List of values minus select query

Hi
I have list of fixed values say (2,3,5,7,11,13, .. ...97). I want to minus this list withe some query. how can I do that in oracle 9i sql.
ex:
select (abovelist)
minus
select value from numbers;
I don't want to create the table with above list and minus it.

Venkat

Hi,
Welcome to the forum!
So you want to treat those numbers as rows in a table, without actually putting them into a table.
Here's one way:
SELECT     column_value
FROM     TABLE (sys.odcinumberlist (2,3,5,7,11,13, .. ...97))
    MINUS
SELECT  value
FROM     numbers
;

  • How-To populate SELECT LIST default value from SQL Query

OK, I've done my homework, and did not find my answer in the Forum, so here it is.
I have a Page that displays fields from a SQL Query. The Page also has below that radiogroups, checkboxes, and Select Lists to allow the user to change values in the fields that are displayed at the top of the Region. I am able to pre-populate the radiogroups and checkboxes by performing a SELECT in the 'Source value or expression' of the Source area of the Page Item.
However, I am unable to do the same for the Select List fields. Their default value ends up being the first value in the LOV ('-- None --' for NULL values). Source Used: Only when current value in session state is null. Source Type: SQL Query. Also, when I first go into the Page when running it, and check the Session State values, they are all null, so I don't understand why the field is not populated by the SQL Query statement as the radiogroups and checkboxes are.
Any suggestions??? I've tried all sorts of combinations.

    Thank you for the suggestion.
I had considered that, but cannot do so, because we are using Oracle Application Express more for development than for data containment.
We have all our data in an Oracle 10.g DB which is separate from the OAEX server, and the OAEX app will reference that data via VIEWs and DB LINKs. We are doing so primarily as an added data security layer, where the data is housed separate from the app, in case the Web site is ever compromised. The data that can be viewed is restricted to a subset of the actual data that is available.
Since the data is on a separate server, (I assume) we will not be able to set the source type to Database column, because (I asume) that is dependent upon the data being housed by the OAEX server.
That still leaves me with having to populate the field with a SELECT statement from the Oracle DB. This unfortuneately is almost a show-stopper for me because of down-stream processing data requirements. Have not been able to come up with contingencies yet.

    Hi All,
I have a scnario where i have read only acess to a table and We cannot use stored procedures..
    Interface is JDBC to file.
Now there is one filed in the table which holdes the system date and time.Ex filed name as Sysdate.
now can i use  query as select * from table1 where Sysdate = x+1.
where X is the last process Sysdate field value.. is there any work arround to store the value in a file and check dynamically every time from that file to get the value of x and after that X+1 value has to be updated back to that file..
main aim is to eliminate duplicate entries.
    Regards
    Vijay

    Hi suraj,
thanks for the reply i have proposed the same for the requirement but there is no acess to update the table all we have is to read only the table.. so i get out one other way round to ensure the proper data has to be flow..
Similarly there is one more where i have datetime field value  i need to break all entires on base of time and pick the values ...
Even i proposed if you thre is no authorization to update the flag give me in flat file so that i can split the file by uisng java mapping..
But its was badluck i have a table with few lak entries read only aces to the table and ensure data has to be properly flow with out any duplications and miss entries.. any approach that we can achive this..

    Hello,
    Thanks for a nice solution.
    I have a similar situation.
I have a query panel with auto make name list of values returning make as name and make id into the hidden view attribute.
Based on this, i have another list of values namely auto model which is also a name field returning a name and id(hidden).
I tried choosing the auto model name field and editing dependencies as auto make id and later auto make name as well.
But i get this error in the Weblogic Log every time i selected the auto make LOV or auto model LOV and auto model does not filter based on auto name .
<SimpleSelectOneRenderer><_getSelectedIndex> Could not find selected item matching value "SomeNameViewCriteria" in QueryRenderer$2[UIXEditableFacesBeanImpl, id=null]
I have no clue how to handle this.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • How to create a list of value using date?

We need to create a list on a report. The list consists of date. I have tried several times, but no luck.

    Hi Charles,
I guess you have a user-parameter in your report and you need to define the LoV for the user parameter, so that the user can select from the LoV. In such a case you get REP-0782 if the datatype of column does not match the LoV of the parameter. Eg, if you have a query like
    select * from employees where hire_date < :p_hire_date
And you want to build an LoV for hire_date, do the following:
    1. Go to your user parameter > Property Inspector > Datatype > select "Date". If you select Character or Number, you will get REP-0782.
    2. Now double click List of Values, choose "Select Statement" and type something like
select distinct hire_date from employees order by hire_date asc
If you don't want to use a Select Statement to build the LoV, you can write a static list of values, and even in this case Step 2 above should avoid the error REP-0782.

