  • Generate query list by Infoproviders

    Hello,
Is there a way to generate an organised list of queries by Infoproviders which is easier to export to a MS Excel other than from tables and repository.
    Thank you,

    Hello Justin,
    Check this thread...
[Re: how can i see all queries  on one cube...?(query list)|Re: how can i see all queries  on one cube...?(query list)]
Alternatively you might be able to achieve this using an ABAP program.

  • How can I get an Infoprovider list via the BI XML/A SOAP interface?

I have a followup question for this as well. Currently with xMII we are using the XML/A SOAP interface to query against remote enabled queries in BI. Is it possible through this interface to request a list of InfoProviders? I know that through MDXTEST in SAP GUI there is a list of providers there but is that available through the XMLA interface?  The BAPI that I found that will do this is BAPI_MDPROVIDER_GET_CUBES with the CAT_NAME value set to $INFOCUBE.  This name/description value set is what I am looking for.

Sorry about that. I had the link ready to paste but neglected to do so: http://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/getting-external-data-into-acrobat-x-javascript
The idea is that you can read in data from an external or attached file, but it will need to be a different format such as XML, tab-delimited text, or CSV, which can all be exported from a spreadsheet.

  • BI Content Activation & Installation

    Hi Experts,
Could you please ellaborate all steps(R/3 Side & BW Side) involved in Business Content Activation(interms of  D,M,A Version) and Installation.Thank you.
    Vasanth.D

    Hi Vasanth,
To specify which objects you want to install from BI Content or transport using the BI transport connection, you collect the relevant objects in the BI Content or Transport Connection (transaction RSOR) functional areas of the Data Warehousing Workbench
    Note
Since BI Content is highly integrated, you should familiarize yourself with the procedures for collecting BI Content.
Avoid collecting BI Content objects from application areas that you do not want to use. If you collect BI Content objects that you do not need, you waste time and increase the number of active, but unused, objects in your BI system.
    Prerequisites
    ●      You are familiar with the dependencies between BI object types. This knowledge is essential to be able to create consistent requests.
More information: Object Dependencies and Consistency
    ●      To copy BI Content to the active version: You have replicated the source systems for which you want to install source system-dependent BI Content. The delivery versions (pseudo D versions) are not available to the source system-dependent objects until after this replication.
    More information:
    Structure link Replication of DataSources
Special Features of Source System-Dependent Objects
    Procedure
    1. Specify the target source systems
If you also want to collect source system-dependent objects, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Source System Assignment to specify the source systems for which you want to collect objects. Only those objects that are assigned to the selected source systems are collected. If you want to collect source system-dependent objects but have not selected a source system, the dialog box for assigning source systems is displayed automatically.
    Recommendation
We recommend that you only select those source systems that you require; otherwise, you may have to wait longer than required when objects are collected.
    Note
This setting is particularly relevant when you activate BI Content because you use it to specify for which source systems you want to activate BI Content.
When you transport objects, you specify the target source systems in the target system for the transport. In this case, the setting is required to specify for which source systems the objects are to be exported.
More information: Defining the Target Source System
    2. Group objects to be included
In the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Grouping selection list in the right screen area, specify which objects are to be included. The groupings combine the objects from a scenario. By default, only those objects are collected that are essential to activate an object. If you also want to collect the objects that are required to activate all other objects that are collected at the same time, you can select the relevant option:
    ●      Only Necessary Objects (default setting)
    ●      In Data Flow Before
    ●      In Data Flow Afterwards
    ●      In Data Flow Before and Afterwards
    Note
If you change the default setting, the new setting becomes the default setting for your user.
    Caution
The grouping option selected has a significant impact on system performance while the objects are collected.
We recommend the following alternative for installing BI Content:
    ○       Collect objects for roles In Data Flow Before and install the collected objects.
    ○       Collect objects for InfoCubes and InfoProviders In Data Flow Before and install the collected objects. Finally, collect objects In Data Flow Afterwards and reinstall.
    More information:
    Defining Grouping Mode
    Object Dependencies and Consistency
    3. Specify the collection mode for objects
In the Collection Mode selection list in the right screen area, specify how you want to collect the objects.
    ●      Collect Automatically (default setting): The data is collected as soon as the objects are selected.
    ●      Start Manual Collection: The data is not collected until you choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Collect Dependent Objects.
    Recommendation
Set the collection mode to Start Manual Collection. This allows you to select all the objects without having to wait.
    4. Determine view of objects
In the left navigation window, specify which criteria you want to use to display the objects that you are collecting to install as BI Content or to transport.
If you selected a particular view in the left navigation window, the available objects are selected and arranged in the tree structure in the center screen area as follows:
View of Objects in Left Navigation Window
Display of Objects in Tree Structure in Center Screen Area

