be with the build and not necessarily the code alone).
To your question:

doesn't work. If you set the "name" column component to autosubmit="true" then the listener fires as soon as you move out of the field and you can raise the alert. The current row in the binding points to the row you changed the name for and as such the value can be unset (the value change listener shows you the before and after value)

i am having a problem in JList event handling.Following is my code--

Event handling in Network UI element in Webdynpro

Hi ,
I am developing a hierarchial graph using Network UI element.I want to incorporate event handling so that the graph will respond to user actions like on double clicking a node an URL will be opened.I can notproceed with the event handling.
Can anyone tell me the procedure to do this from webdynpro java.

Hi Nayeem,
The Network UI element has lots of events defined for it which can be handled to get the desired functionality.
Go to the View in which you have added the Network Element, select the Element and go to the
properties tab.
Under events , you can see a list of events defined for this UI element.
Select the event you wish to handle and press the Create button which gets visible once
an event say onNodeSelected is selected
You can then give a name to the action say UserClicked and save it .
In the properties tab of the UI element , the action will be registed against the event .
Now select the event again and press the go button.
It will redirect you to the java editor of the view where in you can place your event handling logic.
Alternatively, if you have created the UI element dynamically then you can add the event to the UI element by using the following code
