List of Variables?

We are working on a book with over 100 variables. Is there any way to print a list of the variable names and their definitions to easily proof without having to look at the little edit definition box?

Sort of, as a workaround thing, if you save the file as MIF, you can then use the freebie MIFBrowse tool to look at the mif and find the Variables catalog called "VariableFormats" MIFBrowse is here:

Even though the website doesn't mention later versions, it does work ok with FM9 (it may just ignore FM9 specific features, I don't know, but the basics of the FM file are easily viewed in MIFBrowser.
Unfortunately there's no way to actually save or print out this information via MIFBrowse, but you can select the content in the right pane and then paste into a text editor or spreadsheet.
Alternatively, using MIFBrowse to determine the start/end MIF tags of the catalog, it would be possible to run a script to extract just that section of content into a text file or spreadsheet.
And, finally, there may be several third-party tools that could help in viewing Variables; check out the FM tools list at

I guess there are aournd 77 sap exit variables.
Follow the below steps to get the list of SAP EXIT variables in the system.
se11/16 -->RSZGLOBV
in the selection screen enter the
Version - A
Processing type - 4(SAP exit)
execute it will display the Sap exit variables.
The other way to get the list is goto SE37 --> type "RSVAREXIT_*" ->F4 it will display all the SAP Exit variable function module.here if u want you can check the Codes used for SAP Exit variables as well.
for example
Check in Se37 --> enter "RSVAREXIT_0P_KEYDT2" and click on display it will display the code.
here u can get what exactly the sap exit variable does.

List of variables available for use in email templates

I would like to replace the $(resourceAccountId) variable with the AccountID (or
Name) variable in the Password Synchronization Notice email template.
If anyone can tell me where I can found the list of variables (or tell me the
variables themselves) which are available for use in the email templates I
would be grateful.

Bert,
The workflow that uses the notification template can pass any value that you want. All you need to do is modify the workflow to pass the value and then have reference to that value in your template.
Other than that you can use the attributes that are available to you in IDM.

I have looked everywhere through the documentation, and cannot find the answer to my question. Does anyone have an expanded list of variables, above that which is listed on the CMC Server smtp output screen?
I am specifically looking for how to include the error message in the email, but anything beyond that would be great.

Where can I find a list of variables (e.g. %LOCALE%, %VERSION%, %SUBSCRIPTION%) and their definitions which can be used in Firefox preferences?

Limit selection list for variables

Hello Experts.
Is there a way to limit the selection list for variables? For example, there are many possible currency values for 0CURRENCY, but I want allow the user to choose only one of these choices USD, EUR, or HKD. I would rather not do a validation check subsequent to the users making their selection.
I must use 0CURRENCY rather than copying it to another characteristic and entering only those three keys in master data.
Any ideas?

If you are using the standard info object which is referring to '0CURRENCY' then it mayn't be possible to restrict the 'F4' list to few currencies in the standard BEx environment. There are couple of options to limit the 'F4' selections using the web template /BSP technology.

List of variables for included video player?

I wanted to use the included video player from Flash media server but can't find a list of variables and values to pass to the player. Is there a list and could anyone point me in the right direction? I'm specifically looking to pass a stream name for a live stream to the video player.

Still I believe you've misunderstood the question. What I seek is documentation on the features of the player and info on it's parameters/variables.
I've included the FMS startpage object code and here you see a bunch of them. Take the parameters:
dsControl=manual (quess this is dynamic stream control)
dsSensitivity=100 (quess this dynamic stream sensitivity)
DS_Status=true (quess this dynamic stream status)
streamType=vod
....etc
These are just some of the parameters and I'm looking for an overview and explanation of them all.

You normally use a Servlet class for this. You can get request parameters by HttpServletRequest#getParameter() or #getParameterValues() then.
This is fairly trivial though. Please go through a decent JSP/Servlet book/tutorial first.

Get specific filenames and sizes from a folder based on a list of variables

Hi,
I have a folder containing user's OST files, with various filenames:
\\myserver\OST share\JBLoggs - Outlook 2010.ost
\\myserver\OST share\CKent - Outlook2013.ost
\\myserver\OST share\BAllan Myoutlook.ost
There are several thousand files, and I need to get the file names & file sizes for 200 specific users only. I tried a for do in a bat file, but wildcards don't appear to be honored:
"for /f %%a in (C:\Temp\UserNames.txt) do dir "\\myserver\OST share\%%a*" >> C:\Temp\Filenames.txt
The * is not recognised as a wildcard, and the .bat fails (the dir command is parsed as "\\myserver\OST share\JBloggs*)
I can do this manually via Excel, but it will be an ongoing task so I'd rather automate it. I've also tried Powershell, but am hitting policy restrictions (from my employer, not from Powershell), and no joy with Google. Any advice? (& thanks to all for
looking!)

