List Item Search Capability Is only Available in Default Style Views

Hello,
I am using SharePoint 2013 and I am impressed with the List Search Capability that is available when you use the Default Style view option. What I am not impressed with is that the capability in not in all
the other styles like shaded. Is there any method that I can use to activate that functionality throughout all of my lists using any type of style like shaded. For my organization it is a 508 compliance issue.

Hi,
It is by default that view styles other than default has no inline Search box. In SharePoint 2013, if you need to customize list view style, you need to use JSlink property to change the fields' view:

Dear all,
I have one form. Inthis form I have one list item named occupation_status.I have one text field called "Age".
In the occupation_status property palette I set the "elements in the list" as follows

My requirement comes here:
User should allowed to select "Not Applicable" only if his age < 7
If his age>7 then the list value "Not Applicable" in disable state.he sholud not allowed to select that value.

I want to populate List item , from table using SQL query,
e.g. select * from dept_name,dept_no from dept; and want to save deptid. i.e list item disply only dept_name and store/save dept_id as it is foreign key.

I have adopted this technique.
I have made function combo_population :
PROCEDURE COMBO_POPULATION(COMBO_NAME VARCHAR2, COMBO_LIST VARCHAR2)

END;
I create record group dept_rg (select deptname,to_char(deptid) from dept)
And i called function at when-new-form-instance
combo_population('dept_rg','emp.empdepart');
It works very well only it shows list of department Name, and save department id only.(noted that, on form the list item is deptid and only change its type to varchar2 then above function works well).

On eBay, in my saved searches, there are only a few items for sale but on Google Chrome, there are hundreds listed, windows xp.

I have "searches you follow" on eBay, there used to be hundreds of items listed on one of the searches, now there are only about twenty listed. When I open eBay in Google Chrome, the same search shows hundreds of items like it should.
I have tried logging out and logging in to eBay again and searching without using my followed searches and still only get a few items listed.

Since updating to 3.6.1 I don't get an empty browser window in my tool bar whe. it opens --- just a list of search engines. I can't find anything in "Help" or the FAQ's that seem to address this. My only choice seems to go back to Safari.

I am not sure what your problem is, can you give more details.
One possibility is you may be in full screen mode, for details on fixing that see the [[menu bar is missing]] article.
If you are missing various toolbar items, see the [[back and forward or other toolbar items are missing]] article.
If your problem is something else please give more details.

'Find an Item' search on list with more items than view limit

Hello all
The 'Find and Item' search on a list with more items than the view limit appears to filter results according to where you are in that list. So if I search on the allitems page displaying items 1-100 I get hits from the entire list. But if I arrow
through to view items 201-300 and repeat the same search only items from 201 to the end of the list are returned
I'm assuming this is not how it should work i.e. it should always return results from the whole list. Is there a way to make that so (other than increasing the view limit to something huge so that all items are always displayed)

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that Find an item Search box in List didn't returned any results.
The problem is due to a difference between the Content Source defined for the crawl and the default zone defined in the Alternate Access mapping.
You need to change the Alternate Access Mapping configuration.

Scope to search List Items

I need to create a search scope that would limit the results to only the list items in all the custom lists of a particular site.
I created a search scope and added a "Web Address" rule type, set the "Folder" to the site I need searched and set the "Behavior" to Include.
This gets me everything in the site.
Gut feeling tells me that I need to also create a "Property Query" rule type and set it to "Require" to filter out only the list items, but I'm not sure what to put for property restrictions.
Appreciate some help on this...

Using REST API: Query search box to return list items

Hey,
My goal is to create a search box which returns the items (matching to the name) from a list.
Bonus: The return would happen without requiring user to click a
Search button or such.
To achieve this I assume the SharePoint 2013's REST API should be used. I'm completely inexperienced in using the REST API so all kind of suggestions are available.

Custom List Item Pages in Search Result

Hi there,
We are using SharePoint 2013 and have built a custom web part that displays a series of items from a list. When you click on one of the items, it takes you to a custom page that displays the selected list item, styled with our company branding. This works
perfectly. However when a user performs a search, the search results includes the link to the SharePoint list item, and not the custom branded page. We'd like to have the search results include this custom page, instead of the standard SharePoint dispform.aspx
page. Is there anyway to exclude the dispform.aspx and include our CustomItem.aspx in this search results? If so, how is this possible?
For instance, a standard search returns the result:
https://mydomain.com/Lists/Announcements/DispForm.aspx?ID=23
Our custom branded page, which we want included in Search results is this:
https://mydomain.com/AnnouncementsDetail.aspx?ID=23