The Select Request/Task dialog box appears. Choose the request that you want to use.
This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Packages
List of packages containing SAP objects
    5. Specify display mode for collection objects
In the Display selection list in the right screen area, specify whether the collected objects are to be displayed as a hierarchy or a list.
    Recommendation
We recommend that you display the objects as a list if you want to keep a clear overview of the collected objects. If you want to identify why a specific object was collected or want to work through related objects scenario by scenario, choose the tree display (Hierarchy).
    6. Install the objects in Collected Objects
In the center screen area, select the objects that you want to collect, and drag and drop them to the right screen area Collected Objects.
    Note
The This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Find Object function allows you to use strings of characters (for example, 0CUST) or wildcard searches (for example, 0CUST_*B) to search for objects.
In the object types view, you can use the input help: By double-clicking the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Select Objects icon in the tree structure of the corresponding object type, you can display the Input Help for Metadata screen. Select the required objects. Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Transfer Selections.
    Caution
If you implement SAP Basis Plug-In releases lower than 2005.1 in the source system, you have to copy the BI Content DataSources of this source system to the active version and replicate them to the BI system before you can use them to transfer data.
    More information:
Structure linkCopying the BI Content DataSource to the Active Version
    Defining Grouping Mode
In the Collected Objects area of the screen, the system displays the selected objects and all their dependent objects. Collected objects are stored by default in the repository cache. This reduces the time it takes to access these objects when you want to use them again.
    Note
When you copy objects to the Collected Objects screen area, these objects are also added to the tree structure of the corresponding object type in the center screen area and are stored for your user. This personal object list is available for each user every time the program is started.
If you want to remove objects from your personal list, select the objects that you want to remove and choose Remove Object from Display in the context menu or choose the corresponding icon.
Objects that are used by other objects are only displayed as changeable in the tree display for collected objects the first time they are listed. Any further instances of these objects are grayed out so you cannot modify them. If you need to edit the object, switch to the list display for collected objects.
    7. Check the setting in the Collected Objects screen area
Check the settings for the BI Content installation or transport.
    More information: Checking Settings
    Result
You can now install the BI Content or start the transport.

  • BI 4.0 FP 3 Dashboard Builder Connection direct to BEX

    Hi all:
Currently my client does not have enterprise portal. in the past we could not do direct connection to BEX report and deploy it on BI launchpad. Reading some article in SDN /people/tammy.powlas3/blog/2011/11/25/sap-dashboard-bi-40-feature-pack-3-planned-features-asug-webcast-summary it mention it is possible in FP 3. I want to know whether we can use BI 4.0 EP 2 for enterprise and just upgrade Dashbuilder client tools. Is there anything additional we have to do to make it work.
    we have
    BI 7.2
    BOBJ 4.0 EP 2
    no enterprise portal
    Also
we also upgraded the client tool to FP 3.0 when i click on the bex connection and bex, it is only showing up the server name and nothing else
    Thanks

In CMC I never see the infoproviders, just a constant request for username and password.
The only time I see a list of infoproviders is in Information designer tool.  There I can define a connection and if I say I want to select a specific query I get only two catalogs (Favorites and InfoArea) neither catalog shows infoproviders.  If I say I will not use a specific query, then I can save the connection.
In the Information Designer you can then  use a tab called Show Values, which will create the same two catalogs (Favorites and InfoArea), which will have no infoproviders.  It will also create a third catalog with no description or name, and in this catalog there are infoproviders visible.
It is not possible for me to see this third unnamed catalog anywhere else.   Interactive Analysis will not display this catalog, so it is not possible to use the infoproviders.
Not sure but I hope this makes it clearer.