  • Passing list of values to a function

As what type list of values multiple selections, e.g. resulting in (1,2,3), are represented in function parameters?
for example i have lov that results in (1,2,3) and dataset query is select myfunction(:mylov) from dual.
Variable of what type I must declare in function definition?

when i hadthe same situation , i used cursor query to resolve .
    eg.
    select myfunction(cursor(select field1 from table1 where field1=:parameter1)) from dual
In the PL sql function get all thee parameters from the cursor variable and pass into the looping statement for furthur processing

  • Displaying the description using a Named List of Values

    Hi All,
Can anyone help me to display just the Description rather then Value on an updateable report using a Named List of Values.
    Thanks
    Arif

    Hi
Create the named list of values. Go to the Report Attributes and then to the column attributes page for the column that you want to be displayed as description. In Tabular Form Element section select Display As: Select List (named LOV). Then in the List of Values section select the LOV that you created in the Named LOV. Set Display Extra Values to No.

  • Refresh popup list of values javascript

I try to change value of popup list of values with javascript.
When i set it with javascript i get only return value visible in popup list of values (display). When i add refresh in dynamic action item is clean..and dont have any value..
How to set display and return value correctly...
    Thanks...
Edited by: Nihad Haskovic on Jul 18, 2012 3:18 AM

I am not sure if I understand your question, but if you want to show two display value columns you can use a concatenation, for example:
    select raum||' - '||some_other_column display_value, raum return_value from standort order by 1
You can also build a custom popup LOV picker. If you wanted to have popup list of values that selected a number of columns and contained custom report filters you could do so by:
    1. create a report page which queries the table you wish pick from
    2. change the page template to be a popup lov style template
    3. in the "Post Element Text" attribute put a link to the new popup page using javascript similar to: javascript:popupURL('f?p=&APP_ID.:10:&SESSION.')
( you may wish to wrap it around an image such as this one )
    <img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#htmldb/icons/view_small.gif" />
    4. make one of the columns in your report a link to javascript to passback the value and close the popup window. A good example of this javascript can be viewed by viewing the HTML page source of the popup page finder which is linked from the APEX page definition page.

  • List of values not properly working in the selection screen.

    Dear Mates,
In BEx query all the selection parameters are working and showing all the list of values. Created the same report in crystal from BEx query, for one particular selection it is not showing the list of values or drop down. Just showing "DISCRETE VALUES"
Please throw some light on this.
    Good day,
    Regards
    Arun S

    Hi Arun,
I think you have more than one dynamic parameter created in your report.  There is a limitation on dynamic parameter list of values.  You will have to edit the registery to get all values in dynamic parameters list.
    Find below is a knowledgebase article ;
    Symptom
For performance reasons, in Crystal Reports XI Release 1 and Release 2 the maximum number of values that are returned for a list of values is set to 1000. If you have a cascading List of Values (for example Country > Region > City), the lowest level (in this case City) will only display a maximum of 1000 values. This means that the higher-level prompts may display far fewer values than you expect. The list of values provides the data for the dynamic parameter list.
How can you modify the maximum number of values available in a dynamic parameter list?
    Resolution
To increase the maximum number of values available in a dynamic parameter list, you must add a registry key.
    CAUTION
The following resolution involves editing the registry. Using the Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall the Microsoft Windows operating system. Use the Registry Editor at your own risk. For information on how to edit the registry key, view the 'Changing Keys and Values' online Help topic in the Registry Editor (Regedit.exe).
It is strongly recommended that you make a backup copy of the registry files (System.dat and User.dat on Win9x computers) before you edit the registry.
    Crystal Reports XI Release 1
    Create a registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV.
    NOTE
Alternatively, you can create the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV and that key will override the settings of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV key.
Add a string value "MaxRowsetRecords" and set the value to the maximum number of values that you desire for your report. For example, a value of 2000 will return up to 2000 values in the lowest level of a cascading parameter. NOTE: The value 0 (Unlimited) will not work with BusinessObjects Enterprise XI or Crystal Reports Server XI, you must specify another value.
    NOTE
The higher the number of values is, the longer it will take the Enter Values dialog box to populate with values.
After making changes to the registry, restart the affected service or application as required.
    Crystal Reports XI Release 2
    Create a registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV.
    NOTE
Alternatively, you can create the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV and that key will override the settings of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV key.
Add a string value "MaxRowsetRecords" and set the value to the maximum number of values that you desire for your report. For example, a value of 2000 will return up to 2000 values in the lowest level of a cascading parameter.
    NOTE
The value 0 (Unlimited) will not work with BusinessObjects Enterprise XI or Crystal Reports Server XI, you must specify another value.
After making changes to the registry, restart the affected service or application as required.
    Thanks,
    Sastry