Does you custom page have a managed property associated with its location, say 'myURL'? I think you should be able to achieve this by customizing one of the Search Display Templates. There are a couple of things involved here. For Result
Display rendering, Item_Default.html display template will have a "ctx.RenderBody(ctx)" call, in this case calling Item_CommonItem_Body.html template to display each item.
Take a look through Item_CommonItem_Body.html and there should be a place where instead of the OOTB managed property like Path or Url, you could put in your custom managed property to be displayed. It's best to not update the default display templates
but create custom ones and use custom result types with them. In this scenario, you are not touching what's being indexed, but simply changing the UI layer.
Another idea would be to use CEWS (Content Enrichment Web callout) and simply take the existing managed property responsible for printing out the link (like URL or Path), re-write it using some regex or similar logic and output it to the existing managed
property or a new one. You could have a trigger to only do this in specific scenarios to narrow this down, such as only to fire if an input path prefix matches a condition.
I would recommend doing this with Display Templates if possible, since introducing CEWS can have a performance impact on crawls, depending on how many items will need to be touched.

How to allow user defined in list item to see item using only Designer. Approver set in list item can't see items they are to approve.

SharePoint 2010 and Designer 2010.
We have a list of items that users enter information into. Only the user who enters the data can see the item. It's confidential stuff.
One field is the name of the person who will approve this record.
Workflow sends approver an email and sets a task to approve the item.
Problem is that the user set as approver cannot see the item.
We can't have a list of approvers - as all staff can potentially be approvers.
We can't allow anyone other than the person who created the item and the person that is set as approver in a field to have access.
I am not a programmer, but a user of SharePoint Designer 2010.
(I did think we had this sorted by sending an email containing all the list item fields, but this task still requires permissions).

I understand that after you grant user permission on current item ,the user still cannot approve the workflow task .This is because the user doesn't have approve permission in the Tasks list .You only grant the user permission on current item in current
list ,so he can approve the item by clicking the Approve/Reject in the edit control block .
Your workflow is correct ,now you need to grant the users Approve (a permission level) permission in the Tasks list settings .In this way ,the users can finish the tasks .

Making Read Only A select List Item

Hi,
I am using Application Express 3.1.1.00.09 version.
If the date field is future date then the Select List field should become Read only.
I tried to make "read only".
When I made it "read only" '>[] is displayed???
Does some one have a solution?

I assume that
the select list is not displayed at all.means that your page item is not rendered as a select list input control, but it's rendered as text only, right? That's the nature of the read only condition, it will render almost all controls as text only.
About the dynamic action solution. That can be simplified and doesn't require a hidden item or JavaScript.
1) Create a dynamic action which fires for the "Page Load" event
2) As (Server Side) Condition Type set "exists (SQL quer returns...)" and specify your SQL statement
3) Use a "Disable" action to disable your select list page item
The above dynamic action will only be included and executed on the page, if the SQL statement returns a value.
Note: Please keep in mind that dynamic actions are browser based operations, for a skilled user it's no problem to enable the select list and modify the value. To secure it you should add a server side validation to verify if the user is really allowed to modify the value. That's the difference to the "Read Only Condition", because in that case the APEX engine guarantee that the value can't be modified.

I have an onWorkflowActivated, followed by an ifElse condition and a log to history.
In the IfElse, each branch has a code segment, that trys to update the status column in the list that the workflow is attached to.

you can do the following:
add the following code to the workflow.xml file (under the MetaData section)

Try some thing like below,
your data value that needs to be update should be in this format "ID of the lookup";#"Title of the Lookup"
For example,
listItem["Product_x0020_Number"]

Allow user to select each item in list item only once.

What is the best way to go to stop the user selecting the same item in a list item more than one.
I have a multi record block, the user can select values 1-10 for each record, but they should not be allowed to select duplicates.

Suppose you have 4 list items A,B,C,D in block "test" and same 4 values in each list item. Now you want that, no two values selected by user in list item should be same.
On when-validate-item of list item B write code like :
If :test.A is null then
Message('First A must be enter");
Raise form_trigger_failure;
end if;
If :test.B = :test.A then
Message('value already in list item A');
Raise form_trigger_failure;
end if;
Now, for C same code with a addition of condition for B with OR operator like:
If :test.C = :test.A or then :test.C = :test.B
Like that.... you can achive your functionality.
But one restriction is that user has to enter values in list item in a pre-defined order only....