  • The table name or tcode to count the number of Dimensions and Key Figures

    Hi all,
Do you have an idea about the table name or tcode to count the number of Dimensions and Key Figures of an Infocube WITHOUT installing the cube from Business Content?
    Thanks in adv.
    Ajay

    Hi,
You can't do that because there's no active table in the system for the Business Content since it hasn't been installed yet...
One thing you could do is go to the Business Content Tab, select "Infoproviders by InfoArea" on the left side, look for the Cube or DSO you want to check, right click on it and select "Display Description".
On the window that opens you'll have a list of all InfoObjects and Key Figures. You also have the option to Display it as Start Schema, where you can see the Dimensions, etc.
    Hope this helps.

  • Administrator authorizations

    Hello,
In our company several administrator departments are using de administrator workbench. All for their own specific area (e.g. we have different depts. for HR and finance). I'm now trying to make some roles which makes it impossible for one dept. to change or see contents in the info-area of another dept. (e.g. Finance should not be allowed to change or see any HR data).
I thought it should be possible with authorizationobject S_RS_ADMWB. But this object does not have the possibility to enter an info-area.
Does anyone know how to do this?
Is there any documentation on this subject? I have seen a lot of documentation on report-authorization, but nothing about administrator-authorization.
    We are using BW7.0 (SP12).
    Best regards,
    Joost Kruk

    Hello,
S_RS_ADMWB alone will not help you to display the object sbjects structures and data in the InfoProviders in the Admin Workbench. In BI you will have to use the reporting authorization to view the data in the infoproviders through the admin workbench.
Please use the below objects in analysis authorizations (rsecadmin) to give display access to the required data
    0TCAACTVT = 03
0TCAIPROV = List of InfoProviders the FI team should have access
    0TCAVALID = 07/01/2007 to 12/31/9999
    Role should have:
    S_RS_ADMWM: Activity=03, Workbench Object = InfoArea
S_RS_ICUBE: Activity = 03 => to view the structure of the infoproviders
The combination of the above gives the authorization that you are looking for. InfoArea is just a text, the InfoProviders under it is what should look at to view the data.
    Thanks,
    Jay

  • Urgent:  Infoobjects and rules has been deleted

    hi experts,
I have a TestinfoArea and Production Infoarea in BW.
    Yesterday I deleted InfoAreaTest.
And I see that some update rules and transfer rules are being deleted from InfoArea Production. I saw in the system log that a Delete Planificator was running after deleted the infoobjects in test. Any idea about it? Do ypu understand me?
    thanks

    Hi Marc,
the problem is if you used the same infoobjects in one(!) BW system and deleted all infoobjects of your test infooarea then all your "production" objects are also gone! Though the infoobjects are listed under two different infoareas, they are not stored duplicate in the system, but only once. The only thing that you can have duplicate is as test and producitve is Infoproviders and Queries in one system.
When you delted the infoobejcts and auured that you really want to delte the objects all other dependent objects were also deleted.

  • How do I upload a network hierarhcy into SAP BW?

I am trying to import a large network hierarchy with "link nodes" into SAP BW.
I'm new to SAP, and BW 7.0 is all I know. However, apparently, you can't use the new 7.0 concepts and methods to import hierarchies. You must use older 3.5 methods, including a 3.5 InfoSource.
I found some instructions at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/fa/e92637c2cbf357e10000009b38f936/frameset.htm
Which documents how do import hierarchies using 3.5 mechanisms in version 7.0.
Unfortunately, I am unable to follow these steps. I create the 3.5 InfoSource, and the docs say:
"Choose InfoSource Tree ® Your Application Component ® Your InfoSource ® Assign Source System."
However, I see no option to "Assign Source System" anywhere. Also, when I create the 3.5 InfoSource, I see the target InfoObject show up in the InfoSources tree, but I don't see a InfoSource object show up in the InfoSources tree. I'm not sure what to do.

    Completely revised post.