Edit: Adding a PushD/PopD to the start and end of the bat file and removing the path from the dir command appears to have fixed it.
Must have been something in the folder path that was breaking it, although since it maps fine through PushD & works when typed manually, I'm at a loss to explain what. Thanks for taking a look - appreciated!
I'm not sure why it's working for you, but not working for me - I had assumed there was a syntax error/rule/additional switch needed in a For Do loop, so that is what I have been researching. There are definitely confirmed files that start with the usernames
in my list. As an example:
-My list & folder contains the variable DQuinn. When I run the bat file the following is displayed in the command prompt window I run it from:
C:\Windows\System32>dir "\\myserver\OST share\DQuinn*" 1>>C:\Temp\Filenames.txt
So the wildcard is treated as a literal * character, and not as a wildcard - in turn the dir command fails.
(I'm not sure why 1 is displayed in front of the >>, but the txt file is written to correctly and removing the whole >>C:\Temp\Filenames section doesn't fix the bat file, so I'm not worried about that part).
-From the same command prompt, if I run the command
dir "\\myserver\OST share\DQuinn*"
Then I get the expected output:
Directory of \\myserver\OST share
01/04/2015 02:47 PM       250,322,944 [email protected] - 2010.ost
               1 File(s)    250,322,944 bytes
               0 Dir(s) 4,288,303,345,664 bytes free
Side note: I'm assuming the double a (%%aa) in your answer is a typo? I tried copying it just in case, but no joy :)

BI 7 list of variable values not shown in chagne variable values option.

In BI7 queries i face a problem like the first time you execute a query it asks for selection options ,then the next time if we want to change the variables we have a option "change variable values" in the menu bar to change it,but unlike BW 3.5 it is not showing the entire list of values it shows only the history or the present values we choose,this restricts from selecting any desired values from the list.
Is there any way to resolve this problem,your suggestions will be really helpful.

After you click on the box in the variable selection screen you will get another window "Select Values for XXXX". In the first box you will have a drop down box which will show "History", Favorites", "Single Values" & "Value rabges". Then in the bottom right there is a button "More" when you click on it it will open to show the selections already made.

Mapping from a list of variables to the only one variable. Is it possible?

I have a WebService which returns a list of some data.
For example:
EmployeeList with
[0..*]
cardinality. It has text() variable.
In my process context I need to map the first text() variable of EmployeeList to the EmployeeName with cardinality
[0..1]
But I can't do it because it says "expected: xsd:string. Founded a list of xsd:string". Are there any workarounds? What if I don't want to create the same structure in my context as WebService returns?

List of variables and their classes from working script?

I have a working script that has many variables containing finder references and file path descriptions as strings or Unicode text. It is not easy to remember what these variables refer to. Is it possible to get a listing of all of a scripts variables and their respective class?

The only way I've seen to do this is with Script Debugger, an alternative script editor that has significant debugging tools such as breakpoints, stepping, variable inspection and more.

Method 1 :Right click on variable in Query Designer and find the where used list.
Method 2 Please go to SE16--> RSZGLOBV -->Enter the variable VNAM as 'Variable Name' ->Get the VARUNIID> Go to table RSZELTXREF --> Enter the values of VARUNIID in TELTUID --> Get the list of SELTUID --> Go to table RSZCOMPDIR --> Enter the values of SELTUID in COMPUID --> Get the list of COMPID -->COMPID is the list of queries.

Mathscript Probe Window (LV 2009) Not listing all variables

Please see the screenshot below. The Mathscript probe window is shown on the right of the VI block diagram. The execution is at the breakpoint on the last line (blue arrow).
Why is input variable "a" not listed in the probe window? I see this behavior that some variables are not listed in the probe window.

Hi AJ,
There are a couple of things that may be going on when variables fail to appear in the MathScript Probe. The first is a bug with the MathScript Probe in 2009. Sometimes input variables either fail to appear or briefly appear then immediately disappear. The good news is that this bug (CAR #182784) is scheduled to be fixed in the next service pack release of LabVIEW. I'm not sure if Nickerbocker's workaround will work. If it doesn't, you could also try adding "a = a+0;" to the top of your script.
Another occasion where variables will fail to appear is if they are defined within your script but never used. This case is analagous to placing a constant on a LabVIEW block diagram and not wiring it to anything. In this situation, there is no wire to probe; the only way to see the value at run-time is to look at the code itself. It's a similar situation when you define a variable in MathScript without using it; the MathScript Probe cannot report the variable because it doesn't have a corresponding "wire" so you have to look at your MathScript node to see the value.
Please let us know if you notice missing variables in situations other than the above two cases.