    Krzys,
Thank you so much. I was trying to use a DB Connect Source System. I created a new flat file Source System and with that, I make it past step 4.
On step 5, I get asked about three different data sources. I choose "no" to the attributes and text data sources (those are import through BW 7.0 mechanisms) and "yes" to the hierarchy data source.
On Step 6, I am on the InfoSource change screen and I try to activate. I don't know what all the settings on the InfoSource mean. When I click activate, I get this error:
"InfoObj. 0GN_IOBJNM from fld IOBJNM of dataSource CSTOB_CBO_HIER is not active but BCT ex. -> Dtl Message no. RSAOLTP236"
I attempt to follow this help text and do: "RSA1" -> "Goto" -> "BI Content"
From there I see a panel, "InfoProviders by InfoAreas". There is a large tree underneath. I do a "find" for 0GN_OBJNM but nothing comes back. I don't know how to proceed.
I also do a Google for 0GN_OBJNM. I found the Best Practices Article BS1 which mentions activating the 0GN_OBJNM object. I try to follow step 3.3.2, however at step 2.c, I get a running stopwatch cursor that lasts for several hours. I assume it's hung. CPU+Disc on SAP server are idle.
    Swapna,
I tried to follow the PDF file that you linked. However, I can't do transaction SE38 since I can't get a developer code. The following steps seem similar to Krzys's suggestion where I'm getting the issues above.

  • What is the equivalent selection in BI7? (Following BW 3.5 How to...Set up

    Hi,
What is the equivalent selection in BI7? (Following BW 3.5 How to...Set up BW Statistics)
I am trying to install BW statistics and all the good things that come with it for BI7. Following the instructions in a document that I was directed to on this site, in SBIW, I installed and replicated all the datasource in under “TCT” tree (Technical content)
The instruction is for versions prior to BI7 and I had to make modifications as I go.
Now, this instruction direct me to go to:
rsa1, “Bi Content” (left) and then “InfoProviders by InfoAreas” and select all InfoProviders for the InfoAreas ”BW Statistics” and “BW Metadata” under the node “Technical Content”.
    1.
In BI7, there is no ”BW Statistics” and “BW Metadata” infoareas under “Technical Content” if I follow the directions strictly.
What is the equivalent of this in BI7?
    2.
In the instructions, the author continues to collect these InfoAreas from under “Technical Content”:
    BW Data Slice
    BW Features characteristics
    BW Metadata
    BW Statistics
In BI7, do we need exactly these? Or, now different? Should I just transfer all the infoareas under “Technical Content”? What is the disadvantage of collecting a ALL?
    Thanks

Yet, it does not have the step by step installation information on page 46 of this link:

  • Why activated Business Content can't be found?

We install two ODS under a folder and assign to a local object.  After it's done, we go to Transport Connection or just InfoProvider view on RSA1, nowhere can we find the activated ODS, where are they?
    Thanks

    Hi Kevin,
If you include just the ODS in the transport request, the system will pick up the definition and move that without checking whether all the InfoObjecs are also present in the target system or not. Lets say InfoObject1 was installed and is $TMP, this needs to go too, else the transport will fail.
Your ODS should be found here, but try this too. In your RSA1 > transport connection below InfoProviders by InfoAreas there should be an entry called Object Types. Click this and in the middle pane you should see all different kind of objects. Find ODS Object over here and then Search Objects.
    Hope this helps...

  • Analyzing existing Authorization - InfoProvider relation in 3.5

    Hi Guys!
I am still working on a concept to migrate report athorization in 3.5 to analysis authorization in 7.0.
At the moment, I am struggling to find a way to analyze existing authorizations, in terms of access on InfoProviders.
In the new analysis authorization, we plan to use the special dimension 0TCAIPROV to restrict access of an authorization object.
However, to migrate our existing authorizations, we therefore need to know on which InfoProvider an authorization has access to.
Do you know any "easy" way to identify the InfoProvider, an authorization has access on?
    Thanks in advance,
    Tobias
    Edited by: t.braml on Sep 9, 2009 12:21 PM

    Hi Gaurav!
Thanks for your reply. I appreciate your effort. The provided information helped me to access the table RSSTOBJDIR and to display the list of InfoProviders for which the Authorization Object is active.
However, this list does not provide the information I am looking for. I want to know the specific InfoProvider, the authorization relevant InfoObjects of an Authorization are using/accessing.
Because this way, I can easily migrate the existing authorizations to the new concept and restrict access by assigning InfoProvider to the dimension "0TCAIPROV".
Maybe it helps to use an example.
I do have an authorization X that uses the authorization object Y to restrict access on the authorization relevant object Z.
The authorization relevant object Z is sitting in an InfoProvider.
And I want to know, how to get the name of the InfoProvider, in which the autorization relevant object Z that is used in the specific authorization X is sitting in.
Does anyone know how to get the information?
    Cheers,
    Tobias
